Am I the first? I can't see another November thread.

Ok, my stats, I am 32, have 1 dd (2.1) and edd is 03/11/2011.

I had a mc at Christmas but feel ok about this pregnancy, though I only found out 3 days ago so I may get a bit more panicked as time passes.

Anyone else want to join me in a November baby thread?

welcome new ladies, congratulations to you all.

Am glad the pains seem normal. I informed work today, also warned them to expect 9 months of total paranoia. Grin

sorry tiri don't know the lewisham birth suites, might be worth posting the question on the pregnancy website or on the main ante-natal page.

really do you mind if i ask what the symptoms were like for ectopic. i've read what they're supposed to be like but not really informative enough (for me anyway) fx for your scan tomorrow what time is it?

Sibella1 · 01/03/2011 14:39

Hi ladies, sorry I lost the thread but found it again!

I told my husband this weekend of our unexpected surprise (well I just showed him the test) and you should've seen his face!! Shock

He's not impressed but is slowly getting used to the idea. I'm just taking it one day at a time - panicking when I've got no symptoms and groaning (to myself) when I do!!

bumpsnowjustplump · 01/03/2011 14:51

Thank you for the congratulations, seems very scary at the moment.

We agreed to stop at two as we only have a 2 bedroom house and I only work pt. I had also started on a 5 year plan to become a midwife but I guess that is out the window now. Grin

I am happy as is dp but are both still in shock. It took 9 months of determined and timed bonking to get ds and this month we only had 1 tipsy bonk and hay presto.. I have also have two horrific births and that scares me as does the fact with DS I was on crutches for the last 4 months of my pg due to spd. moan moan moan moan Wink

Hello ladies I live in Kent and as i have mentioned I have a dd who will be 4 in two weeks and a ds who was 2 two weeks ago. I work pt as a community carer, not married but have been with dp for almost 10 years. Currently both myself and ds have flu but apart from that we are all well.

I am going to get a clear blue digital test tonight just to confirm how far gone I am as I have no idea.

cep · 01/03/2011 14:59

hey sibella was wondering how you were getting on. wish i could have seen his face. Grin

bumps i had a mild spd in my first pg which was bad enough. i seemed to start getting pains earlier with pg2 but obviously due to mc don't know how bad it would have gotten, so i'm slightly concerned what it's going to be like this time. Poor thing having flu it's horrible only being able to take paracetamol isn't it. hope you feel better soon.

chipmonkey · 01/03/2011 16:33

Hi Sibella! Glad to see you back. I have a dh who takes ages to get used to it if I get a new hairdo, never mind getting pg, so I sympathise!

Another bit of brown spotting here this morning. Hope I'm not in for a trimester of this.Sad

Reallyusefulengine · 01/03/2011 16:42

Thanks so much ladies, it's so nice to be able to talk about being pregnant - still keeping it quiet for the time being. When I had the ectopic I was pretty sure I was pregnant but I kept having negative pregnancy tests, followed by a bleed so thought nothing of it, until I woke up in the night in utter agony and bleeding. I went straight to hospital where they thought I might have a hernia and sent me home. They were extraordinarily hopeless considering I had all the classic symptoms of an ectopic - pain, bleeding and shoulder tip pain. I went back to my gp a couple of days later as by this time I was bleeding heavily. He sent me back to the hospital where I had to badger them to do a blood test. It came back positive but with a really low HCG hormone and then they found the pregnancy in one of my ovaries. The earliest they could have operated was 10 days later but I luckily had a half forgotten private health care scheme through work and that was how I got operated on the next morning. Had an amazing Gyne who saved the ovary. Am still sad though that if it wasn't for the private healthcare I would have definately lost that ovary. I know 3 women who lost theirs at the same hospital because of the delay in operating. So flipping unfair.

Anyway, sorry for babbling. I worry because I have an increased risk of having one, but I am pretty sure the only real symptom of an ectopic is shoulder tip pain - it is really odd and not like a pulled muscle or that pain you get from hauling kids around all day. I also think its that thing of actually genuinely knowing that something isn't right.

