A new thread for all us friendly Dec ladies

We sit and we type,
And we stare at our screens;
We all have to wonder
What this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam,
Through the rooms in a maze;
Looking for something or someone,
As we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other;
We type all our woes;
Small groups we do form,
And gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody
To type out our name;
We want recognition,
But it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs,
And sometimes flirt;
In PMs (IMs) we chat deeply,
And reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships -
Yet why, we don't know;
But some of these friendships
Will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen,
We can be so bold?
Telling our secrets
That have never been told.
Why is it we share
The thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see,
As though we were blind?
The answer is simple;
It's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems
And need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people,
But tell someone we must;
So we turn to the computer,
And to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy,
The truth still remains:
There are Friends Without Faces,
With odd little names.

GOOD Luck! let us know
I emailed you xx

kangel · 13/10/2005 12:01

Yes good luck SH!!! And enjoy!!

My maternity cover has just handed her notice in!

dramaqueen72 · 13/10/2005 12:07

GOOD LUCK s/h! hope 'hes' doing fine in there!!!!

kangel, firstly am shocked your classes dotn cover breathing techniques.........I know they sound abit 'hippy' and weird, but they are SO helpful and I did all my children on just that. altho that can sounds very heroic, its not, I'm actually THAT much of a wuss I dont take any drugs because of side effects on me!!LOL i hate feeling 'out of control' or sick, and the ony time i tried gas and air it made me feel like that. so i huff and puff my way thro, stopping to say occassionally I CANT DO THIS! or MAKE IT STOP! or any other helpful comments the midwives have heard a billion times before!
I'm a wimp and I am here a FOURTH time, so really tho it hurts like buggery, its not a never ending thing, it DOES stop and theres this bundle of tiny baby that really truely makes you not care in the slightest what you just had to do! if you want to get in a bath, get in one, if you want lots of pain relief have it, who cares? like ninah said, its no competition here. we want healthy happy babies at the end thats all.
I can go for ages about this, and tell me all my (not very good but you never know) coping techniques if you want. you can do it, and you will too. you'll be fine. but also you are very normal to worry about it now too. just have alittle faith

dramaqueen72 · 13/10/2005 12:08

duh! tell YOU obviously!

dramaqueen72 · 13/10/2005 12:12

scully have you been to that online baby name wizzard? its very clever and helpful and i will try and find a link.........(but not very quick at links....)
we are 100% on a girl's name, and about 70% on our boys........sigh. so kinda hoping its actually a girl because of that!! intend not to ask but peer VERY closely at next weeks scan. (dh v anti knowing sex........)
who else has scans coming up? i am wondering after mine if they are all over for us? then we should start another thread!!
george? youre MIA today!

kangel · 13/10/2005 12:12

Thanks DQ, I think I went into MAJOR panic mode, I have to keep telling myself I can do this, everyone else does so why wouldn't I!!

They just went through the panting bit at the end but say we know how to breath so don't need to be taught! We have another session next week on labour, will see how brave i'm feeling as to whether I go to it.

I can't believe you don't even have gas and air OMG!!

ninah · 13/10/2005 12:21

what's MIA? oh yes missing in action? is she?
GEORGE????!!!!!
Yes, do a link when you can dq, I'm rubbish at links too so don't worry if it takes a while, I'm really stuck on names and tho I don't have any more scans due I am so desperate to find out sex - I am almost considering splashing out money I can ill afford
Always liked Celia for a girl, p not keen but the way things are so what!

dramaqueen72 · 13/10/2005 12:25

go kick your teacher for me and find some new classes!!! breathing in and out is not something we need to be taught, but relaxtion breathing is!!!! duh! goodness i would be so cross if I could meet your class teacher, fancy scaring the pants off first time mums and then saying breathing isnt needed anymore!!!! are these by your hospital?????????????FFS! my hospital actually run seperate/extra breathing classes as they think they are so important.
for what its worth, hyperventilating- which is what you will do unless shown otherwise-
causes you to panic, and releases the wrong hormones into your blood stream. deep breathing, relaxtion breathing, releases the endorphins (sp?) that make you relax and 'ride the storm' and feels so different. wish starry was still on here, she would tell you it properly as she is a nice birth classs teacher!!!
you have to go with the flow, really, your body will 'take over' and tell you what to do to feel most comfy etc. you just have to have faith it will be the right thing! I panic, i often lose my breathing and suddenly panic, and dh is fabulous, he makes me look into his eyes and breathes with me and get me back on track with the deep breathing. and yes, he says he feels abit silly afterwards but at the time its not what you are worrying about!!

