Okay I definately need to chase up my booking appointment now! I haven't heard anything from anyone, despite self-referring to two hospitals now! Will ring them tomorrow to chase...fingers crossed Hmm

lovemylittlebean · 02/03/2011 17:13

Hello everyone!

Welcome to all the new BFPs!! Congratulations!

Just spent an hour catching up with all the posts, can't believe how many of us there are, it's going to be so exciting when it gets to sept/oct and they all start arriving!

All the lucozade addicts, mines similar but flat lemonade! I also find sucking boiled sweets throughout the day really helps with the nausea. I normally never ever drink sugary drinks so I'm sure by the time this bean's arrived all my teeth will have fallen out!

Still really sick and tired, can't wait for 12 weeks to come and go (I've actually lost 1 stone since Jan!!)

Anyway, enough waffle for now! Hugs to all and St Davids

lovemylittlebean · 02/03/2011 17:14

Ooohh p.s. we've got our booking in appointment this saturday woohoo!!

Engelsmeisje · 02/03/2011 17:15

Sorry I've been away so long!

I may have complained two weeks ago about no symptoms...have well and truly had my comeuppance! Have had horrible MS for the last week on and off. One day I'm fine and the next day feeling terrible (today is a good day!).

Was also on a course last weekend with a colleague and really couldn't keep it to myself!

Planning our trip back to the UK so we can tell my folks face-to-face.

Got our booking appointment and scan booked for 23rd and 24th March, so I'll be 10w+4.

It's all feeling pretty real now!

seasaltbaby · 02/03/2011 17:55

Thanks for the advice katiepie & onadietcokebreak might just say its doctors appointment & ask for time off.

bilblio your story about your SIL is what I'm really worrying about as I don't feel preggers at all really, funny how u can wish to feel sick! I keep telling myself early days, only 5+5
handdivedscallops I think we have same dates!

Bluetinkerbell · 02/03/2011 18:12

I got a phone call from the midwife today... booking appointment next Wednesday! yay!
is it normal that your DH is at the booking appointment or not? she didn't ask if he wanted or will be there...

cupofteaplease · 02/03/2011 18:43

Hi all.

I was back at work today after half term, was a bit of a shock to the system!

I wonder if it was because I was on my feet all day, but I felt like my period was about to start. It felt sort of achy and heavy down below. Has anyone else had this? I'm sitting down now and it feels fine. I can't wait until Saturday for my reassurance scan.

Hope everyone is well.

Bluetinkerbell · 02/03/2011 18:54

cupofteaplease I had the same today! been on my feet all day, and feel really achy...

having a rest on the sofa now...

kateepie2 · 02/03/2011 20:14

bluetinkerbell I was told that it was a solo appointment, so had to go on my own, but it may vary. DP will be there at the scan though. Can't wait to get a date for that!

kateepie2 · 02/03/2011 20:15

sorry, should have read before I posted... have to go on my own... I haven't had it yet!

Bluetinkerbell · 02/03/2011 21:46

ah well... the MW is coming to our place... and DH will be home...
I can always send him upstairs if he shouldn't be there Wink

onadietcokebreak · 02/03/2011 21:54

Dp can be at booking appt however do except midwife to try and discreetly get you on your own so she can check if there are any domestic abuse issues.

Bluetinkerbell · 02/03/2011 22:06

aha good to know...

Bouncyminky · 02/03/2011 22:42

Had my booking appt today at nine weeks. Weird, Mw and I agree on nine weeks but she says I am due 7th oct not 5th as online calcs. Good to start the process but feels like pg will drag. Last time I swotted and read all info so feels like nothing to do this time but wait. Can't wait for twelve weeks to let dd and rest of world know!

Bouncyminky · 02/03/2011 22:44

Meant to say dh was there at booking. I saw she had a question on screen re. Relationship issues but she didn't ask us - maybe because we were there together and she could see us getting on?

onadietcokebreak · 03/03/2011 07:43

Bouncy- glad appt went well.

Hopefully she will check relationship status at another appt. It does annoy me the amount if health professionals who gloss over the question! I was annoyed by the assumption all was well in my relationship because I know that if it wasn't and I was vulnerable that assumption would put me off seeking help.

I have done some work with domestic abuse victims and time and time again they say I could tell the midwife/hv cos they thought he was nice and wouldn't believe me.

elgoldenflower · 03/03/2011 09:27

Looking forward to my booking in appt in couple of weeks.

