BoB - This one is for you coke

novadandypowder · 13/10/2005 18:16

Bored by per chance Chacha and BoB?

I've had a fairly harrowing day on reception at the animal home - someone just came in and dumped their cat, someone else came in with a puppy that died within 5 mins of coming in, and we're trying to get everyone to sign the petition in the Sun today to get better animal protection laws. It makes me so and .

I didn't rate His Dark Materials, felt a bit cheated by the time I'd finished the last book.

I treat myself to a fun size can of coke at lunch time and feel very naughty doing that! If I'm feeling VERY naughty I go to the corner shop and get a full size can of cherry coke.

ChaCha · 13/10/2005 18:28

Bored Nova? Us? What on earth makes you think that?

Sorry to hear about poor cat & puppy. Sickening isn't it?

Good for you on your miniature fizzy drinks but doesn't make me feel in the least bit guilty. We all have our fetishes

Right, I shall bid you all a very good evening. Thanks Bob - It was good to chat even if it was just that. Take care all x

Diddle · 13/10/2005 20:29

Enthusia - got your message, thank you so much, its early days i'm sooooo nervous, but fingers crossed this is our turn hope all is going well with you, not long now.

Busyalexsmummy · 13/10/2005 20:48

Hi, been lurking past few days as have been reasonably busy and havent had a lot to say!

Rodeo-congratulations, wow how exciting!

SIL, the one due on 6th dec, went for her growth scan yesterday and ended up staying in as her blood pressure was 140/90 and they found protien in her urine, apparently shes being kept in tonight aswell while they monitor her,Im presuming that its pre-eclampsia...not great news for her as shes only 31+weeks and her ds was born 4lb 14oz at term, so I cringe to think how small her baby might be at this stage if they end up delivering her.

Im off to see my consultant at the same hospital tommorrow, also for a growth scan, to check babies size and if there is some concern discuss where to go from here, will log on and let you know how that goes tommorrow

Beksmum and BoB, thanks for support and offer of help in case of need for action - yes he is stone age+arrogant+grumpy git - tbh doubt very much i'll take up legal action (don't think things are that bad, my outrage is disappointment in direct proportion to how much I put in to co. Anyhow, think i just need to redress the balance of 'power' in my working relationship with him - perhaps think about going freelance when i return...that way I can manage my own time.

Enthusia, yellow swelling sounds v scary.

nova - dying puppy ..awful....

btw what does SPD stand for?

All this talk of coke has made me very thirsty, we have one solitary can in our fridge - it has been there for 4 weeks. but we have do not have straws....

mum is coming over today - i'm really looking forward to it!

Londoner · 14/10/2005 09:33

Good morning all!

... and CONGRATULATIONS to the Rodeo1 family!. How lovely to hear of your baby girl's safe arrival, and hopefully you're all settling in at home together today.

Just wanted to log on and say hi, before I lose any more ground.... have been busy with daughter's b.day party/post-party inevitable chaos up til now... and now preparing for youngest son's birthday & party on Sunday.... speak soon!

sarahsausage · 14/10/2005 09:42

Good Morning!!

Exciting day today, sister is in hospital in early labour! She has been having contractions for the past 2 nights but was sent home from hospital on wednesday night just 1cm, was having regular contractions since, went into hospital at 3am this morning and is still only 2cms so they put her on a ward and as far as i know shes not gone to the delivery suite as yet. Looks like she's in for a loooooooooooooooong day.

Cha-cha -- i was exactly the same as you with coke when i was pg with dd, and as dps mum and dad run a newsagents, i had it pretty much on tap (lived with them until i was 8 months pg) and put on LOADS of weight, was a size 12/14 pre pregnancy and was an 18 afterwards . This time though i find i can only drink half a can and i feel really sick. Have a thing for really cold water with loads of ice in this time, dp hates it because i crunch the ice when the waters done, says the noise makes him cringe!

Enthusia - how do you do it? im only 33 weeks and i find im cream crackered when i just walk 5 minutes to the shop and back!

Well better go sort out dd, shes demanding grapes!

Enthusia · 14/10/2005 10:32

Morning all

Woke up this morning thinking 'this is it!' Had a really weird lower back pain (which I have never had before) a strange tightening in the bump and that weird crampy period pain low down. When I tried to sit up I thought I was going to throw up, felt quite rough and really weird. However went back to bed when DH left and the pains are not there now, although I also feel as I am not here either.

Also am feeling really guilty as can't quite be bothered to do anything and there are a few things that need doing before we have people round tomorrow. Doesn't feel right getting DH to do it when he has been at work all day, and it is pretty demanding for him at the mo. I feel really odd! Maybe another sleep will do the trick and I will wake up when I open my eyes this time.

