Hi rebel. I had the exact same fear run through my mind this morning when I realised I had been feeling 'normal' for at least 24 hours. The tiredness came back in the afternoon, and the nausea is coming back now.. I am 8 weeks too, and its reassuring that other people are experiencing the same gaps in symptoms..

Bouncyminky · 08/03/2011 19:48

Sunface - I've been having fluttery kicks all day today. I am 10 weeks rme and this is my second. I thought too early but couldn't have been rumbly tummy all day. I felt dd1 when I was 12 weeks. It was quite distracting when I was trying to work!

Bouncyminky · 08/03/2011 19:49

Tomorrow not rme. Oops

daimbardiva · 08/03/2011 20:19

I'm finding that I tend to have one day off, one day on in terms of feeling nauseous and knackered - today was a day off!

bilblio · 08/03/2011 21:27

rebel I've had day's where I've felt normal, and panicked too. Then the nausea and tiredness have come back with a vengeance, so try not to worry.

kateepie I didn't have any of the Down's screening tests last time and won't this time either. I work with people with Learning Disabilities and DH has too. I wouldn't abort if I found out I was having a child with Down's so a very sensible MW pointed out there was no point having the initial test as if the results came back as high it would just be something else to worry about.
I'm not sure what we'd do if something different came up on the anomaly scan.

I went to the Dr's yesterday because I've been having a lot of trouble breathing and also palpatations. I had a heart murmur last time I was pregnant which didn't cause any problems and I have mild asthma but I've never felt like this without it being accompanied by a heavy cold.
My heart is fine and my chest is clear thankfully. He thinks I might be anaemic. My booking in appointment is next week so I'm waiting till then for the blood tests and I'm trying it get some iron rich food inside me.

mumtobee · 08/03/2011 21:58

rebel - I felt the same at the weekend, really worried something was wrong as I don't feel pg enough, my MS was dreadful with my first and this time it's only slight nausea first thing. Also remember having a MC scare during my first pg and my MS symptoms totally disappeared - this was around 7 weeks - which made me feel even more sure something was wrong (in reality it may have been because I was told to do nothing for a few days, so no tiredness to make me nauseous!) - everything was absolutely fine!

kateepie - I had all the tests (but not invasive) with my last pg - although I was sure I wouldn't have terminated I felt it was sensible so that if there had been an issue I could have the months before the birth to prepare myself.

Just a week to go before my MW checking in app - it can't come soon enough!!

Penelope1980 · 09/03/2011 05:55

kateepie I have decided to have the non-invasive downs test - I wouldn't abort anyway or get the invasive ones, but if it came back with a high chance, I would have time do to some research and maybe even talk to people with downs kids to make me feel better about it. I'd also make sure everyone I knew knew that I am ok with a downs baby - someone at DH's work had a downs baby and everyone kept talking about what a tragedy it was. I'd hate people to talk like that about my baby, so would want them to know I was OK with it.

Sorry if that sounded preachy! Smile I have just given it a lot of thought.

BackwardsInHighHeels · 09/03/2011 09:18

Hello,

Mind if I hope aboard?

I'm 10+3 weeks today. EDD 2/10/11. I'm 34 and this is my first pregnancy.

I'm on tenterhooks for my NT/dating scan in two weeks because there's a suspicion I might have more than one on board.

Quite apart from there being fraternal twins on both sides of my family (and my mum being a FT), I'm a bit podgy, nearly 35, have been suffering hideous nausea and fatigue and despite losing nearly half a stone because of the nausea, my stomach seems to be growing every day!

I'd be fine with either one or two (there's a bit of me that kinda wishes it's twins so I can have a ready made family and not have to go through this early stage again in the future), but I just want to know a) how many and b) that everything's okay in there.

Classic first timer paranoia I guess :)

dribbleface · 09/03/2011 11:30

Bouncyminky and sunface - I felt DS1 move at 13 weeks, was convinced last night i felt something when laying still (10+3). How exciting!

kateepie2 · 09/03/2011 11:52

Thanks penelope and mumtobee I don't think I could terminate either (though DP does feel its an option, it would ultimately be my decision). I consented to the NT scan, and just hope I fall into the low risk category!

backwards I feel like I am getting bigger every day too! I asked the MW if the bloat would go away before the bump, but apparently not, so I suspect I will get huge...

sunface · 09/03/2011 12:12

hi all, are the non invasive tests blood tests? i only ask as given my age (37) i'll be asked if i want to have an amnio at some point no doubt. Do you normally get the bloods done first and then make that decision (sorry can't remember from my last pregnancy!).

i'm definately getting a bump too (seems so ridiculous at 10wks!) and sure i'm feeling stretching kind of movements all very odd, but natural i'm sure.... :)

LittlePebble · 09/03/2011 15:12

backwardsinhighheels
Snap - 34 and first PG too - although don't think I'll be having twins, no history in our families. How exciting though!

sunface do you think you'll definitely have to have an amnio - my midwife seemed to poo poo the idea of being high risk over 35 - she said she's got lots of first time mums at over 40 having healthy babies....

