I promise to try to catch up tomorrow but today has been insanely hectic. All went well at my scan and here is a photo ! There is not much to tell except that everything is where is should be and the estimated weight was 15.5 oz. Do you think it looks like a boy or a girl? DD is really, really longing for a sister...

Cadmum · 26/10/2005 02:39

Frizbe: I am really sorry for making you wait enlessly. It is 5 hours time dif and my appt. with the consultant was delayed because some poor soul had an emergency section. It was nice to just sit in the waiting room with a pile of magazines knowing that my kids were playing happily at a friend?s house but it made the evening insanely rushed.

Gggrr, I typed out a long reply and then the site crashed - is anyone else having trouble with mumsnet at the moment? Anyway, the gist of it was. . .Yay Cadmum! So glad your scan went well, and that is such a clear picture!

poppyh · 26/10/2005 09:04

Glad your scan went well Cadmum.

Frizbe · 26/10/2005 09:50

Poppy H yes I did see it!! well the begining and end, cause I realised I was missing Love Soup!
Cadmum, congrats on a great scan photo, think its a boy hon (but that just IMO!)
Hi to all hope your having a good day!

desperatehousewife · 26/10/2005 13:51

Had great 20 week scan this morning - i'm having another boy! Aaaargh. I cried (how ungrateful is that?) I'm obviously thrilled that the baby is well and right size, but so wanted a little Ruby!

Don't have any boys names!!!!

DHW: Congratulations on the brilliant scan! Sorry that baby has not got the bits you were hoping for. I can fully understand the tears. I would have cried if DS2 had been a girl. It is a really strange feeling to imagine that your baby is a certain gender only to find out that you are wrong. I was convinced that I would only have boys (all of my cousins are boys) and I was scared to death of having a girl so DD was a bit of a shock.

I know that you will be absolutely delighted with the little man once he is born. I cannot imagine my life without my DD and now I am almost hoping that this baby is a girl too...

At least you have nearly 20 weeks to get used to the idea of having a little man around the house. If it helps, I have lots of lovely boys clothes up for grabs if this baby is a girl.

munz · 26/10/2005 14:13

cads - lovely piccy honney.

dhw - sorry u're dissapointed. like us with finding names eh?? lol. it's upsetting I think about not having a girl. as I said b4 u picture them etc don't u. still it's fab u're having a boy and DS will have a play mate.

RosiePosie · 26/10/2005 14:47

DHW, I was very disappointed when I found out ds1 was a boy, and of course I was besotted with him when he was born. I was ecstatic when they told me baby no. 2 was a girl - I'll admit it, I feel blessed. Again I was disappointed a little when they told me this one is a boy, and I feel I had no right to be, after all I already have my girl. I just really wanted her to have a sister. I'm happy about it now though.

Give yourself time to grieve a little ( if that makes sense ), get used to the idea, and remind yourself that when you hold the little one in your arms you will love him so much it hurts. If it's any consolation, by ds was a much more adorable and easy baby and toddler than my dd is.

newgirl · 26/10/2005 15:43

dhw - shall we swap?! I am sure when we have got the little so and sos we will be thrilled really.

I reckon rosieposie is right - i did grieve a bit - I have had to think about never having a little boy. I saw a cute little urchin boy the other day - hair sticking up and cute jeans and felt a real pang of loss. Maybe I should think about teenage acne!!

on a cheery note I went to my first aqua natal class today what a laugh. My chest nearly popped out of my cossie so I need to buy a new one urgently. It was pretty good exercise - I was starving afterwards!

munz - ce on itv tonight i think getting a tv award - do you think he will wear a bow tie?

munz · 26/10/2005 15:46

lol - now see I have 2 hours on uktv gold (eps 8&9) I think or I have the tv awards on ITV - with possibly Ross kemp as well! what do u think? he he

desperatehousewife · 26/10/2005 18:07

thanks everyone! I am fine honestly - just was a bit shocked (although I expected it if that makes sense!)

I am thrilled for DS that he will have a brother. I know how to handle boys now - still find them a bit shocking in their physical manner, but at least I know it now.

I am just so chuffed that my little baby is alright - it's a bloody miricle isn't it?!

Thanks cadmum on clothes!! I have a loft full of clothes, but sadly for a summer boy (DS was born in July 3 years ago!)

who's next on the scan?

Cadmum · 26/10/2005 19:09

Romilly?s scan is tomorrow at 11:00 am. Is it a boy or a girl?

