I've been tackling my constiption problem with things like ice cream and yoghurt (trying to put my lactose intolerance to good yummy use) It's not been helping much though, so still on prunes etc too. It's nice to know I'm not the only one suffering. (actually had a hell of a scare of few says back when 4 days of build up caused a bit of bleeding Shock and Blush at the one!)

At about 5am this morning I woke up needing a wee. Before I dragged myself out of bed I put my hand on my tum and thought 'I have a bump, where did that come from!!' It went after I weed so obviously it was all that wee pushing wriggler up, but it's exciting because I know it's only a matter of time now before I have a full time proper bump GrinGrinGrin

Merlion · 29/12/2010 05:51

Mummy yay for your news on a little boy.

Barbie where are you? Sorry to hear you still don't have any water. Had just been reading your baby name thread on AIBU.

Crumble hope you are feeling better now. Have you been able to get any reassurance re baby yet?

Had 16 week scan just before Christmas when we were hoping to find out gender but it seems baby was less willing to let us in on its secret so we are waiting till the 20 week scan which is booked for 18 January.

Nomorechoc I have a bump but could probably still be mistaken for having indulged a little too much over Christmas so can't wait until it becomes a proper bump.

jasmine51 · 29/12/2010 09:05

Just reporting in...my evil baked beans plan worked. Am now Grin and ready to go back to sensible eating, phew, what a relief!

jinglebellssantasmells · 29/12/2010 09:13

jasmine lol baked beans is the one type of food that the smell and look of makes me want to throw up for some reason i like spaguetti but cant stand beans, glad it worked for u

merilon- i think i now have an unmistakeable bump at 19+3 im much bigger than i was with DD im hoping it slows down or i will be gigantic by the time i get to nine months

really getting impatient and counting down the days till my scan now

i am sooooo tired for some reason DD 20 months has recently decided that if she wakes in the nite she wants to be with us and stands up in her cot screaming blue murder she used to always just go back to sleep herself :( it was 4 oclock when she decided to take it upon herself to scream like she was being murdered and shout dada dada and then wail at the top of her lungs, afta finally settling her i was wide awake and it took me hrs to get back to sleep by which time was almost morning and DD was up agen :( its going to be a long day, i hope she shifts this habbit asap

Merlion · 29/12/2010 09:46

jingle my DS must be in cahoots with your DD then as he has decided to wake in the night and want to be with us then this morning he decided to get up for the day at 5am! It's nearly 6pm here and I'm exhausted - he on the other hand.....

jasmine51 · 29/12/2010 09:55

merlion & jingle there must have been something in the air last night - dog just would not settle - up and down the stairs, on and off the bed, fidget, scratch, random woof....I blame the moon

neenewps · 29/12/2010 10:04

Hi all

Hope you all had brilliant Christmas'. Haven't been on as we went to the Isle of Skye for Christmas. It was so lovely up there but the first day was COLD! Brrrrr...!!

Hope everyone is well. Can't quite believe I am 15 weeks now!! Have a little bump but nothing huge - still just look fat. My friend gave me some maternity jeans which I have been wearing as my regular jeans are a bit of a squeeze now! She also bought me two tops for my birthday and Christmas, which are great and gave me a few other things.

How are everyone else's bumps doing? When did you notice your bump more?

DH and I had a discussion while away and all along we have been determined to find out the sex of the baby. But now we are thinking that maybe we won't. This was after watching One born at Christmas. Maybe we will change our minds again by the 20 weeks scan!!

mummy congrats on finding out you are having a little boy.. very exciting

Barbie can't believe you still have no water :( that must be incredibly difficult. Is it just your place or the whole village/town??? I hope it gets sorted soon and you can get back to normal life.