Just booked scan today - 31st march and counting....Grin

Tamashii · 09/03/2011 15:57

Hi everyone and hello to even MORE new BFPs!!!! :D

sunface I am 35 and asked my GP about the possibility of more invasive tests but he was a bit Hmm and started on about how in today's advanced medical world 35 and thereabouts isn't as high risk as a decade or more ago. My friend recently had her 2nd DC and she was 36 when she gave birth. She had the blood tests done first and when they came back low risk she wasn't offered any further invasive tests. I am just assuming from this that if your bloods come back low risk then they just carry on as normal. I think she did get the nuchal fold measurement at her first scan though. Not sure how many weeks she was at that point but it just seemed to be part of it all and not due to her age. Not totally sure about that but I know she didn't have amnio. Hope this helps a bit. I guess it's always better when you actually get to talk to the MW though :)

I am starting to get really nervous about the 12 week scan today. I have my travel sickness bands on today and have positioned them a bit lower than they were so I actually managed to do a full shop at the supermarket AND eat a whole sandwich for lunch!!! I think since I feel a bit human today my mind is on other things rather just functioning at base level and I am getting worried there will be something wrong.

Twins also run in my family backwardsinhighheels - how exciting for you! Do you just have a gut feeling that there may be twins? I have awful morning sickness too but I think it's just that I forgot how ill you can get being in the first semester. My friend was telling me she is sure I was sick until 20 weeks with DS!!! :o WHY would she tell me that!!!! I think I can cope if these travel sickness bands are really working though.

I wonder who will be first with the 12 week scan. I can't believe some of us are nearly there! Milestone 1 I guess... Good luck to everyone.

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 09/03/2011 16:24

Hi all,

I am nearly 7 weeks now and haven't yet contacted the midwives to get on the baby bandwagon. Hmm Really should sort it out!

I was considering an OSCAR with this child (didn't with my first) but was wondering whether the results might paint more of a negative picture than would actually be the case IYSWIM. I am 40 next month so already 'high risk'. Does anyone know if my age be the dominating factor in the probability result given? TBH DH is more keen than me. I am more than happy to bury my head in the sand see what happens!

drivencrazy · 09/03/2011 19:39

I had some bleeding this morning after pains laast night. Went epu and had an emergancy scan. I thought i was 7.6 fromn LMP but they have dated it as 6.2 and the due date on the scan pic is later too. Alls fine though heard the heartbeat was such a relief. Which dates should i be using??

Bluetinkerbell · 09/03/2011 19:54

I had my booking appointment today... very pleased with the MW, she was very friendly... now just have to wait for my letter with the scanning date to arrive... very exciting...

mumtobee · 09/03/2011 20:53

drivencrazy - glad everything's ok - what a relief! In terms of dates your 12 week scan will give you a definite one as they'll go by the size of the baby at that point.

6 days and counting until my booking in app....

BackwardsInHighHeels · 10/03/2011 09:04

kateepie2 our landlord has cough thoughtfully provided us with two sets of double door mirrored wardrobes in our bedroom, so every morning I wake up to the sight of my (not small to begin with) belly getting bigger. I'm sure part of this is bloat, but it's getting more solid by the day. Can't imagine how big this is going to get if it is twins! Shock

LittlePebble I wobble between excitement and sheer terror at the thought of twins, and absolutely can't wait for my scan.

Tamashii Yeah. I know it makes no sense at all, and it's probably only one, but I just have this funny feeling, y'know? I had no idea what I was getting myself into - I think I thought that because it was so little that the first trimester would be a breeze. How wrong I was! Really hoping this doesn't go on much beyond the first trimester - not sure I could cope!

My scan is on the 22nd. Counting the days!

silverangel · 10/03/2011 09:50

Hi everyone, can I join you please?!

I'm 10+2 with id twins, found out at an early scan at 8 weeks (mmc last year and freaking myself out something had gone wrong!). Have my 12 week scan a week on Tuesday, apprehensive and excited all at the same time.

Hope you are all doing ok!

x

BB2 · 10/03/2011 10:14

Sliver - identical twins - how exciting. I was sure it was twins when I first found out but now not so sure - we will find out at 12 week scan I get!! I forgot how hard this part of the pg was and have told DH this is the last one (he wants 6 kids!!!) so he is hoping for triplets! Shock

I REALLY want a scan now but at 10 weeks I figure I may as well wait for the 12 week one.

TOUCH WOOD ms seems to have died down this week but am 4 days into the anti sickness tablets which I think are kicking in.

Anyone else craving strawberry milkshake and ice cream???

drivencrazy, so glad everything is ok xxx

mpops · 10/03/2011 10:36

Welcome silverangel! Are you the first one on here with confirmed twins? That's lovely.

BB2, I've started drinking Frijj choc milkshakes for some reason. It's the only sweet thing that I can stomach but I'm also craving it to the point where it's my first thought as soon as I open my eyes in the morning! Isn't pregnancy funny?

BB2 · 10/03/2011 12:20

mpops - with my first pg, I used to keep cadbury's buttons by the bed as I needed them as soon as I woke up!!!

BabCNesbitt · 10/03/2011 13:39

Hello, ladies - forgot to check in for a few days. Exciting to read about bumps emerging! I've been astonished at just how exhausted I've been feeling over the last week or so. I'm in the final year of a part-time degree, too, and I'm meant to be writing essays during the evenings, but when I get home from work, all I feel capable of doing is passing out on the couch. Which isn't terribly productive.

BB2, I've been scarfing down raspberry Swedish Glace by the tub for the last week or two... Blush

Molybdenum · 10/03/2011 14:11

Had my dating scan this morning and found out I am a little further ahead than anticipated, giving me a new due date of September 26! Do I have to leave the thread???

sunface · 10/03/2011 14:57

wow how exciting Molybdenum !!!! i've been starting to think that my dates might be off too as i'm feeling huge. 11weeks on sunday according to the doc, but got scan in 2 weeks time......
