Took it upon myself to start a new thread. Everyone's popping right now!

PS: Sorry for the awful rhyme, it was all I could think of Blush

Ponyo what size of babygros are you using? DD1 was the same, she was 6lbs10 but really long.

ILovePonyo · 22/02/2011 17:19

wiggles I'm using mamas and papas tiny baby which say up to 7lbs but I think they might have shrunk a bit in the wash - I do stretch them out after washing but I think the problem is more that dd's feet are just so long!

Oh, I went to Sainsburys on my own the other day (it seems supermarkets are the place to be!) and to be honest felt more freaked out at being out sans bump/baby - I was glad to get home!

wigglesrock · 22/02/2011 17:25

Ponyo I think Next do a size that is up to 7lbs 6 or something like that, it might fit a bit better but will probably drown her weight wise.

Apparently Sainsburys have a sale on baby equipment, bouncers, pop up moses baskets etc, if anyone needs anything.

ILovePonyo · 22/02/2011 17:33

Ah cool, thanks wiggles. I didn't even think of Next you know. Will have a look, might have a little trip out tomorrow :)

PinkiePoo · 22/02/2011 17:52

I'm really sorry....this is going to be a very self-indulgent post, but I am at my wits end.

Molly, has since birth crunched her stomach up and grimace, and she always does this especially at stupid o'clock in the morning. She burps often when i wind her, but it never seems to fully get rid of it. Now since last night, her poo's have been explosive, they are yellow but just alot of it, and this afternoon, an hour after having 3 oz milk she literally was laying down on me and started to heave and then brought up the whole bottle, projectile and through her nose. I am so worried, rung HV and she said try colic drops, but i really don't think it is colic and she does not cry loads.

Reflux? any one with any advice on this...i just want her to feed normally and not lose weight. STRESSED OUT!!!!

WaddlingSheep · 22/02/2011 18:08

Hi everyone! Haven't had a chance to catch up with the thread but congrats to anyone who has had their babies! Grin

Just wanted to share my own bit of news:

Charlotte (Lottie) was born today at 2.20pm weighing 8 lbs 3.5ozs, so smaller than her big sis despite all the fuss that I made Wink. Easy labour, just got through it with gas and air although the end bit stung like a bastard (I didn't feel it last time due to epi). Still in hospital but they've said we'll probably be able to go home later, fingers crossed!

tadjennyp · 22/02/2011 18:09

Sorry pinkie, didn't want to leave you unanswered, but I don't know much about bottle feeding. They do make special colic teats, don't they? Samuel had a rough night last night too. Hoping it's not a trend here either. Hugs from Oregon.

tadjennyp · 22/02/2011 18:11

Yay, waddling! Congratulations. Hope you get to go home soon and enjoy your snuggles.

WaddlingSheep · 22/02/2011 18:15

PinkiePoo, try infacol. It's brill it will really help her get her wind up as that's what it sounds like.

Bensmum76 · 22/02/2011 19:56

Hi and congrats to all who have had their babies. I'm pleased to announce that Noah was born on Sunday at 3.03pm weighing in at 9 lbs. I have had period pains on and off for two weeks, then felt really unwell all day Saturday and had a headache. I woke up at 1amish Sunday feeling sick with a headache and tummy pains. Rang hospital as concerned due to having late onset pre eclampsia with my first pregnancy, and was told to go in. We drove in at 3am and I had my first contraction on the way there but didn't know what it was. On examination was already 3/4cm dialated. By 11am nothing had changed so was sent home. Went to parents in law as home too far away, had bath then contractions really started, waters started breaking and I was freaking out with the pain and need to push. Back to hospital at 2pm and Noah was born at 3pm. Great birth but then placenta got stuck so ended up with epidural and op to get it out. Had second degree tear too. Felt pretty awful but memory already fading.
Noah is settling in well and Ben seems to be taking to him well xx

40Weeks · 22/02/2011 20:21

Congratulations bensmum and waddling great to hear your news, keep 'em coming ladies! Ouch about the tear though Sad after all that.

