A new thread for all us friendly Dec ladies

We sit and we type,
And we stare at our screens;
We all have to wonder
What this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam,
Through the rooms in a maze;
Looking for something or someone,
As we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other;
We type all our woes;
Small groups we do form,
And gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody
To type out our name;
We want recognition,
But it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs,
And sometimes flirt;
In PMs (IMs) we chat deeply,
And reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships -
Yet why, we don't know;
But some of these friendships
Will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen,
We can be so bold?
Telling our secrets
That have never been told.
Why is it we share
The thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see,
As though we were blind?
The answer is simple;
It's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems
And need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people,
But tell someone we must;
So we turn to the computer,
And to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy,
The truth still remains:
There are Friends Without Faces,
With odd little names.

no, jonah is not at the top of my list, its just a 'type' of name I like,iykwim.yes like the way finnegan give him a couple of options to use as his naem, as he grows up.
dh is really into finnegan, and I'm slightly more so into Noah. altho we did pick it several children ago, and wonder if we have become 'bored' of it you know? but it fits well with our children, something ELSE we have to take into account! ( I have a Kalon -called kal- Georgia and Mollie right now )
Reuben is suddenly EVERYWHERE here, so I missed it out my list, tho its nice. i dont want my children to be one of twenty with that name in their class!
make sure you look up the name meaning in a few places..........abit of a shock to discover it means 'loved child' in one book but then 'berk' in another!!

dramaqueen72 · 13/10/2005 13:49

oh crossed posts with you there!
CONGRATULATIONS s/h! how very exciting.
how adorable. so pleased it was a great scan.
so what you calling him? we wont tell anyone..........

ninah · 13/10/2005 13:56

great taste dq
I'm still thinking Georgia for girl, will wait til I see what s/he looks like
OMG friend has just had a Reuben, we thought it was 'really unusual' no wonder!

scully · 13/10/2005 14:00

I shall try that link, thx dq. So far our short list is Daniel, Joshua, Jacob, Finn, Jack, Abigail, Grace, Michaela and Madeline.
Daniel and Grace are more middle names, dh likes Joshua a lot more than me and I like Jacob a lot more than him. We both like Abby, but not sure about Abigail.....
Problem is we like these names but none really jump out yet. Oh well, this one will leave the hospital un-named like dd did, I suppose
Our antenatal teacher mentioned last week that she will try to get someone she knows to come along to talk about hypnobirthing at the end of one of our classes - the fact she even suggested it impressed me and I am curious to hear more about it. Have previously looked into some cd's but couldn't really afford them. Anyone know anyone who's used anything like this before?

sweetheart · 13/10/2005 14:10

Well......we have picked out Lucas - although I'd probably spell it Lucus!?!?!?! Haven't decided yet.

Although I'm a bit like you DQ - it's a name we picked ages ago and now I'm a tiny bit unsure - dh still loves it though! The baby will also have dh's name as his middle name.

Oh and my SIL just called her new baby boy Jonah!

OP posts:
scully · 13/10/2005 14:11

Great news sh, congrats! We have another scan on 23/11 , to see what position the baby is in. I remember last time I had a scan at 37wks, I couldn't see anything distinguishable, it was just too big by then.
Reuben reminds me of the guy that won one series of American Pop Idol - did anyone else watch it?

scully · 13/10/2005 14:13

dd has her dad's name as her 2nd name - sounds odd, but isn't really! so can't give that to a boy if we have one!

dramaqueen72 · 13/10/2005 14:26

lucas/lucus -v nice name! would be slightly wary of spelling it differently tho, we have a mollie and she gets a billion things with molly on seeing as actually the oldest version of that name is with IE.......but we are doomed to a life time of spelling it for people.

my bump/baby had done something very odd.
the other night, not last night the one before, dh knocked over a huge pile of stuff whilst staggering half asleep to bathroom in the middle of the night. it made a huge crash and I literally leapt out of bed, it made the bump really jump too (yes i shouted at dh!!) and for 24hrs after it hurt across my bump -like the baby had jumped and was sideways/diagonal instead of head up or down? now today its 'moved' again, but honestly feels really low, and with pressure right down low, -frankly, like it may fall out at any minute. really strange uncomfy feeling
woah its abit early to drop and engage isnt it? esp as with second/third/fourth babies they often dont do that til actual labour (dd2 didnt) so trying to be rational but nagging worry of baby due early or something now. someone do their midwife impression and tell me thats not happening!!!

sweetheart · 13/10/2005 14:32

yeah - having seen it written down I think we'll stick with Lucas!

