We are home now but I had a rather traumatic time of it and had to have an emergency c section. My placenta ruptured at 3.30am and I started bleeding heavily. Luckily I was in hospital for my induction at the time and they dashed me in record speed to the delivery rooms and straight into theatre. There wasn?t much time for anything as I was in rather a delicate state and Annabel?s vitals were getting worse by the second. Thankfully they gave me a general anesthetic so I was well away with the faries and can?t remember any of it. The staff had me from the ward into theatre and with a little baby girl in 25 mins, they really were fantastic. I got to have morphine and was feeding Annabel within the hour. Since then every day we both get stronger and more confident with each other. She is feeding really well and sleeping lots too. I don?t feel too tired at the moment just in lots of pain.

Hi, grannygoose yes i had no probs delivery after they gave me the gel i was on monitor for an hour but that was night before, i then went to sleep and woke at 5.30am had a show but still had no pains maybe a slight upset stomache feeling. I then started in labour at about 9am at 11.30 i asked them to check me as thought i was i n labour but the mdw said it was a few tightenings nothing to worry about,( knew i was in labour as was pretty painfull) at about 12 they had a shift change and i begged trainee mdw to check me and i was 8cm, they all started to panic then as there were no beds in delivery unit, eventually got me there and a bit of gas and air and about 20 mins on monitor then, broke my waters and Holly was born at 13.26 . I did not want to go on monitor as up till then had been walking around but it was not too bad as only on it for a bit.
Dont worry it is all a blur and then you have the baby and you forget everything!!

anyone left here? I'm so impatient, I'm 5 days overdue and scheduled for an induction on the 4th November. Might have to join the other group!!! I've had no pain, no show, the doc tried to perform an membrane sweep last week but my cervix was closed and hard, so I'm not very hopeful for a 'natural' birth... anywone else late?? mimixx

Sorry eclose..... fingers crossed for you as well!!!

grannygoose · 29/10/2005 10:55

Morning ladies. I have resigned myself to the induction on 4 Nov so that I dont wake up disappointed every morning. That way if he comes before friday it will be an extra special surprise.

Congrats to Lexie and Trice and I am glad baby Annabel is safe after the traumatic birth. I couldnt bear to read any bad news on here given my fragile and emotional state.

On the bright side, DP has the whole weekend free (normally works overtime Saturdays) and has taken monday off too. Hooray - lots of us time this weekend. Plus we really have to choose a name - or at least a short list.

Have a lovely day and chat to you all later.

Redtartanlass · 29/10/2005 18:03

oh well gg at least the end is near, this time next week, you'll you have your wee babe.

Know exactly how you feel, but promise you it isall worth it!!!

Lexie100 · 30/10/2005 09:53

I know it was traumatic but it just goes to show that medical science is fantastic and i now have every faith in the medical profession. They were utterly amazing. I was very unlucky, you'll be fine.
