MrsVidic isn't the whole point of going to the gym so you can eat cakes afterwards and still be at some kind of equilibrium (like the idea of eating salad AND chips) Smile I've been trying to keep up normal visits partly out of a desire not to be a blob, partly (and this is really childish) because it makes me feel good when people there say 'it's so amazing you're still coming, well done', and partly out of a probably misguided belief that fitness helps with that nasty thing that happens at the end that I'm refusing to think about.

Hersetta, yes I am still Cambs (they wouldn't let me just be FeralGirl though I don't see any other feral types around.... anyway, nice if it leads to making a connection!) and at the Rosie, which seems to have been pretty good so far. Are you finding it ok?

I had a sultana scone and jam for breakfast, which is a cake in all but name.

Thanks everyone for NCT thoughts - I think littlemisslozza answers one of my concerns - that I'm a great reader / researcher and am worried about wasting money and not learning anything. But it sounds like learning might not be the whole story! I didn't like the way I made an enquiry and have received 4 emails and a welcome pack thanking for my booking. Seemed a bit pushy; no effort to persuade me to sign up, just assumption that I would. Am probably just grumpy cow.

KLou111There are much nicer water births to watch!
Try some of these-

I want to give birth here!- S xx
KTisPG · 27/01/2011 09:22

Spot on Nickstersmum flexibility is definitely the key! I really wish I hadn't had an epidural with DD though. I didn't understand the risks well enough and it knackered my back for over a year. I couldn't walk for more than 5 minutes without being in agony to the point of having to sit downSad. It took me 18 months of weekly osteopathy to sort it out and even now it's still not right so I cannot stand for long periods of time, although it doesn't affect me to much on a daily basis.

My plan is to have an idea what I want, what I definitely don't want and then go with the flow.

nickstermum · 27/01/2011 09:30

Agree. My epidural was fine, and it was out of desparation that i had it when everything else kept wearing off i was in labour so long (17 hours established, after 5 nights contracting slow labour so exhausted). i would say be flexi but dont leave things too late. I had to be pinned down for mine to go in. As soon as i had it i relaxed.

kathpeak · 27/01/2011 09:55

I ended up having an epidural with my dd. It was after 24 hours of labour and I was a bit out of it with the tiredness. It did the job and gave me the opportunity to rest, but, at the same time, I felt very disassociated from what was going on with my body.
I would be reluctant to have an epi again, would wouldn't absolutely rule it out.

KLou111 · 27/01/2011 12:31

Thanks Selina, I just did a search and that one came up that was actually a video as most are just slide shows of photos!
Will have a look at the ones you've posted
:)

SelinaDoula · 27/01/2011 12:50

Some of them are slides shows too, but a couple are videos!

Hello everyone, I've had my scan today and everything is fine Grin I didn't expect the beanlet to look so much like a baby, crazy I know! We got there 15mins early but they took us straight in which was great as I was bursting for the loo, having drunk 2 pints of water as instructed! At the end the sonographer said it wasn't the best picture because my bladder was so full Hmm I could've strangled her! DP had a bit of a cry when he was looking at the monitor, however he's now saying his eyes were just watering Wink Anyhoo they've brought my due date forwards to the 14th August so I'll update the list. Next scan March!

Before the scan we went to give our notice of marriage so it's been a lovely day all round Smile

I've watched the water vid but I'm hoping the one at my hospital is more like a deep pool rather than a bath; she didn't look very comfy? Those who have had waterbirths, what were they like?

Congrats Firawla and Feral!

KLou111 · 27/01/2011 15:08

Oooooo Betty it's sounds a lovely day all round :)

Watery eyes, men, what they like :)

Most water birth pics etc I've been looking at were in proper pools, that was the only one I've seen in a bath. Been looking at buying one, as only £100 odd fora nice sized one, so we'll see. At the moment,I still want the drugs!

spilttheteaagain · 27/01/2011 15:25

Congratulations betty, on both counts!

I have wind and it hurts! If only I could fart...

KLou111 · 27/01/2011 15:30

tax return done, what a lovely feeling. Now I can enjoy my scan tomorrow even more (before starting DH's tax return on Saturday, oh the joy!)

Firawla · 27/01/2011 15:37

aww betty thats lovely giving your marriage notice on the same day, must be feeling really mushy now with that and scan :p

as for births i had epidural with my 1st, which i dont regret @ all cos he was induced and back to back and soooo painful!! i really needed it, was a huge relief once i got it and it started working. ds2 i managed to go without (altho i did ask for it but only half heartedly really, i just thought oh i better ask) but overall his was such an easier labour, so hoping for another like that. although if i ended up induced again or with a baby in a more painful position i would consider just having epi again if really needed

FeralGirlCambs · 27/01/2011 15:41

I'll second KLou on the tax return, and done DH's too (is there a smug emoticon?) - didn't feel so good handing over the money, though!