jasmine yayyyy for pooing :o

jinglebellssantasmells · 29/12/2010 10:11

oh mummy- 4got to say congrats on a little boy Grin

merilon, jasmine- we can all be in the xtremely tired and grumpy club lol how old is your DS merilon? if we bring DD into r room when shes screaming she will stop staright away but wont slepp she just starts climbing round the bed banging and laughing and then occasionally bouncing up and down grrr, really starting to worry about the lack of sleep when new baby comes Hmm

moomin156 · 29/12/2010 10:53

Just a quick hellooo to everyone to say everything still good in the Moomin household......i am having it so easy compared to some of you.....i feel so sorry for you.
Anyway, work as normal not had much time off but nevermind, looking forward to April and mat leave

79monica · 29/12/2010 12:49

Wow Moomin , are you starting your maternity leave in April? When is everyone else (who works) thinking of stopping? I was hoping to make it to the end of May but my Mum was telling me over Christmas that my brother and I were both a couple of weeks early so I might not make it that far!

santamaxx · 29/12/2010 14:23

mummynumber2 congrats on your boy bump. I loved having a baby boy - they are so much more robust and physical - not as dainty and feeble as baby girls lol.
jasmine I think the reason the bump is so much further up than tha baby is that all the stuff that used to be down there has been shoved upwards to allow the uterus to expand. Just my thoughts - probably completely wrong of course Wink
jinglebells merlion and jasmine - we've been having really bad nights with DD the last week or so too. She's 30mths but has only been sleeping through for a few months - and even then it's a bit sketchy. The last few nights have been constant wakenings - I think it's prob all the chocolate she keeps finding. Hope your LOs and dog settle down again soon Smile

I am so constipated too - sick of it - I'm definitely going to get my trusty pile back soon I think.

Went to get my flu jag today - the surgery had booked me with the phlebotomist who said she couldn't do it as she only did the 'standard' ones. Apparently it had to be the practice nurse Angry so I had to go home again - they tried to give me an appt for a week on Friday Shock - I waited about a week and a half for this appt as well - not happy. They eventually got me one ofr tomorrow morning. I just BET I come down with a cold tomorrow morning and can't have it.

OhLoueyTownofBethlehem · 29/12/2010 15:54

moomin glad things are going well and I'm Envy that you are finishing in April!

79monica I'm aiming to finish the end of May too but I am due at the end of the June. Ideally I want a month off before this one arrives. Just because your Mum was early with you and your brother doesn't mean you will be though.

crumble poor you - what a horrible time you've had. So glad you are on the mend. I think I would really go and see a midwife to put your mind at rest - they won't mind given what you have been through. I've found in the past that Drs are really not fussed about finding the hb and checking on the baby. More worried about the serious stuff like hypertension/pre-e (IYSWIM)

kara just wanted to say love your MN name Grin

jasmine very glad the baked beans did the trick!!!! Grin Think where you are finding hb sounds right to me.

barbie that is absolutely dreadful about your water. I know lots of people are in the same boat but can't you play the "I'm pg and have small children card" to get them to sort it asap? Its ridiculous its gone on this long.

merlion and jingle hope your DCs sort their sleeping out asap. Its enough to make you wonder why you got pg with another. Perhaps they are unsetttled because of xmas (I know routines go out the window a bit).

mummy congrats on the boy! They are lots of fun Grin

neenewps first time round I just looked lumpy at this stage (and bearing in mind it was twins!). Now I am 14wks and have a more definite bump already - by the end of the day I look more like 20 weeks pg. I think I didn't look properly pg last time round until around 20 wks.

santa how annoying! I think you can still have it if you have a cold, its only if you have a temperature that they say no.

Am feeling absolutely knackered here, can't work out how much is caused by being pg and how much is xmas tiredness. We told our boys a couple of days ago that they are going to have a baby brother or sister (we're not finding out). DS2 wants to name it Luke if its a boy which is his name. I pointed out that it would get a tad confusing to have 2 Lukes and he quite logically said that there were 2 at nursery school Confused. I asked him what he wanted to call the baby if it was a girl and he said "buzz lightyear" Grin. DS1 has so far feigned indifference.