DQ, perhaps the head has started to engage or perhaps when the baby moved he headbutted your pubic bone - I bet that would hurt!

If your really worried phone your mw. I'm chickening out of being the one to say don't worry coz then you'd probably go into labour on me!

Not keeping up today as I'm back in the office & actually doing a bit of work!!
Might have a bit more time this afternoon hopefully

DQ, it sounds like a good reason to put your feet up & do nothing for a while, just to be on the safe side. I think some medicinal choccy is in order too.
I guess a trip or a call to the midwife might be in order too. You might have pulled a muscle in your tummy by moving too quickly.

Everyone has such good taste in names. We just can't get many we agree on - it's so tricky.

SH, looks like I'm well out with my guess of a teeny little girl for you!!
Based on that guess I think everyone should presume they are having exactly the opposite of what I guess!

Kangel, I'm with you on being scared. DP asked me what in particlar this morning & found it hard to accept I'm terrified about the whole thing now. I've got some NCT classes starting in Nov so I'll let you know if they offer any useful tips as to how not to stress & panic!

Nemo666 · 13/10/2005 14:50

Sh glad all went well with your baby boy

Well we have been busy we have been and picked the couches we want and they will be delivered end of nov as my mum is ordering them now...she has also told us to go and see if we can pick a carpet up cheaply I dont know what has come over her but hey I am not complaining...lol

Also may be able to make the meet as have been told that I am getting maternity grant so if I put some of the money away for nov should be able to come. Does anyone know how much the meal should be about????

Nemo666 · 13/10/2005 15:13

mmm how do I always manage to kill the thread?????????????

sweetheart · 13/10/2005 15:14

God I am SO BORED!!!!!

OP posts:
Nemo666 · 13/10/2005 15:15

SH me too trying to decide whether to snooze on couch while adam is asleep or carry on staring at screen or to try and put some baby clothes away.

sweetheart · 13/10/2005 15:16

OK - here's a project for someone to help me with......

I want to get dd a prezzie from the baby when he's born. BUT, she already has a ton of babies so getting her a doll to mimic me is out, plus I'd like it to be something quite special BUT also - bearing in mind it will be right before xmas - nothing too expensive!

Any ideas?

OP posts:
sweetheart · 13/10/2005 15:17

Nemo - as much as I'd love you to stay here and chat you should really try and have a snooze - get all the rest you can!

OP posts:
Nemo666 · 13/10/2005 15:37

sweetheart · 13/10/2005 15:55

WOW - how lucky Nemo - quick, pick an expensive one whilst shes in a good mood

OP posts:
george32 · 13/10/2005 15:57

What about a silver bangle SH or some kind of jewellery. Something she can keep anyway.

OMG , just checked expectnet & everyone thinks I'm having a HUGE baby!!
Is the average 7lb? I only have 1 guess below that!!! (thanks Ei! )
I think I have to stop eating crap or at least tell people that I'm eating healthily!!

george32 · 13/10/2005 16:51

LOL!
I'm away most of the day, finally post & everyone disappears!!
Only 1 day at work to go for me .............................

ninah · 13/10/2005 16:53

george32 · 13/10/2005 16:58

Zauberfee · 13/10/2005 17:11

Hey, has anyone been to the Baby Show before? Is it worth going? We live in Dorset and it would be quite a trip but maybe it'll be worth it?!

Nemo666 · 13/10/2005 17:35
