Took it upon myself to start a new thread. Everyone's popping right now!

PS: Sorry for the awful rhyme, it was all I could think of Blush

I have a suggestion re: food - get dp to text or ring them a while before they arrive saying "please can you pick us up some milk/bread/kitchen roll/WINE etc etc" - they can't say no! And if they do they are being bloody unreasonable. I've been asking people to bring us stuff, no shame. You shouldn't have to feed them, its expensive like you say. How do people not think of this when they go to visit others?!

Yes to soap and glory hand cream - I have pots of different hand cream all over the house at the mo.

Dd hates baths by the way - she screamed the place down and made us feel like bad parents, especially when the nurse in the hospital had bathed her and she didn't mind too much.

ledkr · 24/02/2011 13:48

ditto the enjoyable bath in hosp.
have just told dh he needs to be suggesting a trip to pub or shop for meals,he did agree, and it will give me a break too.the longer i am on mat leave the less money i will have so they need to chip in,fil is really greedy too,it makes me cringe,he actually rubs his hands together "whats for lunch" grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Oneof4 · 24/02/2011 14:32

So it's been 12 hours since my waters broke. About 30 mins after that I started having good, regular contractions every ten mins, but those stopped after 90 minutes and I've had barely a twinge since then. :(

I've bounced on the birthing ball until I feel quesy, been for a 2 hour walk around the park, walked up and down the stairs like a mad woman....has anyone got any good ideas of something that might kick this baby into gear?! I'd really, really like to avoid being induced.

Thanks ladies.

Oneof4 · 24/02/2011 14:33

Oh, should have said that I've had further gushes (no staining) and baby is moving around fine, so I'm not concerned, but I know they'll want to induce me if I hit 24 hours.

ILovePonyo · 24/02/2011 17:07

Oh oneof4 I hope things have started back up for you by now! The only advice I would have is stuff you've already done - walking, bouncing on ball etc. Good luck! Fingers crossed for you.

Sorry ledkr but Grin at the mental image of greedy fil getting excited about dinner - you are making me feel better about the impending in laws tomorrow!

ledkr · 24/02/2011 17:15

yes ponyo,he will not be quite so excited when realises there is no food, just hid my expensive ham for dd packed lunches GrinTried to leave baby to have a winge in her swing as she is too fond of being held for my liking, caved in after 30 secs and she snuggled up and went to sleep,ah!they are so sweet i am a pushover haha.

ledkr · 24/02/2011 17:16

sorry oneof4 i have no idea, cant get much closer than your waters actually going can you?

wigglesrock · 24/02/2011 17:19

Oneofus sorry can't flick to previous pages but have you tried getting into the bath, nice and hot, over your bump.

Glad your night was a bit better pinkie and ponyo. BenMum I have upped Annas feeds to 120ml, she was draining too many 90mls Shock I have HV appt tomorrow morning and am being discharged from community midwife. Feel like a slightly bad mummy, dd1 lost her second tooth yesterday and I was so tired last night I forgot to "be" the toothfairy Blush Cue some tears this morning but managed to bluff my way out of it, think I may have blamed inclement weather conditions Grin

Good luck to anyone awaiting relatives arrivals, the benefit of living so close to most of our relatives is that we visit them, nice short visits, they make the tea/lunch etc, and we don't have to worry about cleaning!! Although Mr Wiggles will be vacuuming for the Health Visitor!!

hubbard86 · 24/02/2011 17:54

hi all, thanks for all the well wishes baby girl freya susan elizabeth was born at 12.17 during quite an eventful csec. She is perfectly healthy and is gorgeous at 8lb 1oz. They had to give her a hand with forceps so she has a couple of bruises but generally ok. I had a worse time. I felt fine until they took her out, then the placenta wouldn't completely detach as my uterus wasn't contracting. The medication they gave me to detach the uterus triggered an asthma attack and my bp plummeted but alls well now. I feel absolutly fine, so much better than 1st csec. Finally got a cuppa at around 2 while dh cuddled freya.

tadjennyp · 24/02/2011 18:37

Well done hubbard - gorgeous name! Hope recovery goes well. Good luck with all the visitors. I'm not getting any till June! Confused

wigglesrock · 24/02/2011 18:46

Grannyapple · 24/02/2011 19:58

Hi ladies ..pleased to announce that we had a baby boy this afternoon @3.05pm, weighing 7lb 1oz... Had a waterbirth & no pain relief whatsoever which I am amazed I managed....did end up with a small tear tho as he came out with his hand next to his face & he is still the same now lol! But apparently I have a high pain threshold, according to mw who stitched me... Had some aromatherapy & reflexology during the birth also....swear it sped things up at the crucial time..I cannot speak highly enough about the birthing unit @ PRU....