Went out yesterday and bought some more maternity clothes as the ones I had from last time are either too big, or really scruffy looking. Mothercare is really rubbish - don't know how they get away with it. Mamas and papas were a bit better and I've ordered some online but why does maternity clothes shopping have to be such a nightmare???

bananarama05 · 29/12/2010 16:43

Hello all!

Been all quiet this end as had some horrible D&V bug thing and not been out the house for 2 days until this morning when I was back at work for a few (crazy!) hours. DP has been fab and has been looking after me lots so can't complain.

Lots to catch up on so excuse me if I miss bits out.

Think I may have had my first few flutters, can't be sure but I hope I'm right!

jasmine my MW seemed to have a little trouble checking the heartbeat at my appointment last week and ended up finding it quite high up just under my belly button so guess everyones different.

neenewps I do seem to have (what I thought was) a big bump going on at 17+4, that was until I couldn't keep food down for 24 hours this week - after that I looked almost normal so I guess more of it is cheese than I thought too jasmine Grin

barbie hope you get water back soon, thinking of you, must be so so tough :(

neenewps I wanted to find out the sex, DP doesn't and since watching one born at xmas I think I've changed my mind too! I'm not fussed what we have either way and it seems silly me finding out and him not so we probably won't bother.

On the mat leave front I'm due start of June and at the moment have 2 weeks mat leave booked beforehand with a weeks holiday before that so I think I only work a week or so in May. But I'm tempted to push it back a week so I only use 1 week mat leave at the start and save more for time off with bubs Smile

Clarkiee · 29/12/2010 17:20

Happy Christmas everyone!!!

I have a definate bump (I'm 17+3 but think its more because there are two in there). I want my head teacher to tell the parents as soon as we go back so they can get used to the idea.

On the subject of maternity leave I am also due beginning of June too banana but I'm thinking they will be born in May (twins normally born at 38 weeks- were you early Louey?). I'm a teacher and the Easter hols are at the end of April till start of May I'd like to start my leave after that (as I'm guessing I'm going to be very big). Does anyone know- do I have to go back to work for a week or can I start my official leave after the Easter hols (and get paid for the hols)?

misshoohaa · 29/12/2010 18:17

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all loving the second trimester, I feel great now and overall could forget about being pregnant I feel so normal! Had our wedding last week so was a very exciting few days for us, and so lovely our little bump was there to join us.

I have a financial question if anyone can help, I've been looking into working tax credit as I'm the main earner in our house so a bit worried about £££ when the wormy comes along in June.

At present our combined income is over the £40 k threshold, together we earn about £47,000 per year. However when the baby is born I'll be on maternity leave so our income from April 2011 to April 2012 will be considerable less about £30 k for the year.

Will they only look at the previous year (so April 10 - April 11) and deem us not eligible or will they base it on the estimated income of the year we are in?

I don't think we will have any childcare costs as plan on staying home with the wormy for as long as we can manage.

Sorry very boring question, but everything I read and the calculator seems to base it on the year previous which doesn't help me at all, we're by no means struggling but will not have much left at the end of each month as it stands, so its a bit worrying when you look at all of the outgoings and realise we've got about £100 left each month!

Thanks ladies, sorry for posting it on here rather than on a forum where a load of strangers will see it!

16+3 today - hooray!

jinglebellssantasmells · 29/12/2010 18:21

misshosha- i rang them and gave them a estimate and then confirmed it the year afta my finances were similar to yours, i just estimated my income on my mat pay but u can minus 100 pound a week from that so technically if u r on SMP u r only earning 25 pound a week

hope this helps

santamaxx · 29/12/2010 18:47

Louey I love your DS2's choice of names Grin

I agree about maternity - I think the best seem to be H&M and Gap - depending on whatthey have in and how big the store is. What on earth has happened to Blooming Marvellous? I can't seem to find them online any more???

santamaxx · 29/12/2010 18:49

Barbie really feeling for you - just saw the 'water crisis' on the news - what a nightmare Sad
Welcome Victoria

