Spiker- I saw my midwife at 16weeks,got 20 week scan on 1st Nov then not expected to see m/w til I'm 26 weeks.

Frizbe · 13/10/2005 23:38

Thanks for the sympathy re the poo folkes, really hope that doesn't happen again.....poor dd may have a big dog poo phobia now (I hope!)

Newgirl, glad nursery are on the case, hope it gets sorted soon

Spiker, I've been getting seen from 8 weeks and its my 2nd! to be honest, they're treating me same as last time, bloody good, in fact service round here has got better, as this time two scans, last time just one (until I had to have a very late one for placenta anyway) and I also get extra gest diabaties testing this time, as they've intro'd that for anyone who have had someone in their family with it (grandad had it)!

munz · 14/10/2005 09:12

spiker first timer as well - had phone call at 8 weeks, apt at 10 weeks scan and m/w apt at 12/13 weeks, check up to hear the heart at 16 weeks, now scan and apt at 20 weeks then 24 weeks with bloods I think then 28 and every 4 weeks to 36 I think it is down here. never seen the same m/w more than one thou.

friz - did u have to request the gest dia. tests? or did u tell them have diatbete in the family? - i've written it in my notes book thingy. whaht are the extra test? - it's not gloucose moniter testing is it?

RosiePosie · 14/10/2005 09:28

It just depends on where you live - really unfair! I'm lucky here, I see the same community midwife in my own home every time ( if I wasn't having a home birth, it would be at the clinic ). Unless she's not on shift or on call, she'll attend the birth too. I saw her at 9 weeks, scan at 12 weeks, 16 weeks, scan at 21 weeks ( that's next week ) and then I'm seeing her the week after at 22 weeks. Then every 2 weeks from 28 weeks, and every week from 36 weeks.

newgirl · 14/10/2005 16:06

spiker - to be honest I don't know if it worked as the little one has not come back. I think about 22 months is the classic age as the children aren't brilliant at talking and getting what they want.

It sounds like your nursery is trying really hard to sort it out, but 6 months is going on a bit. I feel really mean to the parents saying this but I think that little person sounds really fed up and might be better leaving the nursery until she is older and can deal with it better? I would be so upset if my DD was getting bitten - more than once and I would be really complaining. Just my opinion though so I hope I don't upset anyone.

DHW - I found the article! Its in JUly 2005 Easy Living. The lady who hires one out is Helen Westwater £200 a week botelet.co.uk

munz - sounds like you are on to a good deal with your boss - good on you! I like working p/t keeps me sane!

got pregnancy vits today so hopefully iron levels will improve!! also had huge amount of lamb last night and an orange! have a good weekend everyone!

desperatehousewife · 14/10/2005 18:37

Newgirl - very impressed you managed to find it! Will try and get a back issue (unless you felt like tearing article out and sending to me....?! bit cheeky asking that!) Looked up website - looks absolutely gorgeous, but no mention of yurts...?

Hi all, quite for the weekend eh! all got better things to do...I on the other hand have dh away, ss has gone with him, so just me, dd and bump at the ranch! and as dd has gone to bed, relativly quickly and quietly (bribed with chocolate tomorrow am for a treat) looks like mumsnet is it for me tonight
Munz I just mentioned it at booking in, and they told me I'd automatically be tested this time round?!

Cadmum · 14/10/2005 21:37

Evening Friz! It is quiet on here today. I am running away from my RL until swimming tonight in an hour...

Long, long, blue day here.

Twice even!

munz · 14/10/2005 22:04

ah friz- if only! just watched me dr who! and gonna go off to bed to watch dinnerladies - decided against troy when I noticed DH's taken the playstaion to camp so no DVD's for me for a while in bed. will mention it next week when I see the m/w as my g/nan had it, graddad and mum all on maternal side - so bst to be checked I think. (all type 2 I think - althou one was injections and one's tablets - don't know if that makes a differnece?) had a lot of GD as well.

anyhow swimming sounds fun cadmum. hope u have a nice time.

Frizbe · 14/10/2005 22:22

Tis rather quiet isn't it have fun swimming, no doubt I'll have drifted off to bed too, by the time you get back.

coppertop · 16/10/2005 12:35

Sorry for the delay in replying, everyone. I'm in Cambridgeshire. They apparently brought in the rule about not telling parents the sex (was going to say "the no sex" rule but it didn't sound quite right ) because there were a lot of cases of people in certain ethnic/religious groups who were having abortions when they found out they were expecting a girl. I can just about understand the rule but couldn't see what difference it would have made on the day I was being induced! Even the poor MW looked embarassed.

