Executive decision that at 987 posts we're moving over!

New challenge - can we fill up 1000 posts before the first babies arrive, given that we managed to keep our legs crossed all through the last one?!

First babies are due, officially, next month but are there any in such a hurry to see the world that they can beat our chatting?

That sounds good to me Ali! Has your bump dropped at all? Other things to look out for are diahrea and a white discharge.

I was having all of the above yesterday, but still no baby... Grrr.

Cyclebump · 16/03/2011 11:23

Bloody nesting!

Bedroom is tidier, kitchen tidied, old cupboard cleared to encourage DP to get rid of it, load of washing done and some reusable nappies ordered.

Am leaving for lunch in half an hour and I need to hang the washing out. I wish I could take my tips from the cats, they're both peacefully asleep in curled up balls of fur.

caramellokoalalover · 16/03/2011 11:31

Ooo Ali sounds like could be the start of something. Nausea and vomitting could be another sign of early labour too. I've had a few friends describe labour starting as feeling like they had a stomach bug with dodgy tummy etc...feeling like you don't want to be far from the loo.

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 16/03/2011 11:36

Loving nesting by proxy Grin

Fingers crossed for you Ali - I have no wise words on what early labour feels like but everyone says 'you'll 'know'' and 'different' so...

SarahJinx we're in exactly the same boat...same due date and I also finish work next Friday. Cannot flipping wait.

Just getting everything ready but i've been getting BHs all this week...which making it VERY tricky to concentrate! Just end up skimming MN as mentally i am so ready to finish now .

Ali - exciting that you might have movements. I am a first timer, so cannot offer any words of wisdom. Just excited for you Grin.

MrsWajs · 16/03/2011 12:32

Looks suspiciously like I'll need to be glued to the laptop in future! So much going on!! Fingers crossed you are on your way Ali DP's sister went into labour without realising and just thought she'd had a slight tummy bug, ended up going into hospital just to get checked out and had baby 10 minutes later!!
Am hoping for a similar experience! [foolish emoticon]

Re: the coconutterly ice cream, I got it in tesco and was reduced to £2 something instead of the usual fiver (mainly why I got it - stooge!!) not sure if it's a new one or just limited edition but I certanly haven't come across it before. My favourite is Baked Alaska! That with chopped strawberries - yum yum yum!! Very conducive to the thrush I'm sure Hmm

Ecuse I almost could have written your post yesterday keep having this weird feeling of being amazingly happy which then leads to feeling like i want to cry alternated with a feeling of emotional nausea!! It's really strange! DPs explanation is that it's love for the baby! Like real proper love lol, he says he feels like that about DS! I predict being an emotional wreck once she arrives if that's the case!
Also been having feet jammed out of my left hand side! It's so surreal.
I had a friend up to visit yesterday and she was watching baby move around my tummy and i was prodding a little bit, then felt like i had kinda squished something with my finger and freaked out thinking maybe i'd squashed her nose, no more prodding me thinks!!! Don't want a baby with a boxers nose come April!!

kittycatcat · 16/03/2011 12:33

Oh exciting ladies... Will be keeping a close eye.

Carpets just gone down in the nursery. Just the border to go up and furniture to be built now. Am so excited.

Fingers crossed for you all :-)

Petalouda · 16/03/2011 13:09

well done with the carpets kitty - we haven't decorated at all yet (anywhere - new build house), but we're off to look at paint tomorrow!

Well, the gecko is now clean and lovely. She's a school pet I acquired from another teacher - flipping heck, I'm amazed leopard geckos are still in existance, watching her trying to investigate the new set-up was painful! I hope it's because she's quite elderly, and not all geckos are so inept.

I've had an invite to go to the park with a friend and her 18mth old this avo. I've been promised it'll be a sedate waddle! Belly's feeling soo heavy and low today! Not comfortable getting up at all!

Any news Ali? You're due the day after me, so I'm very excited for you, and also a teeeny bit Envy!

