Congrats on the movement Barbie, make the most of it if this is to be your last, this is definitely our 3rd and final. xx

Woot to feeling movement Barbie, I can't wait!

And Jasmine, I'm lop-sided too, bump is all up in the left hand side and is mo0re pronounced when I'm led down. It must only be a coincidence but I was all left sided during my last pregnancy, I seemed to even up around 5 months when my bump expanded if I remember rightly

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/01/2011 07:48

Happy New Year everyone :)

Barbie - hooray for your 6 baths! Soounds exactly what I would have done Grin

DH reckons my shape has changed and my tummy does feel harder now.

Keep thinking I am feeling some odd fluttering and twitching but no definite kicks.

stargirl30 · 01/01/2011 07:59

Have tried to catch up but I just can't keep up with you chatty lot Grin
Whoever was asking about cloth nappies - I use them with DD. We do use disposables occasionally e.g. for nursery or if we're on holiday. I really like cloth nappies and they have the added bonus that they stop her trousers falling down! Personally I wouldn't buy too many until baby arrives as different nappies fit different shapes. Same with disposables though, none of the ones I took to hospital fitted DD for the first couple of weeks!
I'm starting to look pregnant now and have been feeling lots of kicks for 2-3 weeks. I was hoping for a more chilled out baby this time but looks like I've got another wriggler Grin
HOpe everyone is feeling OK.

Happy New Year everyone.........trying to catch up on all the posts but its not easy. Had a very quiet new years eve, was at work until 8pm , thentake out curry and managed to keep my eyes open until midnight, but only just!!

OompaLumpa · 01/01/2011 19:59

Hello i wondered if anyone else was having issues of feeling really uncomfortably full after eating only bits of a meal?
I normally have a hearty appetite!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 01/01/2011 20:33

Oompa I'm only eating about half sized portions these days and still feel like I'm eating a 3 course meal. I also find that the smell of food cooking supresses my appetite even more. I definately manage to eat more when I have cold food.

Sounds like there has been some good news in the last few days. Grin

misshoohaa · 01/01/2011 20:38

Thanks for the advise santamaxx and kara it really is a whole new topic to try and understand!
I ordered nature baby diddy diaper and a couple of nature baby classic cover but I'll get a motherease airflow wraps too seeing as they are so highly recommended. :)

I didn't realise there would be such a choice, but I guess it means there is a demand for them so that can only be a good thing!

milliemuffin · 01/01/2011 21:14

Hi girls, I've totally gone off chicken and only managed a few chips tonight. I feel weak cos I've hardly eaten since Xmas but the thought of dinner makes me feel sick. DP cooked enchiladas yesterday, one of my favourite meals but I only managed one and I scraped out the meat. I feel worse at 14 weeks than I did throughout the whole first trimester :(

KaraStarbuckThrace · 01/01/2011 22:19

Oompa - my apetite is reduced, I find I do need to eat little and often though!

8rubberduckies · 01/01/2011 22:31

Happy New Year all! I haven't been on here since Christmas Eve, as have had the usual Christmas stuff on, as well as ds having tummy bug that I then caught, and, to be honest, I have been feeling so tired it feels like all of my limbs have been dipped in lead Confused.

Barbie I hope your water is back on, I thought of you when I heard about the nightmare Ireland are having on the news! Congrats to all with baby boy news, and sorry to hear about your flu crumble, hope you're feeling better.

I had a midwife apppointment last Wednesday and heard the baby's heartbeat, which made me cry! I have been having a bit of a rough time of it the last couple of weeks and feeling very anxious that I don't feel as connected to this baby and I won't bond with it like I did with ds, and feeling stressed about the birth Sad. Me and dp have been bickering all Christmas, which hasn't helped, as well as ds being up most nights, meaning I can't remember the last time I had a good night's sleep!

My midiwfe gave me details of some free counselling, so I'm hoping that will help. I have also started feeling the baby move, which is making me feel a bit more like I am really pregnant and have a little person growing inside me Smile.

I have got a definite bump now and am only 15 1/2 weeks, which along with the feeling baby flutters and pops makes me feel like I should be a bit further along!

takethatlady · 02/01/2011 10:21

Hi ladies,

I haven't been on for ages either as there's basically no technology at my parents or my ILs and we've been away since 21st December. Got back last night - so lovely to sleep in own bed! Congrats to all those who have found out the sex - we won't until the scan on Feb 7th, but I'll enjoy watching the tallies rise!

