Executive decision that at 987 posts we're moving over!

New challenge - can we fill up 1000 posts before the first babies arrive, given that we managed to keep our legs crossed all through the last one?!

First babies are due, officially, next month but are there any in such a hurry to see the world that they can beat our chatting?

I have hip ache but only on my left side if I lie on it too long. I think it's just a case of keeping the pressure off as much as possible and not allowing the muscles to seize up.

Awful back pain in the lower right quadrant though, especially when I'm driving.

I plan to come back and vent about my day at the hospital but first lunch! Tis 4pm and I'm starving.

MrsW where can I get this coconutterly of which you speak? Like you, thrush here since about 13wks but can not contemplate a life without sugar and yeast so will just have to put up with thrush and console myself with ice cream.

AussieMum2Be · 15/03/2011 15:17

Well I dont want to boast but I slept really well last night, only 3 pee trips so feel very rested today, was probably due to the 2 hours of cleaning and sorting out nursery I did before bed (I arranged babys clothes in grows, vests, dresses, etc, nesting perhaps ??, plus the fact I had the worst night sleep the night before, up every 30 mins for about 2.5 hours and then up every hour after that.

Also had the best dream that I had my baby and Bruno Mars just walked into my nursery and started singing to her "cause your amazing, just the way you are"

Not sure if i was happier to see my baby or Bruno Mars !!

JenAT I loved Labyrinth by Kate Mosse, it actually inspired me to go to Carcassonne on holiday which is beautiful !! Cant remember if it took my a while to get into it, but do remember i loved it in the end !

Cycle Cheap black towels available from Sainsburys for £4.50 !! Bargin

Cyclebump · 15/03/2011 15:52

Why oh why do I think I can cram stuff in?!

Am now exhausted after a hectic morning. Met a friend for coffee then headed to Primark. For £20 I purchased two black bath towels (missed your tip Aussie), two pairs of big comfy tracky bums, and two vest tops with 'hidden support' that'll do for sleeping in.

I then headed to Mothercare and bought a roll of cotton wool but no maternity mats as they'd run out. I then went to M&S where I wandered round feeling a bit weird and spent a good 20 minutes looking for f*ing croutons. Nearly in tears I asked a young man stacking salad where the croutons were, they were right in front of me!

Am now sitting in my messy house trying desperately to muster some energy.

Petalouda · 15/03/2011 15:57

go to sleep Cycle

clean later

you've already missed 3pm nap-time!

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 15/03/2011 15:59

I agree, cleaning can wait. You need to look after yourself first and foremost.

I have brain freeze. This is NOT GOOD.

OP posts:
BeetleBaby · 15/03/2011 16:20

I agree that you should have nap Cycle time much better spent! (And if it's any consolation I have moments like your crouton moment quite regularly, even when not pregnant. Buying toothpaste and just about all branches of Boots usually results in me looking dazed, confused and not buying anything! Confused )

I haven't had night sweats so far (but then I'm usually such a cold person I've probably only gone up to 'normal' temperature!) but I have been waking up around 5/6am with really achey, painful legs and have to rearrange everything so that I can elevate them as they also swell slightly.

My hips, pelvis and back have been agony all day, usually I'd just get a bath but flipping ASDA delivery still hasn't turned up so I've been stuck all day, with no real food in the house, not able to start anything, have a bath or, more importantly have a nap!

A thread on the Pregnancy boards made me realise that I should probably have sorted a TENS machine before now so am researching the options. Can't decide whether to rent (approx £25-35) or buy (approx £35-45) Hmm decisions, decisions!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 15/03/2011 16:27

Carcasonne is on my list of places to visit before I die aussiemum, and I also enjoyed Labyrinth Jen. A couple of years ago I visited Chartres cathedral (which was stunning) and saw the actual Labyrinth on the cathedral floor - lots of people were walking on it and doing whatever it is you're supposed to do on it Blush, is it some sort of contemplation or something - I can't remember, plus I am a total heathen.

I hope you slept cycle. If I were you, get used to letting the housework and such unimportant guff go. When the baby arrives you'll be far better off napping and looking moony faced at your lo than worrying about the state of the carpet

Yes, mrsWaj, what is this coconutterly that you speak of, I'm ashamed to hear that a new B&J flavour has bypassed me.

A warning to all thrush sufferers. Thrush can be passed to the baby duting a vaginal delivery, so it really is best if you can get rid of it beforehand.

I meant to say Frakk that I know nothing of soya milk and allergies, you should put a shout out on here as I'm sure someone will be able to help Smile

ecuse · 15/03/2011 17:12

Think that was my TENS thread, beetle, it's just occurred to me that I should probably get one sorted, but dithering over which make and model. Consensus seems to be there's not much in it, just to make sure it's a maternity one rather than a standard one so it has the contractions button.

