preg brain wont allow me to remember who said what but im glad the sleep thing is working, how weird is that?I was awake early but had a good nighty and not as many wees, its really helping me thru the last few days, yes days its 9 sleeps till Ivy or Dellilah puts in an appearance i am so excited.
wigglescant believe you are still sicking, how awfull, glad its not stopping your enjoyment of chocolate tho.I have been really "periody" today and loads of back ache,if you look at the start of labour check list in the bounty book i have them all, fingers crossed she doesnt come tho and spoil dd birthday.
Reflexology is good, anyone on here hoping for a vbac, they wont induce you but reflexology set me off but they will only do it at term.
I am having my hair done tmw and then a pedicure on Friday why not eh?I told dh hes paying for it cos its his pg too.

40Weeks · 18/01/2011 21:03

Sounds good ledkr, but my sis had a Peru before her c section and they took all her nail polish off! Not sure if that's just our hospital but beware the nurse with the cotton wool balls! Cant remember if it was cos nail polish isn't sterile or if they need to see the colour of your nail in case it tinges.

40Weeks · 18/01/2011 21:04

A pedi not a Peru!

tadjennyp · 18/01/2011 21:07

Yes, I've heard that too and dh is supposed to be booking me a pedicure this week. Not due for a CS, but would upset me if they took off my nail polish as I've never had it done before.

PDR · 18/01/2011 21:09

I didn't refresh my screen 40 and was wondering what a Peru was Grin I am also having a Peru tomorrow (sounds like an exotic wax job?!) but going to go for clear polish as I is a boring cow! I figure if the reflexologist is going to be messing with my feet they better look good!

knittakid · 18/01/2011 21:30

EauR the ice thing is to get an ice cube and hold it tightly with one hand for a minute. You do this twice, first not concentrating deliberately on any copping techniques, at the end you see what you naturally did. The second time you concentrate on breathing and counting during each breath, and then compare the sensation. I used different hands, thinking that one could have got used to the cold...
In my class some people found the first time easier as everybody was talking and joking, I found the second time much easier, almost even forgetting I had an ice cube in my hand at all! very very effective!

very jealous of all of you having pamperings...

ledkr · 18/01/2011 21:40

cheers for tip 40 i will check it out, before waste my money. With dd1 it was an emergency,i had make up and all on,they asked a student to shave me and she started to shave me all over so i told her it was just the bit on the scar she had to do but she carried on,it was agony she didnt use foam or anything and i was rolling about on the bed crying. The mw came in and was shocked and told her off. When dd was born i was so shocked it was a girl the mw showed me her bits,i said "oh they look like mine do now"
Will be doing my own next week.
I thought a peru was like a brazillian or hollywood Grin

tadjennyp · 18/01/2011 21:55

What's a Hollywood? [naive emoticon as can't really see down there anyway!]

40Weeks · 18/01/2011 22:36

THe whole kit and kaboodle, tad!

Oneof4 · 18/01/2011 22:58

PDR, I've been having reflexology for a few weeks and it's brilliant - so relaxing and calming and I come out feeling like I can cope with anything. I've already booked a session for a few days before I'm due to help things along, if I get that far!

If one more person tells me how much they LOVED being pregnant I think I'm going to cry. ... It's so lovely to come home from a long day at work, catch up on what everyone's been up to and feel like I'm normal. Thank heavens for this thread!

tadjennyp · 19/01/2011 00:01

That just made me wince 40. Shock

janedoe25 · 19/01/2011 07:25

had such a fright last night as i hadn't felt baby move yesterday! phoned the labour ward they told me to have a cold sweet drink to see if shocked baby into moving. (i had already but thought i would have one more and give it 10 mins before i went to hospital. Lo and behold my girl began her all night dance party! I was so relieved. I was so stressed with work yesterday that i probs didnt pay any attention to her movements! Cant wait to start maternity leave on 4 th feb...........

snowangels1 · 19/01/2011 09:02

janedoe what a relief .

PDR I've had reflexology throughout pg and pre pg too and has really helped me. When I had high bp it helped and think it helped my high blood sugar levels too, and tis v relaxing. Only thing you might want to check is when I had high bp my relfexologist wouldn't do it without my mw saying it was safe - apparently reflexology can increase bp temporarily after a treatment. Would be a shame to turn up to an appointment and be told you couldn't have it because of that. My mw said without hesitation it would be fine :)

Slept quite well and deeply last night for once :) but not nearly long enough as had to get up and out of bedroom to greet plasterer to redo the broken ceiling Confused .

Mw today and hoping she might sneak me in a last minute scan due to my late GD diagnosis.

Must be time for another baby now Grin

ledkr · 19/01/2011 09:09

Hi all,i thought thread veterans you would like an annoying colleague update Grin
Apparently she is still taking the utmost piss and coming in late/leaving early/doing sod all,she is currently closing cases ready for mat leave-which she starts in MARCH wtf? What is she going to do till march, she said she goes home and just lies down cos shes too tired to do anything! So glad im not there esp as my boss seemed to think my pg didnt count and gave me tough cases and was a stickler for me doing my hrs till the bitter end Angry
Imagine when we are back at work, ill have 2 to get sorted before i get in and she will have one and be taking the mick, wont be having it im afraid!!!
Hope you are all well.Had loads of bh last night when in bed i think its just a pattern.
Looks like i may make dds birthday after all.one week tomorrow scared emoticon

ledkr · 19/01/2011 09:11

one wk till baby not birthday

smallblackflowers · 19/01/2011 09:29

ledkr glad to hear that your nightmare colleague is still up to her old tricks Grin
1 week to go too...it is scary isn't it. Was sat feeding DD my breakfast this morning, with her on my lap (as she didn't want hers or to sit in her highchair), and was thinking how the hell am I going to be able to do this in a couple of weeks time when I've got a crying baby to contend with too....

angels glad to hear that you got some quality sleep last night, and that your ceiling is being sorted out!

