Am I the first? I can't see another November thread.

Ok, my stats, I am 32, have 1 dd (2.1) and edd is 03/11/2011.

I had a mc at Christmas but feel ok about this pregnancy, though I only found out 3 days ago so I may get a bit more panicked as time passes.

Anyone else want to join me in a November baby thread?

I'm glad to read all that about the peanuts, I love them and they are a really healthy snack - much better than the crisps I would be eating otherwise.

Off to do some more research about it all - oh and the school run of course!!

cep · 09/03/2011 15:00

righton hi missed your post earlier, glad you're doing well. hopefully you'll start wanting those foods again. i don't think i've lost weight but don't think i've gained (much) either.

tallulahpolly · 09/03/2011 15:01

i have been eating mixed nuts as a snack. lots of 'good'fat and stuff in them. no history of allergies, exema or asthma in our families though.

3rdTimeLucky2000 · 09/03/2011 15:02

really? i was told it was on the definitive "no,no" list!Confused i will definatly recheck that one tho, although i supposenot much point now as like i said, makes me wanna...well you know! although maybe i personally should stick to it! iv got (and most of my faMILY) have got quite bad asthma and eczema, and a whole array of allergies to boot! xx

tallulahpolly · 09/03/2011 15:05

there's so much different advice out there. it gets quite confusing!

3rdTimeLucky2000 · 09/03/2011 15:09

its weird, im feeling pretty awful now after reading all your comments! i love rare -medium rare steak but would never have it now because of the risks! just like i dont eat shell fish (huge yum) smocked fish (because of the listeria, heard your child can be born with menigitus) and so much more! im gonna be one of those horrid mums who wrap there child in cotton wool til there at least 25! wish i could relax abit, i know that they cant ALL be that bad for you/bean xx

DirgeInVegas · 09/03/2011 15:11

and

can't remember where i saw the bit about steak, will have a look.

DirgeInVegas · 09/03/2011 15:16

I had asthma as a child so I haven't given DD anything like peanut butter yet but I did have big cravings for satay and snickers when pregnant (I say cravings, I just enjoyed them) and didn't worry about the allergy thing. I also ate peanuts whilst breastfeeding so I guess she's probably been introduced to peanuts that way too. I imagine avoiding something is more likely to cause an allergy so I will continue to eat peanuts in this pg too.

Oh my God, can't we eat shellfish when pg? I need a list.

I have a book about food in pregnancy and it says that your taste buds change to encourage you to eat a variety of things and things you might not have eaten. Apparently broccoli becomes less bitter and we also desensitise to salt - perhaps because we need more salt to balance all the extra fluid we're drinking (thats an uneducated guess by the way, before anyone ups their salt intake).

3rd I am more relaxed as a mum now that DD is here than I was when pg or for maybe the first 6 months of her life. I think you'll be fine.

freeangel · 09/03/2011 15:22

Im so sorry to hear that reallyuseful hope it gets sorted for you xx Ive been avoiding nuts, as i have sensitive skin/dermatitis, slight hayfever, had every illness you could of think of, and always got a cold or a sinus problem! Hypercondriac

3rdTimeLucky2000 · 09/03/2011 15:23

yeah well say that to future son/daughter when s/hes in therapy! i sometimes dont know how even my husband survives with me!
yeah, wer not suppose to eat anything aparently, just water and cress is the safest route :o

please dont listen to me in any of the food bit, i only avoid it all becaue im super nervy about EVERYTHING that might POSSIBLY go wrong- speak to someone a bit more rational! xx

3rdTimeLucky2000 · 09/03/2011 15:24

freeangel you might be my soulmate haha

cep · 09/03/2011 15:31

ok are we ready according to "the pregnancy book" i was given by my m/wife last pg, the foods to avoid are

some types of soft cheese - mould ripened like brie camembert etc or blue veined cheese like danish blue (yeurgh anyway)

pate any pate including vegetable

raw or partially cooked eggs should all be cooked through, (although i was told by someone else that as long as egg is lion stamped is ok if yolk soft as long as white isn't but i'll double check this with m/wife)

raw or undercooked meat - "it is fine to eat steaks and other wholes cuts of beef and lamb rareas long as the outside has been properly cooked or sealed.

liver products - yeurgh no problem

supplements containing vit a

some types of fish - shark marlin swordfish and limit amount of tuna to not more than 2 tuna steaks a week or 4 med sized cans a week.

raw shellfish eat cooked rather than raw shellfish

peanuts if you would like to eat peanuts or foods containing peanuts (such as peanut butter) during pregnancy, you can choose to do so as part of a healthy balanced diet, unless you are allergic to them (why would you) or your health professional advises you not to. (there is more about the history of previous advice in book)

unpasteurised milk

freeangel · 09/03/2011 15:34

Ha ha glad im not the only one who is like then 3rdtime

tallulahpolly · 09/03/2011 15:38

cep good list, thanks. I will miss soft cheese, LOVE brie and camembert in sandwiches with ham.
Hate fish and liver so no problem there.
dirge interesting about the salt thing, i have become addicted to any type of savory crackers, and crave savory foods in general, and as i mentioned earlier gone off chocolate completly!

3rdTimeLucky2000 · 09/03/2011 15:42

freeangelEven when i first had my positive pg test i was convinced that i must have had a undiagnosed tumour on my overies or it must have been an ovarion cyst! BIGGEST HYPO EVER!! sometimes i really just need a big old SLAP lol xx

tallulahpolly · 09/03/2011 15:43

Thanks for chat this afternoon ladies. feel rested enough now to make up the spare bed and do the hoovering ready for parents week long visit tomorrow. Can't wait to see their faces when we tell them, they think we don't want children at all because we have three cats and i call them my babies!
Have a good evening all x

3rdTimeLucky2000 · 09/03/2011 15:43

why would any drink unpasturised milk? pregnant or otherwse? xx Confused

3rdTimeLucky2000 · 09/03/2011 15:45

night then, thanks aswell xx love to the cats xx :)

deemented · 09/03/2011 15:45

The advice about the eggs being lion stamped is correct. I couldn't give up my runny fried egg butty for no one!!

Also one to avoid is the Mr Whippy ice cream as it is unpasturised.

3rdTimeLucky2000 · 09/03/2011 15:47

omg really?! noooooooooo! xx

chipmonkey · 09/03/2011 15:49

Really so sorry it wasn't better news.Sad Hope the laparoscopy gives you some answers!

3rd, might you be a bit anaemic? Might be worth taking iron?

I emailed my SIL today to tell her the news. I was dying to tell someone in RL and can't trust my Mum. SIL is always very optimistic too, which helps.

LittleWhiteWolf · 09/03/2011 15:50

Hi all, can I tentatively join? I'm 25 and have a DD who is 20months, I sadly had an mc just after new year and have recently discovered I'm pregnant again. My due date is 12/11/11.
I'm incredibly nervous. Mainly excited and thrilled, but every time I go to the loo I'm expecting blood and its driving me mad! Just trying to remember that lots of women had mcs and then go on to have healthy pgs and babies and there's no reason to suggest I won't be one of them!

So to re-cap:
25 years old, have DD 20months, mc in Jan and due on 12/11/11 (although I'm kinda hoping DC2 is a day early so they're born on 11/11/11!)

chipmonkey · 09/03/2011 15:51

deemented, usually a runny egg is one of my staples. But I can barely think about one at the moment.

These things can be all a load of cobblers though. Particulary as the "rules" vary from country to country and book to book.
