Hope angels has some news for us all tomorrow too....

americanexpat · 24/02/2011 00:13

Congratulations to all the new arrivals (too many to list individually now!).

Leo and I spent last night in the midwife unit, as they were concerned about his weight loss and gave us a hand with breastfeeding technique. I had a much better night's sleep and today he's also settling much better (hopefully it lasts into tonight). The midwives also scolded me for not taking better care of myself with eating and drinking. It's so hard to remember to put myself first sometimes but if I'm not eating well, he's not eating well. I seem to have completely lost my appetite now so I have to force myself to eat.

tadjennyp · 24/02/2011 01:07

Good luck granny. Look after yourself expat. Have some cereal bars handy and one of those large exercise bottles for water and then you won't forget to eat. Hopefully your dh will be able to do some cooking for you, and if he makes sandwiches to take to work, he can make one for you too and leave it in the fridge!

Oneof4 · 24/02/2011 03:33

Oooo Granny I'll race you - my waters went about an hour ago! Just debating whether to wake DH or let him sleep on for a bit...

yestheyareallmine · 24/02/2011 03:46

Good luck Oneof4 :)

tadjennyp · 24/02/2011 04:05

Good luck oneof4!

40Weeks · 24/02/2011 08:14

Ooh morning girls! What a lot of Excitement! Good luck everyone.

Also just remembered a top tip from ds1 - drinking peppermint or fennel tea helped his digestion. I would drink lots of it but if bottle feeding then make up a cup and dilute it with their drinking water. It really did help his little tummy. Have just bought some as always have windy babies. I blame the father Wink

40Weeks · 24/02/2011 08:18

Obv check with your mw or hv though if giving in their water, just in case!

WaddlingSheep · 24/02/2011 08:28

Hi all! Smile

Good luck OneOf4 and GrannyApple! Wonder who will be first? Grin Looking forward to hearing your news!

Hope Angels is ok.

We got home at about 10.30 on Tuesday night. We opted for 6 hour discharge although it was a bit longer as they were busy.

DD1 loves her little sister Smile. DD2 is doing well but feeding is a bit eratic ATM and she's only been taking about 20mls at the most. She's been bringing up a lot of mucus too.

I'm feeling fine although I'm having afterpains this time. I didn't really get them last time but apparently they get worse after each child. I've been referred for physio due to separated abdominal muscles. The MW said she could feel my intestines when she pressed on my tummy (yuck!).

Knitta I'm still hand holding Smile. I really did think I would be pg until March.

DH didn't believe I was in labour on Tuesday morning and he buggered off to work!!!! Shock I said, "I don't think you should go as I really think this is it!" and he laughed and said, "you said that the other day!" He was back within the hour and I was already 7 cms dilated when we got to hospital!

hubbard86 · 24/02/2011 09:25

just sitting waiting to go up to theatre. I could murder a cup of tea i'm so thirsty. Good luck granny and oneof4 and angels

PinkiePoo · 24/02/2011 09:28

Good luck to all those in labour or about to be induced. Hope for a speedy labour and pain free Hmm.

Well, had a much better nights sleep. We have put her on Comfort milk, still using Colief, propped up her basket, gave her a dummy and it made such a difference. She still was in discomfort, but i had to bite my lip and try and ignore it, as i cannot keep picking her up and cuddling her as much as i love it...it will not make for an easy life later!!

Fingers crossed it wasn't a fluke and happens again tonight, but i feel so refreshed today, and feel like me again!!!!

janedoe25 · 24/02/2011 09:36

oooh good luck ladies in labour and hubbard WITH THE C SEC. Im still hand holding till march too, im soooo Envy of you all in labour!

Hope angels is ok sounds like she has been having a rough ride Sad

ledkr · 24/02/2011 10:35

Really feeling for angels she was the one out of all of us that was sooo worried, lets hope her lack contact means shes cuddling baby and not still labouring.

ledkr · 24/02/2011 10:43

pinkie glad you had a better night.Funnily enough I DIDNT haha Delilah had her usual "routine"disrupted by our day out.We were back late and she had arsed around all day hence flat out in carseat with a wet nappy.I had to get her out to change and feed her and she appeared to settle ok.We had some wine-which didnt help later-then settled about 11.D woke up at 12.30 wide awake took a fussy feed then was stil awake squirming and crying a bit.At 2am i woke dh and told him i was clocking out cos felt stressed and tired,dh took over and she took some more bottle before sleeping,up again at 5 but settled till 10 so as its half term we all slept in thank god.
Going to have a nice lazy day today in prep for pils tomorrow.I know you lot will be waiting with baited breath haha.

debka · 24/02/2011 10:50

ledkr I'm getting payback from being so smug yesterday too- S settled down at 9ish but then woke at 12, I was up till 1.15, then again at 4 till 6. Managed to sleep till 8 but HV was coming at 9 so had to get up and clean the house Grin. Remember that mad man with the HV paranoia on the childbirth board?

