monkeybubbles, good luck my dear. Let us know how it goes.

Janzen · 17/03/2011 10:29

I hope everything is okay, Monkeybubbles. I'm sure that everything is going to be okay.

When I had a bleed this Sunday the GP on call booked me in for a scan the next morning at the local hospital. A scan definitely put my mind at ease. Perhaps you could ask your GP/midwife to arrange a scan?

BabCNesbitt · 17/03/2011 10:31

Sorry, everyone, for going off on a pathetic moan here, but I'm just really fed up with being tired all the sodding time. I know it'll pass, I know it's a sign of my body doing what it should be doing, but I'm trying to do a 7,000 word essay that needs to be written by mid-April, and I can barely stay awake by the time I get home from work, let alone give a toss about the essay :(

And DH's sister called last night to say that she's pregnant and due a fortnight after me. Which is great, and she's lovely, but I'm being pathetic and Envy because she lives in the same town (in the US) as DH's parents, and so I've been worried they'll be more interested in her kid than in this wee yin, and that she'll have support that we just won't be able to have (no desire to move to the Midwest!) And then I feel like a total bitch for being so mean-spirited :(

Sorry, sorry, sorry for whining so much Blush

monkeybubbles · 17/03/2011 11:00

thank you everyone, rang midwife and she was completely unhelpful and just said to go to A&E. Decided to wait until I saw my GP at 10am, and she was much more helpful. She is referring straight to EPU for a scan, so now I'm just waiting by the phone to hear when that will be. She's also told me to rest and not exert myself and given me some different meds for my asthma.

apples82 · 17/03/2011 11:08

Grr for unhelpful MW monkeybubbles, good luck with the EPU. Try not to stress yourself out worrying, 99/100 it is perfectly fine Smile.

AgBag · 17/03/2011 11:34

Hope the scan goes well monkeybubbles x

sunface · 17/03/2011 11:41

hope all goes well monkeybubbles thinking of you x

happymummytobe · 17/03/2011 12:19

Mumma2b I HATE needles. And I had to have 3 vials of blood taken. And do you know what? It was fine! The nurse doing it does nothing else all day every day and I really barely felt it and it was all over quickly. I didn't even cry (normally I can't help myself). I was so nervous, but afterwards I felt like a super hero for being so brave Grin

arabella Enormous congratulations! I'm so thrilled for you. You'll be fine - take it one day at a time and try to relax as much as possible! Oh, and take up every offer of help that comes your way once the babies are here!

monkeybubbles I do hope everything is ok. What a dreadfully worrying time, but we're all behind you.

buffy Just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about your Grandad. But I have no doubt that he knows your lovely news Smile

I'm almost 10 weeks (think I'm a couple of days earlier than the dates suggest) and very tired. The queasiness is dying down during the day but I still feel rubbish in the evenings.

I've had a really bad sharp pain at the bottom of my back (top of my bottom) on the right hand side for a few days. Thoughts from friends are that it might be because my ligaments are softening due to the pregnancy and I've strained something. Any thoughts or advice? It's really painful!

3 weeks until my 12 week scan. Really can't wait!

xxx

sodthehousework · 17/03/2011 12:41

Hi All, hope everyone is doing ok and coping with all the PG symptoms! Hope everything goes well monkeybubbles.

I am 10 weeks tomorrow and have felt shattered this week! I only work two days and one evening and I can't keep my eyes open after lunchtime. Am enjoying a lazy day today looking after my son. Have my scan on 1st april and then first appt with the high risk pregnancy unit on 14th as I have chronic renal disease and high blood pressure as a result of this. Everything was fine with my first pregnancy, was induced at 39 weeks, so hoping this one goes smoothly and may be I'll get a chance to feel what labour is like when it starts of its own accord!
Have been craving vinegary stuff loads, I must get some pickled onions!!
all the best to everyone on the bus!

BB2 · 17/03/2011 13:29

Sorry to come in with 'me question' straight away but has anyone else been experiencing the opposite of constipation in this part of the pregnancy? Blush

BB2 · 17/03/2011 13:30

sodthehousework fingers crossed all will be Ok. I'm working from home today (thank goodness as I feel very rough) and am mostly sat on the sofa with my laptop pretending to be very busy!!

sunface · 17/03/2011 13:51

hey BB2 - yup during week 5 - 8 i had really bad 'opposite of constipation' going on. To the point where i thought i had a tummy bug! Now back to my normal constipation though!!! 12weeks on sunday - yikes!

BB2 · 17/03/2011 14:25

Thanks sunface, mine has been off and on since about 5 weeks, although since the start more than my non-pregnant days, thought it might be the folic acid?

I'm 12 weeks Sunday too according to my dates- will be interesting to see what scan shows and me and mw are a week apart on dates at the moment (although I was right with DS and he came 1 day after my dates and 6 after mw's)!

sunface · 17/03/2011 14:33

yeah i did think it might be the Pregnacare i was taking.... just another great symptom i guess! ooo we must be due around a similar date. This will be my 3rd, DC1 was 5 days over and DC2 bang on the due date, so who knows with this one! When is your scan? mine is next week.....

