A sad day ladies..I tried to cut my toenails and realised suddenly it was quite awkward getting round the bump and burst into tears. Yet another bit of independence to say goodbye to shortly!

Actually on a practical note..how do ladies manage this during pg? No-one here to help me til February...and DH is more used to removing toenails than pampering them so not sure I'd want him to help anyway. Then he goes away again til June...I'd have talons for nails by then!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 02/01/2011 15:45

TTL - that woman was sooo rude to you Angry
Hope you are okay!

Victoria - only a 5% chance baby will arrive on that day though Smile

Banana - tbh a lot of the stuff the NCT do, like the NCT sales, the shop, bumps and babies groups you can go to without being a member.
Being a member just means you can go to the meetings and vote in the AGM.

Found the blog I wrote when pg with DS, first felt movements with him at 19.5 weeks, and proper kicks at 21 weeks!

Definitely feeling flutters now, will be 18 weeks on Tuesday.

NurseSnowflake · 02/01/2011 17:58

Happy christmas and new year everyone!

I haven't been around for ages and feel a bit daunted at how much I've missed, I don't think I'm going to be able to catch up! Hope everyone's doing well :)
xx

takethatlady · 02/01/2011 19:16

nurse I can't catch up either!

Brown has turned to bright pink whenever I wipe, so I'm going to have some dinner and then go to A&E to sit there until I get seen. Every medical website I can find says that spotting is never normal in the second trimester and should always be checked immediately, plus I can't take 3 more days of this with no explanation.

Wish me luck ....

GoodVibrations · 02/01/2011 20:07

takethatlady I have everything crossed for you, really really hope all is ok.

For those lacking an appetite, I think I have enough for everyone. I cannot stop eating and the portion sizes I can put away are quite frightening Shock. I have never eaten so much in my entire life.

Will try to catch up now. Back to work tomorrow for me, not coping well (still have major issues with being away from DD, even though I have been back at work full time for a year, not good).

takethatlady good luck again, thinking about you this evening

milliemuffin · 02/01/2011 20:38

Takethatlady I'm really hoping everything is ok for you, I'm thinking of you and I really hope you come back with good news. Got my fingers and toes crossed for you x x

I think thats a very good idea ttl (I'm still annoyed about that unhelpful woman on the phone). All my fingers are crossed for you I hope everything is okay, take care xx

BarbieLovesKen · 02/01/2011 21:38

takethat am thinking of you tonight and wishing you all the very very best. Will keep checking in to see if your ok xx

Clarkiee · 02/01/2011 21:44

I wish people would stop asking me about names! I'm not very good at keeping my own secrets and I'm finding it really hard not to reveal which names I like. It's constanley on my mind but I need to stop obsessing about it as I've got at least 5 months to think of the names (and even then I've heard that you can change your mind).

cameli · 02/01/2011 22:16

Good luck TTL. Fingers crossed everything is fine. X

cameli · 02/01/2011 22:21

I wish me & the oh could agree on names :( He dislikes all the names I like & vice versa. Good job we have a while to decide. Speaking of which my original due date was 2 June hence why I'm on this thread but my date was brought forward to 28 May but now it could be the end of April/very early May as the consultant has suggested an elcs at 36 weeks :(

takethatlady · 02/01/2011 23:53

Hi ladies,

Thank you so much for all your kind words - they really helped. The A&E were great (unbelievable it's the same hospital ... have a good mind to start prank calling the assessment unit after that incident this morning!)

Had a scan and the baby is great - wriggling and growing as it should be. No problems with the placenta, no clots or cysts, and they did bloods and a urine sample too so should be fine. Was still spotting while I was there but it actually seems to have tapered off since the urine sample so fingers crossed it's all good. Anyway, all is fine as we speak so they said not to worry unless I get any heavy bleeding.

Panic over, until the next time!

As for names, we're stuck. We have two girls' names we like (Tess and Isobel) though Isobel is very very popular, apparently. We are currently at odds on boys' names - I like Charlie (again, unbelievably popular, and I never thought I'd go for popular) but DH thinks it's boring. He likes Freddie but I don't really like it. He also likes lots of names like Felix and Jasper that just aren't my bag, so we're stuck in a rut!

takethatlady · 02/01/2011 23:54

PS, good luck going back to work tomorrow goodvibrations. Can't be easy but I'm sure you're doing a great job all round, and especially with your DD.

Merlion · 03/01/2011 03:07

Happy New Year to all

TTL glad you got some reassurance and that the A&E staff at least were helpful! Your name choices are definitely more in line with mine than your OH's too!

