LOL @ sitting on your head..he heee!!

I managed to get myself off to sleep last night with a dream that I was carrying 16 babies!!!! You see, in order to sleep well I was told that I had to move in a certain way to get the 16 babies down to just one. So in my dream (and perhaps in reality) I was moving around in different positions until i finally got comfortable and confirmed that there was only one baby left! WTH?!? Well, it obviously did the trick as I got to sleep for those few hours. Also my m/w was with me in the hospital while we signed some forms and I was very calm wearing new PJs (something I have an obsession about at the moment) - told m/w about her being in the dream and all was well, m/w was very chuffed, lol.

I've read Northern Lights but haven't managed to get onto the other two, they are sat on the shelves waiting for me. I absolutely love the idea of the daemons, I mean i believe in something similar myself, it's like the soul you know..anyway will leave that for a spiritual discussion.

I'm still trying to decide what to order for lunch because most places here don't start delivery till post 5pm. I am in desperate need of coke! Do you think it's cheeky to ask local shop to deliver a few bottles of the fizzy stuff? They do a delivery btw.

ChaCha · 13/10/2005 15:01

Pooooh! After reading out my list and going through each item one by one the lady told me that they wouldn't deliver until 6!!! I think I am really going to have to get off my butt and make the trip to the shop. Got to have my coke dose.

babyonboard · 13/10/2005 15:13

He hee hee...what a funny dream..and i guess probably related to the reality of it being so awkward to get comfortable in bed!
I have a double duvet folded in half under me these days (probably doesn't help my back ache!)
which I can squish into whatever shape is best.

I agree with the daemons thing..especially given they take on a permananent form after puberty..i think it's true of most people your essence doesn't or can't really change after that point..i would say something more clever but my brain just doesn't operate like it used to..
i was reading through some old uni essays the other day and couldn't believe I had understood or come up with half the things in them..hehehe

babyonboard · 13/10/2005 15:16

and I so know what you mean about the coke..I have to have mine with half a glass of ice and a straw or it just doesn't taste the same..
in fact straws and ice are quite an odd thing I've become addicted to whilst preg. i even have them in a glass of water or milk..
Is there nowhere that can deliver to you?, or is the shop close by?

JenJam · 13/10/2005 15:21

I love the idea of becoming a mummytiger!
Go go G-O 10th November; how great it is to have a date!

I am feeling much better now thank you all very much. Just having some people in the same boat to talk to helps.

Buggy and car seat just delivered...i'm excited to open the boxes

hands and feet still swollen but midwives at ucl say its normal and they've seen worse.

Today i had my 36 week appt with doctor (I have shared care) and he said I have white blood cells in my urine (haven't done a google yet to fully understand what that could mean) but he thinks it is a bladder infection of some sort and has prescribed anti-biotics CEPHALEXIN which are 'UNKNOWN to have any effects in pregnancy'. and just in case, thrush cream and pessary. aparently results won't be back until MONDAY. that's ages. so he suggests I take both (!) my poor baby will be overloaded with drugs. not sure whether to hold off until Monday, has anyone else had any experience of anti-biotics or thrush remedies during pregnancy. is there any risk at all?

i'm going to do a search on the net and then take a nap

tessasmum · 13/10/2005 15:47

BoB - read Dark Materials trilogy last year and that was what I was thinking about for after Harry Potter! I find that the only time I get to read now is before going to sleep so need something that's not too taxing/exciting, especially as when the baby arrives I'll be lucky if I manage 2 pages before falling asleep with glasses/light on and book on my head

JenJam - glad you've got something to take your mind off things. We spent hours playing with Tessa's pram when it arrived though some of that was trying to decifer Spanish instructions!
Talking of which, have those with new Jane prams tried the lie-flat car seat out in the car yet? It takes a bit of practice that's all.

