now that really wasn't exciting enough to post twice... However, we have ordered our double pushchair tonight. We have gone for the Cosatto You2 with the spotty dogs. Precious Little Ones website was very good value :)

knackered76 · 21/02/2011 05:15

Morning all,

Yes it's another round of sleeplessness for me this morning! Been up since 4am after needing the loo and then started getting period type cramps. After lying in bed paranoid for a while thought I would phone delivery and spoke to the most lovely midwife :) Nothing to worry about apparently unless they get worse, which they apparently could do as this is number 3, but am to call again if I have any more worries . . .

The downside to being up this early is that I have just eaten my way through half a packet of biscuits Blush. Thank you all for your comments on the 'big' issue! DH thinks I had this last time from people, can't say I remember it this early though Hmm. Half a packet of biscuits at this time in the morning though should soon see to me getting even bigger Grin.

Moomin sorry you've had a stressful weekend :( Hope you're feeling better and have managed to rest up.

Motherofsnortpigs Oh I don't know, 4 fish fingers is quite impressive . . . . bragging rights surely to post twice Grin

Well, nowt else to do at this time in the morning so it's either off to study or back to bed . . . . . .

jasmine51 · 21/02/2011 09:01

knackered sorry to hear about your crap night. Was there something in the air last night? I didnt get to sleep til at least 2 and was awake at 5...oh well, good training I guess.
Crampy this morning too...and my joints are bloody painful...now I'm trying not to get paranoid about parvo again as that is one of the symptoms...blood test on Weds.

Mother 4 fish fingers is definitely worth posting twice, given the size of the gannet eater..even I only had 5! Thanks for the sheepskin suggestion - missed out on 2 yesterday on Ebay but I'll get there...or just use a sheep.

Busy day today - DH goes away again tomorrow and wont be back till D day so its going to be a long haul with many many tax forms in between

Have a good day x

moomin156 · 21/02/2011 09:19

Morning all.......thsnkfully no more bleeding but i am now knicker obsessed and sore from over wiping post wee Blush
Have my routine GP ( medical student) appointment this afternoon, i am going to ask to be signed off for a week. If i go to work this week i think my DH and my mom will be so cross at me. Work is making me so stressed it cant help and its such an active and physical job its hard to take it easy.......

We did go out and buy the pram and carseat yesterday, as that had been the plan on Saturday. Research completed in mothercare on sat and so we went to a discount shop where we knew pram was cheaper and they pricematched mothercares offer on the carseat and base. We have opted for Tomato Red with the back chassis on the oyster :)

8rubber fab news on the allotment, would love one. With my Ex i had a big garden with veg boxes and a green house........i have had to grow stuff in pots last year but we still had fab salad leaves, tomatoes and cucumbers :)
Amazing what you can do in small spaces. Hope the next house has a garden so i can plant some stuff again

Really fidgety nights sleep - boobs and bump feeling really heavy, am thinking of investing in one of those sausage looking pregnancy pillows, but not sure if it would be much better than just using a couple of normal pillows?

I have to wait in all day for delivery of new washing machine after ours died last week - should be perfect chance to get my studying done but finding all sorts to do instead! Including adding my list of essentials that friends / mothercare / midwife suggested, that I said I would add a while ago so here goes. I haven't included anything to do with feeding as know nothing about that yet!! Also have just stuck to the things I need for baby's arrival rather than things I'll need after 6 weeks or 3 months or whatever..

moses basket
fitted sheets x 4
topsheets x 4
blankets x 2-3
swaddling blanket
muslin squares
changing mat
carry cot
pushchair base thing
car seat (& base)
car seat adaptors
changing bag / cheap alternative
sleepsuits x 6-8
vests x 4
body suits x 6-8
hats x 2
cardigans x 2
socks x 2-3
scratch mitts x 2
cotton wool
baby wipes
sudocrem
nappies
nappy bags
baby towel with hood
baby bath / support

My friend gave me a whole another list for things I'll need for myself during / after the birth but that terrified me so am ignoring that for a bit!!

Have a good day all - hope those feeling tired / crampy / bleeding feel better xx

LisasCat · 21/02/2011 09:42

8rd am jealous of your allotment plans. I reached the top of the list and was offered one just after I found out I was pregnant. Because I would have been doing it on my own, I had to turn it down, knowing that I'd be close to useless during the spring, when the most work needs doing. Fortunately nice parish council lady just bumped me down one place on the list, so hopefully I'll get one next season.

Speaking of which, all gardening ladies, are seed potatoes in the garden centres yet, or am I too early? I can't remember when I got them last year.

jasmine51 · 21/02/2011 10:03

Lisa re potatoes, yes they are..and I saw them in Sainsburys too on Sat.

If anyone local feel like taking on my veggie patch this year I would gladly donate! Have just covered it up with carpet because I cant see myslf tending it this year, same applies to greenhouse - will be giving it a rest year. Will plant up some patio tubs instead I think - at least I dont have to bend down so much to those...and there wont be so many weeds. Now just got to work out whether I can cope with qtr acre of lawn mowing...might have to get a gardener...wow that makes me sound so posh!

moomin156 · 21/02/2011 10:07

jasmine......mowing lawns is definitely a 'blue' job......planting and nurturing the vegs = 'pink' job. :)

OP posts:
LisasCat · 21/02/2011 10:42

jasmine let's go halves on a goat. We can have him/her alternate weeks, to keep the lawns down.

moomin156 · 21/02/2011 11:28

Then you could make goats cheese and sell it to the jue in june ladies........

