babyonboard · 03/10/2005 19:52

Sorry..everyone..i always feel like i post too much..but i can't call my mum or friends as they will remember this and hold it against dp strongly..i don't know what to think.i am crying and actually willing dinner to burn so he will get home to a charred mess of a lovely dinner.

rodeo1 · 03/10/2005 19:57

Aw Bob! Don't chuck it in the bin, send it my way sounds yum! Ohh just hide it at the back of the fridge and don't tell him about it. Have it for another yummy lunch tomorrow! I hate it when dp snaps at me - have to say it is quite rare but it always makes me cry!

I've seen the posh baby mag, it's not P&B, not sure what it's called but I've seen it in WHSmith! Steered away from that one!

Just got back from Mothercare, got the last things of my checklist. Went with my Dad, he likes to make himself useful and goes about this by spending money on us - Bless him! Have tried to say 'Oh no Dad, it's ok' but it just seems to hurt his feelings - just his way of showing he cares I suppose. Dads eh?

Got a couple of those baby sleeping bags, they're on a get 2 save a tenner offer at the moment, never had them before but keep hearing good verdicts on them, has anyone else got one?

I'll have had my baby this time next week! WOW and ARGH at the same time!!! Oh God, I'll be in agony!!

hehe, I get the posh one on subscription and its called junior pregnancy and baby, it a great mag though i can def recommend, you may have to shop around for it a bit as its not as common as the other mags-ie not all places stock it, i find it really useful though as i find most other mags just go over the same things every month and its stuff i already know/have seen/have heard about so i find them a little dull. This one is great because its more informative and tells you about things that have just been researched etc for example this month had these articles-
*new research about c/secs and subsequent pregnancies
*research that has been done on pregnant scattyness
*worlds leading experts answer questions about birth
*article on morning sickness
*someones experience on giving birth in france
*about intervention in labour
and loads more!-sorry reading back i sound a little silly, but i love to rant about it as its a great mag, the best pg/baby mag ive read anyhow and ive read them all
ohh that reminds me, they also do a knitting pattern every month inside-which is where the pattern for ds's christening blanket came from which is stunning(the sort of thing john lewis or somewhere would sell for £90+)
the other month they had a little beanie hat and a cute cardi which makes me wish i could knit

ps i cant eat much at a time now either, it gives me stomach ache/indigestion/heartburn, so i tend to graze rather than have 3 set meals.

rodeo1 · 03/10/2005 19:59

Aw Bob, don't worry yourself about it. It'll be your hormones making you feel worse. I'm sure he didn't mean it to sound so brutal

OP posts:
rodeo1 · 03/10/2005 20:02

You'll just have to tell him that your hormonal at the mo, esp. after the stressful and upsetting weekend you just had, and that comments like that really upset you and can he refrain from snapping at you

OP posts:
babyonboard · 03/10/2005 20:06

thank god you guys are here.hehe..i was sobbing, probably irrationally..but these damn men should be more considerate! food is now on the kithen counter ready to be put in the fridge where he won't notice,
i am thinking about putting a couple in on high heat so they burn.just to drive the lesson home..hehehe
I think I have a copy of the 'posh one' and it did have more informative , and intelligent articles.rather than 'this is what an epidural is' ' this is how big your baby is'..etc etc
oooh...started crying again..damn hormones,,

Busyalexsmummy · 03/10/2005 20:18

BoB hehehe, thats exactly what I meant, the standered mags are a little patronising arent they!

ChaCha · 03/10/2005 20:29

LOL at the 'posh one' banter. Beginning to understand now. I agree with Busy on the mags going over the same thing again and again, there never seems to be much new but plenty of advertising!!

BoB - Awwwww! Sending you big hugs! Maybe he was just having a crap moment when you called him. You said his job hasn't been great and maybe he was under pressure. DH gets snappy too sometimes just make sure he comes home with a super box of chocolates to make up for it!!! xxx

babyonboard · 03/10/2005 20:54

yes,,the mags can be a bit silly, but maybe as i bought every issue i have heard it all before.still annoying to see a lovely baby jumper and then read that its £200 or so..hehhehee..
reminds me of my cousin, his wife bought their baby and dog many matching outfits from paul smith..eek! (but i secretly hope i get their hand-me-downs)
dp has thrown another emotional blackhole into the equation which i am trying not to think about now..and hope i don't unleash it on you girls..
happy days!