I want reflexology now! I think there is a place that may do it in my little town centre, so may go and scope them out later today. Also want my hair doing (not had it done since September) and my eyelashes tinting again before the big day. Best get my ass in gear!
Am waiting in today for a delivery of a radiator for my bathroom and for the carpet people to come and measure up my stairs and landing to fit a new carpet next week. Am surrounded by piles of donated baby boy clothes that desperately need sorting too. And the cat was sick on the landing again last night. What an exciting day I have in store....Grin

snowangels1 · 19/01/2011 09:40

erk sbf what is wrong with your cat?! sounds very icky to deal with all the time. Good luck with the carpets etc. My friend was having carpets installed when she went into labour Wink .

ledkr good to hear annoying collegue update and that she's still creating havoc. Suprised your boss is still managing to cope with her after how strict they were with you. Not long to keep holding on for your DDs party now...

snowangels1 · 19/01/2011 10:00

Oh, a few people said on here a while ago something about buying chocs for mws on labour ward to give after birth. Hadn't actually thought of that - is it something most of you are doing? I had thought about biccies but then thought DH can just get something post birth whilst I'm on the ward - but, thinking it through, goodness knows what DH will choose given free reign of a smarket. So - is it something common to do and any ideas for something nice that isn't chocolate or biscuits? (surely they must get loads of those). As a teacher I know that I'd actually rather a thoughtfully written thankyou note than yet another box of chocs come end of term - maybe mws are the same?

smallblackflowers · 19/01/2011 10:37

angels not sure what the matter is with my cat, but she tends to go through sicky phases every now and then. Have taken her to the vet in the past and they've never found anything wrong with her. Fingers crossed it is coming to an end, as she managed to keep her dinner and (hopefully) breakfast down.

WRT chocolates etc for midwives, I didn't last time. When I mentioned it to DH last night he thought it was a ridiculous idea...I did see a pin board covered in thank you cards when I went on my tour last saturday though. No-one was screaming / moaning by the way, and all the delivery rooms bar 1 were occupied.

wigglesrock · 19/01/2011 11:07

I have always left chocs or biscuits into the tearoom for the midwives with a thank you card. I'm not sure what they do with them but I always do it. I often thought wine or something else but then its hard to get something they can split.

janedoe baby wiggles has been wiggling a lot lately but last night I ate an ice lolly and they went mad, couldn't calm them down, no more cheapo Tesco lollies for me Grin

sbf I need my hair and eyebrows doing asap, my mum got me a voucher for hairdressers as Christmas present but I don't want to get it done too early, my hair grows at a ridiculous rate during pregnancy and the last thing I want is the multiple slight grey showing if baby goes over.

EauRouge · 19/01/2011 11:28

sbf, does your cat go out much? My cat went through a sicky phase, turned out one of my neighbours was feeding him kitchen scraps Hmm Too bad he wasn't puking on her carpet.

Took DD to playgroup this morning and everyone was trying to guess if I'm having a boy or a girl- the general consensus was girl but I suppose we'll find out for sure in a few weeks!

snowangels1 · 19/01/2011 12:15

Well, a card it is and maybe some chocolate too if I can be organised (or don't think of anything more inventive).

Feeling very Confused as got scary letter this morning re: my potential GD (think I must have it as have had a few off readings now) and it talks about how I will prob need insulin IV during labour Shock. Also says if I end out with an elec csec I have to fast for about 9 hours before. All lit I've read says people don't fast for csecs any more and surely this wouldn't be a good thing for a diabetic (blood sugar level would get really low and I'd feel really ropey). ANyone having an elec cs (know ledkr is) tell me if they have to fast? Just out of interest really.

I'm feeling quite out of control and scared now about all these problems and interventions that are cropping up and feeling really bad that I have had to eat so much during pg to help the permenant nausea and putting on weight must be contributing to all these problems Blush

wigglesrock · 19/01/2011 12:35

snowangels I feel scared and out of control at the minute too, and its my 3rd. You have to take it easy on yourself - you needed to eat more in earlier pregnancy to stop being sick - I feel the opposite I couldn't eat for so long that I now feel that my body is completely screwed and that it may mean it takes me longer to recover Smile

I mentioned yesterday that I felt teary, well its got worse, I could literally sit and cry - hasn't really happened with previous pregnancies, threw hissy fit with Mr Wiggles because he couldn't read my mind didn't do what I wanted this morning Blush. I am now silently seething that bridezilla my darling sister moved her wedding forward to 6 weeks after my EDD. Managed to mildly upset my Mum this morning because I had mentioned it to her, and she now feels she should have mentioned to my sister that date might be a bit optimistic!! Aaagh too many hormones, I think I'm more annoyed with myself than amything else, I'm really not much of a crier Shock

PinkElephant73 · 19/01/2011 12:35

Angels can you phone whoever sent you the scary letter and ask them to explain it to you?

or could you ring your CMW and ask her to go through it with you.

It may just be giving you the worst case scenario just in casr, but sending you this info by letter doesnt seem like the most sensible approach to me - it would worry anyone.