pinkie if it's really bad wind then I second infacol, it really does help. If it's reflux then she would be stressed when lying down, does that happen? Sometimes they do just vom up though, esp if the milk sits on trapped wind. Have you tried googling more info - how much milk dies she take in a feed and how long does it take her to finish it? Have also heard good things about dr browns bottles, although haven't used them myself as bf and they are pricey but apparently worth it. Hope she settles soon for you

ledkr · 22/02/2011 21:01

Pinkie its me again. Delilah has reflux.
Tongue sticking out?
White tounge and white foamy mouth?
Sick a lot?
Arching back?
If you think its reflux then see gp asap, meds help loads.
In the meantime, swaddle her really tight and hold her up right against you and rock and shush her thru the attacks whilst furiously patting her bum.
Could offer tiny sips of cooled boiled water too as nutralises the acid. Also keep her upright after feeds for 30mins.
Explosive poohs are a sign too.

ledkr · 22/02/2011 21:03

def get the vomit thru the nose checked too,let me know how it goes i am out tomorrow but will check messages when back.Good luck.

debka · 22/02/2011 21:10

Great news for all these births!!

Well done sbf, bensmum and waddling . Sounds grim having an op after doing it all by yourself bensmum :(

I second (or third) the infacol, ponyo, plus make sure you wind before a feed as well. And put her in a babygrow that's too big- it's bad to squash their feet as their little bones are still v soft. S has already outgrown newborn size- she's in 0-3mo now. I reckon she's approaching 11lb...

My girl keeps surprising me as to how well she sleeps at night too ledkr , lets spread the sleep vibes to the rest of the thread!

Thinking of angels hope she's not panicking...

PDR · 22/02/2011 21:17

Big congratulations to all the new babies!

Sending lots of labour vibes to those who are still waiting!

All good here - DS1 has taken to the baby very well (better than I expected tbh) and as George has been mainly asleep since he was born we are all reasonably well rested.

Feeding is a slight issue - I can't get him to breastfeed "properly" - might start a thread later if I can be bothered asking for help but basically I am trying him at the breast for 20-30mins for each feed then usually give up and give him a bottle which he takes no problem. Not the end of the world - DS1 was FF - I had just hoped I'd get a crack at BF this time as we won't be having another baby so kind of my last chance!

We registered George this morning so he's all official now :) Time is going quite quickly and I feel kind of sad that DH will be going back to work on 7th. He's had a month off in total and we will all miss having him around all the time (never thought I'd say that Grin)!

ledkr · 22/02/2011 21:18

deb you dont deserve a sleeping baby cos you are in your thin jeans
I am scared she will change tho.Interesting tonight tho cos she has nodded off in the swing so not her usual routine so i may well eat my words. On a happier note i was pleasantly surprised to watch come dine with me at 3 am,and it wasnt one id seen :)made a lovely change from the steam mop.
ponyo i will be in bed by 8 shortly after i arrive home from my mates where i will be spending the day.Gonna leave them all to it taking over my house, dont want to be around a strange young boy with my big belly and sore smelly scar Angry

debka · 23/02/2011 06:35

Can i point out ledkr my thin jeans are a size 20!!!!

i know what you mean re changing, its easy when you know what they do! S had her last feed at 7.30 last night then slept till 2.30!!!! if i'dgone to bed at 8 i'd have got 6 hrs sleep! i didn't, of course, went at 10!! we're up for the day now at 6 though before you all get too Envy!!!

i'm thinking of getting Glee off lovefilm to watch in the dead of night, my sisters are big fans- anyone here watch it?

pdr not an expert by any means but i thought that bottle feeding is a lot easier for babies than bf so they can get 'lazy' and not feed from the breast.

ledkr · 23/02/2011 07:44

deb i dont believe you, your like that posh spice off the telly!
Yep D is a gem,i picked her up out of the swing at 10 ans she went straight back down in basket until 3.30 hadnt been fed since 7.30 :)Been awake since 7am tho but no school so just having tea in bed.Lush.
We are off to sealife in Brum today, will have to queue for ages as got vouchers so cant book online and it is about half the price, was tempted to do it anyway but need to be more thrifty now on mat leave this means primark instead of oasis Shock
Do you not sleep when the baby sleeps like we are told,i wonder if anyone actually does that,we dont sleep until 11-12 cos we watch the wire.
pinkypoo i have answered your post re molly a few posts up please let me know how you all are today.