Spiker - This will be my 3rd baby. So far I've seen the community MW at about 10 weeks, had a dating scan at 12 weeks and some blood tests at the hospital at about 14 weeks. My booking-in appointment at the hospital is next week (just under 18 weeks, I think). My 20 week scan will be on 2nd November. It seems to all depend on where you live.

newgirl · 16/10/2005 12:49

dhw - i can reveal more! Helen Westwater runs a b and b and has a yurt in her garden that guests can request to stay in. Apparently a couple return each year on their anniversary. I can send it to you but other than a nice pic of the yurt (which is huge) there isn't any more info to glean. She has nice cushions and a burner in there if that helps! Sleeps 2-4!! I think it would be perfect business to rent to families 0 we for one, would be interested if you set up your business. We would like Moroccan food too (or is Mongolian?!)

Scan this friday!! Will keep you all posted. Rumour has it that I can ask the sex at this hospital - could all change in a week though!!

desperatehousewife · 16/10/2005 19:10

thanks newgirl! Sounds great - but is that link right that you sent me, cos there's no mention of a yurt for hire on the site...maybe I didn't look properly?

I am really serious about this business idea - I think it could really work - luxury camping which is really family friendly.

I am SOOO tired again all of a sudden. I thought that we were supposed to be full of energy in the 2nd trimester...

Hope you are all well and enjoying your week-ends. i am so looking forward to hearing about everyone?s scans. I just hope we all get good news and cooperative babies for those of us who would like to know the gender.

munz · 17/10/2005 09:46

morning all, v quiet w/e on here.

NG - u're scan's fridy as well yay!! what time is urs and LL's?

do any of u girls have any sharp pains when turning over in the night? on the right side? and doppler users - I can hear the heart all over the bump - is thath right or am I hearing something else? - startin to really worry about this scan coming up and that everythings gonna go wrong.

desperatehousewife · 17/10/2005 10:44

munz don't worry - stay calm!

doppler will pick up your heartbeat as well - anything low like 65 ish will be your h/beat. I can pick it up all over tummy. But the really fast one 165-175 tends to be in one place at a time. Maybe your baby is swimming around a lot when You're doing it - are you pressing down quite hard with the doppler - maybe it keeps tryign to get away from it!?

OP posts:
munz · 17/10/2005 10:45

did wonder that - it's normally on the left side (the faster/stronger one out of the two) the other side needs a bit of listening b4 it's picked up.

is it normal to be so worried about everything? 4.5 days to go - then up to town for a nice pub lunch.

poppyh · 17/10/2005 11:39

Munz, its completely normal to worry, just try not to!!I guess once you have your scan it will put your mind at rest.Baby is really moving now.My Dh can even feel it.Cant wait for scan will have to take my other 2 kiddies as dh will be at work and my scan is at 7pm!!Oh well baby normally really active at night.

munz · 17/10/2005 11:49

7pm! how many weeks r u pop? - I can hear some slight movement outside - but i'm sure it's the heart beat in my hand DH hasn't tried - keeps shaking tummy to get a responce!

Frizbe · 17/10/2005 11:54

Munz, don't worry pop's on her 3rd, dh can feel our beanie too sometimes, but its our 2nd (3rd if you count ss for dh) so seems to have all been felt earlier this time, I reckon cause dd gave me such a punching n kicking last time!
Cup of tea anyone, been on the go since 5.30am, and then got stuck on M1 on way back home from dropping ss back at school, am shattered!
Also just realised dh has taken dd to nursery, then kept the bloomin car seat with him, so looks like I've got to try and get her to walk home with me (har, har, har) its a couple of miles......sob.....

Frizbe · 17/10/2005 11:55

Oh DHW keep us informed re the Yurt, I could be tempted to come and stay in one!

munz · 17/10/2005 11:59

I will friz please - promise not to let it go cold - I have welsh cakes on offer - again! (got a real thing for them at the mo) having flutterings below bump - so quite reassured. (if not it's a hell of a lot of wind! lol)

when would be the normal time then for a first to feel outside kicks? - I was thinking about 24 -30 weeks ish??

do u have a lightweight buggy u could walk with incase DD gets tired?

(oooooooh and good news my cousin had a little boy over the w/e, so two of us left, one's def having a boy so by odds on I should have a girl! ) lol.

Frizbe · 17/10/2005 12:07

Munz, I've finished it! but I'll gladly have one of your welsh cakes, love them
Re buggy, alas no, tis in the car with dh and the bloody car seat! (I took ss up in the van this am, as car clutch is playing up, so figured rather get ss to school on time, than spend day broken down on side of M1....dh could happily break down on way to work on the other hand )

I remember dh feeling dd kick from about 20 weeks, usually when lying flat in bed!
