Took it upon myself to start a new thread. Everyone's popping right now!

PS: Sorry for the awful rhyme, it was all I could think of Blush

Earlgrey Congratulations, lovely name

Needtosleep hope you had a good afternoon and are taking care of yourself.

EauRouge · 13/02/2011 19:32

Congrats Earlgrey! Well done you. Harris is a lovely name too. Does breastfeeding count as nipple stimulation?

Good luck to everyone else, I think we'll be having one baby a day at this rate Grin

PDR · 13/02/2011 19:37

Eau I think the nipple stimulation is meant to replicate breastfeeding so actual breastfeeding would be brilliant! Also, I think you need to do it for quite a while which you probably wouldn't do unless you were actually feeding.... :)

EauRouge · 13/02/2011 19:45

Right, I will stop trying to fob DD off with a hot cross bun then Grin she'd BF all day every day if she had the chance I think!

tadjennyp · 13/02/2011 19:54

Congratulations earlgrey that sounds wonderful! Good luck to everyone else. Don't worry about anything when you post here needto. You can say whatever you like and we are here for support, not to judge. If it makes you feel even a tiny bit better than we are all here to help. Hand expression really helped me this week when the milk came in.

ZeroMinusZero · 13/02/2011 20:05

Well done earlgrey that all sounds wonderful!

expat my bishops score was 4 at 4pm. DD2 was born at 8.35pm. All natural.

Well done cookingfat, what a great birth :)

wigglesrock · 13/02/2011 20:25

expat sorry meant to get back to you, I don't know/ can't remember what my bishops score was with dd2. Nice to see you Debka, hows Sabine? yummy I expect Grin

WaddlingSheep · 13/02/2011 20:42

Congratulations earlgrey! A lovely birth story and lovely name (if that's what you decide on). I've never heard of the name Harris before, as a first name, but I like Harry and Harrison. Harris is lovely!

Good luck to anyone with appointments/sweeps tomorrow!

My contractions seem to have completely stopped since this afternoon Confused. I had a few really really strong ones and got excited and then nothing since apart from a little bit of blood from the sweep! My body is doing strange things, I can't really moan though as I'm not even overdue - still got 13 days left until due date! I'm kind of hoping that the baby comes before or after Wednesday but not on Wednesday as it's DH's birthday so what's the betting that she comes then! Hmm

ledkr · 13/02/2011 20:44

needto i think you need to do some normal stuff, watch the soaps (or the wire) eat some chocolate, have a cuddle with dh have some Wine the feeling of overwhelingness largly due to the MASSIVE change in your life, remembering this i have tried to keep things similar within reason,Today we slept on,then had breakfast i took dd to pics and then we have just had dinner and will go to bed soon.We just muck in and do things as they need doing.Im not sure if im makin sense but it does help.In case you think i have it especially easy ill tell you that before the pics we sat at the out of hrs Drs for 1.5 hrs as my scar is a bit infected, drove around to find a Sunday chemist all whilst Delilah screamed as she decided that although she had just had a bottle she was peckish Confusedshe has given dh hell today heehee, btw has anyone tried classical music to calm crying? It hillarious,i used to use it for dd1,they go all chilled and weird-its foolproof try it.
Congrats earl grey and umm who was it? oh yes cooking fat.Come on ladies, good luck for tomorrow our wiggles off to do the half hr prep it takes just to get to bed these days.

ledkr · 13/02/2011 20:52

oh yes this will amuse you all,dh had ONE day back at work yesterday before 2 more weeks off,he returned stressed and unhelpfull and to be honest bloody dozy!
Luckily D only woke once but i did it and then was up first to see to dd1.Upon further questioning it turnes out he was "tired from work" he worked ONE day as a policeman in the cells. I pointed out to him that he was not down the coal mines or hod carrying and he admitted he had been a prat.Shap of things to come me thinks.grrrr

tadjennyp · 13/02/2011 21:22

Sorry, forgot to say congrats to cookingfat too, get distracted these days!

PDR · 13/02/2011 22:22

Congrats to everyone I have forgotten to congratulate :) Hope you are all enjoying newborn snuggles! Still seems so unreal to me that there will actually be a baby at the end of this Shock!

knittakid · 13/02/2011 22:25

earlgrey many many congratulations, it sounds absolutely lovely if a bit quick! although I think pushing an 8 pounder in 8 minutes is something I could deal with Grin (hopeful sigh)...

ledkr hope your infection clear quickly.

Can the nipple stimulation be self-administered?

tadjennyp · 13/02/2011 22:29

You can always rope dh in knitta!
Yes, hope your infection clears up quickly, ledkr.

PDR · 13/02/2011 22:48

Yes I think so knitta!

