OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
rebelwithoutababy · 29/03/2011 12:36

Hi all,
Thanks for words of support re: cramps. I know what you mean pebble, I manage to worry about having symptoms, not having symptoms, being too big already, not being big enough....good to know I'm not alone though! Alicebw, me and DH both want to know, but I know some friends who thought they did too, and then when it got to 20w scan, changed their minds...
Got my blood tests for triple test this afternoon, and only a week til scan now....good luck to all those having scans in next few days! xx

rebelwithoutababy · 29/03/2011 12:39

Just another quickie. My best friend, who has been in Africa for the last 7 months, but still has an uncanny ability to say all the right things to me just wrote me a lovely email and I thought I would share her last comment with you all (it has just made me cry!) as it is really appropriate for all us worriers. Her uncle read it as part of the sermon at her wedding:

"All will be well, and all will be well and all manner of things shall be well."

MagGirl · 29/03/2011 12:44

Am due mid Nov and have only just joined so will be tuning in regularly to find out how you guys who are just ahead of me are doing!

Bumpsadaisie · 29/03/2011 13:09

So sorry to hear about your losses, gimmegimme and purpletoes. It must be devasting.

We will definitely find out if we can - but then we are a bit bonkers like that (DD had a name from her 20 week scan and for us it was just the right thing although most people would think that barking mad I am sure. For me it just helped me bond with her).

Rebelwithoutababy - I am sure everything will be fine. Don't forget these little creatures have a powerful instinct towards life and health if it is at all possible. They do it all themselves, we don't have to do it for them (we just have to refrain from doing really stupid things like smoking). This was a revelation to me and quite a relief to feel that the responsibility for little bean that turned out to be DD was not really mine - it was all down to her!

Renaissance227 · 29/03/2011 13:46

Has anyone else been feeling dizzy?
I feel queasy (or full on sick!) all the time and have recently started feeling really dizzy every now and again. Not seeing the midwife until Friday and can't wait just for my first scan just so I know everything is ok.

sunface · 29/03/2011 13:47

hi all, this will be our 3rd, 2 DD's already, and bizarrely i'd rather not find out the sex! DP thinks i'm mad! i've just had the results from my nuchal and the hCG and PAPP-A bloods that were taken and they've given me a 1in4,800 of downs ie very low risk, so i'm very relieved. they are sending through the results in the next couple of days (had to get scan privately as they don't do it in my region) so no doubt i'll be able to google myself into a worried frenzy regardless of what i've just been told!!

Hope everyone else ok, i'm still getting a lot of CM (sorry if thats TMI) anyone else?!

apples82 · 29/03/2011 14:33

mumtobe hope the scan tomorrow goes well, mine is a week today and i'm gagging with excitement and nervousness.

Hope everyone has happy scans and over the next couple of weeks we can all hopefully share happy news Smile

Have a look at my scan photo here.

Crawling · 29/03/2011 15:28

Hi I have been reading but not posting, I went to physio and she said I have SPD. My son also has parvo virus so I am waiting for tests to see if I have it, but I have also been ill, amd if I do I will have to have regular scans to make sure my baby hasn't caught it, I also have my 12week scan Monday Smile.

sunface · 29/03/2011 15:38

aw crawling hope you're not in too much pain? Good luck with the scan, it;s just amazing to see your bean wriggling around in there. Makes it all real xx

BB2 · 29/03/2011 15:40

Hello all,

Sorry for the me post - had scan today and I have two little beans in there. Am in a fair bit of shock and burst into tears when I saw them both there, one looked like a real trouble maker playing with it's ears and twisting around and the other one fast asleep! Lord help me when they are both born! But can't get my head round being a mummy to three children this year!

We won't find out the sex, didn't with DS1 and wont with these two!

Hello to everyone xxx

Bumpsadaisie · 29/03/2011 15:43

Oh blimey BB2! What a shock!

DH and I were ruminating this weekend on how we would react if we had twins - sheer terror and joy mixed together, I guess is how you are feeling!

Its a daunting prospect - but hey! aren't you clever! Two babies at once! And what a great way to get a lovely big family very quickly! Yes it will be hard work, but you'll get through it. Grin and Shock

Bumpsadaisie · 29/03/2011 15:44

PS are they identical BB2?

BB2 · 29/03/2011 15:49

Thanks Bumpsadaisie, that's pretty much where I am somewhere between euphoria and poo-my-pants scared but it will be ok (she says).

Nope they are not identical, two separate sacs - am mostly excited about the monthly scans from 20 weeks! yay!