Have a bit of a concern - since NYE I have had brown spotting. At first my knickers just had dried brown blood stains in. Then most of yesterday there was nothing when I wiped, but in the evening I started getting little pink streaks on the tissue and more dried brown spotting. This morning there are still bits of dry brown mixed in with the usual clear stuff when I wipe (so sorry tmi).

I rang the EPU who said it's probably normal bbut just to 'watch and wait' for bright red blood.

Please help me put my mind at rest!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 02/01/2011 10:57

MMM chicken enchiladas sound yummy. To bad I know if I DH tried to make them I wouldn't reall ybe able to eat them. I threw up for the first time in 2 weeks last night after cooking dinner. So that's DH def still on cooking duty.

TTL I'm no expert, but as long as there is no bright red blood try not to stress yourself out. I think it's Mummyno2 who has had to put up with lots of 'bleeding' and her little one is fine. (kipper me if I'm wrong)

Rubberduckies good luck with the counselling.

My turn for a whinge now. My nipples are constantly sore. I don't recall this from DS. I can handle the huge uncomfortable boobs (which I do recall), but stingy nipples are just plain horrible.

Clarkiee · 02/01/2011 11:04

I am also struggling eating too Ompaa I feel full quite quickly and then I feel like I'm going to burst out of my own skin!

I have a big slightly lop sized bump but I've hardly felt any movement yet Confused sometimes think I do but I'm not sure. I've got a scan on Thursday keep feeling a bit annoyed because I should have had one the week just gone but they couldn't fit me in because if Christmas and New Year Angry.

Who else likes being pregnant? Ever since I said why I like it (although I do do a lot of moaning on here so I don't like it as much as I think I do) most people have said they hate it!

Happy New Everyone- 2011 is going to be very exciting xx

Clarkiee · 02/01/2011 11:44

Can I just ask has anyone joined NCT? it costs nearly £40 so justy wondering if its worth it.
OhLouey do you have to pay at TAMBA to enjoy the benefits?

I'm beong very careful with my money at the moment (having said that I bought myself a new (second hand) car yesterday).

takethatlady · 02/01/2011 11:52

Thanks nmcb. It wasn't the EPU I rang but the Delivery Unit. Then this morning I thought I'd ring the MFAU (don't know what MF stands for but AU is Assessment Unit).

The woman was so bloody rude. I explained that I had cramping and spotting and that it's getting worse, and that I was calling because I wasn't sure if there was anything I could do. Cue ten seconds of total silence. I said 'hello?' and she said 'Yes?' and I repeated that I wasn't sure what to do. She said 'Well there's nothing we can do!' in an incredulous tone. Cue more silence. Then I said 'oh, well I'm just worrying that it isn't right'. She said, 'Look, I'm sorry, but at 15 weeks I don't know what you're expecting us to do. Just watch and wait. Either it will calm down or you'll miscarry. If you start to miscarry just call your GP'. Then she sighed, asked for my blood group, asked my name, and reiterated that at 15 weeks there's nothing they can do anyway so just to accept it.

Wish I never called. Firstly I can't call the fecking GP because it's Sunday and tomorrow is Bank Holiday, which is why I was ringing her in the first place, and secondly a bit of politeness wouldn't go amiss. She's made me feel so much worse, and so much more like something bad will happen.

I'm sure it will settle down and it's nothing - I know spotting is pretty common - but it would have been nice to hear her say that rather than just treating me like a stupid inconvenience. Grrrr.

Sorry for ranting.

Clarkiee · 02/01/2011 12:03

What an unhelpful woman!! Angry there is no need for it!
I'm sure you are right ttl its probably nothing to worry about but its not the point- I can't believe she was so flippant about something that understandably has got you worried Angry

bananarama05 · 02/01/2011 13:01

TTL not sure if it was you and I'm being dense but theres a very similar post on the pregnancy board I've just seen so if not you it may be worth keeping an eye out on replies to that.
My mum works at Hinchingbrooke and I often comment to her that I swear blind anyone working for the NHS has to lack any customer service skills, they're always so bloody rude. I think from memory you're at Addenbrookes so looks like they're the same all round here! Fingers crossed for you and sitting it out.