My appetite seems to have returned so I don't imagine I'll have lost weight when I go for my 20 week scan. Am feeling flutterings but not definite kicks yet.

I am waiting to find out what we are having before thinking about names. I'm really stumped for boys names atm though.

Merlion · 03/01/2011 03:07

Victoria at least they'll be no reason for DH to forget your anniversary in the future Smile

Merlion · 03/01/2011 03:08

Sorry that should be there'll

Neon · 03/01/2011 07:53

Great news TTL - good to go and get checked out!

jinglebellssantasmells · 03/01/2011 08:52

morning all

so glad everything is ok TTL its amazing the differences in hospitals, i remember when i had quite a big bleed at about 16 wks in my last pg and went to A+E and they basically did wot the first lady did to u, pressed my belly asked if i was still bleeding heavy i said no and then they sed nothing they can do afta 14 wks luckily everythin was fine, glad the A+E u went to were a lot more helpful

camei-my due date is may 26th and i think i will be having C-section aswell

goodvibrations- hope work goes well for u, i feel exactly the same leavig DD now even working part time, i remember my first few days back afta mat leave and feeling like i was going to cry all day :( just think we will be off full time with them agen soon :)

on the names front me and DP cant agree on any either atleast on weds when we know wot were having hopefully we can focus on either boys or girls names
and as for appetite def no problems here lol, i wish it wud subside im starting to gain so much weight 9-10lb now at 20wks aparantly thats about average but i feel like a whale lol

NurseSnowflake · 03/01/2011 09:44

Really glad you're feeling a bit more reassured after seeing baby TTL :)

I've decided on my names, Jasmine for a girl and Dylan for a boy. Find out what it is on the 28th Jan Grin

NurseSnowflake · 03/01/2011 09:45

Jinglebells 9lbs??? I've put on over a stone at 16 weeks! If you feel like a whale then I am like two whales taped together lol

jasmine51 · 03/01/2011 11:08

...and I've eaten both those whales...and it shows!

VictoriaLouise90 · 03/01/2011 11:11

Kara - yes, but you never know Wink both me & DP were born on our EDD's!

Definitely no reason to forget Merlion, although he is pretty good in remembering dates usually anyway! :)

Also can't decide on a name yet, should be easier when we know the sex but so far we have a list as long as my arm of girl's names... and one boy's name... oops! Shock I'm reluctant to tell even PILs of the names we like as so many people are having babies & I'd be gutted if they chose one of my favourites! :(

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 03/01/2011 11:41

It's bizarre whilst my tummy is definately starting to fill out a bit and it's hard to do my jeans up (oh hurry new clothes in the post!!!), I'm finding my tops are getting looser around the arms as my arm flab disappears. Fingers crossed I can keep this up (though I'm not counting on it).

I do have quite a fancy for pickled gherkins at the moment which is nice but a bit strange (I was all about chocolate with DS).

TTL am pleased to hear you took yourself off to A&E and got the reassurence you needed.
And Jasmine I started to panic reading your post. Thank goodness it's only toe talons and not something worse Grin Time to find a good pedicurist me thinks? Grin

Well I'm about ready to go back to bed. Only been up since about 10

Clarkiee · 03/01/2011 11:52

Oh ttl thats good news. Last night I was thinking about a friend who had quite a lot of bleeding in her second trimester and her baby was perfect (sorry I didn't remember in time to help reasure you yesterday).

Names- If I thought we were having girls picking names would be a breeze but I think boys is much harder and we've got to think of two Shock (well four but middle names aren't a big deal). Luckily me and DH have a similar taste (we are also pretty fussy). I don't want a name that is in the top 20 really. Being a teacher in a large primary school I always feel a bit sorry for kids in the same class who share a name because its always proceeded by an initial (this year I have Lewis T and Lewis C). DH and I have names that have never been particularly common and I'd like our kids to be the same (not in to wierd names though which makes it harder).

I wish I'd weighed myself before I got pregnant but I know roughly how much I weighed and I've only put on about 9/10lbs (18 wks) thinking that I should have put more on with twins. I mentioned it to mw a couple of weeks ago and she said don't worry about it at this stage.

jinglebellssantasmells · 03/01/2011 11:54

nursesnow- jasmine is my DD midle name i really like it :) i think i feel like a whale bcos im only around 5ft 1-2 so it really shows on me

got my scan in 2 more sleeps getting xcited :) please all keep your fingers crossed for a blue one 4 me
