MrsVidic You've made me smile as I call Saturdays 'Baking Day' too! :) I can HIGHLY recommend The Hummingbird Bakery recipe book, and if you look around online, you'll find some of their recipes. The most yummy brownies ever!

I can also highly recommend this for the most delicious mini carrot cakes.

Oooo, need cake now ...

CappuccinoCarrie · 04/02/2011 14:07

mrsV here's my fave brownie recipe (just look away when you're pouring in the sugar!!)

250g marg
250g dark choc
4 eggs
1tsp vanilla
333g caster sugar
150g plain flour
200g chocolate chips/chopped milk and white choc

Melt marg and dark choc in a bowl over hot water. Set aside to cool a bit.
Beat eggs, sugar, vanilla.
Beat egg mixture into cooled melted choc
Stir in flour and choc chips

Pour into greased square tin (you might want to line the tin with baking paper if it isn't one with a removable bottom as they can be a pain to get out as they're so gooey!)

Bake for about half an hour at 180o.

It should be slightly cracked on top but still gooey when a clean knife is insterted.

As with the recipe above it will continue to cook and set once you take it out. Allow to cool before trying to remove it from the tin.

Enjoy!!

So sorry Tokyo Sad to hear your news.

Does anyone have any low fat baking recipes? I love baking but want to be able to eat the results at will and not feel restricted...any ideas most welcome please! Home made granola is on the list for this weekend, though not strictly baking I guess :)

Tokyo, so sorry to hear your sad news.

RugbyWidow - there is this book that uses veg instead of fat in the recipes. Its also good if you are on a gluten-free diet too! Mind you her writing style is a bit irritating! Cakes are delicious though....

CappuccinoCarrie · 04/02/2011 14:28

oooh look what we can do now! Wine

Afternoon All!!

Have had a hellish morning at work today and doesnt feel like a Friday at all!!!

I saw MrsS mention discharge and glad i can hop on and ask another potential TMI question. I have had white stringy discharge all this while which i assume is normal. But the last couple of days (and not all the times i go to wee, just a few times) Ive noticed the discharge being light brownish. Im cramping a little bit on the sides sometimes esp when i couogh or move suddenly but i read somewhere that this is common in the 14th week onwards and called 'Round ligament pain' (where the uterus is growing so also called growing pains)

Im concerned about the brownisg discharge though and wondered if anyone else has had this? I'm exactly 14weeks today (heading into 15 tomorrow.. Should i be getting this checked?

CappuccinoCarrie · 04/02/2011 14:40

Can't help on the discharge ishoo, ut I have the cramping and pain in the side when I cough or move suddenly, its so nice to hear that its normal!
Hope you guys get some help with the TMI question soon...
Have some non-alcoholic Wine in the mean time Grin

Cappuccino I bought a new wireless bra two weeks ago and it hurts now around the rib cage (even though I bought a size bigger) and I'm already nearly out of it. Think this could be an expensive few months...

Ekka thanks so much! I've made beetroot cake before and it's actually really nice as you can't tell it has veg in it. I've just bought the book on Amazon as I'm so intrigued about the other recipes. Figure that even if they're stuffed with fat and sugar, I'll still be able to justify them as healthy, because of the vegetables! HA! Brilliant! Thank you.

My scan is booked!!!! After 2 hours on redial they actually rang me, the nice lady really did bring my notes to the top of the pile yesterday! The first scan they could offer me was the 24th, but I'll be on holiday, so I'm going on Monday 28th Feb. I'll be 15 1/2 weeks. The wait is actually going to kill me, I'm so glad I've got a week's holiday in there to distract me. There's no way I'll not be public by then, I'm just too large Blush. Certainly no fb posting til there's a photo to accompany it though...

Rehune · 04/02/2011 15:02

I came clean at work today. Boss was really happy - he said that I seemed more focused and maybe this was due to the pregnancy. I had to stop myself laughing in his face. I have been more focused. Not so much on work though!

I hope I will look pregnant enough to get a seat on the Tube soon - at least until the courtesy car comes!

Rehune · 04/02/2011 15:05

CappuccinoCarrie Yaay on your scan, that'll put your mind at ease (and save your finger) At least you have a holiday while you wait.

nickstermum · 04/02/2011 15:16

I had brown discharge, at 6-7 weeks though. You are usually ok with brown as its old blood but TBH i would contact epu and tell them as it meets their criteria for a scan :)

FX everything is ok xx

FeralGirlCambs · 04/02/2011 15:21

Oh CappuccinoCarrie you got my hopes up with your 'look what we can do now'. Wine I thought some new oh so unimpeachable scientific study had just come out approving of, nay recommending, Wine in pregnancy. Ah well...

