Am I the first? I can't see another November thread.

Ok, my stats, I am 32, have 1 dd (2.1) and edd is 03/11/2011.

I had a mc at Christmas but feel ok about this pregnancy, though I only found out 3 days ago so I may get a bit more panicked as time passes.

Anyone else want to join me in a November baby thread?

Morning all.

Cep hoping things are OK.

Good info on slings ladies, thanks. I am keen to use wrap type stretchy slings as I too have a large build (oh, be honest woman, you're fat!!! Grin) and so the standard ones often don't fit well or at all Blush

My only worry is that they are fiddly to get on and you need to be a contortionist to get them on.

Whoever asked about Chester hospital, yes it's the countess of chester. I live just over the North Wales border, about 20mins from Chester so am lucky to have the choice of England or Wales.

Chester ante natal care was OK but the birth and post-natal care was medicalised and efficient but didn't meet my needs (hard to explain, DD was in special care for a bit and I found it very hard to bond and didn't manage to feed her myself - I'm sure over the next few months the whole story will come out)

So am thinking about Wrexham but not sure what it is like - it's about 30mins away.
I need somewhere where they are supportive of VBAC as I really do not want a c-section again.

Trouble is, most HCPs see women as statistics and very few treat you as a human being (or perhaps that's a bit harsh).
I think I will hire a doula - I've found 2 locally that are still training so only charge £200 to support you through out labour. DP is great but he doesn't get what I need in labour really.

Sorry for the lengthy post, I must bugger off and make some bread.

Oh and still no sore boobs here - bizarre as I had them with DD. Feel queasy but that's about it.

Woodifer · 13/03/2011 10:11

Hello everyone!

cep fingers crossed for you

nicknack your boss sounds a right w*nker, you shouldn't have to do this but could you suggest a compromise where you do some other "duty" or job instead of playground duty??

i'm just trying to think practically - but if you are off with stress, stay off with stress maybe?

TerrysNo2 · 13/03/2011 10:13

Morning all

cep I hope there has been no more blood, will be keeping my FX for you. xxx

knitter congratulations and welcome. Do you have a new name? Were you on cloth nappy users thread? I was on there with my old name (not to be disclosed yet as some RL people know it and not ready to out PG yet!)

Nicnacknoodle · 13/03/2011 10:14

Morning,

Thanks for the supportive messages.
Cep hope you OK and thinking of you.

KnitterInTheNW · 13/03/2011 10:16

TerrysNo2... Nope, I've never used cloth nappies and this is my original name.

cep · 13/03/2011 10:21

morning all, good news so far, still no blood. (but then didn't really between scans last time.)

i have the same worry as you mrsa that i should have learnt some gymnastic moves while i could have.

Do you wrap them round then put baby in, or are you supposed to hold baby to you then wrap??? i love the idea of holding them so close, and still being able to do stuff with your hands. but there are so many out there, i wouldn't know where to start. I'm not the type of person to go to meets i get to shy embarrassed to go in.

TerrysNo2 · 13/03/2011 10:30

knitter I think you are not the only knitter out there then! Smile

cep yay for no blood, that can only be a good thing! I would def recommend the Kari Me sling, it is so lovely and DS used to be so snug and cuddly in it, I used to pop him in so he could nap, tidy the house for a bit and then sit down and sleep with him!! Smile

WuzzAndBuddy · 13/03/2011 10:35

Hi all, its just taken me about 10minutes of staring at the thread title trying to decide if its time to step forward and sign in or not.... Grin

Never been on a 'due' thread while pregnant so this is a big step for me!

I'm 27 in 3weeks (although I've decided I'm sticking at 25!), this is my 5th pregnancy but only have one beautiful DS who is 3.7.
Have had a missed MC, a molar pregnancy, then DS, my last MC was in November.

I'm due on 19/11/11 and conceived on DHs 2weeks R&R from Afghanistan! Grin

Congratulations to everyone here, hope its a long and 'bump' filled journey to November for us all!

cep · 13/03/2011 10:48

welcome wuzz congratulations. there are a few of us who have had at least 1 mc within the last few months. wow that's good timing those two weeks. Grin

terrys sounds daft but do you need 2 people to do it? do you tie first then put baby in? looks really complicated.

was just having another look at the sling meet link, like the look of the wraps but as i said looks complicated, i also like to look of the pouches but am worried may not be big enough for my size. I am really fat huge.

