A new thread for all us friendly Dec ladies

We sit and we type,
And we stare at our screens;
We all have to wonder
What this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam,
Through the rooms in a maze;
Looking for something or someone,
As we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other;
We type all our woes;
Small groups we do form,
And gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody
To type out our name;
We want recognition,
But it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs,
And sometimes flirt;
In PMs (IMs) we chat deeply,
And reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships -
Yet why, we don't know;
But some of these friendships
Will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen,
We can be so bold?
Telling our secrets
That have never been told.
Why is it we share
The thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see,
As though we were blind?
The answer is simple;
It's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems
And need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people,
But tell someone we must;
So we turn to the computer,
And to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy,
The truth still remains:
There are Friends Without Faces,
With odd little names.

Nemo666 · 06/10/2005 17:09

Lots of talk and then nothing...lol

Cracking bleeding nipples...had them with adam and it carried on even with nipple shields and that kamisollian cream..sigh. I had to give up in the end as it was too painful but then I am of the larger breasted lady..lol I dont think I will be trying again this time as unsure if meds are suitable with bf.

Adam has been narky today no idea if he is ill or just in a mood...dh moaning about manflu and i have a headcold so not a happy household.

ei23monster · 06/10/2005 17:15

hey girls!
i had my m/w appt this morn and she said everythin is fine my bumps measurin 1cm bigger than my dates so she was happy! i havent measured my waistline properly so i may be tempted to try later on!
scully, did you ask about the under-cot storage drawers?? if so the argos does packs of two with wheels on for about £20ish so maybe try there!
hows everyone been today?
ninah, im glad your feeling better about things its nice to see you happy iykwim!

ninah · 06/10/2005 17:29

busy day, just off now
Looks quiet on here you busy too? hope the nemo household feel better soon, there are horrible coughs/colds around at the mo
NO more talk of cracking nipples tomorrow OK?! lol

bonkerz · 06/10/2005 17:47

Have been to midwife and bump is measuring........2.5cm bigger than my dates! Midwife said that i shouldnt be too alarmed but she reckons ALEX will be big and that all helps my case for a c section!
Got my ball and now cant find the pump!! AHHH
Also managed to get co codamol for pain in hips. Doctor said it could be sciatica but see how i go on pain releif for a few weeks! Midwife wants me back in 3 weeks to see how baby is and also to maybe get me a support belt depending on how things go!
Feel much better for having afternoon off and have decided to book lots of half days tomorrow so i will have less to work etc and be happier and less tired! Well thats the theory!

Now im off to find that blasted pump!!

bigscaryeyes · 06/10/2005 18:38

Hi guys, having a funny old day today. My MW appt went fine (my 'SPD' apprently is most likely ligaments) but when I got back I felt really weepy and can't seem to muster any energy or get my brain to work. Having been off the last two days I really must go back tomorrow (I'm scared they are going to make me take earlier maternity leave - which apparently they can do from 28wks - I'm going in two weeks anyway.) I'm completely flat . DH gave me a cuddle and said to bluff way thru and try to enjoy my last few days as I might miss it when I leave AS IF. MW should really have counter hormone injections that work like magic - well i suppose I'll set my reminders on the tv for all the soaps.

If anyone gets the torch thing to work please let me know. And I can't contemplate the cracked nipple thing - I'll tuck that one away for later girls .

george32 · 06/10/2005 19:01

Ninah, glad to see you so positive. Completely agree with no more cracked nipple talk - far too scary to think about that. Please someone, mention something good that comes out of this pregnancy lark!

Long, long day today & tubes were manic. Lovely guy asked me if I wanted him to help me by creating me some space once we got on a train. Fortuntely a nice lady gave me her seat straight away. Nice to meet some kind people

GTT test tomorrow so have to go & eat the house before my 9.30pm cut off for food (will they notice if I have a sneaky biccy in the morning?

dramaqueen72 · 06/10/2005 19:04

well glad all babies are doing well at appointments. bonkerz, take it easy! you always sounds sooooo manic and busy!!
bigyeyes- dont worry absolutely normal sounding pg hormone day. abit flat abit 'blurgh' abit cant do anything. yep, had them, having them., expecting more! take it easy on yourself and tomorrow will be another day. hope you can manage work , get it all over and do indeed as dh said; bluster thro. hang in there!

dramaqueen72 · 06/10/2005 19:08

george, the baby is the good thing, what happens to our bodies is FAR too scary to write in books, so everyone skips that bit. expect other mummies!!!LOL
the moment of shock after giving birth for the first time and seeing my belly look like a plate of jelly, lopsided jelly at that, was the biggest shock ever for me then. ho ho ho, I thought it would 'spring bakc' of something.... and the mess, and the bleeding, and the after pains...............LOL! have i scared you yet?!! but it is of course really worth it, or you wouldnt get 2nd/3rd/4th time mums would you? or maybe we are gluttons for punishment? I havent quite worked it out yet!..