Am hoping I haven't scared anyone or given inaccurate information, I think their's an ectopic trust online who have accurate information. Still think though that the majority of ectopics could be treated sooner if we could all get earlier scans. Hey ho xx

cep · 01/03/2011 17:00

really that's awful, they should have at least asked you if you were ttc. that's incompetency surely?? Thank goodness for the private health care scheme. 10 days is horrendous. don't appologise for babbling i asked you for the details and i appreciate the fact you could tell me. sounds daft but the shoulder tip pain is that literally the edge of the shoulder bone or more into the arm?? it's good that they're giving you extra scans though to make sure you're ok.

chip sorry you're getting more brown spotting. i would say not to worry brown is old, but i know i'd be just as worried (pretending mad panic over pain this morning didn't happen) If you do get too worried about it ask for an early scan.

Reallyusefulengine · 01/03/2011 17:14

Hi Cep

Just copied this from the ectopic pregnancy trust - btw, sorry to sound so stupid but are we allowed to do copy and paste from other websites on MN? Or give links?

Shoulder tip pain is also a sign of a deteriorating ectopic pregnancy. Unfortunately, when we are worried and stressed, its normal to hold our posture differently, tensing muscles you perhaps wouldn?t normally tense, which can cause discomfort and pain in the neck and shoulders. The relaxation exercise should help you to determine the difference between stressed muscles and genuine shoulder tip pain. Shoulder tip pain is actually a fairly unique pain. Shoulder tip pain is usually caused by internal bleeding irritating the diaphragm when you breathe in and out. It is exactly where it says ? not the neck or the back but the tip of your shoulder. If you look to the left over your shoulder and then cast your eyes down, the tip of your shoulder is where your shoulder ends and your arm starts.

Shoulders cause pain when we are stressed because we hold our selves more rigidly, and muscles in the back and neck go in to spasm ? this is not shoulder tip pain.

Shoulder tip pain is very distinctive and you know when you have it because it is a very ?weird? pain you have never had in your life before (unless you had pain of this nature with gall stones or liver problems).

cep · 01/03/2011 17:42

really as far as i know you can i do it loads. Right according to that i think the pain i had last night was definately in my arm, and i haven't had it since. i think it's more of a highly developed sense of imagination. Thank you for that info.

MissInvincible · 01/03/2011 17:46

Hi really - good luck with your scan. My midwife is pushing for an early scan for me, but as my last pregnancy was not located she isn't sure what they are going to say. Is a pregnancy considered to be ectopic if nothing was seen in the uterus?! Hopefully they will remember me in the EPU as I was in there every few days for 8 weeks up until January!

Hello to everyone who has joined the thread :)

Reallyusefulengine · 01/03/2011 18:03

Good luck Miss, I hope you get the early scan. BTW, on a different note, is everyone stuffing their faces or is it just me? I have just scoffed the children's dinners and I'm not actually sure if they had finished Wink

And hello to all the new mums to be from me too x

Reallyusefulengine · 01/03/2011 18:08

So sorry Miss, I didn't read your post properly. Why did it take 8 weeks and why couldn't they find anything? Did you have funny hcg? Levels?

knockedout · 01/03/2011 18:11

Ha chipmonkey! It's a bit of both at the moment as I'm just so tired in the evenings already. Feeling I must have my dates wrong, because already? Seriously?! Sheesh. It's gonna be a long 9 months. Sorry to hear about the spotting. Even though I know it could all be completely fine, it would do nothing for my peace of mind. I hope it stops really soon for you!

really, what an awful experience with the ectopic before. Fingers crossed the scan shows all is well this time.

cep I'm impressed at your efficiency in informing work, and your GP (is that right?) and everything already. I'm not entirely sure what I'm waiting on, but I can still hardly believe it yet. Which doesn't stop me from randomly grinning to myself and scaring strangers as a result. Grin

I'm glad to hear that some aches and pains are entirely normal. Cause even though they're reassuring, they're still, well, a right pain!

pookypup · 01/03/2011 18:33

Thanks for the warm welcome and hello to all the new ladies.