Off to lie on sofa with Tessa and Cbeeebies

ChaCha · 13/10/2005 15:51

Jenjam - Try posting something on the Pregnancy thread - am sure there will be some advice on there if not here anyway. Congrats on delivery (of the non-crying kind anyway!)

BoB - Same here...lots of ice and a straw please! Funny isn't it? Last night I had a massive take-out coke (I am actually drooling at the thought, how sad) with fries and chicken burger but had such an intense BH during my meal I ended up being sick DH reckons its because I fill myself up with so much coke there is no room for anything else hence the sickness. I think not!! Bring on the coke.... So glad I have an online drinking buddy, LOL

Speaking of daemons, I loved the image of the golden monkey!! Think that one was my favourite.

Am too lazy to walk to shop, terrible i know. This is the same woman who commuted for 2 hours a day to and from work.. hmmmm.

babyonboard · 13/10/2005 16:07

Jenjam..eek..hope it's okay!..
but I very much doubt the doctor would prescribe anything harmful..mine at least is very cautious, when he prescribed me paracetemol for spd he put on the prescription that the pharamacist should break them all in half..she found it hilarious and asked if I could be trusted to do that myself!?..teeheee

chacha..lol..at 'straw and ice please'..for a while I was pilfering extra ones in cafes and takeaway places and bringing them home , then relaised i could probably buy some in sainsburys..hehehehe

chacha - I am a bit odd with it too..for chocolate nesquick i have a green straw, for coke - pink, orange for water, and blue for milk or fruit juice.
dp finds it hilarious, he put a straw in my cup of tea the other day..hahahaha...

I alternate between depsrate cravings for coke and 7up..and also end up having loads before and during meals and feeling bloated and nauseous...your dp is probably right..

I loved the golden monkey too...aaaw...what would your daemon be?

I am hungry..just made an enormous potato salad which I thought i really wanted but very time I open the fridge door and smell it I fell sick...so silly!

babyonboard · 13/10/2005 16:10

ooops for addressing soem of my post to chacha..then chacha...hehehehe

Enthusia · 13/10/2005 16:48

Hiya all

Cor that took me nearly an hour to catch up on!!!!

Welcome Jessica and well done Rodeo - can't wait to hear the details. Hope you are enjoying your time with your new little one!

Diddle - huge congrats, will track you down on other threads to congratulate you too!!!

JenJam - So sorry to hear about your boss etc, just try and relax and enjoy these last few weeks of peace, I imagine after the little one arrives everything will seem different yet again.

ChaCha - Sorry you are still ill etc, lets hope it in not quite 6 weeks or that your symptoms start to disappear!!!! BTW - Also loved His Dark Materials although got lost in Amber Spyglass so need to go back and start again, didn't continue and that was over a year ago, hope I can remember the others when I start again.

Twinkle and Diege - I loved our meet up and couldn't believe how quickly the time passed. I hope you both got back alright!!!!! Twinkle I loved hearing all the MW stories and you made me feel so much better about the whole birth and having it in hospital etc, even if that was because I hadn't realised some things you pointed out in great detail . Diege, hope your baby waits for the arrival of the TENS machine and that nothing dramatic happens in the library, can just see you leaving behind a nice little puddle of water one day!

Twinkle - how are the contractions - had anymore????

BoB - I take it there have been no other leaks???? did you do the paper towel experiment?

Londoner - how exciting about your homebirthing kit, that makes everything seem closer doesn't it?

Sorry if I have missed anyone else out not intentional I promise!

Right will give you a break and write my news on a new message, also couldn't bear it if computer crashed after writing all that!!!

ChaCha · 13/10/2005 16:52

BoB - I've just seen your latest recipe and am thinking Tex Mex for tea! DH will be dining out and fajitas or enchiladas for one sound great (as does large coke, am on the countdown for that - 60 mins to go) Also noticed your mention of potato salad - what the hell are you trying to do to me?