dramaqueen72 · 13/10/2005 12:27

Ninah, my best friend recently called her baby girl cecelia its very sweet! and who gives a monkeys on what your p thought???????? infact what name did he really not like???

dramaqueen72 · 13/10/2005 12:30

babynamewizzardhere

dramaqueen72 · 13/10/2005 12:30

omg! it worked!

ninah · 13/10/2005 12:39

how d'you mean it worked, did it give you a fab name? I'm going to try
are you going to tell?!

ninah · 13/10/2005 12:40

dur, you mean the LINK worked, don't you! thought you had come up with THE magic name!

dramaqueen72 · 13/10/2005 13:00

LOL ninah.
so far we have settled on
Daisy grace for a girl
and are 'sort of' down to
Noah
or
Finnegan
for a boy (whos middle name would be daniel after dh)
but ! i also like -these are all boys, or think i like (am v fickle!)
seth, sebastian, billy, oscar, dylan, devin, hugh, edward, emmett, gene, isaac,rory, jefferson, jonah, william, hayden...........and so it goes on.............
S I G H..............

ninah · 13/10/2005 13:09

OOOH I love these dq.
Daisy is very sweet. Good choice
For the boy I like Finnegan, you know he would be called Finn but that's OK. Daniel also v nice.
I would worry that Oscar, and poss Dylan, is the new Oliver (eg b popular in a few years) there are a couple of little Oscars in ds nursery already. and Jonah makes me think of someone being a Jonah, you know. Not keen on Emmett (wasn't he the neighbour from Keeping Up Appearances?). But love the rest.
Oh god now you're going to say it's Emmett

kangel · 13/10/2005 13:17

DQ - Thanks am going to look more into this breathing technique stuff as it sounds like its really important!

If ours is a boy it will be a Dylan but only because DP is MAD on Bob Dylan!!!! ZZzzzzzz Luckily I like the name though. For a girl it will be Tia, we just have to figure out middle names now.

I liked Grace too.

ninah · 13/10/2005 13:20

Tia Grace is nice
Not Maria tho ...
The sort of name p would object to most would be something like Capricorn Moodcloud dq

kangel · 13/10/2005 13:21

Lol Ninah!! I did think of Tia Marie instead of Maria but thats just cruel! or Tia Leigh

ninah · 13/10/2005 13:25

I think it's better without the rhyme to it, personally. Just my thoughts, tho.
I have a friend called Maria, Tia is Greek for aunt so she is ds's Tia Maria!

ninah · 13/10/2005 13:26

I mean, she is a Greek friend, obviously.

kangel · 13/10/2005 13:34

I always knew I wanted a Tia and DP always wanted a Dylan but as for middle names we are really stuck??????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I quite like Rhys too (not sure how its spelt though!)

sweetheart · 13/10/2005 13:42

God you lot can chat!

Well, scan went well

Baby is currently weighing 4Ib 2Oz so we should be getting a baby thats between 8 - 8.5Ibs (dd was 8Ib 1Oz)

Placenta has moved so no more of the dreaded scans for me - unless I go overdue.

Also, I saw it with my own eyes - we are DEF having a Boy!!!

I just looked up the name we intend to use on that baby names thing and it actually had dd's name as a suggestion for sisters names

So all in all, I'm now having a pretty perfect day

OP posts:
ninah · 13/10/2005 13:45

ooooh. good. good. good. !!!

kangel · 13/10/2005 13:46

Congratulations on your DEF baby boy!!!
You must be feeling really relieved now.

My bump weights about 3.9 and they say will be about 7lbs when born unless it suddenly pigs out.