EauRouge · 24/02/2011 20:11

Congrats to Hubbard and GrannyApple! Glad to hear that both your babies are healthy :)

Today's attempt to bring on labour- dancing like a loon, bit of gardening and going on a enforced death march long walk with my mum. Now I am knackered and I feel like my pelvis is about to split. The baby has dropped down so far that climbing upstairs is a struggle because the bump is in the way! Hopefully this means I won't be long, really don't want to see that other MW next week....

oneof4, hope things get going soon!

smallblackflowers · 24/02/2011 20:51

Hello all, and congrats to all the new mummies. I've updated the stats with all our new arrivals.

Thomas is a lovely baby, sleeping like a dream during the day, and wanting to do anything but for most of the night.....so feeling a little knackered here at the moment. He's feeding really well though and it totally scrummy, so I can't complain too much (providing he sorts himself out soon!)

Thanks for doing that sbf. Ponyo had a little girl btw, though I can't remember when!

ledkr · 24/02/2011 23:24

well done hubbard and granny, great news.Hope you are both feeling well.Hubbard, get those legs moving in the bed and time getting up about an hour after pain killers xx

hubbard86 · 24/02/2011 23:31

got out of bed at 7. But was wrigglin around on the bed almost as soon as i was out of recovery. Can't believe how good i feel. Freya has just finished her 2nd feed so i must really put her down and get some sleep. Easier said than done tho

40Weeks · 24/02/2011 23:41

Well done granny and Hubbard great news, congrats to you both.

Fingers crossed oneof4 it won't be long, the only other thing I can think of is aromatherapy but bit late to go out and buy some oils! But other than that just keep moving, housework is always good! How 1950's!!

Been having mild contractions since about 9.30 -10pm, every 10 mins or so now. Not sure if it's a false alarm though after thinking it was kicking off on Tuesday. Pretty painful though, & dh just fallen asleep! Today was my due date and best mate had her little boy today so have some catching up to do! And tomorrow is my mums bday! Would be nice if it wasn't baby playing games

Wonder how angels is doing.

Damn should have had another contraction by now. Tempted fate!

mubm · 25/02/2011 08:13

Congratulations to all the mummies with new babies and good luck to those still waiting. I haven't been very vocal on this thread, but was reading up from time to time before having my baby. Harry (still have to decide on middle name) was born on the 15th of february at 2:38 am. He was a tiny 5lbs 13oz for no obvious reason, but he's perfectly healthy and gorgeous.

I had contractions the night before which stopped the next morning and picked up again that afternoon, so not a short early labour. But once the contractions were really bothering me, it was very quick. I only got to the hospital about 40 minutes before he was born. The midwife seemed to think that I wasn't very far along and so I had to get dh to keep going out and asking her for things (gas and air, birth ball, to be examined) while she read my notes outside the room. She asked if i wanted to wee first or be examined and then turned around to find me naked and climbing onto the bed. It was quite satisfying to find that I was fully dilated and ready to push. And the pushing was sooo much faster and easier this time! The only bad part was that I actually got a worse tear (2nd degree). Otherwise a MUCH better experience during and after the birth compared to the first time. I don't feel like I'm in a fog of trauma and exhaustion.

Grannyapple · 25/02/2011 08:43

Name update....Nathaniel (Nate) Smith a reasonably good night...baby stirred every few hours for feed & then cuddle...he is still a bit mucusy so figured laying on him side was better....then got a straight 2 hrs which made a difference ESP in hospital. Going to get some shut eye when mr grannyapple comes to take us home!

knittakid · 25/02/2011 10:22

Oh congrats hubbard, granny and mubm!
No news from angels?

40 hope things pick up again! and that eau's attempts are working...

Am starting to be a bit terrified as obviously nothing is happening here appart from period pain and some low abdomen/hips tightening, but nothing regular, and thinking perhaps it's just baby engaging, which nobody said could hurt!!! so if that hurts, how will the contractions feel??? I think I have the opposite of grannys high pain threshold Sad

ledkr · 25/02/2011 10:40

poor angels i am seriously worried now,is it need to who is in touch.Maybe angels doesnt have i phone??
Well its the big day today!! The arrival of the pils!I have already planned my evenings viewing in my room.I had a large glass of wine last night and a friend was texting me saying they would be lined up on my sofa awaiting food like dolphins arr arr I just couldnt stop laughing.Im escaping to her hosue tomorrow afternoon and have this vision of returning late a bit drunk and the pils just hearing singing as i stagger up the path Grin

ILovePonyo · 25/02/2011 11:14

knitta sounds like contractions to me?! Don't think baby engaging hurts? Good luck, you'll be fine, I was thinking I couldn't do it when it was happening but you'll surprise yourself I reckon :)

Just checking in to say I am bloody knackered and the il's are arriving in an hour Angry :( So good luck with feeding the masses ledkr, I might end up goin g for a sleep whilst they're here but they are bringing their grandson who cries a lot. Great.

Grannyapple lovely name for your ds by the way :)
