hi girls - firstly i am so sorry i have got behind on my postings this week. one of those weeks im afraid. secondly fabulous news on all the scans, it is so great hearing everyone is doing so well.

my news is that i had my scan today (after throwing up just as i left the house! no let up!) and cadmum and rosieposie were spot on with their guesses it is a little girly who has been making me so sick! i am absolutely thrilled that everything was looking good and very relieved - i was quite worked up about this scan, couldnt help it. but now much happier and will try and post a pic somehow (our scanner is kaput so dont know how yet)

take care all x

toothyboy · 27/10/2005 21:37

Hi everyone! Congratulations to all you lucky ladies who know what you're getting in March!

Had my scan yesterday, mostly OK, but I'm going back for another scan in about a month cos the sonographer says the baby is on the smallest end of the scale for my dates. I'm not too worried about it as she said that it's grown in line with last time's measurements and she just wants to check that it's still growing at the same, or greater rate. At least it means I get to see it again before March!

We didn't ask the sex, but DP thinks he might have seen something - so it could be another boy, but who knows?!!

Glad to hear everyone else is doing so well - we seem to be a lucky bunch without too many problems; lets hope it stays that way!

RosiePosie · 28/10/2005 08:01

Congratulations on your scan result - toothyboy and Romilly!

Toothyboy - don't worry about the small for dates thing - they're notoriously inaccurate anyway, and "small end of the scale" is not the same as "too small" - I have small babies ( although not so sure about this one!) and had a growth scan towards the end of my last pregnancy - she popped out a small but perftect 6 lbs 10.

Romilly - I knew it! I knew it! I know it's not always the case, but often girls make you sicker - she will be soooo worth it! Although I must admit, I was relieved this time that I wasn't as sick as last time ( made up for the slight disappointment I felt at having a boy )

Frizbe · 28/10/2005 12:13

Congrats on the scans toothy and Rom, like RP says don't worry about the scan results, personally IMO the smaller the better when it comes to getting them out (ouch!) really hoping this next one isn't too much bigger than dd (watering eyes emoticon) who at 7lbs11oz was quite enough thank you!!
RP yep I've had the pox, so ok there, but still no sign of anything on dd, still slight temp, still slightly grouchy, she's just passed out on the sofa, after asking to go to bed, then insisting she didn't want to go after all! women eh!
Righty off to feed ss and get prepared for the rest of the days party preparations (dd's 2nd party tomorrow! although her bday isn't till Tue!)

RosiePosie · 28/10/2005 12:40

My dd is two on the ninth

I think the spots would have probably arrived by now if it was the pox - they tend to come fairly quickly, but don't quote me on that!

newgirl · 28/10/2005 14:18

Congrats on the scans!! I'm all for a smaller baby - I am sure nature designs them that way! my DD was 10 lbs - just stay off the steaks thats all I can say about that one!

So do we think that morning sickness = girl? My good friend who is due in April is very sick - I'm just curious - I won't say anything to her!!

newgirl · 28/10/2005 14:20

Forgot to say that my DD (now 3.5) never really had chicken pox despite all her friends and nursery having it. So I now look back and think that she did have one or two spots when she was about 1 and that might have been it? No idea to be honest.

thell · 28/10/2005 14:44

A mum I knew a while back caught chicken pox from her daughters a ridiculous number of times - she always got it quite mildly and never developed an immunity to it.

Yoinks!

RosiePosie · 28/10/2005 14:59

I think I must have had it very mildly at some point because I appear to be immune - both brothers definately had it, and I nursed my two through it, but I've never knowingly had it.

It's amazing how if effects people differently - my ds had 10 spots and that was it, dd was so poorly with it though!

Klara · 28/10/2005 16:19

hi - havn't posted on here yet - have been a bit out of it recently with sickness. Am due end of March, so now 19 weeks. Had scan yesterday and they weren't sure if it was a girl or not - looks likely, but could just be too early.

