A new thread for all us friendly Dec ladies

We sit and we type,
And we stare at our screens;
We all have to wonder
What this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam,
Through the rooms in a maze;
Looking for something or someone,
As we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other;
We type all our woes;
Small groups we do form,
And gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody
To type out our name;
We want recognition,
But it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs,
And sometimes flirt;
In PMs (IMs) we chat deeply,
And reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships -
Yet why, we don't know;
But some of these friendships
Will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen,
We can be so bold?
Telling our secrets
That have never been told.
Why is it we share
The thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see,
As though we were blind?
The answer is simple;
It's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems
And need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people,
But tell someone we must;
So we turn to the computer,
And to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy,
The truth still remains:
There are Friends Without Faces,
With odd little names.

Hello! Just a quick message to reassure George, DQ and anyone else who was having a discussion about missing / lurking MTB, I'm still around and still reading the thread, I'm just in a very busy period (DD not slept through for 5 weeks, exam next week, still working full time, company in takeover situation, DH applying for new job etc. etc.) I'm waiting for everything to calm down...with so much revision to do I can't justify being on here much!

All is going well though, baby doing fine and although tired I am too. Last day at work 4th Nov so just over 4 weeks to go - I can't wait...

So don't forget about me - I feel I know you after reading all your posts and hope to be able to join in more in due course....

dramaqueen72 · 05/10/2005 14:26

babygibbon! hey how are you. glad to hear youre alive and well still! good luck with exam and hope you can cme back more often soon!

sweetheart · 05/10/2005 14:45

bonkerz - I'll get you a link for a birth ball....

DQ - I'm so pleased you had a great mw appt. Do you feel your spirits have lifted a bit today? I hope you feel very reasurred by the advice and information she gave you

Babygibbon, good luck for your exams, it's lovely to see you post.

I've just had a BRILLIANT lunch hour. I went into Boots with all my "parenting club" vouchers and I got about £50 worth of stuff for £8!!!!!!! I got BAGS FULL!!!!!!

I've also just been and brought all the travel mini's (shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste etc etc etc) to put into my hospital bag.

Ohhhhhh, how exciting

£3.99 gym ball from Argos

Just as good as a birthing ball that costs loads more!!! Apparently if your tall you need a bigger one though. I think it was taller than 5Ft 7 but I might be wrong - there's a thread about it somewhere!!!!

OP posts:
sweetheart · 05/10/2005 14:52

found it here

Apparently if you are under 5' 7" a 65cm ball - like the one in the link - will do. If your over 5' 7" you need a 75cm ball which are harder to come by - well, more expensive anyway!!

bigscaryeyes · 05/10/2005 16:38

DQ you sound as if your buzzin from MW appt - great news for you!

SH its exciting getting stuff for Labour bag I think I will buy some bits at wkend. I'm joining boots paretn club aswell sounds like a good deal do you do it online or in shop?

sweetheart · 05/10/2005 16:45

I filled in a leaflet that I picked up from the store. You have to do the shopping in the store - the vouchers are not valid online. I got:-

Brought some newborn huggies - got £1.50 off them and now get triple points whenever I buy any Huggies stuff - plus it came with a starter pack which included a changing bag with mat - some shampoo, breast pads.

I got a free Avent gift pack which included a dummy, a milk or food storage thing, a 4oz bottle a spoon, samples of all their creams and stuff.

I got some Johnsons softwash which was BOGOF and I got £2 off so it cost me about £1.50

Some free body butter stuff - and something free from their No7 range (I choose a lip balm thing but you can choose anything upto £16.50)

I've got more vouchers too for money off stuff and extra points. Some of the vouchers didn't scan but the woman was very friendly and made sure I got everything I should have free.

I'd really recommend joining - it's free - and I think they send you vouchers every month.

yea I am buzzin form sucha positive appointment, she gave advice on everything i asked, no 'hmm-ing' or questioning me back, and i am THRILLED about my home birth. now its more than an idea i realise i've made very much the right choice as I'm so delighted with all the 'pros' of having one. she told me all I would need, is putting some info in the post for me, advised me on good pools to hire, told me all about how they do the medical checks that are normally done before discharging you in hospital after birth, and even said they bring me bounty bags -LOL basicaly I sit here and they do everything else!
booked hair appointment, not til next week but dh is paying (fabulous) and got some baking done. good day today. I know i'm up and down but its so nice to be up currently!

dramaqueen72 I had a homebirth with no. 1 and have another one planned with this pregnancy

george32 · 05/10/2005 18:54

Argh!!!
I've been trying to catch up all day & every time I have gone to start typing I've been interrupted. Going to have to re-read everything now to try to make some sense of today!

DQ, thanks for the recipes. Going to try them out on the family the first chance I get

Right, time to start reading........

george32 · 05/10/2005 19:13

Read through & now forgotten what everyone said!
Yellowbear & Babygibbon - hello out there!! Glad to see you are still around. No excuses to not post once your maternity leave starts.

DQ, your m/w today sounds lovely. She really seems to have done you the world of good. Great news about the home birth and the fact that we are all supposed to be moody mares by now!!

Going to have to look up these free things. Haven't collected any of the freebiees yet (eg, bounty stuff) as I keep forgetting. Keep nudging me if there is something good until I get down the shops & get it.

Bonkerz, I'm sorry you are in so much pain. I hope you see your GP or m/w tomorrow to try to get something to help, it sounds dreadful.

Totally exhausted still here although I actually cheered this morning when I woke at 2.30 rather than 1.30. When is it that I get some sleep again???

dramaqueen72 · 05/10/2005 20:14

er..george, next lot of decent sleep?????
.....when the baby starts sleeping thro the night which could be.......well dont want to scare you but dd2 was OVER ONE, well over one. before she did. so ..um, welcome to my world of late night internet, mmilky drinks and feeling like you are the only person awake in the world.

dramaqueen72 · 05/10/2005 20:17

oh and george........hope recipes made sense I dont write them down alot so theya re kinda 'throw some of that in, mix in some of that...' and scare the pants off very organised 'measuring' type people
would you like the brownie one? or are you only savoury recipe girl>?

nemo, did my boots vouchers online, I think anyhow, its was awhile ago,..but did get email from them saying they were being processed and should be here soon. not quite soon of how soon is soon tho

floops · 05/10/2005 20:44

Hi, everyone. How do you all find time to post so regularly? My mat leave starts in 5wks so hopefully I'll have more time then. It takes me ages to read all your messages - they are a good read.

I'm off to register with boots next. Sounds great!

Finally getting some moans re:pregnancy. Almost passed out at work twice this week. Not that I want them but I thought I was getting off too lightly! 11wks to go! Well hopefully - I don't want it to get to 13wks!

Getting really excited now. Packed my hospital bag and wanting to get cot etc. out of the loft!

Worrying myself with my organisation - have even done half my xmas shopping in case I'm caught up in the delivery suite! A little too prepared - even for me!!!

sweetheart · 05/10/2005 20:52

Don't panic everyone - the boots vouchers do take ages to come through - I think they must wait until you get to a certain date before sending them out. I think I posted my form after we'd been for our scan in London which was at 16 weeks. I'm 31 now so it's taken a good 14/15 weeks for mine to arrive.

I sent off for the Emma's diary stuff too but never heard anything from that - has anyone else? My SIL says she sent it off to and she's heard nothing either - bit late now as she's had her baby!
