Morning all, no need for OBEM round here, I had to pop into the MLU last night to pick up my MATB1 form, and there was a woman in labour. It's very disconcerting standing outside a delivery room listening to a complete stranger in pain. I wonder how many women I'll scare the crap out of when I'm in there and they have their MW appointments in the room next door!

I got woken up by stabbing pains in the middle of the night. Not sure what she'd been up to in there, either stretching her long body out as much as possible or just kicking one of my internal organs. But I had to walk around the house for ages until I nudged her back into a reasonable position. And other DD had meantime moved over to take up my side of the bed. I ended up lying between my two daughters, one elbowing me in the back from outside, and one kneeing me in the stomach from the inside. Ahh bless (was not the phrase running through my mind at 3am).

Clarkiee · 24/02/2011 11:04

Woo hoo! Don't want to speak to soon but just spoken to Estate Agent and he has said that the people that we want to buy off are willing to rent whilst they wait for the house that they want (which is causing the hold up). He also said that that could mean that we'd be able to move in four weeks!! Sounds a bit to good to be true but all my fingers are crossed!

lisascat must be strange hearing someone else in pain. Last time we went for a scan with a consultant a woman came out of his room crying and her mother was saying 'we know the baby has the condition, but she has been growing' the girl was in floods of tears. Felt awful and just wanted to hug her (even though I had no idea what the problem was).
Hope tonights sleep is a bit better.

neweeps glad move went well- think we'll go down the hiring people route- so much less stressful. I am definately see 28 weeks as the next milestone!

Off to Argos to buy some moving boxes Grin unless anyone else knows where you can get them cheaper? Grin

Clarkiee · 24/02/2011 11:04

p.s. thanks for advice moomin

takethatlady · 24/02/2011 11:22

clarkiee it's always worth a beg at your local supermarket, if you are happy to stoop as low as me :) Congrats on the potential move - hope it comes off asap! And glad it's all worked out for you too neenewps. Bank still being arses over here ... we're down to 'yes, yes, the mortgage you need is definitely going to be available, and though we said it would be available in February it isn't, so really it could be any time this year. Ring back every couple of months and hopefully we'll have some good news for you'. Every couple of months! Don't they realise I'm on a bit of a deadline here!!!

Sorry for all the rude people crumbletastic. Five weeks ago (no chance of it now, with bump exploding and weight gain suddenly occurring at exponential rate) I went for dinner with old colleagues. After one said I didn't look pregnant, just fat (and thought it was a compliment), another yelled out across the whole table (and involved about ten other people) 'Are you definitely sure you're pregnant? Have you had a scan? And did you get pictures?' Others then proceeded to express worry for me that I didn't look massively pregnant (I was 18 weeks) and to ask me to stand up and show them my bump so they could inspect it.

Not quite sure what the 'right' bump shape/size and the 'right' weight is meant to be at each stage, or why everybody seems to think they know what it is. It seems none of us are the right size or weight for our pregnancies, judging by other people's comments!

neenewps · 24/02/2011 11:58

Thanks ladies..

clarkie we got all of our boxes for moving from the people that moved us. And we got to keep them so they are all flat packed now, ready for the next time Hmm Might be worth checking out removal companies and what they offer as part of their service.

I have my washing on the line :) maybe spring really is here.... !

8rubberduckies · 24/02/2011 12:21

Clarkiee it's all sounding good on the house-moving front. Whenever we move we always get our boxes on Freecycle, there are always folk offering them, or you could put a "wanted" on there. Much cheaper than Argos as free! Grin.

Lisascat when I went on the tour of local hospital delivery suite when pg with ds there was a woman in one of the rooms screaming "Somebody PLEASE just help me, I want to die" with such a bloodcurdling scream that I literally felt my tummy fill with dread... one of the other women on the tour, quite a young, nervous-looking girl with her Mum, burst into tears Sad. Not good timing.

