Been taking a weekly photo from 15 weeks Annie, still the same :(

Firawla · 15/03/2011 18:50

oh I think I might take a bump picture actually, didn't think of it but am really big so maybe should take a few like now and then again @ the end, just to look back on. I remember I took for my 1st, cant remember if i did any or not for ds2!

Klou and other bumpless people are you quite tall maybe that's why? or strong stomach muscles!

Ekka · 15/03/2011 19:03

MrsStevo Just noticed your post about buggies - if you do consider the Zoom, we have one going spare. It is from when it was sold under the ABC Design logo, but exactly the same design. We have both seats and one carrycot plus the raincover and the change bag, but you'd obviously need to get another carrycot and possibly the carseats and adaptors if you want them. Obviously if you aren't interested thats fine, but if you are I'd be happy to sell them on second hand? NB I'm waiting till after my second scan just to be certain there are no surprises in store for us!

Whoever mentioned nursing chairs - I have one but tbh I found they aren't actually great for feeding in once baby is more than a couple of months. However, v comfy to sit in, but probably rather overpriced just as a chair!!!

I am envious of all you people who are feeling movements, I have a bump but have only felt a couple of movements. I'm getting a little nervous really and keen to have our second scan to check alls ok in there. I heard the heartbeat at my mw appt but that was 2 weeks ago, so I'm getting stressed again... Funnily enough I'm more stressed this time round than I've been either of the other two times....

Yukana · 15/03/2011 21:59

Annie I'll take a photo once my maternity clothes arrive. :) I'm actually pretty big, and feel incredibly heavy!

Scan on the 21st. Oh hurry up already!

RugbyWidow7 · 16/03/2011 08:37

Hersetta huge congrats on your new discovery! What a shock that must have been! Bet your DH is please Wink

Love the list Klou - I'm on a researching mission now to put together something similar. Off to look at 'travel systems' (still can't get used to that phrase) this afternoon. Still holding out hoping and praying that the folks my jump in and offer to pay for it, as I've set my aspirations mighty high! Oops. Confused

Also think my doppler is at the postoffice so excited to pick that up today.

Will report back!

KLou111 · 16/03/2011 10:26

I'm 5'8" Firawla, but used to do a lot of athletics too, and it's also my first, so that may be why no bump or a lot of weight gain yet (5lbs, 19 weeks tomorrow).

My pics are on my profile page of my non-bump!! (My belly has had that little bump since about 8 weeks, very odd!)

Got my blood results back today. 1 in 439 for Downs which they've said is low, but I actually think it's high. Told my mum and she said cut of for high risk is 1 in 250, but they'll check baby at scan next week anyway. What the hell is wrong with me, I just keep panicking!!

KLou111 · 16/03/2011 10:26

Ekka I'd get a doppler if you're stressing, have the Angel Care one, £25 new off ebay, highly recommend it :)

Rehune · 16/03/2011 11:17

Thanks everyone for the travel advice. Leaning towards not risking it at all. Also it will be a big expense just before the baba so maybe I will get them a nicer wedding present and leave it at that!

Congrats Hersetta glad that everything is ok with the baby and nice to have a double surprise

Am in the same situ as you Firwala. Considering whether to move house to somewhere bigger and then not have to move again however many come along after that!

Am far behind you ladies in looking at or thinking about baby equipment. Was a bit shocked about some of the prices and was telling my dad who obviously imagined that DH and I were planning to put the baby to sleep in a cardbox box in a kitchen cabinet and push it around in a trolley of some sort made up of bits of papier mache and leftovers so in his first grandchild panic offered to buy all the baby stuff. I did think about it for about a nano second before saying yes. Grin

SelinaDoula · 16/03/2011 11:24

Went to see a chiropractor yesterday (my DD was persistant posterior and face presentation) and hoping to help this one into a better position.
He found I had one leg 1cm shorter than the other (as pelvis twisted).
He did some manipulations which I was quite shocked by, they are very physical (I imagined some sort of massage lol) but he seemed to think it had helped.
Feeling a bit strange today though (sick and light headed) but noyt sure its related.
I ran my monthly homebirth group last night, which was nice, to see lots of bumps together and hear peoples experiences.
I have my second scan on friday and i dont think my partner is coming so it might just be me and DD, she's desperate to find out the sex!
Glad you are all doing well. I am collecting up bits and bobs of equipment. I might try to do without a pram and just use slings and a car seat for now, got no storage at all!

LadyGoneGaga · 16/03/2011 12:27

Hi Selina - hope the chiropractor helps. Are you going to a special one with experience in antenatal treatment for birthing? DS was Occiput transverse and asynclitic which meant he got stuck after 2 hours pushing and I was transferred into hospital from my lovely birth pool at home where I had a ventouse delivery (eventually)! Do you think a chiropractor might help me? Keen to get my home birth this time round as coped with labour fine until he got stuck!

