OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Grin it's me with the naked photos Grin
Didn't mean to horrify you all. For the record we are also doing a clothed version!

coastgirl with the dates, I had a date issue last time. I was charting, certain of conception dates, and was called for my scan at 11 weeks. They dated me as 12 weeks. I was really worried that that meant they would think I was 41 weeks when really I was 40 and push me for an induction before I felt it was justified. As you know, we never got that far so it was immaterial, but keep your charts incase you need to argue later. Some MNers have said they just scribbled out the hospital dates in their notes and wrote their own in which is what I am definitely considering if the same thing happens again. The barmy dating last time would have had me conceiving on CD5, whilst still having a period and having no sex yet so I knew it was cobblers.

spilttheteaagain · 18/01/2011 17:13

Selina what are your thoughts on homebirths when the transfer time is quite long (30-40 min journey, ambulance response time 15-20 mins, so realistically 1 hour from decision to arrival at hospital)?

And welcome and congratulations Smile

spilttheteaagain · 18/01/2011 17:15

ooh and coastgirl this time I have lied about my LMP date. I took my ovulation date and calculated a standard cycle around it (ov on CD14, 28 day cycle) and worked out the LMP date that would give me the correct EDD, but obv the scan may come back different again.

LittleBeaut · 18/01/2011 17:43

I've never fancied a home birth you know?? But as my last birth was very quick maybe I should eh??

Oooh reminding me I have to actually fill all my notes in before going to see Sharon my midwife on Thurday afternoon Shock (thats me yawning)

Mmm... crispy pancakes - mince ones are the only ones worth even looking at!! x

nickstermum · 18/01/2011 18:16

havent caught up properly yet as i am on a conference, but i have gained a stone, plus like LadyG the weight i gained when pg in August and didnt lose.... Hoofing! Feck it, I am the biggest i have ever been and i just dont care. Plus also i still look like a tramp!!! Grin

MrsVidic · 18/01/2011 18:49

nickstar I took am looking tramp-tastic,my uni hoodie and jeans are now a staple, day off work outfit.

selina welcome, I'm sure we will pick your brains for the next couple of weeks

littlebeaut I too have had a quick labour previously- does it get faster each time I was 6 hours before?

ladygonegaga I know i need to chill out and to be honest I'm fine the majority of the time but its these hormones that start the little doubts that then eat away at me. I know that after my scan, when I know the baby is ok I'll chill out. I suppose its the un knowing bit and being unable to control weather I make it to 12 weeks that gets me.

I have had a lovely day taking my dd to an icecream farm with soft play near where i live.

Has anyone else been getting back ache- i think tonight i will demand a back rub from dp- i trained him up to be quite good at them last time.

As for OBEM- i cant believe the ammount of women who give birth on the bed on their backs.

LittleBeaut · 18/01/2011 18:55

MrsV that icecream farm sounds awesome where is that?? Whats it called?? And yeah I had quick labours both time and I am under the impression they get quicker Confused has anyone else heard this?? First time round I was 5 hours second time 25 minutes... only just got to the hospital in time!! x

LittleBeaut · 18/01/2011 19:00

And yeah I do have back ache too!! Started yesterday and is still there today. Its ok as long as I dont put my right foot on the floor... I think its because my boobs have got so big you know?? You hear people that have had boob jobs saying about a bad back till they get used it dont you?? x

bellamysbride · 18/01/2011 19:23

Phew. DS is in bed and DP is out for the evening, so I am going to reeeelax with an M & S ready meal in the obligatory hoody. I have been wearing it all day and was by far the most underdressed at playgoup (I live in a real yummy mummy enclave)

Thanks for all the reassurance about the toddler/newborn combo. I too watched OBEM whilst DS was napping today and for the first time I felt really excited. The water birth lady was so composed and focussed.

PS Spilttheteaagain my naked pregnancy pictures where seen by the inlaws as they were browsing through newborn pictures. To be honest by that point I couldn't have given a hoot! and I did NOT look hot Grin...

Firawla · 18/01/2011 19:42

lol @ inlaws seeing naked pregnancy pics, omg!! wow, you're brave to not even care

mrs vidic i always think that about obem so many of them lying down on the bed on their back, and sometimes they dont even use the gas and air properly i always think no wonder its going to hurt so much lying on the bed still and not even using the g&a!! but i had my first on the bed with epidural and monitoring wasnt able to move around at all, 2nd was active birth and difference was huge i was actually amazed how much dif it makes!

not watched this weeks obem yet will watch this evening i think, should watch before dh comes home he always moans about it

selina welcome, nice to have a doula here in our thread

littlemisslozza · 18/01/2011 19:54

Pleased to hear lots of good news from people having scans Smile. My 12 week one is next Tuesday, counting down now. This is the first time I've waited until 12 weeks to get a scan as I've always had an early pregnancy problem before, like bleeding, so it's a bit weird not knowing if all is well. Hope so.

bella, I'll second not to worry too much about having a baby and a toddler. We have a 23 month gap between our two DS's and planned the same sort of gap again for DC3 as it has been great and don't want a big gap for the third one when the older two are so close. Tiring at times obviously and can take a while to get out of the house... but both of those go with having a newborn baby anyway!

