Medee · 14/02/2011 22:13

I agree, Kate. Plus she looked fabulous in her bikini even in labour!

Scorpette · 14/02/2011 22:21

Not AIBU at all, Cass :)

Y'know, even the screamy births make me realise that it's not this horrendous, terrifying thing that'll be intolerable agony that I'd kinda built it up to be in my mind Blush

Scorpette · 14/02/2011 22:25

MedeecinesSansFrontieres, you are right about the winning combo :) Gawd, I wish a water/hippo birth could also guarantee me the body of a lithe 20-summat in a string bikini...

rocketleaf · 14/02/2011 22:28

My worry is that I am going to get so fixated on a water birth that if I can't get in the pool for any reason I am going to panic. I REALLY don't like the look of the little rooms you have to give birth in otherwise. Spose theres no point stressing about it now tho.

Scorpette · 14/02/2011 22:31

I feel the same, Rocket. I dunno if at times I'm planning too much, IYKWIM.

HighPriestessBoo · 14/02/2011 23:28

Just watched it on iplayer. I'm still crying.

I liked the blonde MW - she was good and calm. And I like that birth still amazes and astounds her - that she still is thrilled with the wonder of it all.

When I went to pregnancy yoga she got us to prepare a positive phrase for the transition phase - she said when you start yelling 'I can't do it', you know that's the time to start saying it. I never got to use mine though cos of getting whisked of to theatre and all that- so I'll save it for next time :o

Very excited about Musers Pluggage situation. Anyone fancy a Brew?

Muser · 14/02/2011 23:57

You better get busy Clucky. My waters are leaking all over the shop. Been checked over, cervix is still tightly closed but I'm leaking like a London water pipe. I have 48 hours to get going naturally. Tick tock...

Muser · 14/02/2011 23:59

Btw, if you know me on Facebook or elsewhere, please keep schtum for now. Don't want a million people asking for updates!

Scorpette · 15/02/2011 01:58

Ooooh, bloody hell, I've just come on here cos can't sleep and am bored - now I won't sleep at all! When I do get to sleep, will be sending you, Bob and TB all the love and luck in the world in case things get exciting in the small hours. Really hope you're the first of we PESH to get a water birth

PS V thoughtful of Bob to avoid being a Valentine's baby; that would be a bit annoying.

Orchid12 · 15/02/2011 07:42

Woohoo Muse!!! You go for it Smile (sorry Cluckster- sending you lovely labour vibes too).

Huge congrats to Gin too - am v. pleased ginsterboy is here happy and safe.

I didn't see OBEM as was in bed again! I was going to ask you guys actually, do any of you in the second trimester still feel extremely tired? I don't seem to have moved past the first trimester exhaustion. My mum thinks it's my iron levels, but when I last had them checked I got a very good score back, so I doubt it is that. I know I didn't feel like this with mini O at this stage. I am also still beinig sick which I find odd at 20 weeks. My friend at work has a theory that some women get worse symptoms with each subsequent pregnancy, and I'm wondering if there is any truth in it?

Anyhoo, not sure I have much to report, apart from I can now feel squidge jiggling around every day! I have another anterior placenta, but am feeling regular movements so it doesn't seem to be dulling things too much...

CurlyCasper · 15/02/2011 07:43

oh mooooooooooose! hope you got going overnight and have lovely Bob in your arms already. If not, best of luck for the water sneeze. Thinking of you all xxx

CluckyKate · 15/02/2011 07:46

Blimey Muse how exciting for you Grin

What news here, you ask??? Well, all this talk of plugs has got mine shifting.

The race is on!!!

Orchid12 · 15/02/2011 07:48

Oh yeah, BTW, I also did the 'I can't do this' thing at transition. I vowed I wouldn't, but true to the stereotype, I did Smile. The MW's laughed (in a nice way) and denied my wishes to be whisked to the hospital and be given a c-section Blush. Once I'd had a little sob and felt sorry for myself for 5 mins, I HTFU and got on with it, but I think it's a fairly normal part of the process! My chief MW had told me beforehand they looked out for that stage and would know pretty much without examining me that I was ready to go if, and when, I said stuff like that (I had asked for minimal examinations and they were trying their best to honour that - I only had two examinations the whole labour).

Orchid12 · 15/02/2011 07:49

Kate - yipppeee! Looks like it's going to be an exciting day in here

Gets a Brew and a Biscuit and pulls up a comfy chair....

CurlyCasper · 15/02/2011 07:52

i fear my own baby will be neglected while I observe the Pesh laying race! Go Kate and Muser!

Backinthebox · 15/02/2011 08:10

Well, Cluck and I did plan another busy day. You still doing the car thing? I'll see you in a bit unless you text me otherwise. And good luck Muse too. A very exciting day!

