Ha BabCNesbitt I thought that what was why I had a "large" pot belly too because I have been eating Haribo (I never eat sweets) which are considerably more calories then I burn at the gym.

Can I actually console myself that I am not just a fatty then and maybe just having the "pop" like Bab, Apples and Elgoldenflower??!!

rebelwithoutababy · 05/04/2011 20:49

Hello all! Had scan this afternoon and all went well: we are a week or so further on than we thought so new DD is 9th October! Everything looked great and LO was waving at us and kicking about. It was so amazing! Thanks for all your words of support: it really helped me!
Btw, I have looked bloated/fat for the last 4 weeks, so I don't think I would be able to notice if I do "pop out" now! I had also got my body to the stage I liked for my wedding in the summer, so it has beena bit of a shock, but I figure it's just doing it's job...
Hugs to all.....xx

Bumpsadaisie · 06/04/2011 08:33

Hi everyone - glad to hear of all the scans.

We had our dating and NT scan this week - looks fine though waiting for full combined bloods/NT results on Thursday. Baby was very wriggly, probably due to my diet of coke and sweets. EDD 19 Oct.

12 weeks today and still feeling v sick - anyone else? I am on cyclizine which is helping. Those further on - has your sickness started to calm down a bit now?

apples82 · 06/04/2011 08:48

Good news rebel and bumps Seems we all have wrigglers! Grin

LittlePebble · 06/04/2011 10:34

Hey all - congrats on all the scans - great news.

rebel we have the same due date now :-)

I've definitely got a tummy now - I can't pull my stomach in any more and look like i've had too many pies.

On the plus side I am starting (fingers crossed) to feel a little bit better....hopeing that week 13 is the week I start to bloom.

bilblio · 06/04/2011 10:58

Hi all - So good to heard about lots of good scans. I'm another with a definite belly now, although again it just looks like I'm putting on the weight I've lost. Monday I wore some trousers that I've not worn for a while, but after my weight loss they were a bit too big for me. They aren't anymore and I had to spend the day with the button undone.
Luckily while I was losing weight rather than buying lots of new clothes I got my Mum to alter my favourites so I've got lots of nice clothes with elasticated waists.
I'll be 12 weeks on Friday and I have my scan. I know I was in maternity jeans by then... and probably several weeks before too.

My queasiness is beginning to ease, but I'm still shattered. If I sit down at night I fall asleep. DH is being very good and putting DD to bed then just waking me up so I can say goodnight to her.

I've got a meeting with one of my bosses tonight. (I have 2 jobs,) and I'm getting a bit anxious. I'm hoping it's just to get my pregnancy risk assessment done, but they're moving lots of staff around and I've got a horrible feeling it might be something to do with that. I don't want to move! Where I work is where people normally get moved to when they're pregnant. All the staff are looking out for me... and shouting at me when I do things they think I shouldn't :) They're very over protective.
I don't want to move and have to start getting to know a new team and clients now.

apples82 · 06/04/2011 11:58

Hope your meeting goes alright bilblio, let us know what it was about in the end! Smile

p.s. I've just bought three pairs of maternity trousers, I have finally succumb and realised that I can't just keep squeezing- i'm gonna get bigger!!! Grin

mpops · 06/04/2011 12:10

It's so nice to log in here and see good news from everyone's latest scans! [grins]

Just got given some antibiotics to kill e.colli, which I'm a bit nervous about, but doc said they're safe. I was at the hospital to do that this morning and the woman sitting next to me started having contractions and they had her in the labour ward within minutes. Blimey!

apples82 · 06/04/2011 12:26

Wow mpops, I hope my labour is that fast! At least you got a sneak preview at things to come Smile

mpops · 06/04/2011 12:33

I was totally terrified apples. I'm in total denial about labour (can you tell this is my first?) and avoid any mention of it. I can't read pregnancy books for fear of being reminded that I'll be in so much pain. Blush

Glowbuggy · 06/04/2011 13:39

Hi Everyone,

Now that I'm past the 12 weeks I'm considering the swine flu vac. Has anyone else had it? I'm just wondering what your thoughts are as I'm not 100% on it.
Thanks

apples82 · 06/04/2011 14:07

mpops my first too, I'm trying to block out about the pain part Smile

elgoldenflower · 06/04/2011 14:53

Glowbuggy I had the vaccination around 6 weeks, doctors said it's best thing as there are no known adverse effects with pregnancy and as the risks to pregnant women are that they can find it very difficult to recover if they get swine (an there have been some fatalities). Had no adverse effects as far as I know. I'm still growing!