Clarkiee I've signed up for NCT classes in April but opted out of joining NCT itself. I booked just before Xmas and literally didn't have £40 to spare. If the classes go well I may reconsider though.

I'm struggling on the eating much front too, our 6 course new years eve dinner was interesting to say the least! DP got double portions of most stuff, much to his delight Grin

I'm determined to stop eating crap and get back to some form of healthiness in 2011, wish me luck ladies, I think I may need it! (...From the girl who has just eaten last nights re-heated macaroni cheese for brunch!)

Clarkiee · 02/01/2011 13:24

bananrama didn't realise you could sign up for a class withour paying the £40 cheers- worth knowing.

I've had 1-2 potions of fruit/veg over the past two weeks. I need to start eating better (I've just had a bacon and melt cheese toastie Hmm)

Clarkiee · 02/01/2011 13:24

1-2 portions a day that is. Not collectively over the two weeks Grin I'm not that bad!

takethatlady · 02/01/2011 13:43

Thanks ladies. Yes, that's me banana. I'm just thinking the best thing to do is to think spotting is normal, it's very minimal anyway and that if something's going to go wrong it could whether I was spotting or not, IYSWIM - I could wake up one day with red bleeding with or without any spotting before, so it's probably best just to think this is nothing unless real bleeding occurs. Annoying though. The sonographers etc at Addenbrookes have been absolutely lovely, and all the other staff I have come into contact with there, and I'm really happy to be giving birth there (fingers crossed). Obviously just got someone still hungover from the holidays this morning. Angry

On the healthy eating front, I'm waiting until after the Bank Holiday. I've been eating again over Christmas and apart from the odd puke I'm more or less feeling back to normal, and can eat anything quite happily now, so it's probably time to start getting 5 a day! But not today (pizza and leftover chocs all still to guzzle ...) and not tomorrow (I'm thinking takeaway ...) Smile

Neon · 02/01/2011 13:49

OK - so I was namechangedfor3months but everyone knows now so have reverted back to me! Grin

takethatlady - hope you are relaxing.. I can't believe that woman was so rude to you. I would just take to tv in bed and lots of chilling.

NoMoreChocBiscuits I had very painful nips at the start around 5-8 weeks which wasn't helped by DS still BFing and led to an infection in left nip. Keep an eye on them.

8rubberduckies - wow - I could have written your post about feeling very anxious and connected.

I don't have much of an appetite either at the moment. I had a MW appointment the other day with one of the lovely MWs. I could feel tears welling in front of her. She is my closest one (from DS being born and I'm hoping she will deliver me for a home birth). She was so reassuring - found placenta first and said - well if we can hear that then there's a baby in there somewhere.. Then heard a 'healthy and strong' heartbeat. Was all very positive. She also noticed 2nd scan booked in for end of Feb which would make me around 24 weeks so v excited that that will be sooner rather than later when I re-arrange the appointment (if they have any so soon..)

Happy New Year everyone! I'm going to try my best to be a more supportive and regular poster in this thread from here in :)

santamaxx · 02/01/2011 14:13

Yay - namechange is finally outed!! Grin

Sorry you've been worrying TTL - really hope the cramping and spotting settles down for you.

misshoohaa definitely get a motherease bairflow wrap - they are the only nappy item tthat everyone agrees on.

My bump is a kidney-bean shape at the moment - hope it gets a bit more rounded soon.

Happy New Year everyone!!!
Here's to a healthy and happy 2011 to all of us and our babies Smile

VictoriaLouise90 · 02/01/2011 14:47

Thank you santamaxx & OhLouey :D Couldn't believe it when our sonographer told us our due date - it's only our blooming anniversary! Haha!

Clarkiee - my sense of smell has been crazy! I've been able to pinpoint exactly what I'm smelling from miles away! (Slight exaggeration but you know what I mean!)

8rubberduckies I'm 14+6 and have been feeling the baby doing somersaults for the last week or so! It's such a bizarre feeling! Trying to explain it to my DP was funny, "sort of like butterflies but deep inside & doing flips"
