Wine Grin most excellent.

Move along people, nothing to see here...no developments at all really. Got some sleep though, which is a good thing. Baby now breakdancing. BHs not any stronger or more regular. Is just a bug that my body has reacted to a bit weirdly due to diffage I think.

Any news from them there due date girls?

CluckyKate · 04/02/2011 16:51

Nope Wine Wine Wine .....someone pass me another one [hic]

ginhag · 04/02/2011 16:58

Pint of pernod Kate? Tia maria and lucozade?

Ivegotmrbitey · 04/02/2011 17:09

Gorgeous muser! Do you know, I hadn't really thought about it at all until that phone call, I thought eternity rings were for diamond anniversaries. I wouldn't say no to a present though.

What would be a gift is if, in the event of me requiring stitches, the FDH manages to resist saying with a leer "put an extra one in for me doc!". He has failed to resist making this 'joke' to each and everyone of my freshly laid friends. Not one has laughed yet!

Three hours until the rugby, my first sober six nations! There had better be half time chips and curry sauce!

CluckyKate · 04/02/2011 17:12

Whatever it takes....thanks Gin

Glad you managed to get some kip. The symptoms are very much like what I have been having and are pointing to a queue-jump methinks

milanomum · 04/02/2011 17:30

I luffs those rings. There's a fairly popular and expensive jewellery brand here which has just brought out a rather tasteful valentine's ring

I wouldn't advise on a necklace by the way - baby just grabs and breaks it. I haven't worn one for 2 years. Unless it's a sparkler like Alps for speshul occasions.

A couple of friends of mine got rings after giving birth. I'd never even heard of the tradition. DH wasn't very pleased. I'd rather he just pass the hoover round a bit and cook something when baby arrives.

bitey Rugby! Can't wait! Tomorrow it's Ireland against Italy. That'll be a close match

CluckyKate · 04/02/2011 20:01

Oooh, hunky men in shorts , indian takeaway ....is a good night to be stuck in front of the telly, non?

Backinthebox · 04/02/2011 21:34

We're watching erratic skiing blokes crashing into each othe at high speed on Eurosport. 'Tis a bit like watching MrCluck and his mates on holiday!

HighPriestessBoo · 05/02/2011 00:20

Yes, I was proud indeed Rocket :) (see last thread).

I'm just posting randomly to mark my place really :o

rocketleaf · 05/02/2011 08:06

boxer TB and his mates had a go at boardercross yesterday. Don't think it went that well tho as he said 'it wasn't for him' ei hes not a good enough boarder. Said he was just going to stick to the smaller jumps. Think impending fatherhood might actually be instilling some sort of resonsibility! Sounds like he was getting a bit gooey over mini skiers/boarders too :o

I went out last night and ran the bump touching gauntlet for the first time. Wasn't too bad as it was all from mates but it's funny how the more drunk people are the more they want to touch it, specially the guys who alreadyhgave kids It seems. Was a fun night but I came home when they started on the jaggerbombs Hmm:o

CluckyKate · 05/02/2011 09:59

Sounds like a good night out PocketRocket - shame you missed out on the Jagerbombs.

Am off-roading with Boxer today.....let's see if we can bounce this baby out!!!

Medee · 05/02/2011 10:47

get bouncing!

owlbooty · 05/02/2011 10:57

Morning PESHlets :)

Good luck with the off-roading, Clucky , that's gotta work, surely.

I have a question for the wise (and currently wider than I am). My jeans don't fit. Well, they do, but they are damn uncomfortable. If I keep wearing leggings to work people will get suspicious and I reckon I can hide this for some weeks to come.

Do maternity under-bump type jeans generally fit when you are still relatively bump-free? Or do they just fall down? I did try and find some to try on yesterday but nobody seems to sell them. And if they might fit, does anyone have any recommendations?

owlbooty · 05/02/2011 10:58

Basically I was thinking maybe something like this

Muser · 05/02/2011 11:00

Are they too tight round the middle booty? What you can do is use a hairband to loop round the button and through the buttonhole, to keep them together. Then get some of these to cover the top to disguise the fact your jeans aren't doing up: bump bands.

The bump bands just look like you've got a vest on underneath if they show at all. And you get some more wear out of your jeans. You can also buy proper extenders for the buttons, but a hair band works.

