Hi all, and big congrats to wiggles and mizk !! :)

needto that's a very impressive weight gain for 10 days, you are definitely doing something right! S was weighed on Sunday at 5 days and she'd lost 5oz, but at 10lb5 it's not a huge amount! She is feeding very well now, a bit too well last night :( every 2-3 hours. Got PiL's, well, MiL and SiL, coming today (FiL is scared of the Dartford bridge so never comes), hope they let me get some rest.

S is definitely a 2nd baby- she was tired and asking for feeding but I knew she'd have a suck then go to sleep. I was busy with DD1 and cleaning the house ready for PiLs so didn't have time to sit down for maybe half an hour, so put her in her moses basket, she cried for 5 minutes then went to sleep! Never did that so early with DD1, but am glad it worked. Then I got the kitchen cleaned, a cake baked and floors washed! (I always have lots of energy in the morning, then really regret doing so much in the afternoon!)

janedoe sweeps are definitely not comfortable. Relaxing makes them slightly more bearable but it's not nice. I'm really not convinced they do much, I had 7 this pg!! (they give you a sweep each time you get the prostin, and I had 6 doses).

Have a good day everyone, hope there are more babies here soon :)

WaddlingSheep · 16/02/2011 11:07

Janedoe sweeps are a little uncomfortable but nothing to be frightened of/worry about. I'd never had one until Sunday. It's not as bad as a smear test. I have another sweep booked for next week. I'm a bit sceptical as to whether they work though because I was getting quite a lot of contractions before the sweep on Sunday and they've since stopped Hmm, despite the MW saying that it should help things along! I think that they're less uncomfortable the more favourable your cervix is. If it's completely closed they can't do it.

WaddlingSheep · 16/02/2011 11:09

Wow Debka sounds like you're getting so much done! Baking, washing the floors...can you come round to my house please? Grin It sounds like you're all doing so well! Smile good luck with the inlaws!

slowangels1 · 16/02/2011 11:16

debka glad you're getting on well and v interesting re: getting a sweep every time you get prostin - I'm having an induction on monday with that to begin but no one told me that when they were explaining the induction process Shock. I just wish I would get told everything so I knew what was going to happen - I keep being told different things re: my hospitals policy on various things and it's so unsettling.

needto hope your GP sorts you out when you visit them - let us know how you're going and great news re: weight gain in ben - you must be shattered with all that feeding!

I'm feeling a nesting urge to clean but just can't quite be bothered to get up and do anything [lazy emoticon]

WaddlingSheep · 16/02/2011 11:26

Good luck for Monday Angels! I didn't realise you were being induced.

debka · 16/02/2011 11:28

angels I found with my first induction I was nervous before hand but once I was in hospital I really relaxed as someone else was taking care of me and responsible for me!

slowangels1 · 16/02/2011 12:34

oh yes waddling - hence why I'm trying to now hurry things along! They are inducing me on due date as baby is looking to be so huge they don't want her to get any bigger.

debka hope my hospital are as caring with me as they were with you - btw - was your DH allowed to stay with you when you were being induced or was he sent home and told they'd ring if anything happens? (I was told DH would stay with me should things move quickly but now they say he can't and will have to await phone call - and we don't exactly live that close to hospital Confused. Just wondered if this was common practice).

PinkElephant73 · 16/02/2011 13:09

congrats to Wiggles and MizK! Having a sweep + going for a walk seems to be the winning combination for bringing on labour then! (worked for me too).

to everyone overdue and waiting, there is still hope honestly. last week I was really fed up and had given up hope of my homebirth as cervix was closed and posterior at 40+6 when I had my first sweep, and DD was born 2 days later. good luck!

I am now on day 4 post birth and had forgotten what the recovery period is like! managed a walk round the block yesterday with DD in her pram and DH, and just been out for a slightly longer walk with my mum. Fair play to Debka but it will be a while before I am making any cakes or anything else!

PinkElephant73 · 16/02/2011 13:12

ps Angels good luck for Monday hope all goes well.

smallblackflowers · 16/02/2011 14:33

hello ladies Smile

debka I hope I'm as sorted as you seem to be a few days after my LO arrives - currently having an internal panic about how I'm going to cope with sleep deprivation and a toddler...

janedoe my sweeps have been uncomfortable, but only in the way that a smear is - you just have to lie back, try to relax and think about something else. Good luck.

pinkelephant is sounds like you are doing really well too. I don't think I managed a walk around the block until DD was 2 weeks old. Smile

I'm pleased to say that I had a show this morning - it wasn't particularly bloody, but it was large and very much how I would imagine a mucous plug would look! I hope this is a sign that things might happen before induction day on Sunday, but on the other hand I've had a message from my doula today saying that she's poorly with flu-like symptoms, and DH is in London.

JustOneMorePlease · 16/02/2011 16:05

Birth announcement!!!!!!!

Archie Frederick arrived this morning at 2.12 am. He was 7lb7 and is a cutie!

We have two besotted big brothers and one smitten big sister (long may it continue)!

It was a quickie, but had to go into hospital as all the community staff were on call outs. So missed out on my second home birth, but now couldn't care! From calling the ward to delivery it was one hour ten mins. She even offered an ambulance.!

Got there climbed on the bed desperate for some g and a and within 20 mins he was out. Phew.

Home this morning and shattered as was impossible to switch off and sleep, but he is lovely and sleep is for wimps anyway isn't it!!!!!!

Was out at a friends 'pampered chef' party in the evening so all a bit of a world wind.

