dhw - I saw an article about yurts in Easy Living I think it was a few months ago - it looked great fun. I think they were featuring a campsite in south of england somewhere but I can't remember where - looked excellent!

cadmum - I guess the clue is in the name!! Happy Thanksgiving enjoy the turkey?!

Munz - hope the juice was ok - I guess it would have tasted weird or fizzy if it had been manky. Depends how much vodka you put in it

munz · 10/10/2005 13:44

lol@ng - well there was this one time! lol, na it tasted fine - I only looked cos it's a new bottle. (well ok about 5 days old ish)

its thanksgiving already?

romilly · 10/10/2005 14:42

munz - i wouldnt worry about the juice, its only just out of date and apparently they are extra cautious on those use by dates anyway.

congrats to Friz and Rosieposie on 20 weeks also to Poppy and Munz on 19 wks and to Despwifey, Caddy and myself on 18 +

romilly · 10/10/2005 14:47

what are yurts???

also intrigued to know where coppertop is based to have such archaic rules inflicted on finding out about the sex - surely it is up to the parents

catj · 10/10/2005 16:21

Where I am (Bournemouth & Poole) they won't tell you but I'm sure they're not THAT draconian.

Frizbe · 10/10/2005 17:00

Nah munz juice sounds fine, re thanksgiving, thought it was nov?

desperatehousewife · 10/10/2005 18:21

rom - yurts are big canvas circular tents stretched over frame - ancient mongolian nomadic tents! Look a lot of fun.

Desperately need to go and check one out though!

newgirl - don't suppose you still have the mag with the article about yurts in it do you??? Or remember how long ago it was. Maybe I'll try contacting the mag direct....?

Cadmum · 10/10/2005 23:07

Back from lovely Thankgiving dinner. Turkey, stuffing, potatoes etc etc. Yummy and adult company. DS1 was less impressed because the children all ate in the kitchen and he thought it was less than reasonable that he should join them. He is 8!!!

Newgirl my MN name used to be Canadianmom but Munzie kept calling me Cadmum so I thought I would shorten it. Now I see that she calls me Caddy so maybe I will switch again...

I must feed my little road weary people. (It took 3 1/2 hours to drive home this evening ) Chat more tomorrow.

desperatehousewife · 11/10/2005 08:10

cadmum are you canadian, or just living there?

Lizzylou · 11/10/2005 08:28

Just trying to catch up with you girls...haven't we all been busy? Am "working" ahem..today so will be on MN most of the time!
DS is still waking at 5.30am, and DH still in London (although he was back at weekend and let me have massive naps on Saturday and Sunday which were fab!)...feel good at the moment, still look v fat instead of pregnant...but I don't care!
xxx

Frizbe · 11/10/2005 08:49

Glad you had a good dinner and good company cadmum! when was/is thanksgiving then? as you've confused us all (see thread below!)

Lizzylou I can relate to your early wakings today, dd decided to try it on at 4am (in retalitation for spending Sat eve at Granny's) so I did a Dr Tanya on her until she gave up and went back to sleep at 5.30...argh! managed to do it without shouting either!

Hope all are ok

munz · 11/10/2005 09:02

oh god - sorry cadmum I didn't realise that's why u changed! - it's only cos I use initals normally and CM on a TTC was a bit rude! so what goodies did u have for thanksgiving then? did u have eggnog/what is eggnog? I keep hearing about it.

chucked the juice - to be on the safe side. DH keeps calling me beanie mummy and patting (not rubbing) patting my tum - I think he's expecting a kick back! lol - wind up meerchant - still least he's taking more notice now i'm showing a bit more instead of thinkin i'm a hormonal cow!

romilly · 11/10/2005 13:22

lol @ CM munz - i think Caddy is def. nicer

Cadmum: happy belated thanksgiving, glad you got a good wholesome meal down you i actually managed a roast at the weekend which is a major breakthrough for me.

had to have more blood tests yesterday for anaemia - because i cannot take the iron tablets (HATE them!) so docs keeping an eye on me. i do feel dizzy and knackered this week though.