I can't believe you use coloured straws!!!! That is a classic! I too often alternate between coke and 7up with lemon but nothing beats a coca-cola (am seriously thinking of some strategic marketing for coca-cola company - I should earn a living from this). I tried some cherryade for a change but it made me sick, yuk.

Your question about the daemon is far too intense. Would take a lot of thought and contemplation don't you agree? The subject is fascinating and I don't want to bore anyone here..maybe we could start our own thread on this, i'm sure it would make for some good discussion. I'm intrigued already!

babyonboard · 13/10/2005 16:56

Hi enthusia..
i know what it's like to leave this thread for a few days..takes forever to catch up, then you feel bad if you missed out on anyones important news..hehehe
if you can't already tell by my hounding of this thread today..i am very bored!
I did do the paper towel thing..felt very silly and did get some leakage but it wasn't the amniotic fluid, and nothing more has happened..
just horrified that I may have been wetting myself and couldn't feel or know it!?

I read the first two books really fast, the nit was a couple of months until we got the third but I remembered it all...i must say they seem more suited to adults than kids..wha tkind of age do you think they are aimed at!?

oh dear..i must stop blahing at you all and do something useful....ho humm..

babyonboard · 13/10/2005 17:01

chacha..enchiladas are best if you are cooking just for yourself as you can put them in the fridge and have one for lunch the next day, or freeze them if you want...
I'm just about to go get some coke now..the question should be what are YOU doing to me..with all your coke talk..hehehe
luckily our shop is only three doors away..not bad!

Enthusia · 13/10/2005 17:05

Ok

My news

Well had a great time in Manchester, Liverpool and Warrington. Liverpool was definitely the best as we were in a swanky hotel and DH finished early and we had a very romantic dinner and walk around the city. Also hotel had a health suite so I just laid in the pool, floating on the surface relaxing for about an hour, twice during the day.

Manchester's hotel was called 'The Golden Tulip' and yes was just as dire as the name suggested. And Warrington was The Village - which was ok, but DH finished really late and by yesterday I was knackered so ended up spending 6 hours in the lobby reading. Did get through 3 books over the whole 3 days though!

Didn't leave Warrington til gone 7 last night so dinner was a service station Burger King and we got in at around 11pm.

Over the three days I walked, God know how many miles, but yesterday I realised I must have over done it as was just going into a shop when I realised I couldn't bend my arm (was trying to open the door) my right arm had swollen so much it was a yellowy colour and was unbendable. I completely freaked, esp when I then looked at my fingers and could hardly see my rings (I have not swollen during the whole of this pg) Anyway, walked as quickly as I could (got overtaken by a women with her zimmer frame) to Starbucks where I ordered a huge hot chocolate and sat for over an hour until my body had returned to normal! Was very scary!

Also to add to this pg symptom, I have also ballooned to the point where 3 seperate people in Tesco today said I was huge (where did being small go?)and that is without being swollen (I have returned to normal now). I also am getting quite a bit of paint from my pelvis which comes and goes very quicly and which I am sure is the head. It is so intense at times that I found myself crossing my legs ind wincing in the middle of Warrington, am sure the rest of the shoppers thought I needed a pee!!!! I am sure the pain isn't SPD, it feels different to how that is described and comes and goes with no rhyme or reason. Also bubs is now huge inside me. I am constantly finding limbs sticking out, so that when I look in the mirror (with clothes on) I can see things protroding!!!!!!! Also my tummy feels really tight all the time. It is as if I have skipped a few moths of PG and they have all come at once. I think I am a lot bigger than the meet up on Monday, as does DH who got really worried at my size yesterday. He had been at work, then came to pick me up and actually swore when he saw me as I was so huge and bump was so tight!!!! Is this all normal?

Sorry to bore anyone by the way!!!

Anway today I got up with DH at 6.30, then went back to bed until 10.30 - tidied up and did washing etc until 12, where I promptly fell back aslepp until 3. Am now feeling tired again, so micght go for another nap soon, I really do feel as if it has all caught up with me now!!!!

