Ledkr Go girl go!! - can't really carry that off but the sentiment is there xxxxxx

smallblackflowers · 27/01/2011 10:33

ledkr all the very best for today xxxx

PinkiePoo · 27/01/2011 10:38

What an exciting morning!!

And i get to teach my last Thursday night classes, whoopee!!

Quick question: Has anyone had SPD? I am finding like i have been booted in the crotch, so painful and its worse in the middle of the night, the pain spreading to my tummy!

Any idea?

smallblackflowers · 27/01/2011 10:58

pinkie my front SPD pain is a very central pain, but it tends to go down my inner thighs rather than up to my tummy. I find that sleeping with a pillow between my knees really helps.
It is probably worth mentioning the pain to your midwife if it is anywhere near your tummy, as SPD pain is pelvic, and related to the nerves that travel through your pelvis and down your legs. Probably nothing to worry about but better safe than sorry, Smile

I'm feeling really crappy today - down in the dumps, and not like myself at all Sad. Very rarely feel like this. Perhaps a sign of the hormones gearing up....but it might just be that I'm coming down with a cold or something, as have a stuffy nose and a bit of a headache. Anyway, a duvet day for me I think.

Deliaskis · 27/01/2011 11:25

pinkie my SPD pain like smallblackflowers is between my legs and down my inner thighs, not really up into my tummy.

The pain you are describing sounds like what I get when I think is baby pressing down, but I am no expert, I just only seem to get it some of the time, and then baby moves and it's fine for a bit.

smallblackflowers sorry you're feeling rubbish, get thee under the duvet, with everything you need within arms reach!

Can't believe ledkr is updating from hospital bed!

As promised, my birth story:

A couple of threads ago, I posted about having a rather strong Braxton-Hicks contraction or two. Just after midnight I went to the loo, came downstairs for a glass of water. Two or three steps up the stairs, I thought I'd suddenly become incontinent. Then it dawned on me that my waters had broken!

I went upstairs, and the fluid kept trickling. My DH was calm as could be, got my maternity notes, and thankfully I had my bags mostly packed. I was half expecting the doctor to say it was a false alarm, that the waters hadn't gone as I was only 34+6.

Was admitted to antenatal ward. As labour didn't start, I was given syntocinon drip on Thursday 13th at 12:30am after a long wait as the maternity ward was very busy. After around 10pm that day I'd only dilated 3 cm so my son was born via emergency C-section on 23:49 on 14th January. He was rushed to NICU as he had difficulty breathing but was off oxygen support in a couple of days, moved to SCBU and came home last Friday. He's back to birth weight and thank God, is doing well :)

That's it in a nutshell...Thanks again you lovely MNers for your well wishes and congrats on the Feb 2011 thread!

varicoseveined · 27/01/2011 11:31

Oh goodness good luck ledkr!!!

wigglesrock · 27/01/2011 11:37

varicoseveined congratulations and well done. Glad you are both well and home.

cheekymonk · 27/01/2011 11:40

Hi Ladies, Can I join in at the last minute! I have been watching this thread with interest! I am due 2nd Feb. Had consultant appt today (at 39+1) and they did a membrane sweep and I found out I was 2 cm dilated!!! All very exciting but she said baby's head was high up so labour might not be imminent. (I see from notes baby is bobbing up and down as previously been more engaged than today)
This is my 2nd baby btw. !1st baby is 6.
Good luck to everyone!! x

WanderingSheep · 27/01/2011 11:42

LOL at Ledkr's update! That's MN dedication for you Grin

Thanks for your birth story, varicose! Glad he's home and doing well! Smile How are you feeling, are you recovering well from CS?

SBF sorry that you're feeling crappy today. Duvet day sounds like just what you need!

snowangels1 · 27/01/2011 11:44

tallulah I've known a few people have back to back vaginal delivery. I've also heard that baby can/often moves around even at the last mionute to the right way round - try bouncing on the ball if you have one :)

wiggles hope floradix helps and you feel better soon - I've been taking floradix throughout pg and so far so good on the iron levels (touch wood). It is expensive though but the most gentle iron stuff I've found on the stomach so it's worth it to avoid all that pain/sickiness IYKWIM.

Am eagerly awaiting update from ledkr and most dissapointed she isn't updating from the operating theatre during the procedure Wink Grin . Hopefully soon we might get fab news from her :)

sbf hope you get a restful duvet day. It's so grey and cold here and miserable here.

Return of incredible noisy bathroom men today - can't believe how much they shout at each other (father and son - father teaching son 'the business' who by the sounds of things isn't doing too well at all) it's very hard to feel relaxed or peaceful with such language and tone!

Consultant update - bit suprised really as was expecting to be given a date for induction etc but all they did was tell me to come back in 2 weeks for another scan and discuss posibility of induction - baby has only been on massive growth for past 3 weeks so thought of continuing for another 2 weeks with out any real monitoring feels like they are just knowingly letting this baby get out of hand size wise. They said they never induce before 38 weeks unless an essential reason(fair enough) and after that they rarely do it before 40 weeks - she actually said they might leave me until 40 weeks - I'm not sure if she continues like this I can get that big! I'm already measuring a month ahead. AM seeing mw this pm so will ask her if it's normal to just be left for 2 weeks in the air like this.