For the transition thing I didn't do any kind of screamy at all. After an emcs with TT I spent the most part of LG's birth excitedly thinking 'he's actually coming out!' it meant no panic or wailing at all. I was just really excited by the whole thing and would do it all again at the drop of a hat. I've never once thought I couldn't do it enough to lose it. Have faith that the baby will come out one way or another and focus on seeing them for the first time. It's really not that bad - it sounds really judge-pants of me to say it, but I don't get why some of this women get as screechy as they do. I've had 2 completely unexpected and unusual labours and births (one VERY stuck baby and 42 hr labour, one shot out in the corner of the bedroom, quite by surprise!) and never got fazed. The trick is to be prepared mentally to get the baby out however it needs to come out. Try not to b so fixated on only one kind of birth to the exclusion of all other ways, and provided you get a lovely baby at the end you won't be disappointed at all!

Orchid get. Thee on the Spatone, Missus. Works wonders for iron and tiredness.

MsFC · 15/02/2011 08:21

Ooh ooh, muse and clucky, double bubble! Wishing you speedy vibes lovely PESHes xx

PollyPoo · 15/02/2011 08:25

Oh how exciting, a baby laying race! Good luck Muse and Clucky, here is to gentle sneezes and champers on ice. x

Ariesgirl · 15/02/2011 08:28

Good luck, you two xxx

LadyGoneGaga · 15/02/2011 08:39

Easy, squeezy, sneezy labour vibes for Cluck and Muse - is this the most birfs ever on one fred?

Orchid I am same as you, 17 weeks and mostly falling asleep putting MiniG to bed every night i.e 8:30. Last time i had energy at this point. My iron levels fine too. Think is because looking after toddler plus work.

And I did the "I can't do it" wailing at transition too despite my Hippo birthing stuff. Is easier once you start pushing but is a totally normal reaction. Very emotional at that point. But all worth it in the end Grin

I've got to be offsite with a client today - Grr. Will take Kindle for a surreptitious look to see how everyone is doing at some point!!!!

OP posts:
Medee · 15/02/2011 08:45

OMG Muse! will of course keep schtum elsewhere!

Scorpette · 15/02/2011 08:49

Bleeeurgh, I really didn't sleep - too excited Grin And now Kate's finally got in on the action, there's no hope for me! SQUEEEEEEEEE! Wine for all!

Keep going ladies, just sneeze them out like a delicate Victorian heroine :)

BTW am watching some breakfast tv crap about a 'plus-size' model comp: they are size 12-14, FFS! Angry

Medee · 15/02/2011 09:10

Boo if you don?t mind my asking, what was your positive phrase for transition?

Ooh, missed Kate?s developing plug news too, hurrah!

I?m guessing subsequent pregnancies can be harder just because of the previous children, rather than anything inherently more difficult in the pregnancy itself. I recall in first trimester thinking to myself how hard this would be with a child already.

laurielou · 15/02/2011 09:20

Hells teeth, its all go!

Firstly, Aries so sorry for delay in coming back to you. my reflexology was about £250 for 6 sessions. The idea was they straightened me out generally in those 6 weeks, focussing a little on all things baybee making. Then I signed up for another 6 weeks to really concentrate on the fetility shiz. I didn't need the second 6 weeks Grin

If nothing else it was really relaxing & nice to be pampered, so I'd definitely recommend it. Good luck!

Right, Muse I have to say I dreamt last night that I logged on here & someone had posted that you weren't going to be around much as currently in labour & they'd keep us posted. I rushed on here this morning to give you my premonition & lo! you are mucus-plug-a-losing & water-leaking. Its going to happen soon.

Kate Finally! Thanks be to God for some movement in your area (so to speak). I'm so excited. Again.

On more mundane matters my midwife appointment was fine, blood pressure perfect. So I was just generally being a clumsy cow yesterday morning. Ho hum. Heard heartbeat again, all strong & good. Head down - yikes! - but still lots of room to spin around yet.

I missed first 10 mins of OBEM (some of us did make it to yoga Grin) but I thought all 3 wimminz were ace. They all seemed quite realistic & fairly normal (I know all the other births were real but they seem to pick the more TV worthy real ones, if that makes any sense). I too was keen to see hippo birthing - am not too sure anymore. I'll definitely do some version, but think it may be my own. I had to laugh at the mum not giving in to drugs. At first I thought she seemed a cow, but I know my mum would be exactly the same. Not quite the same scenario, but I've had conversations with my mum not to let me eat cake / chocolate as I'm dieting. No matter what I say, stay strong for me, don't let me give in. Then I start whining that I want cake. Mum is strong. Then we argue. So she shouts "Go on then!" So I do, just to spite her Hmm. Then I shout at her why did she let me & not go with my original instructions. I see no reason why this would not apply to the childbirth mallarkey.

Mr Loz would just be useless at hippobirthing. He doesn't really go with all things woo & just raises his eyes in a "here's my crazy lady" kind of way when I mention it.

Oh, my birth is going to be entertaining, isnt it?

Now, onto more pressing matters. Updates of waters & mucus pliz.

Ariesgirl · 15/02/2011 09:25

Awwight Lozza. And can I ask, was she a fertility expert reflexologist? Or just a normal one?