My LO has just taken to sticking it's heel out as hard as it can in the last few days. But if I give its little foot a tickle it'll pull it back in. I find this absolutely fascinating and amazing. I knew I was growing a whole little person in there, but it makes it feel very real to be able to interact with it in that way. Makes me a bit teary.

Does anyone else have strange bouts of hysterical crying? It's not because I'm sad, but four or five times throughout this pregnancy I've found myself giggling far more than is called for by whatever joke has been told, which turns into slightly hysterical laughter and then massive wracking sobs. It's not because I'm upset, it's more like my body feels like it physically needs a good cry. Very odd. Wine required, I think.

1stTimeMother · 15/03/2011 17:29

Had the Active Birth class at our hospital yesterday which was just wonderful & so inspirational. Lovely, amazing MW who I hadn't met before was just so positive about how labour can and should be and what you can do to help yourself that it really got rid of some of the immense fear I've got building up! First class situation for DH as well and he was just wonderful & getting so excited. Really nice to have someone saying that things could and should go well & not be only the traumatic experience that so many others seem keen to tell me all about!!!!! Maybe this is just my ostrich-like need to ignore what might go wrong & rather concentrate on the fact that this is a very exciting time!

Could quite do without the aches reminding me though... am really starting to move slowly and feeling big, although I'm not measuring big so I shouldn't panic yet!

ecuse... yes I'm with you. Was in restaurant on saturday night having romantic meal with DH listening to live jazz & the beautiful singer started singing our 1st dance song and that was it... sitting at the table in a lovely italian, tears pouring into my risotto whilst DH texted my sis as I NEVER cry and he found it so funny!!!! Possibly shouldn't have had glass of prosecco?!

Cyclebump · 15/03/2011 17:48

Mmmmmmmmm prosecco...

I did rest a little bit... But then I cleaned the he'll out of the bathroom. DP has now put his foot down though, he came home as I finished and when he caught me ferrying stuff from the study to the kitchen to put in my nice new cupboards he insisted I sit for a bit so I am.

I think it must be proper nesting though because even sitting here I'm desperate to hang the washing on the airer and start sorting out some of the bedroom! Hmmm, he's on the work computer so I could sneak past the office and do some clothes folding...

What's wrong with me?!?!

AprilMeadow · 15/03/2011 17:48

ooh there must have been something in the air last night as I had a evening of pains/tightenings that were every 7-9mins. Decided to head to bead after OBEM and figured if this was it then I would be woken... I was woken, sadly at 6.30am by the kids all waking up and not due to bad cx's LOL!

Petalouda · 15/03/2011 17:54

My mother always says - maximum 5 days from mental nesting urges to baby arriving. So it looks like we're watching YOU cycle!!

Glad you've got some kitchen cupboards in order - your DH better get the rest sorted sharpish!

April I went to bed with the same mentality. Woken at 6am by the cat, though! Grin

BH's seem to have started earlier today, just realised I was wincing on the way to the kitchen!

Anyone else get mentally hungry with BH's? I had 2 portions of pasta and a bowl of cereal before bed last night and still woke up STARVING!

Cyclebump · 15/03/2011 18:14

Eek! Maybe I could spread out the days of mental nesting, one a week or something...

I too get super hungry.

Have just made the error of trying on new trackie bums. They are SO comfy. They were meant to be for labour bag to go home in. Hmmmm, maybe I'll keep them out for a bit.

Jaylar · 15/03/2011 18:16

I've borrowed a TENS machine but managed to buy the wrong pads. So if anyone has a Boots model TENS machine and wants some extra pads then let me know and I'll post them on.

Have just ordered the correct pads which should arrive in 2 to 5 working days. Praying I don't go into labour before they arrive as it made such a difference with the birth of my daughter. Also got my almond oil all set to begin perineal massage when I hit 36 weeks on Saturday. Woman behind counter asked what it was for, but I just left it at massage. No need to go into specifics.

BeetleBaby · 15/03/2011 19:36

Oh yes, I get the hunger. It's a bit like anti-cravings though, instead of there being one thing I have to have I usually have no clue what I want to eat, I just want something there and then! Also, a stash of cereal bars are now next to my bed in case of night time munchies Grin

ecuse yes it was your thread so thanks for the prompt on that one Smile I think I'm going to buy one, there isn't much difference in price once you factor in the postage costs. I also don't need to worry about having to return something that's broken if I do my usual and drop it thanks to my amazing ability to drop things at the moment Blush

Liv77 · 15/03/2011 20:33

I have decided i don't like Tuesdays Sad
Last tues DS ended up in A&E and today just when we had the daytime toilet training sussed and he'd been dry for nearly a week, he's come down with a bad case of the trots.
I feel really sorry for him as he desperately tries to get to the loo each time and shouts for me but doesn't always make it, after 3 pairs of dirty pants this afternoon I decided we had to get the nappies back out. DS was gutted and I've had to explain several times that it's not his fault that his tummy isn't well.