Klou you look amazing! Make the most of it...you will pop eventually. but I bet you just have a lovely neat bump. Mine is huge and actually makes it quite hard to do stuff already (bikini lines are a challenge!) - will try and put some pictures on at some point.

littlemissw · 16/03/2011 12:44

That is really interesting about the possible connection between back to back birth & one leg being shorter than the other SelinaDoula. My legs are and both my previous two have been back to back (as was this one at my last scan). After DD2 the midwife did say that it may just be the shape of my pelvis that causes my babies to be back to back, but this makes perfect sense. Best get myself off to the chiro if it could mean that I may have a shorter and less painful labour & birth.

What fantastic news Hersetta! I can imagine that you must still be in shock after being told the opposite! I'm still getting used to the idea that I'll be having a little boy too and I've known for a few weeks now.

Re cloth nappies KLou, I bought a Bambino Mio Birth to Potty pack with my first & definitely won't if I had my time again. Although they are great nappies, dry super quick and so easy to use, I found that they did not suit all the time. They were particularly bad at containing explosive newborn poo and there is no way you could use them for a heavy wetter without loads of extra padding (which kind of defeats the object as they are supposed to be slim fitting nappies). I would recommend trying a few different kinds & getting a selection. It would be well worth your while getting in touch with your local lollipop advisor who would be able to show & explain all the different types to you. This webstie is also worth having a read through to familiarize yourself with the different types and I can second the nappy lady website. Personally, I really liked using Diddy Diapers for newborns and found wraps with a 'cuff' on the leg, such as the Bambino Mio and Nature babies ones best. Tots Bots & Motherease tended to leak at the legs with mine. I did not really like applix (velcro) nappies much as I always felt I got a better fit with a nappy nippa. (DH didn't like these though as too fiddly). I also liked Tots Bots Bamboozles (so soft) and would highly rate Bumgenius, Fuzzy buns & for a slim fit, Swaddlebees. Pocket nappies are great for night time as you can stuff them as much as you need to.

I'm really liking the look of the Charlie Banana ones this time & think I'll be getting a few to add to my shamelessly huge collection of cloth nappies. Its been a couple of years since my DD's have been in nappies, so I'm sure there will be some fantastic new brands that I am yet to discover. Anyway, hope I've not confused you too much rambling on. The main advise I would offer though is definitely go for a selection of different kinds rather than a birth to potty pack & don't be scared to buy second hand - that's the whole point of cloth nappies. Oh and be warned .... Its addictive! :)

littlemissw · 16/03/2011 12:54

And I forgot to mention, skip the baby bath ... I found an ergonomic bath support, such as this one invaluable as it made me feel much more confident bathing my newborn without feeling like she may slip out of my hands and drown!

Huge bump here too, but I'm pretty sure its only the muffin top that has moved upwards! Grin

Good luck to those of you with your impending 20 week scans. I can't believe we're halfway! Yay!

SelinaDoula · 16/03/2011 13:05

LadyGoneGaGa- The one I am seeing is not a specialist in pregnancy but he does have experience. I recommend to any of my clients that have had previous positioning issues to go to one to rule out any issues, especially if you have had any childhood accidents, car crashes etc
Its worth giving it a go!
As a Doula I use lots of the Spinning babies techniques.
www.spinningbabies.com/
and
[[http://www.spinningbabies.com/baby-positions/all-positions/asynclitism]
In pregnancy you could get your partner to do Rebozo with you and inversions and learn some of the labour techniques.

Littlemissw
There are some interesting stories on this website-

Its not the practitioner I used (I'm in Liverpool) but I do think it might help.

Anu3 · 16/03/2011 14:47

Wow you lot have been chatty!! Took me a while to read all your posts! Im back from 4 days in hell :( Finally my cold, runny nose and headache have gone away and i feel less grumpy and miserable today!

I complete 20 weeks on Friday and have been feeling the baby move a lot the past 1 week - sometimes i feel it kick my bladder - well atleast i assume thats what its doing cause i have this urge to run to the loo then :) DH is really jelous that i can feel the baby and he cant yet!! lovin it Grin

My anomaly Scan is on the 29th - i cant wait..hurry up!!

One of things im really nervous about post birth is massaging and bathing the baby - How do you do that?? It feels scary! When do you actually start bathing the baby? I suppose right away. Should i get a bathing tub? Any suggestions ladies?

Anu3 · 16/03/2011 14:52

Klou OMG!!! You look amazing!!! Just saw ur pics - I was like that until week 15 and then the last 4 weeks have a melon sized tummy!!! Ill create a profile and put some pics up of my bump!!

By the way was wondering are any of you ladies from/ around North London? I would love to catch up and form a Mummy club! :)

CappuccinoCarrie · 16/03/2011 14:57

Not time to catch up properly. We're about to use our Bumgenius nappies for our third child and they're still in great condition. THey're pocket nappies so really easy for inept DHs Grin and dry really quickly. Saw them recommended on here and recommend them to anyone who asks, they're great!!

