Oh yes and I looove my new pram! I keep wanting to play with it. DD keeps asking for a ride on it (it has a little toddler step on it).

PDR · 14/01/2011 07:20

dreya you look fab! Am most jealous!

Just saw on the news there is now conflicting advice on when to start weaning again... I weaned DS a killer before 6 months but not much so I guess we all have to make a decision based on what is best for our own babies... One baby might be ready at 4m whereas another might not.

Sorry it's only 7am - that's a bit serious isn't it?!

I'm just waiting for DS to wake up! He's only going to nursery for a couple if hours this morning as I've got a couple of friends coming for lunch with their DC. Just need DS out of the house long enough to tidy up / prepare lunch!

Anyone got plans for the weekend? We are going swimming on Sunday as got DS one of those floater suits and some armbands so he can be a bit more independant in the water.

PDR · 14/01/2011 07:21

Ps. Pram love is totally normal! My new pram us still at the shop - they are waiting for the car seat to arrive then I can go and collect everything. Can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!

PDR · 14/01/2011 07:22

Killer = little!!! Damn iPhone!

PinkiePoo · 14/01/2011 07:28

Well i have 4 weeks left teaching...and it is a bloody struggle, i thought i would be ok, like some kind of superwoman, but who am i kidding? I am all pathetic and whingy right now!! But DP and I have decided if enough is enough then so be it, i think it is because I am much bigger than expected.

Which leads me on to all your wonderful bump pics....how lovely and neat. You all look blooming gorgeous! Will try and post a bump pic of mine, and i honestly want the truth, because i am bloody huge.

Had AN class on Wednesday and midwife (who is lovely young midwife on One born every min - i live in area it is filmed) said 'my you have grown since last week'. Last week i was measuring way too big...GREAT!!! I am going to explode, its official. HAPPY FRIDAY LADIES!!

Oneof4 · 14/01/2011 07:36

Morning ladies.

Had a major trip up north for work yesterday and bump was doing his usual gymnastics all the way through the return journey. I glanced up and saw the girl opposite me transfixed by my wildly gyrating belly, slowly turning green - she had to move seats in the end! He he he.

Hope everything's going okay varicose?

Contemplating chocolate orange for (second) breakfast. Nom nom nom...

ledkr · 14/01/2011 08:10

pdr our massive babies will need weaning way before 6 months haha.My ds were having a good dinner by 6 months,dd was also on light solids by 4 months they are all skinny, very fit and have no allergies :)
Will be posting a bump horror pic today as i am now speaking to dh all be it in clipped tones.I woke up hrly last night with hip pain and the slightest little bit of wee in my bladder was ittitating my spd.Going out tonight,i may have a large glass of wine to help me sleep tonight, cant hurt this far on surely.
one of i was in drs waiting room and had the same thing,i felt quite embarrassed and covered my bump with my bag.

Deliaskis · 14/01/2011 09:18

Dreya you look very glam! Lovely pic.

LOL at people admitting to being in the jama club. We have 'house clothes' too, they're different again, we call them 'day jamas' Blush, and DH has a pair of trousers he calls 'apartment pants' a la Rachel's sister from friends, as they arrived just before we went away to our apartment in Austria and spent the weekend snuggled up under a blanket watching DVDs and doing basically nothing!

Was at a meeting last night (of 8 ladies) and whoever was talking at any point kept getting distracted by my alien-like wiggling bump.

Thinking of varicose and hoping everything is well xxx

D

NeedToSleepZZZ · 14/01/2011 09:42

wow, dreya you look amazing, i hope you feel it too! don't worry about stroking the pram, i went through a phase of stopping and touching the crib when we first got it. it made me well up a lot too Blush

i'm not having a water birth but plan to have lots of baths/showers at first.

keep Grin at our wiggly bumps, sounds like they're all doing their own thing! it's great for getting rid of squeamish people!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 14/01/2011 09:54

Oh, forgot to say that health ministers would've had my DM locked up years ago as she was told to give my DB rice and rusks in milk from 5 weeks. He was never full and, although I think he may have had a problem with reflux, cried all the time until she did this. He's now 6ft 3" and still eats all the time Grin

I think you need to trust your instincts with weaning and when the time's right just cover your house with newspaper each mealtime.... Wink

Deliaskis · 14/01/2011 10:02

BTW, meant to say, I had a busy day yesterday, full day at work, home, quick tea, and out to a meeting, not back until 11pm, and lo and behold, I slept a whole 4 hours in one stretch (not done this since about 16 weeks and stopped sleeping on front). Then woke up a bit uncomfy and went to wake up DH who was asleep on the sofa (had come in late and didn't want to disturb me), and made him swap as whenever I wake in the night I can't get back to sleep in bed but do fine on the sofa. Then slept again until 7am! Yippeeeeeeeeeeee!! Feel great.