1stTimeMother · 16/03/2011 13:13

apologies but I'm only just catching up on all news and I saw mention of the TENS thread and now can't find it... can anyone guide me or there or remind me who started it please?!?!!

kitstwins · 16/03/2011 13:16

Ali will be hovering by laptop checking for progress. How exciting!!

Reached 37 weeks today so a big milestone for me. Not only does this mean that I've got two weeks further on than I did with the twins but that I'm now also TERM and 'normal' so a big stick in the eye for any nervous, scalpel-happy consultants out there. The downside is that I'm still working as there are some issues with my replacement and I can't leave my boss in the lurch. So in this week and for some of next, which feels quite close to the wire. The crappy bit is taking the Tube, although I am going very slowly and also later to avoid the worse of the rush. No one moves slower than me on the Piccadilly Line at the moment. I am the human glacier!!

Ladies, there's no escaping the fact that we are all getting close.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/03/2011 13:19

Quick update

Nothing really to report, still getting all the tightenings but there is no regularity so I don't think it is anything significant. I feel really odd though, a bit detached from reality and like I would just like to crawl into a hole away from the world. Obviously DS is not in agreement with that plan Grin

JustKeepSwimming · 16/03/2011 13:26

Ali - that detached feeling i'm sure i've seen mentioned being a good pre-labour sign :)

Can't remember if i updated about my MW situation - spoke to my nice MW on Mon and was totally reassured, she is changing to be my official MW and the junior one will only be welcome as a 'second' so her worries don't take over.
Anyway - the junior one range me just now to arrange coming to see me for the 37wk appt at home....erm, so Other MW didn't speak to you yet then?
So i told her that i'd changed MWs to the other one, and she seemed really surprised, what have i done, etc.
i hate confrontation but did manage to explain a bit that the blood testing plan she wanted was pointless & without reason. anyway think i've upset her which i really was trying to avoid

BeetleBaby · 16/03/2011 14:13

1st Time the thread that ecuse started (and prompted me to get my backside in gear!) is here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/pregnancy/1172107-TENS-machines-which-type

There is a link to an earlier thread in there that I found useful. Just bought the Babycare Femme TENS www.babycaretens.com/acatalog/Femme_TENS_Hire.html as it's half price. Even with the delivery cost it was about the same as hiring from most places!

Ali ooo so exciting! (Though I too am Envy)

JKS I wouldn't worry about possibly upsetting the MW, she shouldn't have put in the position of explaining 'what has she done' after you had already said that you had spoken to the other MW. And yay for having the nice MW as your official MW!

Kits it's brilliant that you've got to 37wks, though I can't believe you're still managing to not only get to work but to use the tube, getting the bus is bad enough for me!

Petal Hope you have a nice waddle! A gecko sounds a much more exciting school pet than we had when I was at school, then it was just fish or stick insects!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 16/03/2011 14:22

Sounds like it could be a latent phase of labour Ali, or the baby getting into a really good position. Whatever it is, rest when you can - easier said than done with a lo I know!

lucielooo · 16/03/2011 15:27

Another first timer so no advice but will definitely be watching with interest Ali! I've also heard that the feeling of wanting to hole-up can come just before/in early labour basically to make sure you get lots of rest so you're ready for labour. If I was you I'd get off to bed now!

Had my 36wk appointment today with mixed results! no sugar in urine but mw said I did it too long after eating as there were high kerotones instead. Doesn't seem worried but just said make sure I did first morning wee (which I didn't know you were supposed to till now..!!)

My blood pressure was quite low (been 110/70 every single appointment but was 80/90 today.. mw didn't mention it but just wondered if this might be because i hadn't had lunch? seems quite a big difference)

Also going for a presentation scan on Monday as can't work out which was baby is and is potentially breech. Fingers crossed all ok but I'd rather know now. There's a big hard lump that moves above my belly button which could be bottom but is very hard and I feel hiccups under my right boob!