Glad you had a better night pinkie, it really doesn't last forever.

Looking forward to new arrivals granny and oneof4!!!

Bensmum76 · 24/02/2011 11:04

Hi all, seems to be lots happening on here. Noah is bottle fed and last night fed every two hours, around 70 ml each time. He finished with a 90 ml feed at 5.30am then slept til 9am. Dh and I are both exhausted especially as we had to get up at 8 with Brn. Noah took a 90ml feed again at 9 am. He's such a little piggy! The midwives told us his tummy is only tiny so he won't take much milk but blimey he is!
Have read through all posts but baby brain makes all info go in one ear and out the other! But hoping all of you are ok xx

knittakid · 24/02/2011 11:05

a race! how exciting Grin, good luck!

Thanks for hand-holding, in truth there aren't that many days till March...Confused

ledkr · 24/02/2011 11:08

deb thanks for reminding me i was being punished for my smugness Grin It did cross my mind but i pushed it to the back of my half drunk and sleep deprived brain.Especially as i didnt remember any of it as i thrust her towards dh at 2am.I am deliberatly not cleaning mine to piss off the pils.It will be interesting to see if dh does anything to prep for their arrival cos i usually do it whilst moaning that they are "your parents"
I am going to my mates for a drink Fri night and then out Sat afternoon.Sorry but i just cant be around them since they behaved so badly when i bought D home.

debka · 24/02/2011 11:13
Grin

Actually DH cleaned mine as I was pinned to the sofa by bfing baby. What DH didn't realise is that she'd dropped off by the time I asked him to empty all the bins! Grin

ILovePonyo · 24/02/2011 11:18

Hi all - a better night here for us too, I feel much better today, dd seemed much better last night, might be the Infacol? Glad you had a good night too pinkie :)

We went to the docs this morning though as we were a bit worried about her umbilical cord, it was very red around the bottom, had a bit of pus and smelled SO bad. Got to the docs appointment - the bloody thing had only dropped off in the half hour since we'd changed her nappy and got to the surgery! However it is a bit infected still apparently so we've got some cream for it.

Good luck to all those who have things starting today - lots going on! Hope you get a lovely Brew soon hubbard

waddling the day I had dd I sent dp off to work at 8am, told him I'd be fine, I was ringing him up at 8.30am telling him to come back to take me to hospital - dd was born just after 12noon! Grin

JustOneMorePlease · 24/02/2011 11:20

Hi can't wait to hear of the next batch of new arrivals.

Took the advice of I think need to and last night had a long bath, plucked the old eyebrows, washed and straightened my hair. Did make me perk up a lot.

Just woken A up to feed as one of my boobs was going to pop. He loves to snooze all day and feed all night. So gave him a prod! Desperate to not get mastitis as I have done with all the other three.

Lol a the strange hv hating man thread!!

Looking forward to pil stories this weekend, both bro in law and sis in law and partners here this weekend, have already briefed dh on the 'game plan'. They have to piss off for meals. There is already five mouths of our own to sort out without theirs. Also they can help themselves to their endless cups of tea/coffee.

Watch out feisty justonemore about.

Xx

ILovePonyo · 24/02/2011 11:26

It took me so long to type that one handed I missed your posts ledkr and deb!

I like your style with the cleaning - might try that myself as it is usually me running around cleaning like an idiot whilst feeling resentful that they are dps family. However he is blind to mess/dirt and I don't want to give his mum a reason to slag me off for having a grubby house Blush (not a complete slattern honest).

bensmum wow every 2 hours - tiring! Bit random but have you noticed your hands are more chapped with all the hand washing for bottles? my knuckles are actually cracked, yuk.

ledkr · 24/02/2011 12:01

Yeah but i no longer give a fig if she thinks im grubby and also when dh is doing it ive got the baby anyway so no win.
Im with you on the food too,i did a small shop Monday and it was 80 quid.Im not sure i can afford to feed 4 extra adults and why do they bring their partners too?
How are you going to do the "piss off for meals" thinG?? PLEASE ADVISE.
Yes to the knarled hands too, even dh has it and ive always teased him for his soft girly hands. Its our knuckles too.Soap and lory hand cream is very good.Dont like rubber gloves they always seem a bit grubby to me.
Trying a bit of light discipline today with d,wont work tho/
Does anyones baby like a bath? Delilah hates it,have tried tummy tub and traditonal bath, hates both.