Mummynumber2 · 29/12/2010 19:13

Just quickly checking in after managing to escape from the chaos for 10 mins. Dp's mum, who had alzheimer's is staying with us at the mo. It's really hard work all the time as she's constantly telling the dsc's off for being too noisy and saying they'll disturb the lady who lives in this house! (it's only us that live here). She's been ill since before I met her but she seem so much worse this time and doesn't seem to have any idea where she is. Sad On the bright side she keeps finding out I'm pregnant and because she forgotten she's been told before she's full of hugs and congratulations!

Thanks for all the congratulations about the scan, it seems so right that it's a boy for some reason.

Mummynumber2 · 29/12/2010 19:21

Do you live in Northern Ireland Barbie? It sounds like it's an absolute nightmare.

Merlion do you have connections with Singapore by any chance?

On the subject of poo, I've got the complete opposite problem to lots of other people here. It's almost definitely easier to deal with than constapation but I've got diarrhoea and have had it since finding out I was pregnant. Has anyone else got it too?

jinglebellssantasmells · 29/12/2010 19:45

mummy- i also have had the opposite problem to most people and had loose bowels since i was pg

santamaxx · 29/12/2010 19:58

mummyno2 that's really sad Sad but I did smile at imagining her constantly getting the good news that you were pregnant - that's really nice Grin

OhLoueyTownofBethlehem · 29/12/2010 20:26

Welcome victoria nice to see someone else due at the end of the month Smile I'm also drinking gallons. Can't get through the night without 2 wees.

santa blooming marvellous have been taken over by mothercare see here. Only found that out last night when I was trying to find clothes online. Haven't seen a gap near us with maternity clothes in it. Found some casual stuff in H&M but their range is not huge. I like their jeans but they are so long and I'm not short!

mummy that must be very difficult to deal with Sad

clarkiee yes mine were early - born at 35+6. I developed pre-eclampsia at around 33 weeks and eventually they decided they were better out than in. I finished work at 32 weeks and wished I'd finished earlier TBH. If I did it again, I would have got myself signed off sick earlier on. Is that a possibility? Maternity leave doesn't kick in unless you are sick after 36 weeks. Before that, you would receive your normal sick pay.

I would check what your hospitals policy is regarding identical twins as a lot of places want them out earlier to reduce the risk of twin-twin transfusion. A lady at our twins club was not allowed to go past 34 weeks for that reason (although this was 4 years ago and research changes all the time). Every hospital has its own policy and they can vary a huge amount. I know I wouldn't have been allowed to go past 38 weeks. Tamba is a good place to ask about this as they are way more knowledgable than me - but I know the multiple birth foundation are the very best place to find out about this stuff as they draft the guidelines which hospitals are supposed to follow. The website is here and their guide to monochorionic twins is here They say to deliver before 37 weeks.

misshoohaa congratulations on your wedding!!!! How exciting! Hopefully you've got an answer about the tax credits.

bananarama D&V yuck - sounds horrible. LOL at a cheese bump though Grin

Clarkiee · 29/12/2010 22:18

Thanks Louey- I'm going to have a read through the info in the morning Smile. If I keep working until Easter that would be 33 weeks Hmm prehaps a little late- but if I can officially start it after the hols (does anyone know if I can) then I'd get paid up to 35 weeks. Its difficult for financial reasons want to keep working for as long as possible but for my health and babies health then I'd want to finish as early as I need to. I'm at the hospital next week so I'm going to ask lots of questions.

On a different subject my pooh is weird too Blush lots of mini poohs (instead of the usual 'big one') but not like dihorrea because they are normal in consistancy! Funny colour too- yuk.

Anyone else not particularly looking forward to New Years Eve? Christmas is full of fun and I don't tend to drink much over Christmas anyway so didin't miss it. But New Year is mainly about getting drunk- I don't mind not drinking but I'm not looking forward to being the only sober one!