Right i'm off to soak some pooey pants, DH has been dispatched to the shop for some Napisan. So much for a relaxing maternity leave

NotAnotherNewNappy · 15/03/2011 20:45

Kits - lol at your analysis of OBEM.

Sarah - I make my DH rub the cramp out of my hips and I put portions of value frozen peas into sandwich bags and then stuff them down my pants for fanjo ache Blush

MrsWajs - I am pollyhydrowhatsit lady....

And because of that, I an measuring a whopping 42cm at 36+4 Shock But the good news is, MW says baby is 3/5 engaged Grin I am so pleased as most of the problems associated with an excess of fluid at birth seemed to stem from the baby not engaging properly. I also have chronic back ache, a serious nesting drive and am huffing and puffing my way through the evening. Fingers crossed this is the start for me!

If not, and I have another 3 or 4 weeks to go with a bump that is growing 2 or 3 cm per week, then I really don't know how my poor body is going to cope Confused

JenAT · 15/03/2011 22:26

Oh god the hip cramps! I seem to get to about 4am then they start and I keep having to roll onto alternate hips until I give in and end up getting up about 6.

DH has taken to sleeping in the spare room as I have to get up to wee about every 1-2hrs, groan every time I roll over and now snore like a piggy.

Liv77 poor you, soaking pooey pants. Hope your ds gets better soon.

Went shopping with my Mum today, she bought some shoes, a lovely top and a pair of trousers. I bought a pack of breast pads and some maternity pads...

Daisy17 · 16/03/2011 08:30

Ditto the hip cramp scenario, esp the lumping oneself from side to side every five minutes and DP retreating to spare room - he's very good about it, bless him and we do both sleep better, but it's also very nice when he stays and can give me a big cuddle when I am crying with frustration at five in the morning like today!! Three more days at school - hurrah!! Smile

Cyclebump · 16/03/2011 09:17

Yaaaaaawn! Another night of weeing and BHing means I'm knackered again this morning. Am now waiting for the Ocado man in trackie bums and DP's hoodie. Very sexy.

Today I think I'll tackle some of the bedroom. It's such a mess!

Then I've got lunch with an ex-colleague. He's a rather charming divorcee who has a knack of saying just the right thing to make you feel instantly prettier. I could definitely use that kind of boost Grin

SarahJinx · 16/03/2011 09:45

Notanother Thanks for the tip, it's hilarous but makes strange sense and I'll be trying it tonight!

I had a bit of a better night, thanks to - and I hate myself a bit for it - paracetamol, every four hours seems to be the way, hate it though.

Cycle would kill to be you in Trackies and hoody instead of a frock and a full face on! Enjoy your lunch with the charmer, how lovely, I love those kind of men.

Liv Bless your little boy and the pooey pants.

It's my not-so-secret work baby shower today, hopefully there'll be cake.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 16/03/2011 10:27

Morning ladies :)

Any second/third/fourth timers care to tell me what early labour feels like when you haven't been induced? I've had loads of tightenings this morning, some feel like BH but a lot are starting in my back and kind of spreading around to my tummy and down my legs.

I am nesting by proxy - got one bloke here steam cleaning the downstairs carpets, and another doing some painting in the hall. DS and I have de-camped upstairs :)
Lots of my parcels have arrived too, my feeding pillow and what I think must be the nappies I ordered. Can't wait to open them later and get them all washed and sorted Grin

SJ - have a lovely time at work! How many more days have you got to go after today?

Liv - poor DS :( How is he this morning?

SarahJinx · 16/03/2011 10:39

Ali How exciting, when are you due?

I have two and a half weeks left at work (Due 25/4) it's killing me! Particularly sitting still in meetings for an hour at a time on an almost completely numb bottom!

Petalouda · 16/03/2011 10:42

Oooh, Ali, now that sounds exciting! Sounds a lot different to the BH's I've had!

I've just been woken up by the parcel force man - felt the need to make excuses about making the most of mornings. He was lovely though, reminded me of one of our wonderful TA's!

Anyway, showered & dressed now and today's nesting will consist of me attempting to clean out the Leopard Gecko without making a huge mess in the living room!

I think I need to buy a heap of trackies & pj's online today.

I'll be keeping a close eye on the thread today, then, Ali. Do keep us posted!