It's not really sunk in yet, don't think it's real. Keep having to pop upstairs and look at the tests :)

bumpsnowjustplump I'm in Kent too - where did you have your babies before? Should I be even thinking stuff like that???? Confused

MissInvincible · 01/03/2011 18:36

Really - I had a bleed at 5 weeks, was told by my GP I had miscarried and to go home and rest. A week later I still felt pregnant and tested positive so my GP referred me to the EPU for a scan but they could see nothing. They measured my hcg level and it was about 350. 3 days later it rose to 500ish, which isn't quite doubling but they sounded hopeful - another scan a week later and another the week after that showed nothing. Over the next few weeks my hcg levels rose to just over 1000. The consultant told me that at this point he would normally prescribe methotrexate but it was not available at the shitty hospital and I would have to be referred to another hospital in the next county, but then my hcg levels started to drop. It took quite a few weeks for my levels to drop below 15, and I started bleeding heavily on Christmas Day. I had to endure trips to the EPU every few days from the beginning of November right through til mid January (which is why it is such a shock that I am pg again so quickly and I am freaking out!). The hospital admitted that they weren't sure what had happened to my baby, they suspected it was ectopic and I was diagnosed with a 'pregnancy of unknown location'.

cep · 01/03/2011 18:48

knocked i have an appointment to see the dr when i'll be around 7 weeks. i'm hoping to get a scan to make sure everything's ok before i start booking in with the midwife. i only told work incase i start getting morning sickness. I'm absolutely knackered in the evenings.

cep · 01/03/2011 18:50

sorry xpost missi you poor thing what a journey. am pleased for you that you were able to get pg again so quickly. we can all freak out together. Grin

Reallyusefulengine · 01/03/2011 19:03

OMG, how awful. Fingers crossed you get an early scan, you absolutely deserve one to put your mind at rest.

freeangel · 01/03/2011 21:27

Hiya all, congratulations to all the november bumps on here! I got a bfp last friday, this is my first baby and am half excited! The other half is me is trying to chill and not worry about things! I have nothing to worry about but you just never know! I have had cramps, tummy ache, wind and really sore boobs! (sorry tmi) I think my edd is 5/11/11 so i am 4+3 :)

TerrysNo2 · 01/03/2011 21:28

Evening all

Welcome to newbies - we are flying along now aren't we!! Grin

MissInvincible it sounds like they really put you through crap - I hope things go better this time so you don't have to worry about it.

I am going to see my GP on Friday - we have some bizarre system here (although it seems to work), if you like the redial button on your phone, where you phone at 8am on the day and get an appointment that day. Will be begging asking for an early scan.

knockedupagain · 01/03/2011 21:49

Hello everybody, and congratulations to all. I seem to be the first 11/11/11. I did think of joining the thread a week ago as I felt very pregnant, but thought I might seem crazy and deluded! Have been getting positive tests since Sunday, darker every day, so feeling brave enough now. I'm 49, single (and very likely to remain that way!), and have four nearly grown kids already. I thought it would be lovely to do it all again, so had IVF in Madrid on 18/2. I had two donated embryos from two anonymous donors who have never met. Am hoping the dad is Enrique Inglesias!

TerrysNo2 · 01/03/2011 22:03

Welcome knockedup - wow, I have never met anyone who has had anonymous IVF. Don't really know what to say as I have so many questions Grin but will leave you alone for now and just say CONGRATS!! Smile

chipmonkey · 01/03/2011 23:47

Oh, knockedupagain, that feeling pregnant early on sounds like twins, all right! And I am very glad to have someone else over 40 on the thread!

cep · 02/03/2011 07:25

welcome freeangel and knockedupagain congratulations to you both.

freeangel i put your stats on the stats page for you.

knockedup ooh twins that's really common with ivf isn't it???

am i the only one not getting boobie pains? i don't remember having them in my first 2 pgs either. i'm still having the stomach and back pains. am really tired in evenings but keep waking up during the night which is v annoying. and i've started retching really easily when i'm coughing.

hope everyone is ok this morning.

pookypup · 02/03/2011 07:39

Morning Cep :) no boob pain here either, but having the back and stomach cramps. Felt very tired walking the dod at 6.30 this morning!

I am wondering how and when to tell DP... He is away but getting back late tonight. Might see if I can wait until Friday night after work. This is a baby we planned for ( our first) but I suspect that he'll be a bit shocked still! He seemed to think it would take months, not 2nd cycle.