Is this what the 3rd trimester is meant to feel like? Have been full of beans since now, this just feels strange! Had a crying fit last night over nothing, DH was great though, and also cried at the sight of a pampers ad this morning, am I going nuts???????

Please fill me up with beans again, don't like this!!!!!! Roll on the weekend.

Hope everyone else is having a 'full of beans' day and this is just a blip for me.

36 weeks today

mamman · 14/10/2005 12:07

Hi all
I finally finished work on Wed and feel like a new woman - having naps in the day and generally taking it alot easier. Also starting to think about packing a bag etc. Baby still breech so have scan next week to see what can be done - dont really want a CS with a 2year old and new baby. Sorry to be personal but does anyone else have pile - I am suffering terribly this time round - it is miserable.

Laylasmum · 14/10/2005 15:26

Hi
Yes mamman i've got a horrid pile!! Had since very early on and it goes through stages of being really sore!! Oh the joys of pregnancy!

Have had a DD free day today so have cleaned out 4 of my kitchen cupboards - don't think its nesting just that I don't otherwise get the chance.

Midwife came yesterday to do home birth visit.Seems relatively straight forward as long as I can cope i guess. Have left it open thiugh so that if things don't happen as i'd like i'll go into hospital anyway main thing is that DD has to be gone from the house!! Do not wamt mother or MIL there looking after her while i'm mooing in pain !!

Have started my leave and been off for a week now
but I think i'm more tired being at home tbh. Having said that I am doing 2 sessions of giving flu jabs one tomorrow and one next weds as its very easy money that we could really do with , guess i will feel like i'm properly on leave when thats all over!!

Anyway hope all are ok.Any more symptoms Enthusia? Keep us all posted xxx

babyonboard · 14/10/2005 16:03

how exciting sarah, best wishes to your sister..let us know what is happening!

Nova..sad story with the animals..but hooray! this morning they announced that they have changed the law, doubling prison fines and inposing a lifelong ban on people who mistreat animals..I'm sure plenty of people will get away with it stil lthough, it's so sad.
There was a 'craze' near my mums house where teens were tying cats to railway lines..not nice at all!...

I just felt like an utter fool in sainsburys..I was craving corn on the cob and hummous so dragged my ass all the way there, and at the till realised I didn't have my purse in my bag! the lady behind me offered to pay, which was very sweet but luckily i found had my nectar card - shame though - those points would be better spent in adams!

Dp picked up the boots freebies for me yesterday, but I was a bit dissapointed, the changing bag contained a bottle of baby bath and one maternity pad..boo..didn't some of you get much more than that? the avent set was good though, and I guess it's free so I should shut up complaining. hope i will still recieve the 'mummy' vouchers...

chacha..guess you found something to enteratin yourself today! did you get the coke!? hehehe
you should keep an emergency stock, as if preparing for war...

i'm totally stuffing myself...lots of corn with lots of butter, seedy bread and hummous and mangoes and strawberries..yum..
will make me feel less guilty at having hot chocolate and croissants for breakfast..hehe

karmamother · 14/10/2005 20:23

Evening all.

Wow, 3 days away & so much has happened. Congrats to Rodeo & I hope both parents are getting enough sleep.

ChaCha - lol at the coke....makes you sound like Kate Moss!! I used to drink an incredible amount but I stopped all consumption about 2 years ago. I did the Carol Vorderman Detox thingy, then started using the Gillian McKeith plan so all caffeine was out. Needless to say, once PG, all I wanted was big fattening dinners, fish & chips followed by huge bars of chocolate. Thats why I ended up with GD, I guess.

JenJam hope you get some resolution with your boss. I was interested when you wrote about dp possibly not helping as much when bubs is born. I went through that with ds. I foolishly thought that mummy & daddy would work together to bring up baby. WRONG!! Mummy does 90% whilst Daddy manages a feeble 10% (on a good day)!! Sorry, that was meant to be kind words of support but they came out as a rant!!

Yes, I too seem to be developing bizarre aches & pains that weren't there before. Bubs is STILL BREECH so I'm staring a section in the face. I know she has time to move, & everyday she has a bloody good try. She gets her head about level with my naval then gives up. I'm in 2 minds about the RLT & perineal massage. Might be a waste of time....

All this talk of tasty food is also making me sad. Like the majority of women, I use food to cheer myself up so I'm really struggling when I'm at the supermarket & I see rows of choccies. The only advantage is I've stopped putting weight on, but I'm worried that once not pg, I'll start overdosing on chocolate again. HELP!!

novadandypowder · 15/10/2005 08:34

Enthusia welcome to the final month! Sounds like you're hitting the wobbly time I hit a few weeks ago.