Busyalexsmummy · 03/10/2005 21:33

if you need to spill, feel free, were here to listen

SharonTW · 04/10/2005 02:23

hello ladies, here I am again at daft o'clock, couldn't sleep last night then slept til lunchtime dh been really tired lately with me tossing and turning all night so determined to let him sleep tonight. Back at work Wed so will have to get my sleep pattern back to some sort of normality by then. Only bothered about going back to do some training- just qualified to teach foundation food hygiene and want a go at it before I leave possibly for good.
Been very short of breath too lately, baby feels so high sometimes I get a bit panicky to be honest even a bath isn't enjoyable.
Also not much room for food so I've been picking as usual !
Anyone else in the north east (of England not London) still trying to decide on hospitals , there's a little community one in the place we (me and dh) were born but limited to pain relief and toliets in the corridor that visitors use too, not fab when you're in labour but will I care ?
Or there's the big fab one 15 minutes further on but not as friendly ??? can pay £30 a night nad have a private room en-suite ??
Noticed on stats I'm due as 26th Nov, my dates were changed though to 18th so am 33+4 now.
Everyone seems to be being a bit tight with name choices , come on give us a clue ??
We like Charlotte for a girl or Sam, and Tom or Jack for a boy, nothing set in stone yet though we'll see .
Well going to try and get some shut eye now after I've munched another few ice cubes ??
Night night or even good morning ladies x

Enthusia · 04/10/2005 07:19

Morning all

Sorry to hear you had a crappy evening BoB, especially as your cooking and plan for the evening seemed so lovely. When DH snaps at me it also makes me cry, even more now I am PG. He is also one of those men who will not realise they were wrong until he has fully calmed down, so there is no point trying to reason with him, or expect an apology at least until the morning. By then though he is distraught! When he was at his old job it was 100 times worse as it was as if I didn't exist at all, now with new job he is back to normal lovely self. Think others are right the job may have a lot to do with it. Doesn't help at the moment though! Hope you are feeling better this morning!

I have Drs this morning, which I am looking forward to and then tidying and cleaning for rest of the day I think. DH is away tonight and tomorrow - which we both found annoying as it was meant to be Daventry (a bit far to drive) but has now changed to North London which is an easier drive than he normally does, but company had already booked hotels so he can't get away with coming home!

On a great note though the company have agreed to me going up with him to Manchester and Liverpool next week, so I get to stay in some nice hotels and chill using their facilities for 4 days, and I won't be on my own at home hoorrayyyy!!!!

Bubs is moving loads now and I can definitely feel limbs etc whenever I touch the bump. Think it may have moved down a bit though as I have this funny sensation of something rubbing against my pelvis at the front. Not painful just weird. Will ask Dr today about it.

Well hope everybody is well

twinkle1 · 04/10/2005 08:33

cool enthusia,
what hotels and where about in manchester ????maybe we could meet for coffee???
Sharontw are we talking about guisboro v james cook????
Is this your first baby ??? maybe james c would be better as you have more options and labour is a bit unknown when its your first. I know lots of the midwivs at james c and they are very nice.
twinkle

Enthusia · 04/10/2005 08:50

Twinkle, am not sure about hotels yet, will hopefully know by Thursday. I think we are staying in Manchester for Sunday and Monday night, then travelling to Liverpool for the Tuesday night. So I think I would be around on the Monday for a drink if you were free!! I think we will be staying pretty central as the dealership is next to Man U football ground and there are tram links from there to the centre aren't there? Would definitely like to meet up though, will let you know more when DH finds out.

Right off to Drs

SharonTW · 04/10/2005 09:22

hi Twinkle yes it is ! How do you know ?
Been thinking more about this and am going to ring JC for a look around, think you're right for the first one bit safer feeling isn't it.
thankyou

Enthusia · 04/10/2005 10:31

Back from Drs

All is well. Apparently baby is in an excellent position and is now dropping down ready to engage. I thought he was as I could feel this funny rubbing against my pelvis. BP was excellen and we reckon that my earache is actually heartburn in disguise. I am not getting a burning sensation, more a pressure and I have realsied when I get this I also get the earache. So have been prescribed Gaviscon, but have to take it 3 times a day as a medicine, not when I get the heartburn.

Right it is a lovely day here so I am going to walk down to the shops.

ChaCha · 04/10/2005 10:36

Good morning ladies

The weather here is gorgeous, bright sunny skies and a crisp fresh breeze. It never ceases to amaze me how the weather can manipulate my moods.
Hope everyone is well. BoB - Are you feeling better this morning? How was your meal?
Sharon - I could have been up talking to you at that time but I was just too sick. Eventually settled back to sleep only to wake up with scary nightmare!!
Enthusia - You're globe trotting again!!! Take it easy though this time and might i suggest you try NOT to walk to and from the town centre if it's miles and miles away? Have you checked your map for the nearest Starbucks? I'm very jealous (in best possible way of course) that you're going to be pampered in hotel - can i come?

DH is home today so off out to enjoy a long walk, some shopping and the great weather. xxx

Diege · 04/10/2005 10:47

Morning everyone! Hope you are all well. Last day at work today, so of course getting my priorities right and logging straight onto mumsnet and ignoring festering in-tray! Sympathies BOB re: partner. I'm the grump in our family at the moment, snapping at everyone and frustrated by DH's efforts to help with dds' in morning rush (who's toothbrush is who's?; how do I do ponytails?: what does Jasmine neeed to take to school?; feels like an inexperienced homehelp sometimes . Very harsh I know, but frustrating too! Saw good joke in paper this morning about men and sickness: 'Kids get colds, men get flu', women get on with it' - like I'm so capable (not!),
Twinkle/Enthusia: could also meet up in manchester if it's not gatecrashing..Not on-line after today, but could probably access internet through local library at end of week? (I assume you can log on to forums etc at librbaries, or do they limit access?). Better get on with work...