Anyway, better go so I don't bore you all too much. Speak soon

35+6

babyonboard · 13/10/2005 17:06

oooh..and had to add..potato salad..mmm
we use sweet potatoes, rtaw red onuon and spring onuion, a mix of mayonaisse, chopped garlic, herbs, olive oil and a tiny dash of worcester sauce...mmmmmmmm
but I still don't want the damn thing! hehehe
I will have to hold out for dinner but I suspect dp will come in starving and much all the potato salad and then not want anything else...

babyonboard · 13/10/2005 17:14

enthusia..sounds lovely to have been in the hotels and relaxing a little..but the scary swellings!..eeek!
laughing so much at you being overtaken by a lady with a zimmerframe...sorry!?
I have actually had old ladies offer up their seat on london buses..they are the only people that ever do for some reason...and I oiously refuse, then glareat all the teens and others obliviously hogging the seats.
Hashe swellng calmed down? could it just be a surprising growth spurt affecting your body or is it all over?

babyonboard · 13/10/2005 17:23

Enthusia..meant to add...but my brain is slow..
the pain you described sounds like what I am getting, it is seperate to the spd and feels like a sudden hit of painful pressure, or just a dull weighty kind of ache..it's hard to describe...
I was expecting to be able to se bits protrude from all the stories from my mum and aunts, but the only part this baby seems to want to poke right out is what I assume is his bum..he will push right out so i get a big lump around my belly button..the first time it happened I was in the bath, and I promptly ran the cold tap worrying that the water was too hot and he was trying to escape..teehee

BEKsmum · 13/10/2005 17:30

Afternoon girls, You lot are funny, what are you like with coke, straws and food, you've even managed to make me feel hungry!

Had a strange night last night as dh was called for work at 4am and as the computer is in our bedroom I could hear him tapping away until Ben got up at a quarter to eight this morning! The most annoying thing was I was awake from 3am as my hips were killing me and then when I did get to sleep having the luxury of the whole bed to myself I'd either snore & wake myself up or fidget and set the pain off again - arrgghhh!!!!

One bonus was that as dh had worked for 5 hours by the time he should have gone to work he stayed home for the rest of the day, which was really nice as it gave me a stress free morning before I saw the consultant.

I'm glad to say all is well enough with me, I've got to go and get my blood pressure & some blood taken at the hospital twice a week from now on in but have managed to leap frog 10 days and have a due date of the 3rd November now, which makes me 37 weeks today - hooray. The consultant laughed at my confusion over dates and said I should pray for the 3rd, hope for the 7th and feel hard done by if I make the 13th - which I thought was quite amusing. Going backwards and forwards to the hospital is going to be a pain but hey ho a girls got to do what a girls got to do.

Spent the rest of the afternoon decorating lemon drizzle cake for dh's b'day as Ben wanted to make daddy a cake but bad mummy couldn't be arsed so we had fun decorating one instead. Needless to say as soon as it was doen Ben wanted to cut it so dhis having an extended b'day between now and Saturday.

Glad to hear everyone is doing ok at the moment another week is nearly over, it seems like Monday to Friday are rolling into one at the moment.

Right am going to go and do some clearing up as mum & dadget back tonight and the house looks a tip, not that they'll care, but it will bother me - sad but true. peak to you all later BEKs

BEKsmum · 13/10/2005 17:34

Sorry meant to say Jenjam, your boss is out of the stone age, I can't believe he is behaving as he is.

If you want to get your case together while you're at home give ACAS & the CAB a ring, they will be able to help you get it sorted, but to be honest I had a boss with the same sort of opinions and when Ben came along I couldn't be arsed to put myself out for him any more, as I knew that whenever I needed time off if ben was sick it would have been a nightmare. Start looking for something new where a fresh start will work with a new baby.