DS1 was soooo lovely with DS2 when he arrived and still is, he gets lots of hugs and kisses. DS2 adores his big brother and whilst they have their moments (particularly when DS2 destroys whatever DS1 might be building) they are also playing together nicely more and more.

MrsChemist · 18/01/2011 20:24

I must admit, I've been worried about the gap and coping. EDD is 4 days before DS's second birthday. I'm also (PFB alert) extremely worried that DS will feel pushed out.

MrsVidic · 18/01/2011 20:36

the ice cream farm is in tattenhall cheshire. They have animals too and its all free!

littlemisslozza · 18/01/2011 20:49

I was worried about that too mrsvidic and he was fine. People were great and made a fuss of him, he also had quite a lot of little presents from them which was unexpected but nice. He had a few lovely days out with grandparents in the first couple of weeks and I had worried he might think he was being sent away...not at all - he loved being taken out 'for a treat'.

I did make an effort to say things like how 'baby' loved his big brother - which was actually true, it was like hero worship! DS2's main entertainment was watching his big brother.

It is hard not to worry though, I used to wonder how I would bath two and put two to bed (DH sometimes isn't back from work by then) but you just learn to and you find the best ways of doing things. The older one learns new skills all the time which makes it easier, e.g. using a step to get in the bath and climbing into the car seat were some things DS1 did at around 2, a godsend actually as I'd had a CS with DS2.

Ice cream farm sounds good, we'll have to have a trip there one day!

MonaPomona · 18/01/2011 21:23

MrsC I've also been worried about ds's nose being put out of joint - he's a very loving little boy and LOVES babies so hopefully will take to the new one ok. I've been fretting about managing 2 with the sleep deprivation as we've only just started to recover from 2.25 years of broken sleep with ds and I've been completely unable to entertain ds some weekends recently due to feeling so exhausted.

with all this talk of homebirths...is anyone planning a home birth...I had one with ds but dp is not keen to repeat the experience, he did not like the giving birth bit at all. TBH it wouldnt bother me if he was there or not cos my mw was so fab i just focussed on her and didnt notice if dp was there or not. I've been thinking about hiring a doula so it's fab to meet you Selina - because you never know which mw will turn up on the day and I may not have someone I have such a connection with the mw i get this time.

still cant bring myself to watch obem although i'm intrigued.

Firawla · 18/01/2011 21:53

i worried that about my first too when i had 2nd one but he hardly even noticed when i brought the baby home lol! he was only 17 months so still a baby himself really, but yeah the hero worship thing is so cute i have pics from when ds2 was so small staring @ his bro and you can see him thinking like "wow" he looks so impressed with his older bro, so lovely to see their relationship

just watched obem, they all coped really well on it this week compared to last week!

Ekka · 18/01/2011 21:55

Yes to hb. We've had nothing else, I'm watching OBEM in amazement really, so far away from my two experiences so far. Mind you I'm pragmatic as everything can change... The most important thing is a healthy mum and baby at the end of the process!!!!

nickstermum · 18/01/2011 22:03

the ice cream farm is awesome btw!! and the ice cream..well... just heaven x

MrsChemist · 18/01/2011 23:36

There is an ice cream farm near where my parents live. Oh my days they do the best ice cream I've ever tasted. It's not pasturised (I think) so not sure how suitable it would be for consumption during pregnancy. Is inpasturised ice cream off the menu?

Cadmum · 19/01/2011 02:42

Our ds2 was a lovely home birth. Ds1 was induced and so was dd2. There is NO comparison in my mind. Inductions felt full-on and out of my control. (dd1 was a nice full term birth center experience but home birth was still my favourite.)

SMummyS · 19/01/2011 07:46

What's everyone wearing at the moment ??

I'm growing out of my normal clothes but don't really want to but maternity stuff till after my scan, scared il tempt fate Hmm

LittleBeaut · 19/01/2011 09:06

SMummy I'm in leggings alot at the minute and the baggy tops I have with cardigans over trying to keep it all from hanging out through the week for work and its either leggings again or my joggers on a weekend... love my joggers!! I have however been and bought some bigger knickers as they were doing my head in rolling down and just not being where they should be Blush and they seem alot better but I do remember actually have some maternity ones in my last pregnancy that were brilliant so dont think it will be long before I go invest in some more.

KTisPG · 19/01/2011 09:09

I tried to have a homebirth with both my DC but ended up going into hospital - totally different experiences. I'm trying to decide whether to go for it again this time or to go to the MW-led unit. It sounds ridiculous but I'm worried I'll be inhibited by worrying if the neighbours can hear me. Someone please tell me I'm being stupid so that I can get on with plannning, what will be my last chance at a lovely home birth!

KTisPG · 19/01/2011 09:10

LOL LittleBeau I've been and bought bigger knickers too Grin

SMummyS · 19/01/2011 09:11

Thanks littlebeaut I can't really wear leggings for work which is annoying, I work on a construction site so need to be in trousers.

Ah only 23 more days of hiding it from work lol
