My Mum felt healthier when pg, FoxMulder - I have considered suing her for false representation...

CurlyCasper · 17/01/2011 21:50

also on the spec front - it is very easy to get carried away while snuffling small child and poke them in the face/head/eye with the corner of your glasses. Squeaks rarely complains though. Wee soul.

CurlyCasper · 17/01/2011 21:51

my mum too - maybe it's a 70s thing

Muser · 17/01/2011 21:52

This one doesn't look too bad either. I'd have this birth.

CluckyKate · 17/01/2011 21:52

Am hoping to buck the trend on home/water birth Curlswurld....that's if Cho doesn't beat me to it.

Don't think the pool lady was hippo but the fan lady might be - she's talking about tightening rather than contraction which is a hippo term, no?

Scorpette · 17/01/2011 21:53

FanThief's partner is talking about eating the placenta - so would I, after seeing that cottage pie.

CurlyCasper · 17/01/2011 21:54

dunno clucks - my hospital MWs never referred to contractions. I was bloody confused when they kept asking me about tightenings the day I went in to labour.

CluckyKate · 17/01/2011 21:55
CluckyKate · 17/01/2011 21:56

I think you're right Curly - plus she was on her back and there was lots of rubbing/cleaning down of the baby & not a lot of skin-to-skin. Amazing birth though!

Bit annoyed at the MW telling her that it would really, really hurt - not what you want to hear.

Scorpette · 17/01/2011 21:57

Awww, that was a lovely birth too. Am crying and laughing at the Fab. Might make TYF fan me (if only to make myself laugh at him to take my mind off things, buahaha).

Oh, Maxwell has guaranteed himself a daughter, the knob.

Scorpette · 17/01/2011 21:58

Was it a boy? I missed what they said

Muser · 17/01/2011 21:59

I think it was in my Ina May Gaskin book that she was saying contraction is really the wrong word as you want to be thinking of opening up, and contraction sounds like closing up. Which sort of makes sense.

Oh, it was. LALALA, not seeing the lady giving birth in the car park next week Confused

Awww, lovely birfs tonight. Now going to watch Glee on E4 :) Top telly.

CurlyCasper · 17/01/2011 22:02

and, awwwwwwwwwwwwwww!

well, thanks for your company this evening PESHes. I now have a baby to feed and a dog to kick out (better not mix those two up) and then to bed.

Might see you tomorrow for some BFGW judgeyness. But then again, my husband might actually expect me to make conversation, heaven forbid!

Scorpette · 17/01/2011 22:03

Have told The Lad that I hope he was taking notes at tonight's births, esp. the water one.

CluckyKate · 17/01/2011 22:07

Hippo stuff says same thing Muse only we call them surges!

Lovely births and lovely Mummies & Daddies this week.

MrCK is away tomorrow night so am in for a BFGW treat.

Medee · 17/01/2011 22:13

good episode tonight - I'd take either PoolGirl or PinkNightie's births for myself. Even Tendayi's birth looked OK for an inducted, epidural one. Must check what the pool options are here.

And I nominate PoolGirlSister for Most Useless Birth Partner Ever, beating even the dad who blew up the rubber glove.

Scorps glad to hear you have been taken seriously, and I really hope the medication helps sort out your problems, and you can enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

Gin where in Ecosse are you? I'm in the North East.

Medee · 17/01/2011 22:14

I too am not sure what to wear in labour. Also, hadn't thought about the glasses thing, will need to consider it.

Medee · 17/01/2011 22:15
  • gin
  • fox

otherwise, it all gets too confusing round here!

Scorpette · 17/01/2011 22:18

Hopefully see you tomorrow, Casper, great hanging out with ya :)

BFGW is GO tomorrow night, then!

Backinthebox · 17/01/2011 22:20

Hey Clucky if you're still there - LG has just gone to sleep! Hurray!

Curly I'm sure I'd have got my water birth if I hadn't been so busy avoiding having LG in a car and elected to stay at home instead! I could provide material for at least 2 episodes of OBEM! :o

Scorpette · 17/01/2011 22:22

Cheers, Medee :) Are you too having nightmare visions of a MW having to scoop your specs out of the birthing pool with the poo sieve (hopefully with nothing else in there)?!

Medee · 17/01/2011 22:30

it's either that or I am as blind as a bat - but then, is there going to be much I need to focus on?!

Scorpette · 17/01/2011 22:31

Woah, I think I just felt The Lad turn round. That was... intense!

Scorpette · 17/01/2011 22:38

I feel v dizzy and a bit sick without my glasses, as my main prob is astigmatism and I can't judge perspective and distance properly without them Confused