munz · 11/10/2005 13:49

rom - u go careful mrs with this iron. (can he not give u an injection? - the other girl in work has iron by injection every 3 months?)

managedd to get the afternoon off work as both lanes onto our farm is completely flooded - managed to get home thou for lunch well actually struggled but managed it - but wasn't prepared to go back thru lakes 25 meters long (biggest one) with a current running thru it - so they've left me have a half day - am currently trying to work on the other girls being allowed hom early as well - so far I think they're goin to come early - as the flooding literally came half way up my car door - (not quite to the top of the bonet - bloody good job to)

Cadmum · 11/10/2005 14:33

I am indeed Canadian. Both DH and I were born here and only lived in the UK for 4 1/2 years. All three of our children are also Canadian despite DS2 having been born in the UK. My father's family were originally from Norway but have been in Canada for generations and my mother emigrated from Scotland in the late 1960's to work as a nurse. DH's mother's family have been on the East Coast of Canada for generations and were originally from Scotland. DH's father's family emigrated from Denmark in the 1940's.

I found a web page that attempts to explain Canadian Thanksgiving here but the main reason that our Thanks giving is earlier than the American one (which is in November) is because it celebrates the harvest which is earlier here because we are further North... HTH

munz · 11/10/2005 14:35

ooh that's what it is, so yours is like our harvest festivals which u celebrate as a child/ a samahine type thing?

RosiePosie · 11/10/2005 15:45

Romilly, can you take a liquid iron supplement? I can't take the tablets either - they make me nauseous and constipated, but I'm taking Spatone, which is sachets of iron rich mineral water that you can mix with orange juice - it's tasteless if you do this and I don't have any side effects. . and they do the job! You can buy it in Boots. Another liquid one is Floradix which you can get from Holland and Barrett.

romilly · 11/10/2005 18:14

thanks for those two tips rosieposie - i have had both of those recommended to me verbally by my sis in law - but now you have spurred me on to get hold of some. i did mention spatone to my gp who looked at me clueless and said "never heard of it" stick with the ferrous sulphate tablets and see how you go. useless! like you, i have had real problems with the tablets, at both ends! one end it wont come out of and the wrong exit it does come out of, lol - (sorry to be gross, but you have to keep your sense of humour or else you'll just go mad!)

i am p* d off tonight cause i have just been v. sick again, after a few non-pukey days i was getting my hopes up. anyone else still having probs at 18+ weeks? isnt this when we are supposed to start feeling amazing?

if i meet one more woman at work who tells me she loved being pregnant and it was one of the happiest times of her life i swear i will projectile vomit there and then.

sorry for whinge, bad day.....

RosiePosie · 11/10/2005 18:53

Stupid GP'S! Sounds like the tablets have a similar effect on you as they do to me. . are you taking the tablets now? That could be why you are feeling sick again. Spatone is great, I've never met anyone it doesn't agree with. It's about £6.50 for a months supply, but worth it, I think. It's in a big orange box in the vitimin and supplement section of Boots. Most MW's have heard of it, so could be worth mentioning it to yours next time you see her. It's perfectly safe to take anyway, you can take one sachet a day if you are just trying to keep your iron levels up or two if you are actually anaemic. It's perfectly normal for your haemaglobin levels to drop quite a bit in pg, and rarely a cause for concern anyway - I just take the spatone for peace of mind.

romilly · 11/10/2005 19:02

i'm gonna get some spatone tomorrow rosie p.

unfortunately it is not the iron tabs that made me sick because i have refused to take those since a few weeks ago when i had my worst week ever.

i think its tiredness, i am seriously zombie like today

spiker · 11/10/2005 19:55

Floradix looks, smells and tastes just like fertiliser...it even comes in a bottle that looks like the old school 'Blood and Bone' that my Dad used on his tomatoes. Mind you it's still better than filthy iron tablets

Frizbe · 11/10/2005 19:56

Oh Rom, poor you, {{{Big Hugs}}} Hope it all goes away soon.

Munz! what caused the flooding, have you had lots of rain?

Cadmum, thanks for the education! good read that

romilly · 11/10/2005 22:20

lol spiker

thankyou for the hugs friz

early night for me