Ah well, in a few weeks it'll all be done and dusted and we'll start getting some more lovely babies to enjoy :) :)

lucielooo · 16/03/2011 15:28

oops 80/60 not 80/90!

JustKeepSwimming · 16/03/2011 15:42

Lucie - i think your MW is a tad confused there, if you did a first morning wee you wouldn't have eaten for hours! And at my clinic they are totally used to you doing it seconds before the appt as lots of women forget
I often get low BP in pg, in fact it tends to just get lower and lower. If pg went on for much longer i wouldn't be able to stand up, lol.

Neighbours causing lots of anxiety & entertainment here today;
chopping trees down at the back (boo) & relaying driveway at the front (DS's finding it v exciting as currently there are 3 men & a big truck pouring concrete Grin)

chipsahoynicki · 16/03/2011 15:43

How exciting for you Ali.. that's how my labour started with my DS, i had lots of pains, but no pattern for 24hrs, before they suddenly started to hurt a lot and came regularly, 12 hrs later my DS was born. It was a long slow labour, but didn't really hurt a lot until the last 12 hrs.

Lots of us full term, how exciting. My sis in law gave birth last night, i am so excited now.

Well done those still managing to work. I worked until 36 weeks last time, this time around i finished 2 weeks ago at 32 weeks, although this was because the company sold and i no longer have a job!

My friend's little boy has chicken pox, we were with him last week, so fingers crossed my ds doesn't get it.. now is not the time for a spotty, grumpy little boy!

lucielooo · 16/03/2011 15:57

JKS that's what DP said.. surely you'd be even more hungry first thing in the morning? Who knows then! Interesting about your bp as well.. didn't think its anything to be concerned about just think it's interesting all this pregnancy business. Do feel lke a toddler going 'but WHY' all the time though!

Cyclebump · 16/03/2011 16:00

Oooh, Ali I too am envious if it's all starting. The flat may not be ready but I definitely am!

Petalouda · 16/03/2011 16:11

Ooh! I'm back! Did I miss anything?!

The park was lush! It's so sunny and warm out, and a nice little waddle was lovely! I even got little snuggles with my friend's 18month old - what is it about cuddling small children that's so lovely?!

JKS & Lucie - I'm sure most of my high glucose readings are just a result of them not telling me when to do the sample (you know that 'explained' tick box on your notes? none ticked at all!). Plus I'd forget anyway and go straight for the coco pops!

My other friend's 4-yr-old has just rang to ask if the baby was coming yet! Apparently he's convinced it's coming tonight! Maybe he's just picking up Ali's vibes!

Oh & JKS lots of sympathy on the living-with-building situation - our estate is still a building site, so we get jackhammers at 8am etc. I've actually become quite accustomed to it! Although now that I'm wanting to sit outside in the sun to read, it's not as relaxing as I'd like!

Right, snack & snooze time for me!

lucielooo · 16/03/2011 16:20

Definitely something up with me today as I read that as 'smack and booze time' GrinHmm

SarahJinx · 16/03/2011 16:23

Ok so on the high glucose thing, I've never had it in my pee sample, but twice have scored higher than 6 (top range) in my bloods - have done the fasting test twice now and both times it's been normal - the last time was this week and mw just called to let me know all is normal again (hoorah).

Lucie - I had my blood test at 11.30 am and had to 'fast' from the night before until then......was almost falling into faints by the time I had it done...but also I saw the midwife straight after for ordinary 34 week check, with a pee sample done literally 2 minutes before ( JKS am just the same) and nothing, no keytones on account of starving self and certainly no telling off from mw.

Anyway, when I was typing this I thought it hugely useful....! Ha!

Baby work party thing was so cute today, flowers, gifts, cake, a special CD of songs with baby in the title (aw) fizzy pop and a full on buffet - the stuff dreams are made of.....I cried, obviously.

SarahJinx · 16/03/2011 16:24

Ooh Petal am so jeal of park and cuddles...