Liabella · 29/03/2011 16:15

Wow BB2 - congratulations - that's so exciting!

I finally met my midwife today and have my booking-in next Thursday and scan on the 11th. We're really hoping all is well and, if it is, we'll be announcing the pregnancy at our wedding the week after the scan. It's so exciting, but until I know all is well, I can't let myself feel too certain. I told the midwife I haven't had any symptoms and she said it might just be because I'm focussing on the wedding!

Thanks for sharing your scan photo Alicebw - it must be wonderful to look at.

LittlePebble · 29/03/2011 16:15

Wow BB2 - scary but HOW EXCITING!!

That's great - yay well done you 'does a little dance down the bus'

Renaissance yes I have now graduated from simply feeling nauseous to this week nausea and dizziness...was hoping that week 12 would bring a new me but not quite yet. Fingers crossed it's week 13 when I start to bloom!

We're not finding out the sex - I want the moment when the doctor announces 'it's a girl/boy' like in the movies Grin

sunface · 29/03/2011 16:17

wow BB2 Double Congratulations!!! How exciting!!!!!

chocolatehobnobs · 29/03/2011 16:38

Hello everyone (waving around the bus) what a lot of us. Due to 30th oct first baby. Its exciing to hear how you're all getting on. My sickness has mostly gone now hurrah and I've got booking in on saturday -finally and the hideous constipation is better too .less tired too. Think I'm going to have to find a fetal doppler to check heartbeat now that the symptoms of preggo have gone - no bleeding though!

chocolatehobnobs · 29/03/2011 16:40

Bb2 that is really exciting news!

Tinyeyes · 29/03/2011 16:53

Hi all, I've been following this thread since the beginning but was too nervous to join in earlier in case I jinxed anything! It's been so so helpful reading what everyone else us going through, every time something strange happens I can see it's happening to at least two other people at the same time which is reassuring!

Anyway this is my first pg, I'm due somewhere in the second week of oct but have my scan this Friday to find out exactly when as well as if everything's ok! I can't concentrate at work AT ALL in the run-up, I'll just have to work double hard next week ;)

Huge congratulations BB2, I just spent the weekend with a friend who is due to have twins soon and it's amazing!

Sorry for the long post everyone, I promise not to lurk anymore and post things a big more often Grin

Engelsmeisje · 29/03/2011 17:23

Hi again everyone. Has taken me a fair while to catch up on reading the thread. What a full bus!

We had our scan last Thursday and got a new EDD of 18 October. Bean was jumping around. Was very very exciting!

Finally decided to start sharing the good news. DPs family were really pleased and enthusiastic - think they've been waiting for us to tell them, even though they didn't know we were trying. We're the only people on his side of the family without kids.

My family was actually a bit weird. Live abroad so went back to the UK for the weekend to surprise them. We showed them a video of the scan without telling them what it was. My dad and my brother didn't say anything, not even congratulations, or give us a hug or anything. My mum (when she eventually worked out was going on!) did give me a hug and say how lovely, but was nowhere near as enthusiastic as my MIL.

Are my family just weird?! (apart from my sister who just looked at the scan photo, screamed, and hugged me). Remember someone else having the same reaction from their dad.

Think they were all in shock as they weren't expecting it. None of my cousins/siblings have kids yet.

Still, just one sister left to tell (she's in the Southern Hemisphere so have to get my times right to get her on the phone!) and then can finally spill the beans at work.

This has been the longest 7 weeks of my life!!!!

GemsyT · 29/03/2011 17:45

I'm due on October 1st! Hello! xx

Crawling · 29/03/2011 18:18

Thanks sunface The pain comes and goes ATM I am worried about how I will cope with two DC if I get bad enough to need crutches but I am sure I will, others manage with it Smile.

Congrats to newbies and BB2 Smile

Crawling · 29/03/2011 18:30

Oh and I wasnt going to find out but as DS (he doesnt know yet) keeps asking for a brother I might find out so he is prepred in advance.

Penelope1980 · 29/03/2011 20:23

Wow BB2 - between you and Arabella that's two lots of twins on the bus. I wonder if that's the same as what's statistically likely?

I have had fun telling people since the 12 week scan but it's been a surprise who as reacted in a lovely way, and who hasn't. I have to remind myself that just because it's exciting for me, it isn't exciting for everyone else.

I plan on finding out what gender it is, what about you lot? I want a pronoun to call it, and like the idea of knowing really. In NZ where I am from finding out is the norm though, whereas I've noticed it's more split down the middle in the UK.
