You really have to read the pirate thread to get the full enjoyment...
...but basically some poor embarassed MNer's hubbie has inexplicably started using pirate speak during sex (ahar, me darlin', prepare to be boarded! etc)and she doesn't know whether to laugh or cry! Her tentative attempts to put him off are met with hurt looks!
Of course everyone is very sympathetic; but also Peeing themselves laughing, and adding further pirate innuendoes and suggestions.
Last night whilst lying in bed I imagined half the nation's women and their partners giggling and saying 'Avast behind!' to each other

Jackstini · 19/10/2005 21:59

It was the lighthouse comment that did me in!!
Off to bed now me hearties aaarrrrrr

poppyh · 19/10/2005 22:01

It certainly cheered me up!!
Goodnight all.

RosiePosie · 20/10/2005 07:59

Beware the scan, Jackstini, we could most definately see it was a little boy in there! He couldn't have made it more obvious!

desperatehousewife · 20/10/2005 09:53

really rosie?

Talking of dopplering - no one is interested in it except me and my DS slightly. DH or mum couldn't care less really. I'm feeling a bit miffed this time round at how unexcited my nearest and dearest are about this bump. Humph. Think DH might be in denial. And mum only ever had me so it's outside her experience.

Oh well. Thank goodness I have you girls. What a great support!

poppyh · 20/10/2005 10:04

I know how you feel DHW.My family are the same, although DH is just about allowing himself to get excited.Im an only child too and adopted, so my mum has no pregnancy sympathy!!

Frizbe · 20/10/2005 11:15

awww DHW and Poppy H, glad to say my dh and folkes, seem as bouncy this time around as the last, fingers x'd it all goes ok.

RosiePosie · 20/10/2005 11:29

Almost total disinterest here too. DH is quite chuffed ( quietly ) but the rest of the family couldn't care less. In fact FIL and step MIL announced when we phoned them to tell them the scan news, that they have booked a week's ski-ing holiday in the first week of March - flipping great! So, no plan B for someone to look after the children whilst it's all happening, and no extra help for DH during his paternity leave - I'm intending to spend the first week in bed to fully recuperate, and dh will be looking after the children and house on his own, so he was kind of relying on his parent's help. Oh, I'm feeling really cross with them - so thoughtless!

munz · 20/10/2005 11:37

we're quite lucky - both sides are v intrested, MIL want's to knwo the sex, my mum doesn't. it's first GC for both so we're expecting vistins down to us after about 3 weeks - I think they'd get in the del. room if i'd allow it!

Jackstini · 20/10/2005 11:48

Oh no RP - I really want a surprise! Will have to turn away I suppose if they go near 'that' area....
Have been lucky with support really. First GC for my parents and only second for PIL. All family quite amused at doppler as not seen one before!

RosiePosie · 20/10/2005 12:20

Well, I think I just have an exhibitionist on my hands, because I've never been able to tell with the other two, but I thought I'd better warn you!

Jackstini · 20/10/2005 13:43

DH is on about having a 3-D scan too - is going to be hard not to see on that I suppose.....

munz · 20/10/2005 13:57

i'd love a 3d one but our hospital doesn't allow it - just hope out bean's cooperative tomorrow.

jack - when's yours?

romilly · 20/10/2005 14:26

thell - congrats on the scan and your little girl

cant wait to hear munz's news 2moro

taken me ages to catch up with this thread, had a bad week workwise this week (meaning i have had to do some!!)

friz i was very relieved to see that munz took over the honours of doing the stats which you were kindly nominating me for, lol - you cheeky bugger! incidentally munz - i am also chuffed that you have knocked a few years off my age , my due date is 8th march, and i live in SW London for your next update.

desperatehousewife · 20/10/2005 19:29

yes, well done on the stats...very impressive. What a lot of us there are. I'm sure there are some names I don't recognise though. Are there a lot who don't post? Or is it just a few of us who have verbal diorreaha? (sp?!)

Sausage, mash and roasted onion gravy tonight...yum.

Frizbe · 20/10/2005 19:55

bloomin eck where did those stats come from, we must have posted at same time Munz! they weren't there when I wrote my message, if Rom hadn't just mentioned it, I'd never have known
Hope all are well today?
Just had 1st random grope of my bump, grrrrr wish people would ask 1st!