Sounds like a lovely day bettyboo - when's the wedding?

Teladi · 27/01/2011 16:06

Congrats bettyboo!

MrsChemist · 27/01/2011 16:20

Congratulation betty

Went to see MW today. Tuns out the MW who bumped my appointment ahead by a week only booked me in for a five minute slot, when she really need a half an hour slot to book me in. Angry

I get all my blood tests and green notes and things at the hospital though (I think because the hospital I'm going to is out of my area), so it didn't take too long in the end.

So now I just need to wait to hear back from the hospital.

I hate waiting. I'm looking forward to getting my first graze box tomorrow though Grin I used your code if you don't mind MrsVidic. Thank you for posting it.

majormoo · 27/01/2011 16:27

Congratulations on good scans and the wedding notice betty.
Betty my waterbirth was great. The water slowed my contractions down which was good for me and I did not have stitches. That was a big relief after a bad tear with my ds1.
I did nct classes when pregnant with my DD. I still see a few of the mums 8 years later. Classes were twee though and nhs ones much more informative.also for all our nct natural birth classes out of 8 of us, four were induced-including me-and five births were c sections in the end. Only 1 had a straight forward home birth. So I would take the classes with a pinch of salt.
Saw 'black swan' last night which was good but scared the living daylights out of me.

LifeOfKate · 27/01/2011 16:47

Hi all,

This thread has been moving so fast, I have been reading, but then don't have time to post once I get to the end!

Hi to all the new joiners and lovely to hear about all the scans :) I've got mine a week tomorrow, when I'll be 12+5. A bit annoying, I think DH will have to wait in the waiting room with DS as it looks like they don't allow children into the scan room. The only people who can look after him are the ILs, but they are most likely going to be down south helping out SIL whose partner will just have gone back to work after paternity leave :(

I'm not having the NT/blood test, it just didn't make any sense when I looked into the likelihood of different outcomes, and I just didn't want to put myself through the stress.

My crazy tiredness seems to be lifting a bit now which is a relief, although the taste in my mouth is still bloody awful, I am so fed up with it now. Also all drinks taste revolting, so I'm finding it really hard not to get dehydrated :(

Does anyone else really not enjoy pregnancy? :( Before DS, I thought I would love it, but I just felt crap the whole way through. I had no major problems, just nausea/tiredness in the first trimester and then low blood pressure/dizziness in second trimester and more of the same plus tiredness in the third trimester. So I really don't feel justified in hating it so much, but I really do :( I would love more kids (although we did always agree on 2 as DH doesn't want more than 2), but I just think there is no way I could go through pregnancy again. It sounds so stupid, and so horrible as some people are so desperate to be pregnant, that I do feel guilty for feeling this way :( I want this baby so much, if I could do it without the pregnancy/birth part, I would! My mum was asking if I was really happy, and of course, I nodded and said yes, but I really don't, I'm just fed up and hate feeling crap and am wishing the next 7 months away. Ugh, hate feeling like this :(

LifeOfKate · 27/01/2011 16:47

Sorry for all the sad faces in my last post! Here's a smile to try and lift the mood! :o

MrsVidic · 27/01/2011 16:50

graze is amazing and i'm thrilled you used my code as i get a pound off my next one. If anyone else wants one just go to graze.com and type this code and you'll get a free box y2z76wd3

LadyGoneGaga · 27/01/2011 16:53

Aw, hugs Kate. You'll start to feel a bit better soon. Is there noone at all who would have DS for a bit - seems such a shame that DH will miss out. Maybe they will relent and allow him to come in once they've done the important measurements? Or could you sneakily try and get him to nap in his buggy at that time?

KLou111 · 27/01/2011 16:56

Sorry Kate that you're feeling a bit down. Maybe you will feel better a bit further into your pregnancy.
I'm feeling OK with it all so far, only wishing the time away as I want to meet our little one!! So impatient! Glad I'm not an elephant, I think they are preg for 22 months!! Confused

MrsVidic · 27/01/2011 17:00

lifeofkate i don.t enjoy being pregnant either but don.t feel guilty for it. Your body obviously has strong hormones which is a good thing and its normal to feel awful. My hospital does nhs antenatal and i didn't bother with nct. A great way of meeting mums is mum and baby groups and breast feeding groups. Its worth checking out whats going on near you now rather than after the event so you can go asap as it is a life saver.

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 27/01/2011 17:01

Hello, can I add myself? :) Had my scan today which showed one wriggly baby due around August 1st, so feel safe to out myself. Have one lovely DS already and looking forward to meeting this new little one. Also looking forward to not being constipated anymore Hmm

MrsVidic · 27/01/2011 17:01

oh and my hospital say children are allowed if you have someone with you. Its worth checking out