WuzzAndBuddy · 13/03/2011 11:07

My friend swears by slings and wraps, she has a huge collection!
Think I'm gonna give them a go this time.
I had one of these and one of these with DS but they're so ... rigid. I like the idea of the soft material of wraps and the snug fit of a little baby all cosy inside. [gooey hormones]

rightontime · 13/03/2011 11:08

Hi wuzz

Wraps are really not complicated once you get the hang of them. I used a stretchy one from birth with DS2. You can wrap over the baby while you are holding or tie it first and then put the baby in depending on which carry you want to use. www.slingguide.co.uk is your very best place to start as it has tons of info on different carriers and their pros and cons.

TerrysNo2 · 13/03/2011 11:12

cep I used to do it on my own and then pop DS in - its a bit tricky the first few times because its like a special wrap but after a couple you get the hang of it.

welcome Wuzz Smile!

chipmonkey · 13/03/2011 11:21

Welcome Wuzz!

And OMG, Welcome Knitter!Grin

Got brought up brekkie in bed this morning and desparately trying to keep it down as it would be rude to throw it up after dh and ds1 went to all that bother.

Hey cep, glad the pink has settled down. Fx all is still OK.

cep · 13/03/2011 12:06

so rude of me i thought there was someone i'd forgotten to say hello to. welcome knitter and congratulations.

freeangel · 13/03/2011 12:56

Welcome knitter and wuzz Smile

localcrackpot · 13/03/2011 13:11

Hello everyone,
I'm pregnant for the first time, 28, excited but anxious and SO bloody tired! My EDD is 5th November. I've my first MW appt tomorrow after work (another teacher here, secondary in my case) but I doubt much will happen this time. I've worked out I'm 6+2. No sickness so far, apart from the normal sickness if I'm hungry.
I read the thread through before posting-it's terrifying how many people have already left, but I'm trying not to think about it.
I'm in north Manchester. We've signed up for some NCT classes in September, which seems a million years away.
Hope all goes well at your scan cep - the lack of blood must surely be a good thing!

cep · 13/03/2011 13:44

welcome local we share edd. Unfortunately the first several weeks on an antenatal thread can be the scariest with people leaving and things. My family come from Manchester and although i live down hampshire way now i have a lot of relatives up there. Have you put yourself on our stats thread yet??

localcrackpot · 13/03/2011 14:49

Thanks for the welcome :) I've put myself on, cep but like the wool-brained fool I am I just added myself on the end instead of realising that they're in date order. Considered re-doing but energy had gone at that point!
Nice to know others at the same stage :)

cep · 13/03/2011 15:01

Grin don't worry i'm sure the next person will move you up. You're allowed to be wool-brained at the moment.

KnitterInTheNW · 13/03/2011 15:10

I moved you up! I've just sent DH and DS out to do something 'so that I can do some cleaning'. In actual fact I'm shattered and watching coach trip and doing some knitting! It was my turn to have a lie in this morning, but woke up when DH got up to get DS up, decided I needed a wee, did the test and then was too excited to go back to sleep!

chipmonkey · 13/03/2011 15:23

Hi localcrackpot! Smile

localcrackpot · 13/03/2011 15:36

Hi chip! Thanks for the welcome (sniffle!) and thanks for moving me up, Knitter :)

laabama · 13/03/2011 15:37

Afternoon all!
What a mix of stuff! I'd not even thought about slings etc yet.

Cep - I'm moving down to Hampshire in a few weeks' time. Which area are you in? I really hope that everything works out well for you.

Nicknack - your boss sounds a complete t*sser, not to mention acting completely illegally. As far as I"m aware, under the Health and Safety at Work Regulations, he needs to do a risk assessment once he knows your pregnant and must alter your work conditions as necessary to try to mitigate risk. This is from the HSE website www.hse.gov.uk/pubns/indg373.pdf and might be useful. Good luck!

freeangel · 13/03/2011 15:41

Welcome crackpot

I cant believe how may there is of us now! Growing slowly in more ways than one!

Is it common to have slight aches in your tummy in general at around 6 weeks? I know my cramps are my uterus!? I have had a pain in my right side but am now resting and its not continous. Confused Sorry im a bit of a newbie with all this pregnancy aches etc!

freeangel · 13/03/2011 15:44