So whilst I am tired a lot of the time and sometimes wish I wasn't at work, I am also thinking being busy is good for me too if it makes me get some proper unbroken sleep.

NeedToSleep I agree re trusting instincts. I think sometimes guidelines are dumbed down into hard and fast rules, because NICE, or the government, or WHO or whatever, seem to think people in general aren't intelligent enough to appreciate that everyone is slightly different, and in life there is lots of scope for nuance. In every single study, there is a percentage of subjects who didn't fit with the majority, which in itself proves that what works for one might not work for another.

D

WanderingSheep · 14/01/2011 10:06

Yes to covering house with newspaper! Or get a dog - they're good for hoovering up any spilled food, although we don't have one.

EauRouge · 14/01/2011 10:09

Morning all!

I'm just going to ignore the latest weaning advice, they'll probably change their minds again by next week Hmm this baby can have solids when it crawls over and helps itself off my plate. Grin

I got a baby born doll for DD yesterday so she can join in with baby stuff. She's already said she's going to help bath the baby and put away all her toys (ha!). I got a cheapo gym ball as well.

Still need to do a trial run with the birth pool, will probably wait until next week when the MW comes round to scope the place out.

Oh and if one more person says I'm brave for wanting a home birth I'm going to thump them Angry

snowangels1 · 14/01/2011 10:35

dreya my friend did the same re: stroking.....but she did it with a new designer handbag she brought from harrods Wink .

Am now feeling very inadequate and chubby after looking at all the lovely bump piccies.

Am feeling very queasy after a cat sick incident last night on my lovely feeding glider chair (that'll be the one chair that DH has been instructed to make sure the cat does not go on then Angry ).

Speaking of living in joggers/house clothes I've been living in the same pair of joggers and only have 2 maternity tops (lots of night time washing/hanging on radiators to get dry in time going on). Today I've pushed the boat out with wearing my mat jeans as I have a friend coming over in a min so thought I'd better make a little effort, but I'm already feeling them dig in Confused .

No news from varicose yet??

So glad you get your hb needto - know that's what you want.

I'm planning on properly organising hospital bag in the next week but have so much stuff it will have to be spread over 3 bags Blush . One for important immediate use during birth (eg drink/camera), one for 'might be needed during birth or very soon after' and one for 'not needed until I'm on the ward afterwards' (eg spare knickers etc). Sure I'm overpacking but can't help it - it's my way of organising and controlling as much as I can (control freak I am).

I'm soooo hungry today and ocado haven't arrived yet. Am starting to feel like chomping on wood it's that bad Confused

PDR · 14/01/2011 11:53

Plans for this morning have been curtailed as nursery rang at 10am to ask me to come and fetch DS as he has a temp. He's gone to bed now but have given him some calpol as temp went to 40 degrees. Haven't noticed any other symptoms and he was fine this morning so we'll see if it comes to anything. It's only been a month since he was last sick Confused!

EauRouge · 14/01/2011 12:09

Oh no, I hope he's OK :(

We might be doing early weaning after all, DD has just announced that when the baby comes she's going to give it some cheesecake Hmm

angels , cats are so bloody inconsiderate aren't they, mine will leave the tiled kitchen to go and puke on a carpet somewhere Angry I hope the sick comes out of the chair OK.

CantwaittoPopsy · 14/01/2011 14:22

So many lovely neat bumps - feeling really guilty about this LO as I took so many Photies of DD and have none specifically of bump this time round
Am hoping you have just cut and paste your pic out of the latest Jo Jo catalogue Dreya cos otherwise is v. unfair! Wink
Have just been wiping under sofas with a wetwipe - does this count as nesting? Am a slummy mummy without a doubt!
PDR which pram are you getting again? Still haven't decided what to do so have set up bugaboo with board and have dug hippy lentil sling out so can try those before I buy. Am loving your list and agree with each one - someone just said "are you popsy 5 weeks to go or really 8 weeks to go?" boo hiss soooooo wish I could be early!!!! I remember seeing all the posts come on MN from my DD month and I was having DD same time as everyone the follwoing month grrrrr
better go check out the March ladies so I have some company towards the end while you are all cuddling your new babies.
Right MUST go get DD up - the temptation to leave her to kip til about 4pm is getting stronger by the day - however am on own tonight so reckon would prefer and early bed to an extended afternoon feet up rest.
Have a good weekend everyone