Sorry it's me me but I'm all hyper!
Hope all with newbies are doing well and all waiting are trying to enjoy the final lap to baby.

Xxxx Smile

PDR · 16/02/2011 16:11

Have last NCT class tonight but will try to come back later to catch up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

smallblackflowers · 16/02/2011 16:14

tadjennyp · 16/02/2011 16:38

Congratulations justone - he sounds lush!

Breezey · 16/02/2011 16:39

congratulations wiggles and Mizk on your new arrivals, Our not so little (9lb 1oz) boy arrived yesterday, on what was initially his due date. I am a big fan of the sweep, which along with the walk I did on Monday must have done the trick. DH is a big fan of our M/W who arrived about 5 mins before the baby did. DC at school, but came home to see baby before he got dressed

tadjennyp · 16/02/2011 16:42

Congratulations breezey too! Any names yet? I am a fan of these convenient births! The subsequent ones seem to be fitting in already!

slowangels1 · 16/02/2011 17:14

congrats to justone and breezey. I love all this good news Grin

A couple of questions I have been pondering on today -
-do you actually give birth in your own nightie or a hospital gown? My mum swears it must be a hospital gown as if you had a drip and the your waters broke all over your nightie they'd have a job to get it off and change you (but I was sure you took your own)
-if I'm being induced and could be in hospital, do I wear nightie/pjs all the while I'm waiting for it to kick in/in early labour or do I wear 'normal' maternity clothes? Not really sure what to take to hospital.
Not important questions, just general wonderings Hmm

smallblackflowers · 16/02/2011 17:48

Angels, when I was induced I wore comfy maternity clothes - tracky bottoms and t-shirt and changed into my own nighty when the bad pains started, and gave birth in my nighty. Nothing got too dirty or ruined.;

Congratulations breezey lovely news Smile and a great birth story.

wigglesrock · 16/02/2011 18:39

Many thanks for all your good wishes, all going great here. Anna feeding every 3-4 hours and sleeping rest of time, but she's only a day old so all may change Smile Have posted photos.

Angels I wore cheapy nightie when giving birth and did the same as sbf when induced.

Breezy Justone MizK congratulations, enjoy the hugs!!

needto glad to see your getting some support xx

Ledkr I am awaiting news of in-laws visit with baited breath - really hope they make a big effort.

PDR Fingers crossed you're not waiting too long

Oneof4 · 16/02/2011 19:32

I'm welling up at all the lovely news - congratulations Breezy and JustOne, and what a great (quick!) birth story!

I've been really enjoying being on maternity leave (finally), catching up on sleep anytime I like and pottering about getting small jobs done. Can you tell I don't have a toddler to worry about like most of you! (and also that I'm not actually due until Saturday so haven't got bored of waiting yet!).

Keep up the flow of good news folks. :)

EauRouge · 16/02/2011 19:42

I'm starting to lose track! Congrats breezey and justone.

Still nothing for me, 2 days until EDD. I took DD to the zoo earlier (down a very bumpy road!) and I was walking around like John Wayne so I wonder if the baby's head has engaged.

ILovePonyo · 16/02/2011 20:14

Hi all, just a quick announcement - dd was born on 14th Feb (valentines baby!) after a ridiculously quick labour - a few hours and she arrived!

Will check back in when am able to read more - have started a thread in parenting b'cos feeling a bit "something" - anxious and unsure - all acceptable for a first time mum I;m sure but still a bit scary!

Good luck to those still waiting. Back soon :)

CantwaittoPopsy · 16/02/2011 20:57

Congrats to all the new mums - keep grabbing the laptop when DH goes out for his "last last" drink of the year ha ha (not). Am also fed up of waiting - mostly cos I have been getting messages and texts for weeks now and am trying hard not to tell everyone to leave me the f*ck alone! THey all know I was 16 days over last time so am suprised they are bothering yet - everytime I call anyone they answer the phone like Miss Marple trying to find out is baby hear yet - am tempted to say - yes arrived last week but couldn't be arsed to tell you (sly grin emoticon).
Have been having (phantom?) night pains and more BH and period pains - can't remember if had any last time though. Going to try some walking tomoz but am not too keen on sweeps cos I was unfavourable (i.e. bloody painful)for the whole time before DD arrived...though now have read all your posts saying they worked I might have to reconsider....
Been feeling sick and tired today - am feeling like nesting in and not emerging til this LO joins me.
Fingers crossed for more babies over next few days (mine included Grin)

tadjennyp · 16/02/2011 20:58

Congratulations IlovePonyo! Lovely news. Don't worry, I feel a bit anxious and I'm a third time Mum. It is normal to feel a bit odd, just make sure you have plenty of time for you.

ledkr · 16/02/2011 21:06

great news everyone well done all.
angels yes your own nightie and dh can be with you as much as you like.I cant wait untill Monday for you,i know you've found it hard and been so worried GOOD LUCK xx
Baby D has put on nearly 4oz weyhey im so pleased, she is now having 90ml feeds which is great,am feeling more confident about the meds now too.
Debka and the other naughty lady doing too much, be carefull,i know i had a section but have not rested cos of D being in hospital and then doing too much, was in town Sunday.I now have an infection in scar and am quite down in the dumps too,so be warned from mama ledkr.
Pil better behave or thats that i will lose the plot and blame my hormones and call them twunts.
Look out for me from Friday i will be ensconced in my bedroom with dd's and my freeview(remember)my laptop some wine and rolos or a whisper gold.Telling all my mn friends about them,i am also genuinely interested to see if they help at all and intend to do sod all so it becomes apparent to dh how lazy they are Grin