Dene · 20/10/2005 22:37

Hi all

Sorry I haven't posted for ages. I do check in when I get a chance but just don't usually have much to say!

Just to let you know that I have had my 20 week scan and all is well. I am having a girl. I really didn't mind what I was having but I am really pleased now I know that it is a girl and think it will be nice to have one of each. I didn't find out the sex with DS but I just couldn't wait to find out this time! My mom doesn't want to know what it is but I'm sure she will accidentally find out soon as I have told other people.

I am back at work now after having ages off with pregnancy sickness which is why I don't get much chance to post anymore. I am much better than I was but still feel sick quite a lot. At least I'm not actually sick anymore. It is good to be back at work although I miss taking DS to pre school and being their to collect him. Oh well, only a couple of months and I will be finishing for maternity leave.

Good luck everybody who has scans coming up in the next few days and weeks.

poppyh · 21/10/2005 08:10

Congrats on your girl Dene!!
Munz good luck at your scan today honey.Someone else has a scan too, but cant remember who.Whoever it is, Good Luck!!

desperatehousewife · 21/10/2005 08:17

many congrats dene - great news! Does it feel more real now? Are you finding people are excited for you or are you experiencing what I am and not much excitment from DH and Mum??!

Munz good luck honey - will try to log on later to find out your news!

Good luck all

good luck lizzylou and New girl (also scanning today!) hopefully we'll all be OK - didn't sleep a wink last night worrying. so might not be up to shopping after - ah who am I kidding course I will be! lol - still decideiing on town/out little villiage - might do twon today and village tomorrow with mum - or other way round- oh decisions.

Dene - gald to see u back and big congrats on the girl.

DHW - yes a lot of ppl posted once and don't seem to have again - maybe we're too chatty? - didn't want to take them off our list just yet thou - or should I? didn't want anyone to feel I was pushing them out.

ooooooooh rom - doin't know if I can have that - shaving a few years off u! lol - could have sworn that's how old u were - anyhow will update the stats again properly tonight once us three find out what's going on. how did u go with the house?

had bad news from DB last night, he's mnaaged to cheat on his g/f and possibly get an infection he's been talking with DH about the differnt male thingys they do as obviously I don't want to know - DH didn't tell me but was sworn to secracy apparently. anyhow might have passed it onto his g/f v v angry - more with this point than anything else. anyhow she was travelling down last night for crisis talks - wouldn't blame her if she left him - he thinks shes only going there to slap him - and well deserved if u ask me. - may well be my bro but there's somethings u just don't do!

poppyh · 21/10/2005 08:50

Good Luck with all the scans today.Cant wait to find out everybodys news!!

Zephyrrywitchescat · 21/10/2005 09:31

Good luck for today!!!!!

RosiePosie · 21/10/2005 09:50

Yes, good luck with your scans everybody.

I know it's silly and horrible, but I can't help feeling a little jealous of all these baby girls. . .I hadn't realised quite how much I would have liked another girl, and as this is my last baby I'm feeling a little sad about it. I know this won't effect how I feel about this little chap once he is born though. I even caught myself thinking, mmh maybe a fourth wouldn't be a bad idea after all!

Zephyrrywitchescat · 21/10/2005 09:57

Do you have one of each RP? These scan results had me thinking as well this morning!! I am convinced I'll have a girl although I think I'd prefer a boy. However dd is asking for a girl and would be thrilled!

This is definately our last (lol said that after ds!) and I"m getting paranoid about the 'middle child' 'odd one out' etc and was thinking if I had a girl, it would share the big room with dd and ds would be on his own in the little room - then I'd feel sorry for him as he and dd are so close! Silly, I know!

RosiePosie · 21/10/2005 10:07

Yes, I have one of each, ZC. I've done exactly the same as my mother. . .a boy, a girl and another boy. I think this is partly why I'm a bit sad about it - I know what it's like to be the middle girl with two brothers, and I didn't have a great childhood, so I'm feeling a bit sad for my dd. Only a bit though! I'm really looking forward to having another boy - my ds was the most gorgeous baby ever

This is DEFINATELY our last! One of us is getting something permanent done about it next year. . .hopefully dh, lol.
