well not impressed with MW.... 2 women in labour so only had time to do the basic checks (bp/wee/hb etc) so NO SWEEP.... GRRRR

She is arranging an appointment at the hospital for me tomorrow so i can meet the consultant on Friday to discuss induction..... now will probably be induced 31st/1st (BLOODY HALLOWEEN!) so doubt ill still be an october mummy

grannygoose · 23/10/2005 17:34

Lexie - If nothing happens tonight, then good luck for tomorrow.

If no action here by wednesday, then I have to go for a sweep too. Any advice on what it will be like? MW says it "can be uncomfortable" - probably an understatement?

triceratops · 23/10/2005 18:13

Having your cervix pinged by the midwife is not fun GG. It certainly makes your eyes water It is nothing compared to labour though.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 23/10/2005 18:15

i wish i had got the chance to have my cervix pinged!!!

Still realyl angry actually, but never mind... hospital on friday it is!

grannygoose · 23/10/2005 18:17

Thanks Trice...I suspected that much - is there any danger that they can rupture the membranes by accident? I suppose there is...but is that a real risk?

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 23/10/2005 18:18

i dont think they can GG - they only use their fingers - if your membranes are on their way, it is possible i guess, but it wouldnt be a problem would it?! We want these babies out dont we?!

grannygoose · 23/10/2005 18:19

I drove past the hospital this evening, and it struck terror into my heart - okay maybe not terror, but severe trepidation!!!

Last time I was at MIL she proceeded to tell me all about the neighbour's friends etc etc who had to give birth in a room that hadnt been cleaned yet after the previous occupant....

triceratops · 23/10/2005 22:22

J&BM you could always get your dh to do it. Although you may not want him to see you as an oven ready chicken . Just keep repeating to yourself "it is only a few days now".

Looking at the post natal board I am looking forward with some concern at the remodelling (again) of my lady bits. I had conveniently forgotten about that bit of having another child

triceratops · 23/10/2005 22:26

Grannygoose - if you are capable of noticing/worrying about the cleanliness of the birthing room you have gone in to hospital too early!

Seriously though - try not to panic. Labour is not a walk in the park, but try to think of all the really feeble women you know who have more than one child. It really can't be that bad . And you get a baby at the end of it which really does make it all worth while.

Lexie100 · 24/10/2005 08:08

Well nothing again last night so induction it is

My sweeps were fine, yes unconfortable but quite ok. I think it depends on the amount of experience the MW has. I also think it dislodged my mucus plug and she said it can cause your waters to break but it has never happened to her. If your waters do break then they were going to anyway.

I think this is going to be the longest day of my life. I'm terrified.

Nothing here either.... MW just called.... appointment is now Thursday at the hospital.... woo hoo!

grannygoose · 24/10/2005 09:39

Morning... thanks for the advice. Last night I dreamt all about my new baby, but the dream conveniently excluded any aspect of labour and delivery. Repression or what????

Good Luck today Lexie - sending you positive vibes across the airwaves. And to J&Bmum too for Thursday - at least you have a timetable now.

Off to stir the porridge - got to keep my strength up

BigBumpBonnie · 24/10/2005 09:42

It's all going to happen soon for you left here. Really exciting. Trice is right, labour really isn't that bad. There's always an epidural if things get tough, mine was FANTASTIC. As soon as you're holding your babe you forget all about it anyway.

Good luck everyone

danishmummy · 24/10/2005 09:53

Hope this works to show you baby James.

If not: he is in Members Profiles as "baby James -- one day old."

Enjoying him soooo much. DD is happy, caring and affectionate towards him too, although to me being a challenging toddler! Trying not to get too angry/annoyed with her, poor darling. Another big change in her little life.

RTL -- huge TILLYKKE!!! I am so happy for you, and for your quick labour... was it more sore as it was so quick? Hope you are both okay. Well done. And thank you for thinking about me during my 6 day hospital stay and considering contacting the embassy!! Nice to be missed.

Good luck to those of you still waiting!

Got my pram stolen last night!!!!!

babyonboard · 24/10/2005 13:51

Just dropping in from november to see how those still waiting are doing.
JessicaABM you must be going crazy! You've been willing and expecting it to happen for so long!
