newgirl, get the box next year, its invaluable to have CBeebies

munz · 24/10/2005 21:06

yes NG - how can u not manage? lol - are u sure u're not me instead of lizzy lou - who's having the same apts? my bro's matt as well! lol. our hosp is 5 mins away but only good for 'straightforward pgs/labours'

RosiePosie · 25/10/2005 07:47

Yes - Matthew's a good solid name, but there's not a single one in my ds' reception class, that's partly why I like it - not that common these days!

NG - oh yes, get a box. .if only for cbeebies. . you won't regret it, lol!

Munz - the vast majority of pg's/birth are straightforward - so try not to panic!

Cadmum, good luck with you scan!

poppyh · 25/10/2005 08:28

Hi there all.
Well had my scan last night and its a GIRL!!!
Cant believe it, was so sure it was a boy!!But im very chuffed as I have a girls name picked out and everything. Also bought a pink moses basket so thats good too.
Dd was grumpy as it was past her bedtime, but when they said it was a girl she turned to DH and said, "But you dont need a girl daddy, youve already got me!!"
Good luck with yours today Cadmum.

Frizbe · 25/10/2005 08:38

Congrats Poppy H and bless your dd, a little sister, awwww, we'll have to compare notes on big sisters when the time arrives

poppyh · 25/10/2005 08:45

Thanks Frizbe!
Cant stop doing this today!!

RosiePosie · 25/10/2005 08:49

Yay! That's great news, PH!

Jackstini · 25/10/2005 08:51

Poppy - congrats on your little girl - how exciting. Have you started calling her by her name yet?
Cadmum - good luck for today - will await your news!!
DHW - Soul Food sounds fab - maybe even worth the journey (Friz - if we have a Brighton meet up I will give you a lift!)
Will only have occasional access in next few days - don't know how I will cope without my mumsnet fix! Good luck to anyone else having scans soon - 9 more sleeps til mine

Frizbe · 25/10/2005 08:53

Jackstini that's a deal then (if I can persuade dh to look after dd!)
PoppyH looks like we're nicking your name

poppyh · 25/10/2005 09:22

Good for you Frizbe!!
thanks Jackstini!!

Lizzylou · 25/10/2005 10:14

Just spent ages catching up, congrats Anchovies and Munz on your boys.
I didn't find out the sex, but I think it is a boy...DH thinks a girl though. Couldn't believe how clear the scanner was and it was wonderful to see baby sucking it's thumb!
Hope all are well, you lot are making me blush as I have already put on 1 1/2 stone...mostly in my breast area which are gigantic, but have a pretty impressive bump too! Off swimming at lunchtime to try to calm the weight gain down!

munz · 25/10/2005 14:09

cads - good luck today - when's ur scan?

rom - when's ur one?

pop - congrats on ur girls - any names yet?

munz · 25/10/2005 14:12

friz - did u bake any cakes? - I quite fancy a lemon sponge now after the beanies are on about it!

poppyh · 25/10/2005 16:21

Yes Esme Alice is fav name at the mo.DH has come round as long as he can have Alice!!

newgirl · 25/10/2005 16:49

how weird I've just made a lemon sponge!!!! and I haven't made one for years. Must be 20 week hormones!

congrats poppy on little girl! love your dd's comment!!!

rosieposie - i had a good read of the homebirth website and found it very useful thank you. I don't think its for me now but I feel I am making a more informed choice. The clincher for me was the nearest hospital is 30 mins. I think if I was nearer (say 10 mins max) I would go for it.

dhw - i went searching for info on mumsnet last night after looking at the homebirth site and found your thread by coincidence as I am thinking along the same lines - I thought it was very helpful and gave lots of different views. I am now putting off my decision until 36 week scan and I shall ask the following questions: how thick is my uterine wall (thanks to homebirth site!) how big is the head (my dd was 41 cm so one reason why she wouldn't come out),and has my placenta moved away from the cervix.

If all are ok then I will go for vbac if any are a problem I will have an elective (no matter what docs have to say on the matter).

no idea if this helps, but its one more viewpoint for the pot!

poppyh · 25/10/2005 17:00

I wish I had some lemon sponge!!Sounds lovely!!

newgirl · 25/10/2005 17:16

had two huge warm pieces and now feel a bit queasy!! i think I need chocolate cake to take away the taste!

desperatehousewife · 25/10/2005 18:23

come on cadmum - how are you?

OP posts:
RosiePosie · 25/10/2005 18:48

That's fair enough, NG. To be honest, if the hospital was 30 minutes away from me I'd be thinking twice too probably, but especially if I'd had a previous CS.

Mmhh, lemon sponge. . .

Frizbe · 25/10/2005 19:12

Lizzy Lou, congrats on a good scan
Cadmum thinking of you, hope to hear soonish
Munz, I made a normal victoria sponge today, gona make some room to taste it in a bit too! Lemon Sponge does sound very nice tho!

desperatehousewife · 25/10/2005 19:23

LL - many many congrats on your scan. How lovely that you are so chuffed and surprised!

desperatehousewife · 25/10/2005 19:24

you all seem to be making cakes a lot - have i messed up and got lost and found myself on the domestic goddess thread?

I need to bake a cake too - obviously good therapy. Or is it just those that have had their 20 week scans that are baking?

OP posts:
RosiePosie · 25/10/2005 20:51

I don't bake cakes - I buy them from Marks and Spencers.

desperatehousewife · 25/10/2005 21:48