Just had a voucher thru for JojoMamanBebe - quote MTA11 to get 10% off and free p&P if you spend £45.

jasmine51 · 21/02/2011 12:19

The day someone makes a goat who only eats grass and not flowers, veggies or washing on the line then you're on! The same applies to geese, cows and rabbits which are all in abundance round here!
and the problem with goats cheese is that it tastes of goat!

I am looking after my neighbours house at the mo and they have bee hives - did you know that honey is generally pasteurised - I had visions of popping up there for jars of raw honeycomb but he has a mass of equipment in his garage to treat the honey before we get the chance to go near it - bit of trivia for the day.

moomin156 · 21/02/2011 12:25

jasmine i love the taste of goat lol

OP posts:
jasmine51 · 21/02/2011 12:26

moomin you are a worry!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 21/02/2011 12:51

I'm with moomin. I proudly have goats milk in my fridge (all out of cheese right now though).

All this talk of gardens and allotments is making me feel a bit Envy. How I miss having enough space to grow anything (even in pots).

knackered76 · 21/02/2011 14:13

Well my attempt at a vegetable plot last year ended in most impressive failure! My carrots were tiny, the leeks not even spring onions and the peppers were comedy small . . . oh well, it seems to have provided a good place for the local cats to come and poo in!

Only 2pm, I have the whole rest of the day to go with 2 children who aren't at school . . I've not had enough sleep and am already waning badly . . . . please hurry up 7pm and let both my children be intact by the time you arrive!

moomin156 · 21/02/2011 14:18

knackered dont give up, growing veg is a lot of trial and error. I have had several disasters over the years and now stick to

Salad leaves, tomatoes, onions, runnerbeans, courgettes, carrots, beetroot. Things that are great straight from the garden and into a sandwich or pan!

Failures have been - garlic, kale, french beans, aubergines.....cant remember what else.

OP posts:
takethatlady · 21/02/2011 14:19

I love goat's cheese Smile

I am scared about that list of stuff we need Shock

Not much else to say but you ladies dropped off my watch list so I'm bookmarking!

Sarahmumtobe · 21/02/2011 14:32

Just checking in - finding the goat/vegetable chat quite amusing! I like practically all types of cheese but not a big fan of goats cheese.

We did the BBC dig in veg last year and found the courgettes and French beans in tubs worked really well. Carrots were ok but not great, and we also grew spring onions, radishes and lettuces in a fabric growing bag that were successful.

Have been very disorganised and not emptied all the tubs and containers yet!

Sorry to hear about sleepless nights and scares-hope all are ok and hang on there knackered .

jasmine51 · 21/02/2011 14:38

Mangetout in tubs on the patio are good - very nibblable.
Giving up on the day now - going upstairs to get horizontal - feeling rubbish and need to sleep it off. No earnings for me today.

8rubberduckies · 21/02/2011 16:04

Lovely to read all the veg tips! We are complete novices, so it should be an interesting year... luckily the couple we are sharing with are big patio growers, so hopefully they will be able to keep us in edibles if ours are a complete disaster! Am thinking of sticking to some really simple stuff this spring, getting it ready for next year and planting up some herb tubs. Very excited!

I would also like to take your goat off your hands jasmine and lisascat if it gets too troublesome.. you can't beat a goat curry! Wink

There was definitely something in the air last night... my ds has a cough and it is a bit like having a newborn again as he's awake every couple of hours. I slept for about 2 hours before ds was in bed with me crying at 11.30, got him settled after an hour and slept for a couple of hours, then dp came up after snoozing on the sofa and kept me awake with his snoring! Angry I gave up and retired to ds's bed about 5am, but only dozed then 'til up time. Feel like pooh today, and am being a bad Mum and have popped ds in front of a DVD for a bit of downtime. Bring on sleep tonight!!!!

NoToast · 21/02/2011 17:04

Thanks citizen oscar for the hypnobirth reply! Am now planning on trying the natal hypnotherapy book and CDs and seeing how that goes. Am bit worried about paying for a course while I still have a low lying placenta but hope to get some benefits even if it does end in c-section.

Last week I got very down about the house move (this Friday) and threw a series of wobbles that would suit a teenager. Didn't want to go to hospital for birth and wasn't going to go, didn't want a baby, didn't want to live in the country etc etc Blush. All ok now, I guess being hit by the reality of changes is pretty normal around this time of pregnancy...

Talking of gardening am planning to have a go at making a small plot for salads, courgettes and toms at the new house. I might need to borrow the goat first for a bit of grazing before 8rd scoffs it. My prize crop is nasturtiums, easy peasy to grow, look pretty and the leaves and flowers are yum.

moomin156 · 21/02/2011 17:39

well just had a mommoth appointment at the Drs.......1hr 10min. Been signed off for a week to try and relax.........tears probably helped, poor medical student was out of his depth and went to get trained GP LOL
BP better, urine still clear and no obvious sign of why i bled.
GP said that there is often no rationale for why i am so tearful.....as i burst into tears again. Oh well at least no work for a week. He also said i may need to consider finishing before 34weeks if i continued to be like this......:)

moomin way to go - time to plan your veggie plots and work out how I'm going to get this friggin virtual goat out of my garden that everyone seems to have dreamed up for me!

mother got my sheepskin cheap on ebay thanks. Tip - if anyone else is planning to get one, search for sheepskin buggy liner not sheepskin pram liner as they seem to go for less money even though they are the same thing.

Bunking off aquanatal this evening - feeling a bit naughty