Is there any link between sickness and it being a girl. Alrady have one ds - would quite like a girl...

klara

romilly · 28/10/2005 16:21

newgirl - rosieposie, cadmum and i are all definitely of the opinion that extreme morning sickness = girl. i think we all speak from experience!

Frizbe · 28/10/2005 17:03

Thanks for the pox info girls, dd is now looking a bit better, just as I've booked her into the docs (but she did sleep for 3 hrs and still hasn't eaten properly) for later tonight (they're short of docs!) just gona get her checked, as have heard of people getting it, but with more hidden spots, like in ears, and eyes, mouth etc, but hardly/none on body, so better to check me thinks!!

Frizbe · 28/10/2005 17:04

Ah Rom, but then I also know someone with extremem sickness who had a boy....but agree generally lots of sickness does = a girl!!
Hi Klara, welcome to the madhouse!

poppyh · 28/10/2005 21:29

Friz,
My DD has had fever since last night, am paranoid shes about to erupt into spots!!

romilly · 29/10/2005 11:46

friz - what did the doc say? is dd all clear?

munz - i bought a tonne of chocolate for the trick or treaters and between mr.rom and myself we have almost polished it all off in one night i saved you a mini swiss roll! (sorry no green & blacks left)

munz · 29/10/2005 14:20

lol@ RP - and DS's willie - boys will be boys I guess - and please remind me aI said that when my DS is fiddaling with his - my little cousin did it from about 2.

rom - one swiss roll - humph! - well I guess it will do... lol - only kidding - am v tempted to do a double decker choc cake - althou mum and dad have now gone so i'd just have to eat it all! and get fatter! (my bump seem's to ahve just grown over night)

friz - how did ur trip to the dr's go? is DD any better?

Klara - hiya and welcome to the mad house - i'll add you to stats as well - (i'm a real saddo now - they're saved on the comp at work! lol)

NG - so is it all beef then or jsut beef steaks? - should I cut back on beef - don't wannt be having a 10lb baby! lol - actually one of DH's mates his LO was born a t 9lb I swear to god at 7 months (when we first see him) - he looked about 1 year - he was huge. I had no sickness (well was sick once) just felt sick everydasy till about 14 /15 weeks ish, (nothing a bag of crisps didn't sort out thou ) and mine's a boy, althou I think friz had next to no sickness and is having a girl - i've also found in the first trimester I didn't really get tired either - and had v v erotic dreams - I'm talking seriously lol - (esp one about sting of all ppl - althou he was v good in it! lol)

tb - hope your next scan works out ok - is ur M/W unduly worried? we've beena lucky bunch so far really haven't we, (obviously apart from the sad few how didn't make it) fingers crossed everyone has a smoth time till march. (and do u believe none of us are having twins) - how accurate are the m/w's with their weights/sizes anyhow?

thell - good to hear we all understand each other on the whole grieveing for the unborn child - it is a shock isn't it. - I am slightly worried as I'm still not overly bonding - alhtou have started to rub my tum a bit- but am worried about not bonding with this bump of mine.

we're still no closer to finding a name. (i've given up tbh) have been out looking at prams today - gonna take DH back next week - so far it's looking like a mama's and papa's pramette thingy the shop's local and will deliver it the dayy I come out of hospital - so I think I may well go for the cot there - but don't know yet - u can pay monthly as well. we shall see.

anyhow this is prob really long - so sorry for not being around much - hopefully will be this week.

coppertop · 30/10/2005 12:34

Congratulations to all of you who've had your scans already. Mine is next week but I probably won't get a chance to post until next weekend.

I'm not sure about the morning sickness theories. First time around I was sick morning, noon and night for 16 weeks and had a boy. Second time around I felt queasy for 16 weeks but was only sick once and had another boy. This time was the same as last time so who knows what could be in there??

Klara · 31/10/2005 11:12

There was a website posted on mn months ago that was a sex prediction game - something along the lines of - what doi you crave, how often do you wee, do you have spots etc etc - can't for the life of me find the thread though.

AM fairly feeling my beanie moving around now - seems especially active when i am at work!