ledkr · 14/01/2011 15:50

Hello hello, ive been having fun on the swingers thread you really should pop across.
Just been to mw,i am now measuring drumroll 45cms-officially a freak-mw says not dangerous as im booked for section and its fluid not big baby,so there you go yet another opinion on the cause of my enormous bump.Baby is nearly engaged and mw said it really could come anytime now, grrr, messing up my plans.Said to be really vigillant re movements too but i find that confusing. This one tends to be quiet all night and day then come to life late afternoon and evening.Anyone else like that. Also she was moing when mw was listening and i couldnt feel it.
Mw is going to "have a word with the gp who saw mw last week as he should have sent me straight in with those symptoms.
Back to swinging Grin

WanderingSheep · 14/01/2011 15:58

Ledkr I saw you on the swingers thread! I didn't post though. Everyone - swapping email addresses, she was! Shock Nah, I'm only teasing Grin.

I think that my baby is going to be The Incredible Non Sleeper! She doesn't keep still. Who was it who was talking about their baby getting hiccups? I flipping jinxed myself by saying, "ooh, I haven't felt any!" now she has them all the bloody time, usually just as I'm trying to get to sleep! She has them now, in fact.

roundthehouses · 14/01/2011 16:13

hellooo been lurking for a couple of days but too knackered to post [how crap am i?!]

having a very lazy day, working in theory but I am largely left to my own devices which right now = 2 hours in the office doing vaguely work related things followed by an early finish. dropped ds off at a friend´s house after lunch and had a nice quiet couple of hours with dh doing some tidying but mostly vegging on the sofa. Lovely.

Definitely feeling so much more tired again now, feel i could sleep most of the day if left to it! Baby still not turned, chiropractor wants me to go in 5 days next week too but I don´t think I will, is 20kms there and back which I know isn´t loads but I´m really not that comfy driving anymore and doing that just for a 10min appt, I´m just not sure its worth it when I´d really rather chill out. don´t you think? will still do 2 or 3 appts but 5 just seems a bit much and would be better going swimming or something.

Hopefully will pick up pram over the weekend and moses basket sometime next week. Then if I finally get around to washing the baby clothes I think we should be more or less sorted. Need to get a new cot mattress, dragged it out from under our bed cos I was worried cats were sleeping on it, damp etc.. put it in the office where I thought it would be better and when I looked at it the other day the wall it was leaning against was covered in damp! So we reckon we have to throw it out just to be safe. Annoying though as wasn´t on list of things to buy! ho hum. Any verdict on foam vs sprung mattresses?

Still think my hospital bag will be well minimal but I do like the idea of a bigger bag in the car/ hall in case I need more stuff and don´t want to try and direct dh around my wardrobe from hospital. Problem is I don´t have THAT many clothes/pyjamas etc so I don´t want to pack anything yet as I need to wear my stuff! lol.

love the bump pics, you are all looking lovely. Mine is alright I think but sorting a pic def. requires a level of organisation that eludes me right now Grin

ok off to get the boy. hopefully have time to check back in later x

WanderingSheep · 14/01/2011 16:21

I realised today that our old Moses basket mattress has a washable cover. I presume that this means that we don't have to buy a new one as I can just wash it. Does anyone know?

WanderingSheep · 14/01/2011 16:28

It's been in the attic for 3 years btw!

EauRouge · 14/01/2011 16:33

I'm just washing the covers on ours, it's been in a bin bag in the loft for a couple of years. If it's cotton then just do it on a hot wash and then iron it, that should kill off any dust mites etc.

lostfromoz · 14/01/2011 17:03

WanderingSheep...the NCT woman on our course was very definite and slightly frightening about getting a new mattress...apparently it's the damp in the old mattresses that's the issue? If you've left it for any length of time it probably has got some damp in it, apparently. I was very annoyed as this was the one item of baby gear I thought I had sorted, courtesy of my lovely sister-in-law.

WanderingSheep · 14/01/2011 17:03

I'm not sure what material it is. It's that strange waffley papery stuff iykwim? I've washed it and I've stuck the foam bit in the wash too Confused and I'll make sure it's properly dried. I know that the guidelines say to buy new but I wonder how often hospitals replace theirs? Although they're not in hospital for that long, I suppose!

It hasn't been in a bin liner but it was covered. I'll probably have a wobble nearer D-day and decide to buy new Smile!