CappuccinoCarrie · 04/02/2011 15:26

I can make up cite some research if you really want Wink

KTisPG · 04/02/2011 15:28

Just back from my scan. All ok, 1 baby wriggling and little heart beating away. I'm 11 + 6 apparently which makes my EDD 20 August, so am joining this weeks high climbers on the August baby charts Grin

Rehune · 04/02/2011 15:33

Awww KTisPG good stuff

KLou111 · 04/02/2011 16:10

Anu I'd go get yourself checked. I had brown at 8 weeks for a few days and got sent straight in the next day after I called the MW.
There was a girl on here, can't remember who now, who was about 8 weeks, and she had brown and unfortunately lost her baby.
As you're so far on, it is probably nothing to worry about, but it's better to be safe :)

KLou111 · 04/02/2011 16:11

PS you lot are very naughty putting those recipes on here, makes me want to bake another cake (I've just polished off the iced jam sponge I made earlier in the week, think DH only had one slice!)

Annie456 · 04/02/2011 16:24

Hi bunnyfrance how did you get on with your appointment? They did my surgery under local anaesthetic because I was only 10 weeks and I think they try to avoid general in the first trimester. I didn't feel the surgery but the local hurt like hell. Whole thing was over in 10 mins and I'm pleased to say I'm healing really well and they've stopped 'packing' the wound as it's healing so fast. You have my sympathy but I can honestly say that the pain of surgery and dressing changes is so mild compared to having the abscess and you'll feel so much better 24 hours after surgery.

Glad you said that symptoms disappear lozza as my boobs have stopped hurting and I've been waking up recently and said to DH "I'm definitely not pregnant any more, I can just tell". I just hit 10 weeks so I guess it makes sense. 2 weeks til scan.....

LifeOfKate · 04/02/2011 17:03

LadyGG - Think my supply is ok, I can still feel let down and DS hasn't started complaining yet! I do only feed once or twice a day though, so it's not like I'm feeding loads.

littlemissw - I'm not worried about weaning as such, I'm quite comfortable with the thought of tandem feeding in theory, my only concern on that front is that I can only feed on one side, so my concerns would be trying to balance both DCs needs on one boob! I think my concern about weaning would be whether it would make DS feel pushed out when the new baby arrived and then you spend the first 6 weeks feeding approx every 30 seconds... I just wonder if he'll be jealous and whether it would not do sibling relations much good...

Anyway, I had my scan this morning, all is well. They have moved my date back AGAIN, so it is now the original date according to LMP (which for the record, I thought was wrong Wink), I'm glad I hadn't changed my date yet on the stats! We got quite a funny picture, baby is on it's knees, will put pic on my profile.
The only concerning thing from the hospital is that I might not be able to have a vaginal delivery. Basically, when I had DS, I had a bad 2nd degree tear and didn't heal properly, so had to be operated on back in October to repair my perineum. I saw the consultant today and he will see me at 34 weeks to assess me as he is not sure that my poor perineum will survive another vaginal delivery :( There are two concerns, one that the tear was very close to the bowel and he is a bit concerned that if there is more injury and more repair to that area that I could end up incontinent. The second is that if another repair is necessary, the scar tissue might be too great and sex might not ever be comfortable again and might even be impossible. Oh, the things we put ourselves through as mothers! I suspect that he is sitting on the fence and that it will ultimately end up as my decision as he can't offer any guarantees either way :( At least I've got a bit of time to think about it :)

Sorry for that essay, hope everyone else is well!

littlemisslozza · 04/02/2011 17:14

If it's any consolation lifeofKate I had an ELCS with DS2 and it was wonderful. Recovery fine too, similar time to after the forceps birth with DS1 but less sore. I am looking forward to another ELCS in August. It does help if you have family around to help with any older ones for the first two or three weeks though.

neverlookback · 04/02/2011 17:46

yey just got back from nt scan, everything went good, little baba wriggling like crazy, dp saw it loads more than me, the sonographer would not tell me the nuchal measurment as she said it means nothing on its own, but when they gave me the envelope to take to next dept for the blood tests i had a peek and it was 1.3 so ok i think!!! going out for a lovely thai meal tonight to celebrate with dp x

nickstermum · 04/02/2011 18:01

Scan news deserves a little drinkie

RugbyWidow7 · 04/02/2011 18:15

Argh congrats KTisPG, lifeofkate and neverlookback - that's fab, I bet you're over the moon to see the ickle munchkins! 4 days and countin'...

lifeofkate that's funny that your riggler was on its knees! Sorry to hear what your consultant said, but I guess it's good to have all the information and sounds like you trust in your team to advise of what's best for you.