This may sound strange but I think I may be in the early stages of labour. The midwife said yesterday that the baby was so low down that she'd be surprised if I lasted until 40wks, and at 9pm last night I started getting period style cramping. It's been on and off all week, but last night it wouldn't go away and has now settled itself into what I guess are contractions that are about 8-10 mins apart and last 30-60 secs. I'm also quite 'leaky' and have been sick with diarrhoea. Is it my imagination or can you be in false labour?? I didn't have the heart to say anything to DH this morning before he left for paintballing because he's been looking forward to it for weeks, but I may have to cancel my girlie lunch if it carries on like this. Wasn't able to sleep either.

Hmmm I'm sure I'll be back on later feeling a bit silly for over reacting

BEKsmum · 15/10/2005 11:11

Morning Nova, wow does sound promising, post on the childbirth threads and see if Mears is around if Twinkle isn't as she's a midwife and will be able to tell you.

If you're still feeling the same way try to get as much rest as you can today and eat little and often to give you a store of energy. Being your first it will probably take you quite a few hours to go into established labour anyway.

Also take a warm not hot bath if the pains go away then it will be a false alarm & if it is labour it will just help with the pain. Have you got anyone who can be with you till your dh gets home?

The best thing to do is phone your mw she willl be able to tell if you are really in labour.

Will keep everything crossed for you, keep us posted if you can and good luck. BEKs

karmamother · 15/10/2005 11:47

Good luck Nova!!If this is the start of your labour & you want it to progress then keep active. Obviously, waiting for DH to return first might be a good idea. Resting at this stage of labour can slow it down a bit. Ditto about eating something to keep your energy levels up.

Ooh, this is getting very exciting. Keep us posted, Nova. (it'll help take your mind off the pain)

goldenoldie · 15/10/2005 13:23

Fingers crossed Nova.

twinkle1 · 15/10/2005 16:30

evening all,
just got out of the hospital
i STARTED WITH A pain under my left rib on tue and it got worse till i went to the drs thur.he sent me straight to delivery suite. To cut a long story short i have had every test known to man and woman, i dont have lupus ,leporasy and im not having a heart attack!!! was very glad about all of this. They have finally found oput that pain is coming from cartilage in between by ribs splitting apart prob caused by been sick a lot. The bad news is no immidiate cure just pain killers and anti sickness stuff. If i was male and not 8 months gone i could have had a corset fitted but not in my present condition. The good thing is the baby is fine we had a fetal wellbeing scan and said it weighed almost 5lbs and had big feet!!! must be going to take after its brother and sister. They rekon when i have the section it will weigh around 6lb-6lb13oz so it will be much the same as the other two. They asked if i wnated to know the sex but i decided to keep it a surprise
I hope you are all well im off for a rest now
twinkle
34+2

karmamother · 15/10/2005 17:10

Wow, Twinkle...glad to hear you're ok. Do the painkillers get rid of the pain? Must have been a bit scary. Remind me...why are you having a section?

twinkle1 · 15/10/2005 18:54

karma,
Im having this section cos basicaly its section number 3 and baby is periodically breech
Sadly the painkillers take the edge off the pain but dont come close to getting rid of it the cyclizine is good at stopping the sickness though.
twinkle

karmamother · 15/10/2005 19:06

Is the sickness a new prob, with the pain? Glad to hear the cyclizine is working. I'm suddenly more interested in sections as my bubs is breech, & together with the GD (she is a bigger baby than she should be) I really feel I'm lurching headlong into a section. Trying some of the optimal fetal positioning techniques I've picked up on here. Next stop = bag of frozen peas! I think, on balance, I'd rather have an elective section at 38 wks than be induced, coerced into having an epidural, attempting a vaginal breech delivery of a humongous baby!! I would like to maintain some semblance of a sex life after I've birthed this hefty child of mine!

twinkle1 · 15/10/2005 19:21

Karma
my second section was planned because she was breech. It was a great birth experience very little pain and i was only in hosp for two days
This was a stark contrast to birth number 1 which was a failed induction and then emergency c/section quite traumatic. So i am quite happy with having a planned section this time.I had sickness before this rib thing, i always seem to throw up at the end of my pregnancys
twinkle

karmamother · 15/10/2005 20:13

This is my first baby with DP & I was kind of looking forward to seeing how he copes with me in labour. His ex-wife had labours lasting an hour each......it took me 45 hrs to deliver my ds!! If I need a section, I have this mental image of him in theatre scrubs. He's rather broad...plays rugby, & I can just imagine there won't be gear to fit him so he may end up squeezed into small scrubs. LOL!! I might get him to do the skin to skin whilst I'm being stitched up!!

novadandypowder · 15/10/2005 20:37

Baby Natalie born today at 18:53, weighing in at 6lb 13oz. Baby and mum doing well. Will write when back home

tessasmum · 15/10/2005 20:42

Wow, that was quick!! Obviously was the real thing then

CONGRATULATIONS to all in the Nova household.