Busyalexsmummy · 04/10/2005 10:52

Hi all, had a rotten nights sleep, went to bed at a respectable 10.30pm but as usual dp woke me up by getting ready for work at 5am, then ds woke up too and was screaming the house down so gave him some milk and went back to bed thinking"im not having a repeat of yesterday morning", anyhw, ds went back to sleep but i tossed and turned for ages, debated wether to get up and come on here but in the end drifted off till 8am! done all my cleaning, working my way through my washing pile slowly but surely and am just grabbing 5 mins to myself whilst ds is supposed to be having a nap!
I really want to start washing the babys stuff as most of its been in the attic for a yr 1/2 but there never seems to be a gap in our normal washing-its like neverending......!

On the name front some suggestions we have for a girl are:
Grace
Lily
Lottie
Freya
Fay

and for a boy-nothing! had a vivid dream last night and am certain this is anougher little boy!

sharontw-the one with onsuite etc sounds brill, nothing better than some privacy when youve just given birth, like you said, the toilets in the corridor is not really ideal, I had the same at the hossie with ds, and the ward was huge, so pleanty of people/visitors in and out all the time, not nice when id given birth 2 hrs previous and woke up pouring with blood(tmi soz) and had to walk across the ward and down the corridor to the loo and for £30 a night, I think thats really reasonable

Enthusia-must be good to hear that babys in the right position and ready to engage yay!

karmamother · 04/10/2005 11:29

Morning all! I'm absolutely worn out from the move but it's been good to sit down this morning & catch up with the posts. Sorry, I haven't read all of them so I hope I haven't missed anything important.
BoB - sorry to hear about your hospital stay, glad all well now.

Diege - my DS is called Oliver so I reckon its a cool name. Glad someone else thinks Oliver Wood from Harry Potter is good looking! I was a bit embarrassed to admit it as he's a bit young!

I'm surrounded by boxes & bits of furiture that need to be found a home, sigh. DP & I have stopped seeing the funny side of it last night. Basically, the house is too small so the loft will have to be used to store much of it. Preparations for the baby have been put on hold for now.

Woke up at 4am today & couldn't get back to sleep, hope this doesn't continue! DP said I should've woken him up which I thought was sweet until he confessed it was so he could have a bit of rumpy-pumpy. Men?

Well, more boxes to unpack. Catch up with you all later.

32+4

Enthusia · 04/10/2005 12:21

Karmamother - Know it sounds weird but I envy you moving. I love moving home and reorganising. We will be leaving our move till after Christmas now, and we don't know whether we will be switching areas or not, but I can't wait!!!!!

Had a nice walk into town, knackered now, but just in time for lunch and a nap. Had my eyebrows done again whilst I was down there so you can see my face again now.

Diege - would love you to join us, if that's alright with Twinkle! I will fill you in on movements when I get told them!!!!!

Ok lunch methinks!!

Enthusia · 04/10/2005 12:33

No wonder I am so knackered when I come back from walking into town. Have just been on Multimap and found out that town is 1.5 miles away from our house. So that means that after walking around town I have walked over 3 miles. I am sure you were fascinated by that piece of information, but just had to share it

goldenoldie · 04/10/2005 12:55

Enthusia - I'm impressed. I'm knackered just walking up the stairs at home now.

Sharon - £30 a night for an en-suite room is a complete bargain. I would take it like a shot, but know others here prefer the shared ward/facilities.

Like Busy I enjoy a bit of privacy after birth, especially when I am leaking out of both ends!

babyonboard · 04/10/2005 13:10

hi everyone..
things are fine with me and dp..his parents have unleashed their personal problems on us again..thats why he snapped last night..his mum had called him at work about it - not ideal!
they make me so angry..they ought to know we have our own things to worry about and their problem isn't something we should or want to become involved in..argh..
anyway rant over..
we have decided to go to Cornwall for the weekend..yey!..hope it doesn't rain though!
Enthusia..please send some of your energy over here! i feel so lazy..and doing so little just makes me even more so, hehee
I reheated one of the stuffed peppers for lunch..with mozarella on top..yum..will have to make them more often!

sarahsausage · 04/10/2005 13:36

Afternoon ladies,

Took a leaf out of busy's book and spent the morning putting pics of dd onto the my space thingy for anyone who likes to look at baby pictures! here Can you tell i'm trying to put off doing the housework?!

Oh the last photo on the album is dd wearing the cardigan i knit for her. Not bad for a first attempt if i do say so myself! Its actually wearable!

Off to make lunch
