ledkr · 19/02/2011 08:42

angels is that why you are up sp early? The trauma of last night Grin

wiggles Delilah usually feeds in the night but sleeps till 9.30 so was looking forward to today=no school so can sleep on,she took big feed at 5am and went back off,me thinking mmmmmm can sleep until 9 but of course she was up at 7.30.She felt bit cold so i put her in with us and shes gone back off but i cant go back to sleep as would be too worried re cot death.

Question?Do you change nappy in the dead of night?I tend not to if its clean and not soaking (I check up the side)cos it wakes them up too much.Am i a terrible mother?

Grannyapple · 19/02/2011 08:49

Hey angels so with you on the 'marital relatuons' as u so politely call it-we too attempted a bit of action last night-was the funniest ever, but I think dh was just ecstatic to get some after the recent drought Grin

Not much else happening here & weather looks pretty miserable for walking today. Was due Tuesday last week, sweep booked in for next thurs (hooping won't need it) then next route will be induction I guess......trying to hold off on that one as long as possible so I can still have the waterbirth at the MLU @ PRUH.

Hope everyone has a lovely w/e with the newborns .....& hopefully some news this w/e for those still waiting!

knittakid · 19/02/2011 09:53

Huuuuuge congratulations to delia, elle and amer!!!! well done to you! hope scars and tearing heal quickly and easily and you get to enjoy lots of lovely cuddles!

angels not sure 'marital relations' are meant to take effect so quickly? don't know really, still it's only Saturday... (or that I keep telling myself).

Although I am not yet past my edd I had been trying to talk LO into arriving this weekend. Had a drumming gig last night that I thought would kickstart things, and the vodka, spicy food, etc last week, but alas, nothing here. It's amazing how much one can cling on to a tiny bit of pain and hope it grows/comes back!!
Perhaps he's giving me time to finish all the odd jobs I wanted to do (clean bike, put eyes on hhis knitted elephant, finish the handmade christmas persents I started last week...) but the nesting insticnt is completely gone!!!

Sorry, again a not very interesting me post Blush.

Tarlia · 19/02/2011 10:52

Congratulations, Elle and Expat! I hope you are both enjoying newborn snuggles.

We change mid fed, every fed, ledkr, but waking him is the reason for it, or he won't fed enough. I don't see a problem with not if it's unnecessary, def does not make you a terrible mum!! Glad to hear the cleft appointment went well.

Angels, have my fingers crossed it works out for you ;)

knitta Fingers crossed for you too, hope it kicks off this weekend!

MizK · 19/02/2011 11:05

Congratulations elle, expat and delia! love hearing about all these new babies!

Cassia is a week old today, can't believe it! She is so gorgeous, cant wait to put some pics on to show you all but am rubbish at that sort of thing so will have to wait til DD gets home later to help me!

She is sleeping OK but seems to want most of her milk in the evening and night then snooze all day (lazybones). As such am feeling pretty sleep deprived. its a bit hard to nap in the day when you have older children though cause I want to keep everything as normal as poss for them (they have a different dad to Cassia so i don't want them to feel left out in any way). How are you all dealing with tiredness/night feeds? I sometimes feel I'm going to fall asleep while feeding or winding her!

Good luck to all the pg ladies still waiting and hope you all manage to get some rest before the new arrivals x

Oneof4 · 19/02/2011 11:29

Angels - well done for achieving some maritals! I'm very impressed. Apparently sperm contains the same chemicals as the gel they put on your cervix for an induction, so I guess it could take the same amount of time to work. Have you tried nipple-tweaking? :) I know someone who swears by it, but says you have to keep it up for 20/30 minutes to really get things going.

Ledkr a couple of people have told me that if a nappy is just wet (but not soaking) then it's fine to leave it.

I managed to completely repulse my mum last night when she jokingly said "enjoy your enema" and I replied that they don't do that anymore. Looooooong silence while she worked out what happened instead. And then I told her we were packing a sieve for DH to use in the birthing pool and she nearly put the phone down! He he he...

PinkiePoo · 19/02/2011 12:14

ledkr how long till the your tummy stops hurting...don't get me wrong, i feel good, but feel like they took my tummy muscles out and forgot to put them back in....

I would love her to be a dancer...but i won't be a pushy mum, ok maybe i will!!