However mine was the last vaccine in the medical group as it's seasonal so you may need to wait until the Autumn but worth asking.

Let me warn you though that if you google it you'll see a very different story, your choice ultimately, I went with the government advice.

Glowbuggy · 06/04/2011 15:08

Thanks so much for your response. It looks like I may have missed the boat. I'm just a bit stressed as I'm about to do a lot of international plane travel and they are a breeding ground for germs. I should have done it earlier really.

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 06/04/2011 16:28

Hi all how are you all?
I'm still getting nausea but no more sickness still exhausted though.

This is my 2nd for those worried about it my experience of labour was nowhere near the horror stories you hear all the time! Or I wouldn't be doing it again the sickness at the beginning is much worse IMO.
I was v. Frightened when it came time to push and got myself into a state because of it. It's really just like a Chinese burn. contractions are painful but manageable you'll be fine.
A while before u need to think about it anyway.

PenguinArmy · 06/04/2011 16:57

I agree, on paper my labour sounds like it should have been horrible, but I found it a lot easier than I was expected in terms of managing and pain levels (was painful but not completely unbearable). Also it you get full term, the 'just get this baby out now' feelings kick in, where you just want to stop being pg.

I have heartburn now

mpops · 06/04/2011 16:58

More of this encouraging sort of thing please. Smile

Heartburn here as well (not right now but generally) and awful, awful indigestion which keeps me awake at night. I'm going to try and eat little things more often and not go to bed on a full stomach. It's really killing me.

Bumpsadaisie · 06/04/2011 17:51

Agree about - by the time you are 40 weeks, totally fed up and full of baby and just desperate to get your own body back, labour seems quite appealing. At least it's just one day or so and at the end of it you have a baby and better still you have no baby inside you any more, hooray!

You can't really tell what it will be like for you from watching someone else.

Crawling · 06/04/2011 17:54

I found labour ok to be honest I am not worried about it at all this time. My first was back to back (born facing up) and it wasnt that bad, painful but not unbearable and I felt so happy and on such a high afterwards try not to worry yet.

Crawling · 06/04/2011 17:55

I also agree that I didnt care about the pain I just wanted my body back and to meet my baby.

bilblio · 06/04/2011 20:39

I agree with everyone else. Labour was painful, but drugs (G&A and Pethidine in my case) took the edge off and by the time I was pushing and using the pain I didn't care... even though the pethidine had worn off and they took the G&A off me! Shock I was getting too high :o I tore quite badly too but never even realised till later.

The biggest problem was feeling like I needed to do a poo but being embarrassed and not wanting to.... when I eventually realise that that "little bit of poo" I could feel was DD's head it all became a lot easier :o And this was even after reading the birth story on that antenatal thread of someone who spent about a whole day in their bathroom thinking they were constipated, until eventually their partner dragged them to hospital for either an enema or to give birth... she gave birth not long after arriving on the labour ward :o

I had my meeting at work and I am being moved. :( It's to a house I used to work at so that's okay, but they're also talking about wanting me to do 2 shifts a week.

I currently have 2 jobs, on my main job I alternate between a 3 and 4 day week. My other job I do either a sleep in shift or 1 long 8-8:30 day. I feel like I'm barely around for DD as it is... or too tired to do much with her, but if I have to start doing 2 shifts a week it will be even worse. :(

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 06/04/2011 21:21

bilblio can you not tell them you can't take on any more hours that seems like a lot of work especially if you already have DC.

i also tore in labour and didn't even notice.

Fleecy · 06/04/2011 22:03

I tore in labour and didn't notice either edwardoreric (definitely Eric BTW Grin) so glad it's not just me!

Yes it hurts but wow, the feeling afterwards is incomparable. I don't think I'll have that euphoria this time due to ELCS though - very mixed feelings.

biblio that doesn't sound good. Can you say no?

I popped out a while ago and look about 5mo gone now but I like it because I know by the time I@m actually 5mo I will be massive all over so this is how I'd like to be, no weight gain, just a bump. Ah well!

Fleecy · 06/04/2011 22:04

Oh, who was it who didn't have the nuchal thing? We had dating scan but no nuchal test and nobody put any pressure on us.

mumtobee · 06/04/2011 22:07

I only had a tens machine during labour, no other pain relief, and I have a friend who gave birth twice with nothing - not even a tens machine!!
Agree with it feeling like a chinese burn, I had torn in 3 places but didn't even realise until afterwards. MS was almost enough to put me off having a 2nd baby, far worse than the birth!!