Neenewps good to hear from you again, glad the move went well... let the nesting begin! Smile

I am also classed as "massive" by most people for 24 weeks... even my chiropractor looked shocked when I told her how many weeks I was Angry. When I was pg with ds we went out for a meal the weekend I was due, and a gaggle of tipsy women in the restaurant were openly laughing at me waddling back from the loo, exclaiming "Christ, she must be having TRIPLETS!!!" and the like. I was really bloody angry, but all I could do was burst into tears Blush.

moomin156 · 24/02/2011 12:24

neenewps also have washing line out awaiting the washing. I love the smell of line dried washing.....lets hope spring is finally here, lots of bulbs just coming out, daffodils growing in my pots......herbs seem to be revitalising. My favourite time of year :)

moomin156 · 24/02/2011 12:29

i have to say that im not getting any comments about my bump really......there are 3 of us at work who are all due within 10days of each other and we are all completely different size and shape. I have to say that mine is all bump.....so looks the biggest but dont seem to have put weight on anywhere else ( i have but not that anyone seems to notice unless they are being polite). One of the ladies doesnt appear to have any bump but has grwon bigger all over and the other has a bump but has spread all around. So it just shows we are all different and there is no right or wrong size.
My mom says mine is lovely but then shes biased LOL

jasmine51 · 24/02/2011 12:44

moomin Lol about your 'spring is in the air' comments...you sound so chilled! Quite a contrast to the stressful time you have been having. Just imagining you dressed in cheesecloth skipping through the crocusses!
I havent let the chickens out today by the way, they can bloomin well stay in the yard and think about how they behaved yesterday!

I've just really scared myself reading the 'discussion of the day' about epidurals. I'm up for fighting MWs now!

Off upstairs to play with my sheepskin buggy liner now...my latest ebay delivery.

8rubberduckies · 24/02/2011 12:47

Oooooh I really want a sheepskin buggy liner... how much did you manage to get yours for jasmine?

moomin156 · 24/02/2011 13:05

Im sure come next week and back at work i will be back to my stressed and tearful self......i love being a lady of leisure. Finishing at 7 months is appealing more and more........i only intend to go back for the 3 months to get my mat pay and if i can for 2 days per week, so with all the annual leave i have accrued i dont expect it will really matter how much i have off before hand. if i get 2 days then mom said she will have bean for that short period......Grin

LisasCat · 24/02/2011 13:06

8rd that just made me laugh so much, your story of what that woman said in the delivery room. Would it make me a really bad person if, even if I'm having quite a good labour, I screamed that out loud when I heard other expectant mums outside my door just for a laugh?

I'm going to hell aren't I?!?

jasmine51 · 24/02/2011 13:13

Lisa behave! Would be funny though to scream something really random 'but I'm allergic to llamas'

8 got it off ebay £12 in the sheepskin bugg liner section. They were going for £25 in the sheepskin pram liner section for some reason

8rubberduckies · 24/02/2011 13:45

Thanks for the tip Jasmine. Lisa, you are cruel but I like it Grin. Hell would welcome you with open arms.

PS I have decided I am going to use some annual leave and get signed off for a couple of weeks by the doc before my planned finish date, so I am thinking of finishing end of April rather than the end of May now. Work seems a lot more doable now I have made that decision. I am going to tell my boss this afternoon so they can start recruiting my cover; he is really great and actually suggested I use sick leave if need be, as he's seen me struggling with the stairs here already. I have just been brought a cup of tea to my desk... bliss.... Smile.

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 24/02/2011 14:19

moomin156 · 24/02/2011 17:37

Welcome back nursesunshine!

For those thinking about early maternity leave, I can highly recommend it!!! I am feeling so much more relaxed, and the days are flying by I'm not at all bored (DD makes sure of that!!). It's quite frustrating that I'm not very mobile and can't do a lot, but at the same time it means I'm getting lots of rest. Just being able to switch off my alarm clock was a huge weight off my shoulders (though DD makes sure I don't get a lie in!).

I had such good intentions of keeping up all my yoga/ physio/ pelvic floor exercises but am finding long baths and afternoon naps are much more effective Grin

GoodVibrations · 24/02/2011 19:20

P.S that came across as bragging I'm so sorry Blush. I've had such a shitty time this pg that I am really making the most of things now, but I do know how lucky I am to be at home

NurseSunshine · 24/02/2011 19:29

Sounds lovely Good Vibrations, am very much looking forward to finishing up at uni so I can do the same :)

moomin156 · 24/02/2011 19:55