Quick question for all the mums out there...Molly is now 8 days old and she is only having about 2 oz every 3 hours...should i be concerned she is not having enough?

When i was feeding her in the hospital with the aptimil glass bottles, she was really progressing with the feeds, but since we got back we are using Avent bottles with cow and gate formula, but she just doesn't eat it all!!! Making mummy worried!! x

ILovePonyo · 19/02/2011 12:39

Hi all, congrats to all the new mummies, some beautiful baby names out there!

MizK your dd sounds just like ours (5 days old today!) lots of sleeping at daytime and less so at night, also more feeding at night. I find feeding her quite relaxing so have to be really careful not to nod off when feeding her - scary! Glad its not just me feeling exhausted - to be expected I know - lots of respect to you with older children - dd is my first!

Pinkie I am by no means an expert but I think that sounds ok - my dd wasn't feeding as regularly as is reommended and still isn't, bu the midwife said as long as its little and often thats ok. If you are worried ring your midwife and ask her? Its so easy to worry about this kind of thing isn't it - I have become obsessed with how much she has drank/pooed/weed etc!

ledkr Like Tarlia I also only change nappy to wake her so she feeds more - and NO you are not a terrible mother!! :)

Deliaskis · 19/02/2011 12:54

So many posts, it's news news news all the time at the moment isn't it!

angels yes I saw your msg re me and my blues yesterday, it made me a bit hormonal to know people were thinking about me [self-absorbed icon] - but seriously it's actually so lovely to know we're all here for each other, going through many of the same ups and downs. Oh and PS you're very brave with the maritals, I don't think I could have managed it! Hope it works. We went for a little walk the evening I went into labour so maybe that is what did the trick.

Tarlia your little one sounds exactly like mine, and I've been told to wake her every 3 hours too. MW came today and she's lost slightly more weight than they wanted so have got to be rigid about the 3 hours now, but it's so hard when you feel like they reeeeeally don't want it. I suppose it's a bit like when adults are trying to lose/gain weight though, you have to train your body to some extent, to expect and need the right amount at around the right time. Claudia is a sleepy feeder too so we spend lots of time mid feed trying to wake her up again! Feels a bit mean but it seems to be the only way. My milk has really come in now though (ouch!) so hopefully we are breaking the back of it and will get established soon.

Ledkr like Tarlia we do nappies in the night (and every feed, maybe mid-feed too), but just to wake her up properly. I will confess though to sometimes putting the same one back on [another terrible mother emoticon]. I feel like we get through lots of 'consumables' and we've only had her 3 days!

Congrats to expat , elle and anyone I have missed, it's even harder to keep up with news now I have a new tiny person in my life!

Lots of luck and fingers crossed to those waiting, just think in a few days, there will be literally nobody still waiting at all. One way or another all those babies will be out soon!

Take care ladies, this seems like an odd thing to say to a load of internet people, but lots of love to you all, it's a roller coaster time isn't it!
Dx

smallblackflowers · 19/02/2011 17:41

Congratulations to all of the new mummies Smile

Unfortunately I'm still not one of them yet! Looks like I'll be in for the induction tomorrow morning, so should have a baby in the next 48 hours. Was so hoping for a natural birth, but guess it is just not meant to be. Sad Maybe next time Wink

I only change ds' nappy if he is wet through or has pooed, which he was doing for England last night! (I guess he's not British yet as we haven't registered him with the Embassy Shock ). I can't believe he is 2 weeks old today either! I fell asleep at 8 o'clock last night and slept for an hour, which was a good job as after that didn't get to sleep again till 2!

Your 'marital relations' story made me laugh angels! My OB asked me what contraceptive I wanted to use and I just said Samuel! Looking forward to having my body back too!

Good luck with the labours and feeding and banishing of pesky baby blues (and *ledkr's ILs)!

slowangels1 · 19/02/2011 19:28

sbf gd lk with induction tomorrow - maybe it will be a race between us with my induction on mon!