Tarlia · 23/02/2011 09:31

Congratulations on all of the new babies, I've lost track! w.sheep, maybe you did have your edd right afteral!?

ponyo, I'd use the bigger size. Just to note, Next first size or newborn, not sure what they call them without looking, meant to do until 7lb4ish, never fit our 6lb6 tiddler in the length or feet, he was 51cm, weight wise they would have been perfect there is heaps of room.

pinkie I feel for you, our little man is very windy too and impossible to burp :(. You should hear the noises coming from his bum! He also has explosive watery nappies, which I've been assured are fine, but it is so worrying. I don't think I can get infacol here, but maybe a trip to the apotek is in order to seek an alternative, thanks for the tip ladies.

pdr hope the bfing works out for you. We had to forget bfing on day 3 & 4 and express and give formula as he wouldn't latch at all. He was so sleepy, I was getting a bit stressed. On day 5 we started fresh and havnt looked back, he still enjoys an expressed bottle a day and has no problem switching between the two, so do not panic about that. Wishing you luck x

Enjoy sealife, ledkr.

wigglesrock · 23/02/2011 09:43

PinkiePoo How are you and Molly getting on? I dont use Infacol but lots of people I know swear by it. When I wind dds I sit them sideways on my knee and rock them in a circle, I know its hard to explain but my Dad says it looks like I'm stirring her, it seems to help. What bottles are you using? Have heard good reports about Dr Brown. Second Ledkr re checking out for reflux. Let us know how you are getting on. It can be really frightening when babies start vomiting, dd2 was a terrible puker when feeding. Good luck xxx

Bensmum76 Congratulations, love love the name - Noah was my boys name, at least I don't have to fight you for it Grin

waddling yay, you will be waddling no more, beautiful name, congratulations, take care xx

Having good day, my mum has dd2 for the morning and dd1 is at school, just me, Mr Wiggles and Anna, feels really weird and v quiet without the others. Mr Wiggles also surprised me this morning by telling me he had arranged a few days extra off work. He was due to go back tomorrow but now isn't going back until Monday night.

ILovePonyo · 23/02/2011 09:54

hi all, am just doing a quick one handed post to sympathise with you pinkie, how are you doing? Last night was the worst night so far, dd also pulling her legs up, grimicing, crying a lot. She feeds regularly but doesn't bring up loads of wind. No vomiting. Every time i tried to put her in moses basket she woke and cried, i am so tired. am going to try and sleep when she does but am feeling so anxious that every little noise she makes keeps me awake.

Sorry for depressing post first thing, i hope the rest of you enjoy your days, sounds like there are some nice things planned!

PinkiePoo · 23/02/2011 10:03

ledkr she has EVERYTHING you mentioned. HV coming today and going to mention reflux as it definately not colick. I have had the worst night sleep ever. We cannot lay her down in her moses basket as she just grimaces....at the end of my tether!!

ilove sounds like we had similar nights.

I really hope this passes soon!!!!

ILovePonyo · 23/02/2011 10:16

pinkie good luck with your hv - will check back later to see how you got on. Really feel for you, fingers crossed it passes very soon eh.

ledkr · 23/02/2011 10:24

pony0 check about reflux too, dont be fobbed off,its very common, google it and then present list of symptoms to gp.good luck pinkie, ill be back on later, will pm you my number if you want to talk, the mums netters have helped me out loads with D x

ledkr · 23/02/2011 10:29

hv can, and only can, be a little bit clueless,if no luck take yourself off to the gp asap, meds are very effective, there is no need for the poor things to suffer or you.