Nemo666 · 06/10/2005 19:27

lol dq i remember that empty tum feeling straight after and the way it sounds really hollow when its empty..i spent 3 days patting my tum because it felt so odd..lol

dramaqueen72 · 06/10/2005 19:32

oooooooooooooh yes, we mummies already could really scare you if we wanted...LOL! but we wont, cause we love you.

dramaqueen72 · 06/10/2005 19:39

to make you smile; cute things dd2 says - todays was........
I picked up her doll she had left on the floor and put it in th toybox. she saw me do this and clapped her hands 'oh good girl mummy! well done for tidying up'
bless.

ebbie22 · 06/10/2005 19:41

I cant believe it.....I measuredmy bump too in cm,and was going to tell everyone NOT to do it,but then i came on here and found out that most of you already have...How weird is that?
Boots do agrt nipple spray[or used too[it is brillent,much better than any cream i used,also rub a bit of the milk into the nipple after feeding,always did the trick for me with dd....
Also,did the torch thing with dd and it does work,cant find a bloody torch at the mo,but know already that this one isnt as active as dd was....
How are you ladies....pls can i have the peanut recipe,havent checked my emails yet.......

Congratulations on peoples midwifes appointmntsxxx

bigscaryeyes · 06/10/2005 19:50

Thank you v much DQ. I'm going to make sure I get up early and paint my face etc and we normally go for pizza for lunch on fridays. I suppose I try to imagine goin thru stuff and hearing how jolly you are re your afterbirth tummies etc makes me I guess in a way I'm looking forward to going thru it all myself even on the crappy days like this one. I'm really glad I joined up and found this club. Thanks

bigscaryeyes · 06/10/2005 19:54

ebbie - I'm glad the torch thing works, I'll keep trying. Are you allowed to eat peanuts - i thought it wasn't safe because of the risk of peanut allergies to baby?

ebbie22 · 06/10/2005 19:59

For first timers,i think add more cation,but dd isnt allegic,and though i didnt have any with dd,i couldnt fight it this time.....

bonkerz · 06/10/2005 20:31

AM PAIN FREE!!! I cant believe it. I took two co-codamol at 8pm and have no pain now! Am hoping to get some sleep in before it starts hurting again!
Dh is shocked at baby measuring so big and is now panicing about her being early cos beginning of december is busy at work etc and he really wanted xmas and new year off!!
Found the pump and have been sat on my ball! Its great!!
Have decided to only take pills when pain gets really bad and then that way i wont feel guilty although doctor says they are safe in pregnancy and wont harm baby at all!!

dramaqueen72 · 06/10/2005 22:26

glad to hear it bonkerz. have got to say cant take those tablets myself ,they really knock me out!!! hope you sleep well tonight for a change.

Nemo666 · 06/10/2005 22:29

dramaqueen72 · 06/10/2005 22:38

just to save me emailing fifty of you, or missing anyone out, heres my 'other' brownie recipe. sorry for being off topic slightly...........

180g butter chopped
150g dark (yes has to be) eating choc, chopped
385g caster sugar (yes that's a lot?..)
4 eggs beaten lightly
1 tsp vanilla essence
110g plain flour
2 tbsp SR flour
35g cocoa powder

Extra 50g dark choc chopped
Several spoonfuls crunchy peanut butter

Preheat oven to 160.
Grease suitable tin,

Melt butter and main amount of choc in saucepan, stir over light heat, without boiling, until mixture is smooth, cool slightly.
Stir in sugar, eggs, essence and then sifted flours, cocoa and extra choc.

Pour mixture into tin, either drop small quarter spoonfuls of peanut butter randomly across mixture or heat peanut butter slightly to make it runnier and swirl through brownie mix.
Bake for about 30-50 mins, until fairly firm but not overdone around edges.
Leave to cool in tin.
Cut into small squares and...um.. Eat!

hope nobody minds it being here.

dramaqueen72 · 06/10/2005 22:39

sweetheart · 07/10/2005 09:20

Morning all - I'm feeling totally knackered today. I ventured out to the pub last night (intending to stay for 1, maybe 2 drinks) I ended up staying all night so I'm gonna pay for it today. Trouble is, I'm going out tonight too. Ninah - it's that bloody "pampered chef" thing (Gggrrrr)

My mw phoned last night to say the antenatal classes for November have been cancelled but there is one today if I want to go along. So I'm off to that this morning. How wierd I can't believe it's time for that already!!!

Great to hear all appointments are going well. I'm looking forward to my scan next week - I want to see how much the baby weighs so I can figure out what size baby I'll be pushing out (Ouch)

Bonkerz - it's great to hear you were pain free. Did you get some sleep - glad the ball helped
