Took it upon myself to start a new thread. Everyone's popping right now!

PS: Sorry for the awful rhyme, it was all I could think of Blush

Congrats, Pink! What a lovely HB story.

I appear to have lost my mucus plug last night (and ran excitedly to show DH Blush), had some relatively painful contractions during the night but they've stopped now. Hopefully the sweep today will kick things off.

Maybe I'll make DH a heart-shaped pizza for tonight then gently broach the sex-will-start-labour topic...

wigglesrock · 14/02/2011 12:12

Pink Congratulations, glad all went the way you had hoped - lovely name.

Well - had sweep, surprisingly not at all uncomfortable, done in about 2 seconds. Nothing at all to report!!!! Baby still high up, not engaged, although my babies don't tend to engage until right before labour - still a bit leaky but we'll have to wait and see. Have another one booked for next Mon - midwife doesn't think I'll need it but I've a funny feeling I'll be wandering around here for a while yet Grin

americanexpat · 14/02/2011 12:49

Grannyapple - I meant to say, are you sure it was from pooing? Bits of mine have just been there when wiping, whether weeing or pooing. Hopefully this is a good sign for you!

Breezey · 14/02/2011 13:09

pink congratulations, so pleased your birth was at home as planned, and that your other DC were able to meet Baby Megan very soon after. I'm still uncertain about what to do with DC's (5 & 6) as we are planning HB, but I'll just have to see when it happens. Keep hoping it might start when I drop them at school, (probably as I'll be so pissed off with some of the tactless comments. - I'm only just due) M/W phoned to see what is happening, and has offered another sweep this morning, she goes on holiday on Friday, so I'm happy to try anything. Ignoring Valentines here, though DH did cook last night, which is a very rare and exciting event, When DC2 was born (at 3pm,) he talked about cooking dinner, but by 8.30 I was getting tired and hungry so ended up doing it myself, (sadly no takaways about) Sorry for grumbly post, everything is starting to increasingly irritate me ...

suzym1984 · 14/02/2011 14:43

Hi ladies!

Congratulations to everyone who has had their babies! Sorry I have been absent but my beautiful baby boy arrived on Wednesday night at 8;17pm weighing 6lbs 13oz. He is gorgeous!

Labour was not the relaxing water birth that I had planned and I ended up having an emergency cs. Feeling ok now, just a little sore, but so smitten with my little man!

Will try and keep up with the thread and will try to post occasionally too!

Good luck everyone who has still not popped.

Oh, and I can recommend reflexology, had it on tuesday night and waters went on wednesday morning.

40Weeks · 14/02/2011 15:03

Well what exciting news to read up on. Congrats to all those who have popped, am so pleased for you all. Am thinking of all those who are overdue too, I hope you aren't kept waiting much longer. I still have 10 days to go. Am so tired, just lay down on the sofa and dozed off! Poor ds1 is watching tv. Will take them out in the garden after ds2 wakes from nap, am feeling like a terrible mother.

Have no plans for valentines although did get given dh's credit card yesterday when I went to shops to buy a new charm for my bracelet! So might try and show my "appreciation" tonight and see if anything happens! Also have reflexology on weds pm, so will ask her to help things along too. A good tip to try according to her is to press down on the centre of big toe while rubbing hard under inside Nile. It links the uterus with the pituitary gland - might be worth a try if you can persuade dp!

40Weeks · 14/02/2011 15:04

Inside ankle! Not "Nile"

slowangels1 · 14/02/2011 17:05

woooo congrats suzy and pink. Yet more babies Grin

Heart shaped pizza is taking shape nicely - any of you ladies with a breadmaker with a pizza dough setting I can recommend it as a very easy way of doing home made pizza [lazy emoticon]. Can also share with you my excitement at managing to cook using onions today for the first time in 8 months (due to massive pg adversion) [chuffed emoticon]

janedoe25 · 14/02/2011 17:36

WOW congratulations to u who have popped! Just got a card from my OH for valentines, and i have bought in the dine in for 2 from m&s for dinner, couldnt face going out! Think its hibernating time for me until my little lady arrives!

40Weeks · 14/02/2011 17:41

Ha ha Jane am in agreement, dh called to say he was on way home from meeting 3 hrs away, when in fact he came through the door 5 mins later, with m&s dinner! Yippee

tadjennyp · 14/02/2011 18:25

Congratulations to Pink and suzy! Have a lovely time with your little bundles! Hoping everyone else is doing ok and the sweeps are working.

WaddlingSheep · 14/02/2011 18:57

Hi everybody, hope you're all having a lovely Valentines day! Smile

Congratulations to Pink and Suzy! Lovely to hear of more arrivals Grin.

Wiggles hope the sweep works, glad it wasn't too uncomfortable! Mine made me bleed a bit (sorry if tmi), not sure if that counts as a show Hmm as it was more like spotting! The trickling and show sound promising, I have my fingers crossed for you! Grin

SBF hasn't posted for a couple of days (unless I've missed it) I wonder if her sweep worked and she's off having her baby? Grin

Well, no news from me babywise Sad. Pains have stopped apart from a burrowing feeling in my cervix Hmm and some BH!

DH has been lovely this Valentines day. Got a card, 12 red roses, chocolates and some PJs Grin and we're having a take away for tea, not very romantic though as DD will be joining us!

WaddlingSheep · 14/02/2011 18:59

Angels glad you've finally overcome your onion aversion! Hope your DH enjoys the pizza Grin.