AgBag · 17/03/2011 15:00

Hi BB2 and sunface. I am also getting the 'opposite of constipation'. I also thought it might be the pregnacare tablets, but I tried swapping to just folic acid tabs for a couple of days which made no difference. I dont know if it could be the folic acid. Would be interested to hear if you find it is. I am getting a lot of stomach acid/heart burn and my morning vomit is just stomach acid. I'm getting very sick, so I guess my general stomach/gastro system is generally messed up. I often have a sensitive stomach anyway... Hope its not too bad for you and you're finding it manageable. The most important thing I think is to stay hydrated.

BabCNesbitt · 17/03/2011 15:47

BB2 - yes! So it's not just a stomach bug? I feel sorry for my colleagues Blush

Penelope1980 · 17/03/2011 19:26

BB2 yes, I've either had that, or severe constipation for the last few weeks - it's either one or the other, no happy medium.

That reminds me - what are the parts of pregnancy that no-one really talks about that you are experiencing? Mine is that, lots of pimples, and I don't know if it's my imagination but swear my hair is growing more quickly

Penelope1980 · 17/03/2011 19:27

And mine's def not from folic acid, as I started taking that when I was TTC and never had a problem on that front.

BB2 · 17/03/2011 22:05

sunface my dates make me 2nd but mw put me at 8/9th. Scan is on 29th. Can't wait. Last time they bought me forward from my dates so wonder what this time will bring.

BabyCNesbitt Grin - me too, it's one end or the other at the moment!!

Penelope hmmm, that's really it, I have completely lost my sex drive this time round (which I didn't with the first pg Blush) but that may be down to the sickness, opposite constipation, and the fact that we are living with my parents until our house is ready in 2 weeks Grin. But other than those two things it's just severe nausea and tiredness. Do you know what you are having, according to the old wives tales hair growth means a boy (although didn't really apply to me in my last pg and I had a very boyish boy!)

Maybe it's just the hormones then!! I shouldn't really complain as in my non-pg life I struggle in that area, but maybe something in the middle would have been a bit nice Hmm.

Blimey 10 o'clock - WAY past my bed time xx Night all

apples82 · 18/03/2011 07:51

Good morning all,

Well I have my MW booking appointment today. It's funny, since getting those two magical lines on a stick, i've been obsessing about appointments, whens my MW app? When's my scan?

Now, if anything, I don't want anything. Sad

My MW is gonna ask me alot of questions, but no one has "told me " i've pregnant yet. I don't wanna get my hopes up talking about a future LO, before anyone's told me i'm gonna have a LO!

Boo. My head is screwy. Confused

elgoldenflower · 18/03/2011 08:07

Morning all,

apples I totally understand your feelings about someone else confirming that you're pg. Just wanted to let you know that the MW might not do that. At my booking in appt (with a community MW standing in for what will be my usual MW and supporting a student) they made me feel like they wouldn't take my pg seriously until after a scan when 'they'll see if it's viable'.

I've had a few problems and apart from GPs the med professions don't seem to want to treat me because it's only my first trimester and insist on making appts in my 2nd trimester instead.

I've found this really frustrating but it's beginning to make me realise that DP and I need to be there for each other and just enjoy this time and not let other people get in the way. People say all sorts of annoying stuff and I'm finding my maternal instincts are making me ultra-protective so I think I'd better begin letting it wash over me rather than taking it all on board.

Sorry for long post, just wanted to encourage you to embrace your pregnancy despite being early because the MWs might not help you. That said I really hope you have a better experience than mine.

apples82 · 18/03/2011 08:11

Thank you elgoldenflower, thats probably my hesitancy right now. I want to "know" that i'm pregnant, but i'm dreading the whole medical pregnancy wheel starting. My impression so far is that it's very impersonal. I'm not expecting a red carpet being roled up, women have had babies since the dawn of time, but this is my first, and i'm a little scared!

Thanks for your words of encouragement. I'll let you all know how the MW appointment goes at 4pm ish.

kateepie2 · 18/03/2011 08:23

Did you have your scan monkeybubbles ? keeping fingers crossed for you.

Has anyone had an early scan on here? I'm booked in for one this afternoon as I had some bloody discharge yesterday... not really sure what to expect!

Any thoughts would be appreciated (I'm 9+6)

xx

BB2 · 18/03/2011 09:41

apples my mw is great and not impersonal at all so don't worry, you might have a really, very lovely one! And you can ask for a different one if you don't feel they are supportive. I did that with my last pg.

elgoldneflower Shock that is outrageous, I can't believe they said that!! I would have been furious!

kateepie fingers crossed all ok and you see your little bean floating about, discharge can come and go throughout pregnancy so hopefully just that. Let us know how you get on.

apples82 · 18/03/2011 09:44

Fingers crossed!!!

Good luck kateepie, let us know how it goes.