I'm absolutely shattered today, despite sleeping really well. Been hitting and kicking DP in my sleep it seems (very vivid dreams, was cycling in Stockholm last night?!?). Really wish I didn't have to work today, or tomorrow, or Saturday. Roll on Sunday!

Got my Theraline pillow and a sleep bra yesterday so think these both helped me sleep, nice not to have to hold my boobs in place when I go downstairs in the morning (sorry if TMI)!

Morning sickness was awful yesterday, only wanted to eat starchy salty food - and pears, anything else makes me feel even sicker. It's better this morning so far but I seem to be worse in the evenings.

Hoping everyone's bumps are healthy, strong and growing well.

bilblio · 03/03/2011 11:44

Another one starting to crave salty things... or probably more accurately, vinegar. Having been fine all day the MS really kicked in last night. DH had made me a lovely tangine (cous cous, chick peas, tomatoes.) But I couldn't face it. DD's sausage, egg and waffle looked far more tempting. I ended up going to bed at 6 for an hour then later had a yummy salt & vinegar crisp butty.

I've been munching on chocolate digestives all morning which has kept me from rushing out of my meeting. Lunch is meant to be cous cous, but I'm going to get a bread roll from the butty van to go with the salt & vinegar crisps I have in the car.

I think it's safe to say i'm not doing slimming world at the moment. :o

elgoldenflower · 03/03/2011 11:54

Rant warning!

I am sick to the eye teeth of people telling me not to count my chickens, granted I have told a few people about my pregnancy, for good reasons though, I have told a few of my (usually more supportive) friends and relatives because I don't have a mother to support me (she died when I was 12). So it would be nice if those people could cope with me talking through the myriad of things I am now worrying about and trying to make sure I have covered without interrupting with - don't count your chickens.

I Blooming Know It Might Not Be OK!!!!! I'm the one worrying about every twinge, every change in symptoms, checking for blood every time I wipe, agonising over swine flu vacinnations. Also it's my body that feels completely different, that has new limitations that make me constantly think about being PG, please people can you just listen to me, be reassuring without judging me for even counting it as a pregnancy before I'm 12 weeks. Rarrrrrrrrr!

Sorry folks, had to get that off my chest, probably sounds really spoilt and irritable - might be hormones. Wish I could just keep my mouth shut, when will I learn?

onadietcokebreak · 03/03/2011 12:08

Rant away! I feel the same!

My DP isnt happy I have told a few people. My defense is these people are the ones who will support me if any thing goes wrong.

He knows I fully aware of the risk too esp as a close friend has had multiple mcs which has been awful to witness.

Plus I have had to tell some people at work placement because of health concerns

elgoldenflower · 03/03/2011 12:58

Thanks cokebreak Smile

mpops · 03/03/2011 16:11

I think you're right to rant, elgoldenflower. If anyone told me that, I'd be furious too. All you want it to share your good news and have a shoulder to cry on if things go wrong (God forbid!). How can anyone not understand that? It's so inappropriate to be telling an expectant mother "don't count your chickens". After all, anything can happen any time of your life. We don't go around telling people who are excited "don't count your chickens!". Arrgh. I've been very lucky in that the 7-8 people I've told have been extremely supportive and lovely about it.

knittymum · 03/03/2011 16:11

elgoldenflower I completely understand. The last two times we didn't tell anyone, but this time I said i wanted to tell my parents, in case anything happened, and my best friend guessed the other day when I was feeling sick and dizzy. But he's saying that we need to tell the kids (9 and 6) first before telling his mother. He doesn't seem to understand either that I don't want to tell the kids yet in case anything goes wrong, because of course I wouldn't look to them for support in the same way I'd look to our close family. Men!

In other news, headachey today. I'm hoping this isn't a pregnancy thing and that it will go away soon! Around here, pregnant women are being advised by the midwives to avoid even paracetamol until 12 weeks, and I don't know how anyone can do that if their head is thumping! Usually anadin is my friend, but obviously that's off the table for now!

rebelwithoutababy · 03/03/2011 16:51

Totally agree goldenflower: that is v unreasonable behaviour and rant is entirely justified! At least you've got us MNers to chat to! BTW totally with you and biblio on the salty snacks front: just went down to shop at work to get crisps and it's shut!!! Arrrrrgggghhhh!!!Sad

drivencrazy · 03/03/2011 16:57

I got my blood test back this afternoon and i do have immunity to chicken pox so panic over.