WanderingSheep · 27/01/2011 11:46

Hi and welcome CheekyMonk! Not too long to go for you then! Exciting! Smile

I'm due at the end of February but hoping that I will have the baby early! Do you know whether you're having a girl or a boy? And what do you have already? Smile

snowangels1 · 27/01/2011 11:47

completely x posted - thanks for sharing varicose and I hope you and LO are enjoying time together now, and welcome cheekymonk

wigglesrock · 27/01/2011 11:56

snowangels thanks for updating us re consultant, poo that you're not happy with how things were left, perhaps your midwife will be more reassuring. Glad floradix helped you, but to sound like my 3 year old "it's bigusting" Grin, it tastes exactly like what its made from, did I mention the nettles, beetroot etc Grin Good luck with midwife.

cheekymonkey welcome, hopefully not long to go now!!

sbf take it easy and try and get some sleep.

americanexpat · 27/01/2011 11:59

sbf - I'm feeling the same, just need some duvet time with the cats. I'm working until Monday but feeling completely over work, ready for ML.

vericose - glad he's doing well now and well done to your DH for remaining calm!

Deliaskis · 27/01/2011 12:02

angels sorry consultant apt left you feeling a bit 'unresolved'. I supposed it might be that baby has just had a massive growth spurt and might grow very little in the next 2 weeks. As I mentioned yesterday 2 weeks ago my baby was measuring 2 weeks ahead, but then this week, spot on for dates, so maybe s/he just had a big growing period and then has settled down. Plus maybe the accuracy of these things is less than certain!

Definitely ask your MW about it though, you will want to be reassured either way anyway and there's no harm in having another discussion about it.

Sorry for you though, I thought today would have given you a 'plan of action'.

D

WanderingSheep · 27/01/2011 12:06

wiggles did your MW not tell you to get spatone? Spatone is fab! It doesn't taste like anything and you just mix it with your orange juice (you can have it on it's own but it tastes nicer with orange juice and the vitamin C helps the iron absorbtion). It's expensive though, I think, about £20 a box but you get lots and it lasts ages.

I'm using prescribed tablets at the moment and I have to say that they've been fine so far . The ones that they gave me after I'd given birth to DD were awful! Really upset my tummy, although I don't really feel any better with these ones Hmm. Maybe they're not very strong.

snowangels1 · 27/01/2011 12:13

wiggles maybe it's an acquired taste you sort of get used to. It always tastes quite metallic to me and I was always Shock as if I tipped/spilt a bit into my white kitchen sink and didn't wash it away super quick it would stain it and I'd need to get the chemicals on to get the colour out Confused

wigglesrock · 27/01/2011 12:15

wanderingsheep No, I've heard good things about Spatone, she felt the nettle/carrot/ beetroot crap works very quickly and time is now quite important Grin She did mention diluting it with orange juice but fruit juice is one of my very dodgy foods/drinks so am trying to brave it out, but am feeling quite petulant and grumpy about it!! I am really bad with money, literally it burns a hole in my expensive, not very practical but very pretty purse but I can't abide spending money on stuff that tastes like shite even if its good for me Grin

cheekymonk · 27/01/2011 12:27

Thanks Wandering sheep, wrigglesrock snow angels. I have a DS. They are 80% sure I am having a girl so am trying to be openminded! How about you?

PinkiePoo · 27/01/2011 12:39

Thank you delia and smallblack.

Maybe it isn't SPD then by the sounds of it...maybe she is just pushing down. i am very big for what i am i think. But she is still very active as her bottom has now shifted to my other side!

Gonna try and upload a bump pic!!

PinkiePoo · 27/01/2011 12:43

Uploaded a BUMP pic. This was taken last week at 34 weeks...i am 36 weeks on Saturday, so got bigger too!!!

WanderingSheep · 27/01/2011 13:01

Ooh, I wonder if Ledkr has had her baby by now?

NeedToSleepZZZ · 27/01/2011 13:24

tallulah I'm worrying about a back labour as ds has been ROP since he's been head down (head down, facing upwards and to the left)and have been getting on all fours and bouncing away on my ball for what seems like hours everyday. Apparently a lot of babies turn round during labour but I want to encourage him as much as possible beforehand.

angels I'm a bit Shock that they are leaving you for 2 weeks but I suppose that could be a good thing as if it were seriously wrong then they'd be inducing you asap? I agree that it's appalling behaviour for ledkr not to be updating us from theatre Wink Wink Can't wait to hear how she is.

sbf sorry you're feeling rubbish, make the most of hibernating and make sure DH waits on you so you don't have to move!

I have my 38 weeks mw appt tomorrow and I hope she says ds is fully engaged as it bloody feels like he is with all the cervix trampolining going on, OUCH!

If anyone wants a laugh, I might post a last bump pic later, be warned though, it's not pretty! I was thinking that as we head into our last weeks/ days it might be funny to do a final TPT? I now long for the time when I was measuring 7 sheets...Grin

NeedToSleepZZZ · 27/01/2011 13:26

Oh, and pinkiepoo please get your pain checked by mw as a friend of mine is now overdue and she's been in bad pain, only to find out she has split her pelvis....Shock Obviously worst case scenario but get it checked!