Breezey · 13/02/2011 23:08

earl grey congratulations, great to hear positive HB story. I dreamt I've a 10lb in here, but not sure. For those struggling with feeding and general p/n recovery, I remember with Ds especially the M/W encouraging me not to hesitate to take paracetamol, in retrospect it was really good advice. I don't have a ball to bounce on, and had been a bit envious until I read your post Angels Had vomiting and cramps in night, but not sure if pregnancy related or just bad luck. see what another night brings

americanexpat · 13/02/2011 23:44

Thanks for the info re: induction. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed, had a good cry on DH's shoulder and talked about what I want and why so he can advocate for me on Thursday.

Congrats, earlygrey! I tried the nipple stimulation but no luck. DH kept reminding me to do it but never offered to help himself. Hmm

wigglesrock · 14/02/2011 10:22

Well, off to my romantic Valentines morning rendez-vous with the midwife's glove Grin

Although woke up at about 4am with strange feeling, have lost my mucus plug, bit of a show etc, also think my waters are leaking slightly. Also have had headache on and off from yesterday, don't usually get headaches and its really sore Smile. Going to keep appt this am, but not sure if they'll actually do sweep but wouldn't mind seeing the midwife anyway!! Thankfully Mr Wiggles finished work at 7am this morning so he's sleeping and then he'll be around for a few days incase anything is imminent. Girls are on midterm at the minute so will be great to have an extra pair of hands anyway.

Grannyapple · 14/02/2011 10:44

Ooh wiggles fingers crossed this is it...

Bit of question for u ladies-can u lose a bit of ur mucus plug when poo-ing? A bit TMI for first thing so apologies....due date is tomorrow & had some stronger cramping yesterday so hoping this is things movin along...

EauRouge · 14/02/2011 10:47

wiggles, what a way to spend Valentine's day Grin hope it gets things moving!

grannyapple, don't see why not but I didn't lose my plug until I was well into labour with DD so I could be wrong!

Speaking of pooing I've just had rather an unwell stomach and I feel really rough :( so either I've eaten something dodgy (can Cadbury's creme eggs give you salmonella? Grin ) OR... well, I don't want to get my hopes up. DH would quite like me to go into labour today though so he can get out of his 4pm meeting Hmm

knittakid · 14/02/2011 10:54

eau how hilarious the reasons for men to want labour to happen! hope it isn't salmonela; and re nipple tweaking, my dh shares expats dh's attitude...

Good luck today wiggles, you might not even need the sweep!

granny good luck to you too!

slowangels1 · 14/02/2011 11:08

earlgrey fabulous news - birth story is lovely and I think the name Harry is fab :)

wiggles sounds promising. 'Enjoy' the sweep (and whoever else had a sweep today - I'm sorry, I forget Blush ).

Might get DH to try the nipple trick tonight on me Grin

Am hoping to make DH a heart shaped home made pizza for dinnger tonight for valentines :) I got given some chrysanthenems (sp) that were on offer in sainsburys by DH on sat - think that was it for the valentines gifts from him Hmm

eau I felt really odd yesterday - upset tummy and just didn't feel settled at all. I've read this can be common before labour [fingers crossed emoticon]

oh, and I only got up once last night to the loo [proud emoticon]

PinkElephant73 · 14/02/2011 11:25

Hi all

Baby Megan finally arrived at 8,45pm on Saturday night - 8 days overdue, weighing 8lb. she was born at home (on my bed) - delivery was by my lovely community midwife who did all my antenatal care.

i had a show early on sat am, followed by twinges all morning. full-on ontractions started about 1.30pm. the CMW arrived just as I was putting on the TENS machine, to do a (prearranged!) sweep. she found I was 1cm dilated so did the sweep and went on her rounds having made sure we had her mobile number to hand.

cx carried on throughout the pm, but I coped ok with the TENS (highly recommended), plus breathing and other distraction techniques.

we called the CMW out at 5.45pm,when the cx were 3 mins apart, she arrived and examined me at 6.15pm and i was 4cm dilated (much to my relief as the cx were now really ramping up!) she thought things were moving quickly so called the second MW who arrived at 7.45pm, just as my waters broke!

I straight away felt the urge to push and the MWs were quite happy to let me carry on without a VE to check for full dilation which was fine by me as lying down was complete agony.

the second stage was slower and a lot more painful than with my last baby which was a bit demoralising but she arrived at 8.45pm.
her big brothers came in to see her 5 mins later, they had been downstairs all the time playing on the PS3 and having an Indian takeaway!

we are all besotted with her, she is doing really well, best of luck to everyone else.

knittakid · 14/02/2011 11:31

Pink what a lovely birth story! hope you and Megan are doing well and glad you got your HB even being overdue.

Flowers angels! I got some pizza cooked for me yesterday. That's it. It wasn't heart shaped Sad...