Munz - by the way my due date is the 27th March. Rather oddly it's 3 days before ds birthday - people are starting to ask if there's a special occasion in June /July in our house.....nope - just me and dh dancing round our fertility ring in the garden (JOKE!)

klara

munz · 31/10/2005 13:24

LMAO@klara - ok hon will do it now for u, I was gonna try the whole fertility thing but didn't get around to it!

v quiet today - where r u girls?

marne · 31/10/2005 13:41

Hi, i have got my scan tomorow,
Just spent the morning in maternity as i had a bleed last night, all seems ok, baby is realy active and has a fast heart beat so maybe its a girl (will find out tomorow). Cant wait to find out what i'm having (fingers crossed for a boy). Hope you are all well and happy.

catj · 31/10/2005 16:56

Hi all!
Marne,I've got my scan tomorrow too.
Feeling very pleased with myself as I hit the shops today & have done most of my christmas pressie shopping. Have even thought about wrapping it all too!
Made the mistake of going to look at pushchairs & now can't decide whether to be indulgent and get a Phil and Teds or be tight as usual & buy my sister's travel system from her. Lots of grovelling to dh coming up .

RosiePosie · 31/10/2005 17:21

Good luck with your scans!

Nothing to report here, am very very bored - it's going too slowly, I feel like I've been pregnant forever. I know I shouldn't wish it away, after all this is the last time I'll be doing it.

Frizbe · 31/10/2005 20:33

Hi all glad to see you all had goodish weekends

Marne, how are you feeling, glad all appears to be ok, but still not nice to have a scare like that {{{{Hugs}}}} please make sure you take it easy now and good luck with scan tomorrow.

Catj Good luck with scan also!

Have been reading the feb thread and scarey how some of the girls are entering the 3rd tri already!! but then I was 23 weeks yest so guess not that far behind! (how fast is this all going?!)

Poppy H, Rom and Munz, thanks for asking about dd, sorry to not have replied earlier, been busy with parties and people lagging on from the weekends festivities!

Well dd is officially 2 tomorrow, so we had her Halloweeen Bday party on Sat, enjoyed by all, now have a houseful of new toys!
As you may have guessed it's probably not the pox! doc said it could be, but he couldn't tell...apparently spots can appear between 7-10 days after the fever!!...dd perked up Fri pm, and was fine sat am, so we decided to go ahead with party, half way thru she came out in a rash, which looked a bit poxy, but this went during Sunday evening??? so guessing just a random rash, as if it was pox it would still be sticking around! She again seems loads better today too, and has managed two whole days going to the potty with no accidents!! wooo hooooo (even at nursery on their potties!)

Lizzylou · 01/11/2005 08:37

HI all, just doping usual catch up on a Tuesday!
Have had a manic week and am exhausted...5am starts from DS have now gone to 4am due to the clocks, although we are being strict as this can't go on!
Bought our Phil and Ted's at the weekend...v excited!
Munz and others- I sooo wanted a girl last time, and I was adamant that I knew it was a girl...when DS popped out I was shocked but have to say that I couldn't love him anymore, he is adorable and he loves his Mom soo much, I get so manyt kisses and cuddles, and now I worry that we are too much of a "boy" family if we were to have a girl this time! I know what you mean about bonding with the bump Munz, I truly don't feel like I am having a baby...just getting fatter and tireder! Last time I didn't bond with DS until a day or so after the birth, everyone's different and it all just felt so strange and wierd to me..
I did things like talk to my bump and write in the baby book and play the bump it's mobile which did help.
Off for a quick nap, we had a Halloween party yesterday afternoon for Ds and some of his friends which has left me beyond knackered!

RosiePosie · 01/11/2005 10:18

Hey, I've got a P&T's too, getting lots of use out of it as a single at the moment, but can't wait to start using it as a double

I haven't bonded with either of mine until they were a few weeks old, was in total shock the first time I think, and the second time took a while too - I think I just need to get to know them a bit first! Feeling quite sentimental about this bump though, last pregnancy and all that. . .