If you do get stuck let me know and I'll bring my brain out of hiding and dust it off and try to get more info for you as it used to be my field a long time ago!!! Beks

ChaCha · 13/10/2005 17:43

ROFL @ running of cold tap......LOL
Oh my! I had a good laugh again today reading the thread on unsupportive partners during pregnancy. The poor woman whose DP asked if she'd been to the toilet as he didn't want to be embarrassed if she 'crapped herself when she pushed'...oh my days!!!! And the one whose DP's friend stayed leaving wet bum print on loo seat!!!
BoB - You are really rubbing it in today kiddo!! I hope the coke gives you heartburn!!!!
Only kidding...hee hee heeeeee!

Enthusia - Welcome back! I've missed your happy vibes It is good to see ya. Hotel no.1 sounds fab, we are hoping to go away just for the night before baby's arrival to do something similar. I am sick of being at home TBH and he agrees that we need some alone time away. What else did you get up to then? Ohh...the thought of floating on water is just lovely right now. Yes, a big pitcher of coke on ice by poolside sounds very tempting. Will be lucky if i get glass of coke by PC at this rate....

ChaCha · 13/10/2005 17:54

Beks - Crossed posts there!
I'm not sure what's wrong with me but I'm finding everyone's posts hilarious. I was LOL @ your 'bad mummy couldn't be arsed'! It's the thought that counts and you did decorate it afterall!
Wow, another 37 weeker!! Amazing. I am just about at 34. Doesn't sound like much fun having to traipse back and forth to the hospital but at least it's not for long and well worth it (says the voice of experience...NOT) Also your consultant sounds really nice which probably helps.
Know what you mean about tidy house. I have a pile of dishes (em..piles i should say) on our dining room table as i started to clean out cupboards but couldn't get everything back in. It's been like that for days now. Before poor friend was through the door this morning I was already apologising for mess on table and crumbs on the rugs (find hoovering too hard). She looked at me like I was going a little senile (mother of two little boys, wonder why?) so shut up promptly and decided it wasn't worth explaining anything else. I actually thought of you today when she came round, we were supposed to spend the afternoon together but on return from m/w her little boy was really tired and she couldn't get a minute to sit and chat and so decided to take him home for a sleep before picking up DS1 from nursery. She looked so tired as well, i think you really give up a lot when you have kids. Of course, I will be the exception!!!

I'm the chat master today. WTH? Must be something in the water. COKEEEEEEEEe....

babyonboard · 13/10/2005 17:58

chacha..not to make you jealous but i just got three cans of the good old coke for 99p! I love costcutters!

and i too missed enthuia's 'enthusiatic' posts..you put us all to shame just casually mentioning something quite awful that happened..but then going on with the positive and funny side of it..hehehe

Jenjam..hopfully it doesn't come to such situation, but when my mum had my brother we were living in a pub, which she had sole management of (he owned it but left everything upto her)and he kicked us all out and told her not to come back ewhen she was 6 months pregnnat..she then had my brother very early which she still blames on the stress, and took him to an industrial tribunial and won...i know the stress of fighting for your rights is too much for now, but if he causes trouble when you are ready to go back to work I agree it's best to stand your ground and fight for your rights.

babyonboard · 13/10/2005 18:01

oh..and sorry but i forget everything..jenjam...lmao at 'bad mummy' comment. to be honest I've never made a good cake in my life..and I reckon a bought one, home decorated, will be more succesful!

babyonboard · 13/10/2005 18:02

grrr...meant that last post for 'beksmum'..like i saY..UNRELIEABLE BRAIN!

ChaCha · 13/10/2005 18:07

LOL
Think I should change user name to LOL.
I forgot my keys this morning Twas lucky that DH was working nearby. Friend really must think I am loopy. Also forgot to tell reception that I'd arrived for m/w appt and made my way upstairs. Sat for half hour in waiting room until m/w opens door with look of 'WTH are you doing here?' until I realised she'd been waiting for me and didn't know I was there - had not come up on PC!!! The shame of it.

My coke has still not arrived. DH is gonna get it.