I don't think any maternity jeans stay up, stupid things.

owlbooty · 05/02/2011 11:03

Oooh. That's a good idea - I shall go and experiment with a hairband Grin Do you find the zip ends up at half-mast though?

LadyGoneGaga · 05/02/2011 11:04

You can get early term jeans - Mothercare do some. But also Topshop do some under the bump jeans which have a little elastic bit inside with buttons so you can tighten them up. I also wear them with a belt. To be quite honest they are doing my head in as they fall down all the time and forever hitching them up. They also did this when was very heavily pregnant. I may buy some over the bump jeans for this reason despite avoiding them for the whole of the last pregnancy.

If you are lacking much bump at all as yet could get some cheap jeans/trousers in a bigger size. I'm normally a 10/12 and was ok in size 14 trousers until recently. These will also be useful after the birth when you would rather stick pins in your eyes than put maternity clothes on but none of your old clothes fit yet, mysteriously.

Or jeggings are another option?

Hope the bouncing works, Cluckster. How is Cho doing today? Any more twinges from Gin?

LadyGoneGaga · 05/02/2011 11:06

Or also the hairband trick as per Musde suggestion. Zip will be at half mast but as long as worn with a long top will be fine. My arse has also grown too fat for such manouvres.

Medee · 05/02/2011 11:14

go for the jeans with side elastic rather than over-bump. My over-bump ones took ages to fit properly, though were one of the first things I bought. Next has a good range of different fittings you could try.

owlbooty · 05/02/2011 11:17

I am normally a 14(ish) but 14 no longer fits. 16 is massively gappy around the back for some insane reason. There is a Mothercare around here, I might go and slyly try on all their stock (then try to find it on ebay second hand).

The bump bands look like the skirts I used to wear when I was a young 'un, with my big DMs :)

I am still expecting to wake up one marvellous day and find I actually look pregnant as opposed to plumptious.

HighPriestessBoo · 05/02/2011 11:26

Oh I used to rock the short skirt and DM look too. With a Wonderstuff T-shirt to complete the look. As did Saladeleaf on occasion (sans Wonderstuff Tee - think she favoured Bleach).

Ivegotmrbitey · 05/02/2011 11:36

I bought some heavy cotton trousers in the mammas and papas sale boots they have elastic panels at the hips and fit under the bump. As I haven't expanded into maternity clothes but regular clothes are too tight I do need to wear a belt with them but am really pleased with their stayupability.

I have just grown out of the hairband trick, worked well until about wednesday but the overall increase in my middle seems to push them downwards. The vests in mammas and papas are good too, realy long so you can cover all kinds waist ban shenanigans!

I have decided attack is the best form of defence in bump concealment(still waiting for the job inteview!) and have been wearing hoodies all week with great big pockets across the middle. Everyone looks like a differ in them so am camouflaged well so far!

I know what you mean about the plumptious bit too, but the fact that clothes a size up are too big shows that your expansion is all baybee related. That is my story and I am sticking to it Smile

Ivegotmrbitey · 05/02/2011 11:38

rousers are still there, ignore the fat they are called chino! They look lovely on honest! link

Ivegotmrbitey · 05/02/2011 11:39

fact, not fat! Blush

rocketleaf · 05/02/2011 11:39

booty I am still rocking the hair band tactic at 23 weeks but on a pair of jeans that I had bought a size too big ages ago and now fit me everywhere else. Crucially they have stretch in them which adds to the comfort (New Look do good stretch jeans at v reasonable prices) Shop around a bit as some places come up smaller on the sizes. Wrack your brains for places you tried on a lovely pair of size 14 that were just a leetel bit too tight and hopefully their 16 will be ok. I also have the too big waist band problem. Do you have a sewing machine or know someone who has? You can take out a dart from the back of the WB next to the belt loop that is virtually invisible. This makes em fit a treat.

Also instead of bump bands you could get some of the Topshop rib vests (2 for £9) they are really long anyway and the maternity version they do is just a bit dropped at the front. Will stand you in good stead in summer and still be wearable after laying and you can just stick em on under normal tops. V unobtrusive this time of year as peeps will just think you ar layering up. Thats my Goketleaf 2 pennies worth.