Getting BHs but nothing more exciting here. ANyone know if a headache can signify beginnings of labour? Have had one all day and very annoying. It reminded me I often get headache for the day or so before I get my period.....so am a little hopeful might be same thing for baby [clutching at straws emoticon]

smallblackflowers · 19/02/2011 20:04

thanks angels, good luck for monday for you too. I'm also clutching at straws with every twinge that I get, but have pretty much resigned myself to tomorrow now. Have repacked my labour bags for the long haul, and have dug out a cool bag too (thanks for the inspiration Smile ) See you on the other side! (Although I may post from the hospital if I get bored and end up coughing up for hospital tv and internet - £5 for 24 hours)

ledkr · 19/02/2011 20:05

Hello all you been busy.
Delilah only took 2oz until late last week and she was 3 wks,she is 3wks 2 days now and is now taking 3oz but sometimes goes for 3 or 4 hrs or longer but will always make up for it later such as having about 7oz in dribs and drabs during her unsettled period.
Yes look out for wees and poohs too,if they are yellow then she is feeding enough.Mw will weigh her wont she?
Pinkietummy just gets better over time, worse when you do stuff and too much.I am feeling sore still scar is bit in fected but the bruised tummy muscles you describe are still there.Try to rest and not do too much.
Good luck with inductions sbf and angels.Ill be thinking of you lots xxx

knittakid · 19/02/2011 22:51

good luck tomorrow sbf.

Tarlia · 20/02/2011 05:01

Good luck, Sbf.

janedoe25 · 20/02/2011 10:22

Good luck sbf cant wait to hear of hte new arrival!

Today is my due date, however i dont think this baby has any inclination to come out!

wigglesrock · 20/02/2011 12:16

Morning all
Good luck sbf, Angels good luck for tomorrow, ps don't get your hopes up but I had a stinking headache the day I had Anna! Again v impressed re marital relations although am starting to comtemplate feeling slightly in the mood.

Booked our holiday yesterday Grin, all done and dusted Ibiza here we come.

Ledkr I don't change nappies at every night feed, only if they are very wet or obviously dirty, although I do take my life into my own hands and if I'm not sure I poke a finger into the side of the nappy, so far have managed to dodge any poo but its only a matter of time!!!

Anna had her heel prick test this morning and is still huffing with me, may have to nip out and buy her some more cute babygros to make her feel better Grin

cler · 20/02/2011 12:42

Congratulations to everyone on the births of there little ones. My little fella will be 7 weeks on wed and the time has gone far to fast. He spent first 2 weeks in special care then a week ago he spent over a week in hospital with 4 days in intensive care. He had really bad bronchiolitis so he couldnt breath properly and kept having apneas. He was on a special breathing machine for days then needed oxygen after that and he wasnt aloud any milk because it was to much on his lungs so he was on a drip. When he could finally start having milk he was tube fed to monitor amount he could have but he is now breast feeding really well. He now weighs 7lb 14oz so he is very underweight for his age but he is growing so there not concerened. Even though weve had a few hick ups im loving being a mummy again.

slowangels1 · 20/02/2011 12:45

thanks for the gl messages (and wiggles for the hope re: headaches - although this one has been a good 2 days long so far) but seems sbf may win this race hands down as I phoned hospital to confirm time to arrive for induction and they have no record of me booked in Shock Confused . I'm awaiting a call to see what on earth is going on so may have to wait a little longer (come on baby.....get yourself out before they force you). Is it wrong to be a little pleased at the prospect of waiting a bit longer? I sort of hope they can't fit me in so I have more of a chance for things to start naturally.

ozzysocks · 20/02/2011 12:53

Congrats to ElleB, Delia and Expat what lovely names :)
Good luck SBF and Angels with inductions.
I have my c section tomorrow morning so hopefully should have baby news tomorrow Grin. Very excited/nervous now and would be really pleased if this SPD disappeared then too as I have been stuck in bed since wed!! Oh well time to repack my bags again :)

ozzysocks · 20/02/2011 13:02

Angels No record Shock how weird, maybe its fate and you will start yourself??
When I was 41w with DS2 I had a really bumpy car ride on a farm track and went into labour a few hours later[hmmm]. Otherwise I have a friend that swears a brisk walk did it for her each time. Good luck :)

40Weeks · 20/02/2011 13:25

Hello ladies

Congrats on yet more lovely are arrivals! And good luck for tomorrow sbf and possibly angels depending on what happens! Would be nice to go naturally but also I guess you are fed up waiting! Go for a long walk, seems to be the most effective from comments I have read on here as well as RL. Helps get baby's head in the right position for the GO button!

Good luck everyone

40Weeks · 20/02/2011 13:27

New arrivals Wink

ledkr · 20/02/2011 13:46