40Weeks · 14/02/2011 19:46

waddling that sounds like a lovely Valentines day/eve!

earlgreyismynectar · 14/02/2011 23:48

Congratulations Pink & Suzy! Enjoy your newborn snuggles and time out in the newborn bubble! I'm still loving this feeling of having stepped off the world for a while and just being completely besotted with my gorgeous baby boy! Wiggles, sounds hopeful, hope it won't be much longer for you & to everyone else still waiting. Breezy, I understand where you're coming from, childcare / timing for DD became my main concern pre labour. As it happened, I started in the early hours so was able to get my mum to collect her from pre school. Hope it goes in a similar way for you, it's one less stress! Thanks for all of your good wishes & positives on name! It's looking more & more likely to be Harris / Harry and we have to decide & register by Thurs as DP going away again (no pressure then) maybe I'm just indecisive, it's such a BIG responsibility! Harris is probably more unusual version (to whoever was querying, Wiggles?!) it's the Scottish isle, along the same lines as Iona and Skye.

Anyway, he is just gorgeous and perfect, is feeding well but gets extremely distressed when undressed so nappy changing is a challenge (along with the boy bits spontaneous peeing when exposed which I still haven't got to grips with!). He almost seemed relieved after he was born to get the skin to skin over with and get his vest and sleepsuit on! Grin

I'm feeding again and he's reluctant to settle hence MN!

Here's to many more babies SOON! Stay focused on your lovely babies those still waiting! Not long now :)

ledkr · 15/02/2011 08:15

hi all, congrats to the new arrivals.Love all the nice names.
earlgrey you sound very happy, its great isnt it?Delilah had such a bad start that we missed that so am having it all now.We registered her yesterday-Delilah Ivy Emmeline-used them all in the end.We went for lunch to celebrate and as soon as the food arrived she woke up Hmmeveryone was cooing as we got her out of the pram and dh gave her her feed whilst drooling at his food haha.Felt so proud to push her around town despite the hassle it was to get out.
She feeds very frequently in the day but then sleeps long periods at night so cant complain.
Speaking to a solicitor today re the nhs blunder.I never really went into details on here but basically i showed a midwife Ds cleft palate in hospital and then told a paedotrician too. They fobbed me off and sent me home resulting in her other serious probs developing.I feel a bit funny about it cos do not want to be taking money off the nhs but would like an apology and make sure it never happens to anyone else.

EauRouge · 15/02/2011 09:24

Good luck with it ledkr, I agree it's about making sure it doesn't happen again, the outcome could be worse if there was a next time :(

Well I'm still not in labour although getting lots of strong BH still. Good thing I'm not in labour today actually, I slept horribly again last night so I just don't have the energy! Grin

smallblackflowers · 15/02/2011 10:06

Hello ladies, and big congratulations to cookingfat earlgrey pink and suzy Smile

Thanks for the wishes of pain too, unfortunately I have been pretty much pain free, the occasional contraction every few hours for the last few days, but nothing more. Am feeling very disgruntled and like I'm putting everyone out - my fuse is getting shorter with every phone call or text that has the subtext of 'where is your baby'. DH even had the audacity to video me snoring in bed last night. He thought it was hilarious and said that he was concerned that DD would wake up thinking that there was a monster in the house.
Have sweep number 2 booked for this morning, so it had better work! Fingers crossed for a riper cervix and more dilation than last week.

Sorry about the me me me post but needed to vent.

smallblackflowers · 15/02/2011 10:21

earlgrey I really like the name Harris. It was the name of one of my stuffed toys when I was a little girl - a great big St Bernard dog.

WaddlingSheep · 15/02/2011 12:09

Good luck Ledkr! How appalling that the MW fobbed you off! Angry

SBF you must be feeling so frustrated! My contractions are the same, just coming and going every so often and keep stopping and starting. It's peeing me off and I'm not even overdue, so I can see why you would have a short fuse ATM! Hope the sweep works from this morning.

slowangels1 · 15/02/2011 12:14

earlgrey we had Iona (as in the scottish isle) on our name list but we just feel like we can't use it as the poor girl would get teasted with the likes of 'iona (i own a) big bum' etc or might marry someone in the future with a surname like castle or ford or sth. Such a shame Confused. Harris is lovely though and glad you're enjoying time with him.

ledkr gl with the NHS thing - it's so frustrating when all you really want them to do is admit they were wrong and apologise and feel like they have done something so that this will never happen to anyone again but from what I hear from others they are useless at accepting responsibility for anything.

I'm getting PIL/parents ringing every day now to ask if anything exciting is going on - it's getting quite boring to report nothing now. I have had periody pain for a few days on and off, but think that's just a sign of thigns slowly getting closer as opposed to the start of anything.

Breezey · 15/02/2011 12:31

earl grey I think Harris is a lovely name, and you can use Harry too. I had my second sweep yesterday, slightly more unconfortable, and no significant change according to m/w. This morning I'm getting very regular pains, so I'm wandering if this is it. At least DC's are at school, though they had unearthed all M/W paraphanalia from under spare bed this morning, so maybe they know something I don't. Just have to wait and see

WaddlingSheep · 15/02/2011 13:46

Fingers crossed for you Breezy! Smile

Angels - Iona is a lovely name but I can see your point! Grin My mum is always teasing DD with "Isabel necessary on a bicycle?" and it winds me up! It's a good job our surname isn't Tingly or something (although I'm sure we wouldn't have chosen the name if it was ha ha!)

lostfromoz · 15/02/2011 13:58

Good on you ledkr for pursuing what happened with the hospital...it's much better to do something about it than just to feel bitter, and those staff sound like they need to afford parents a lot more respect.
Thanks for posting the birth story pink, I found it so lovely and so encouraging.
earlgrey Harris after the island is gorgeous!