My vote is pink. (So violently ill and for so long=girl in my books)

Frizbe · 26/10/2005 19:20

DHW congrats on a good scan, sure you'll get used to another boy!

Cadmum, I reckon Rom is having a boy, as the last person I knew with hypermesis had a boy! and boy did he turn out to be hyper too!! walking by 7mths have photo of him at 3 weeks old on his front doing a pushup
Good luck with the scan Rom!

RosiePosie · 26/10/2005 19:24

I agree, I think it's a girl - I was much sicker and for much longer with my girl than my boys. Good luck Romilly!

munz · 27/10/2005 09:37

DHW - what are boy's physical mannor like? - are they reall easier han girls?

we're toying with zach now (zachary) I quite like it actually DH likes zach but I can live with that! brad's def out and joesph's falling off the table! lol, jack is a contender for DH as is joshua. i've told DH to look online today for names.

does anyone else have probs with boobies at the mo? - mine don't feel like mine if that makes sence - and not to mention I have a rather large hard bit by the nipple - do u think I should worry? - was thinking it's just the milk ducts working? - is it about right for now? - as DH reminded me last night 22 weeks on sunday

munz · 27/10/2005 09:45

rom - good luck today fingers crossed let us know/post a piccy!

any more scan's coming up?

Zephyrrywitchescat · 27/10/2005 09:48

Hi all - loving all these scan reports and photos - they're brill!!! I want mine nooooooow!! lol

Got ante-natal with the doc this afternoon so dd is all excited about hearing it again - or 'dewie' as she is still calling it!!

I'm all hectic trying to arrange alast minute birthday party for dd at the moment - trying to book a date in december is just hell but I daren't mention it on here again in case the xmas day baby thing flares up again!!

RosiePosie · 27/10/2005 10:50

I can sympathise a bit about birthday's at Christmas - my ds' is the week before - not quite the same, I know, but still impossible to have parties etc, and with all the hype of Christmas these days, his birthday and Christmas all just seems to merge into one.

Mumz, re boys and girls, generalising obviously because every child is different regardless of their sex, but I have found my ds much more active physically but temperamentally easier. DD is more placid, but since becoming a toddler has become increasingly stroppy and emotional.

DS is nearly 5 and won't leave is willy alone now, which is driving me mad - I don't mind him doing it, it's natural - but I just wish he'd learn a bit of modesty! Also, took forever to toilet train - was nearly 4 by the time we finally cracked it! DD is almost two and getting the hang of it already.

thell · 27/10/2005 11:12

It's funny you've all been discussing gender disappointment - I had the same conversation with a chum I visited yesterday. She said she was really disappointed to be having a boy, but you're not supposed to talk about things like that. (Of course she's utterly in love with him now.) But it's much more common than we'll usually admit.

For me I think Cadmum's hit the nail on the head - I'm perfectly happy to be having a little girl now, but it was a shock at first because I had such a strong feeling it was a boy. My DH seemed slightly horrified that I was disappointed, but it was the shock of being told that the connection I had with my unborn child was imaginary!!

DHW - people have told me that little boys love their mummies!!
And if you wanted Ruby for a girl, what about Ruben for your DS? Or save the name for the next baba,...!

Frizbe · 27/10/2005 13:15

Good idea there thell! got me thinking of that racing driver now
Hope all are ok, I'm a bit tired, as slept on dd's floor last night, as she had a temp of 102 and kept calling out for me, so to enable dh to get a vague bit of sleep before work I bailed out to dd's room at 1am......she seems a bit better this afternoon tho, so fingers x'd she'll be ok for the weekend (hopeing she doesn't pop out in Pox spots, as sometimes a temp can be a precurser and one of her mates had just sprouted loads....)

RosiePosie · 27/10/2005 14:17

grrooaaaan, I ate a whole platter of chinese nibbly things for lunch - sesame toast, prawn wontons etc and now I have terrible indigestion!

Hope it's not the pox, Frizbe, although nice to get it over and done with. My two had it earlier this year. DS was fine, just a few spots, but DD was terribly ill for about a week. We went 3 whole nights without any sleep. Fingers crossed if it is, she only has it mildly.

Frizbe · 27/10/2005 19:17

Hmmmm am waiting to find out rp, still has a temp, tho not so bad....one spot type thing on forehead, not sure if its a pox spot for not?

RosiePosie · 27/10/2005 20:34

If it's pox, the spots will come out pretty rapidly now. . .good luck! I hope you've had it already. . .