Rehune · 16/03/2011 15:11

Anu3 I feel you! I was having a bit of 'I'm scared' moment thinking about changing a diaper (cloth or disposable). I dont know how!

Anu3 · 16/03/2011 15:25

Rehune Im glad (in a good way!)that im not the only one then! I was a bit embarassed to put that on the chat but I really do wonder how Im going to be able to cope with these things!

My mum says to me its natural and things come to all mums naturally but i sometimes feel ill be bad at it :( Thankfully I have my mum coming to help me the first couple fo months - But then even she hasnt changed a baby since i was born 31 years back!!!! yikesss

littlemisslozza · 16/03/2011 15:30

Woo hoo, I'm finally back online!!

KLou I have a Jane Slalom pro (as it was called 4 years ago but looks pretty much the same) and I love it. Fantastic pushchair, much easier to push than a buggy (we have one which is only every used on holiday to free up boot space in the car) and if you put the back down flat you can get two little ones sitting (little one between the older one's legs)which is very handy if the eldest gets tired, once baby is 9 months old or so. Someone else told me that and it has been a very useful tip!

My youngest has chickenpox at the moment so I am exhausted, he has hardly slept at night. Marginally better last night and only a few new spots today so hoping he is over the worst.

My bump popped out last week although I'm still in 'post-natal' jeans (as I like to call my 'fat' jeans....!) and normal tops that aren't too clingy. We're not finding out the gender, the other two have been surprises and we like it that way.

wishwales · 16/03/2011 15:33

I had quite a scare yesterday! In the morning I had abdominal pain and bright red blood on the tissue - four times in a row! DH took me quickly to the hospital where they kept me until this afternoon.

Bleeding has stopped but still have some brown discharge. Baby is doing great - I had a scan and at least four listens to the heartbeat. Just so you ladies know, blood sometimes just happens without it being the end of the world...They still don't have a reason for it!

Happy to be home even if I am ordered to bed to rest for a week.

Looking forward to catching up on here more.

Rehune · 16/03/2011 16:07

wishwales Glad you are ok. I know people tell you that it can happen sometimes but I can imagine how scared you would have been. I have to admit that I do keep breathing a sigh of relief every time I go to the loo and there isnt any there!

Anu3 My mum is coming over from Sri Lanka a month before I am due and staying for a month after (maybe more if it was up to me!) and it's such a relief cos there is so much I just dont have a clue about!

Firawla · 16/03/2011 16:08

Anu i'm from north london, whereabouts are you? im in holloway so if you are anywhere nearby here i can show you were the best and friendliest baby groups are Grin

klou wow your looking really good, your bump is so small but like people said you will prob get a nice small neat bump, and probably not put loads of weight on? so could be a good thing

im not feeling much in the way of movements, i felt like i felt more before, which is making me a bit Confused maybe i should get a doppler myself. never had it with my other 2 but feeling more paranoid with this one i suppose cos i know of more people who have lost babies and never really thought much about that before.. but then what i was feeling before was not v strong movement so maybe it was not really baby movement?? but i really thought it was! oh well will see

Bryher · 16/03/2011 16:18

Annie 456 I keep alternating between panicking, being a bit excited, not even feeling pregnant any more... It's all very baffling, but I suspect quite normal for first timers! I am actually starting to get my head round the idea that there'll be a baby at the end of this now, for ages it just didn't seem real at all.

Hersetta congratulations - but what a shock they got it wrong! I def want to find out at 20 week scan, but am a bit afraid that they will get it wrong and I will be really confused when I actually give birth!!

Firawla Sounds stressful, I hope you can find somewhere nice soon that you can afford.

Star I sometimes feel like I'm not pregnant at all, I think it's because all day sickness is finally lifting, but I can't feel any movement and TBH it just looks like I am putting on weight! I console myself with the thought that in a few months I'll be desperate for it to stop kicking...

Selina chiropractor sounds a bit evil, hope it helps!

KLou sorry to hear the Down's risk is stressing you out, but it's still far far more likely not Down's. I hope you can find out more at the scan and they can allay your fears a bit! So far pregnancy seems to be all about panicking

littlemissw I'm sure I'm being dumb, but how does the bath support work? Do you just use it a normal size bath?

Anu Glad you're feeling a bit better! Am so jealous you can feel the baby move, I wish I could feel mine, occasionally I think I have but reckon it's prob gas... I share your concerns re bath time! and Rehune I've never changed a nappy in my life so nervous of that too!

wishwales Sorry to hear about your scare but glad you have been checked out and all is well, must have been a relief to see the scan. Have a nice relaxing week

wishwales · 16/03/2011 16:20

firawla I am 19+5 and felt a big kick about 2 weeks ago and since then, nothing...I had a scan yesterday and baby is doing great! Dr said it is common to have no recognizable movement until about 22 weeks. I have also heard that you feel it the most when in the bath.
