Merry Christmas everyone. Hope that we all manage to stomach Christmas dinner!

79monica · 24/12/2010 23:19

4 hours of sorting out paper work later I think that I have found all of the important stuff and got it back in the right place. We've made it up now, DH cooked us an early Christmas dinner and then we watched "one born at Christmas" with DH getting quite tearful at some parts and also very impatient that he has to wait until June to see his baby!

I think that a week of intensive Christmas shopping and the prospect of spending all day with the in-laws tomorrow may have made me slightly over-react (can I also blame some pregnancy hormones?!) but thanks for letting me rant!

Merry Christmas everyone! Smile

Sarahmumtobe · 25/12/2010 17:46

Merry Christmas everyone and let's look forward to a very exciting 2011! I've also been watching one born at Christmas and trying to hold back tears (think the intermittent snorting gave it away-DH thinks it is very amusing!)

KaraStarbuckThrace · 25/12/2010 21:50

Glad you and your DH had a nice Christmas Monica Xmas Smile

Hope everyone has had a lovely day today Xmas Smile

milliemuffin · 25/12/2010 22:24

Evening all! Hope you've all had a wonderful day.

Sorry for the quick rant but we told the sister-in-law from hell today. We were at her house and DP showed her the scan to which she said 'is that the 12 or 20week scan', we said '12', she said 'I thought was looking a bit fat'! She wasn't joking, she and her hubby both avoided saying congratulations so that's 3 pregnancies and 2babies so far and she's still never said it to us. I've totally lost interest in telling her anything to do with us and our family anymore.

We have had such a lovely day though and I'm feeling very happy tonight. I've had a few wobbly moments about how I'm/we're going to cope with 3 but tonight I'm feeling positive and excited :)

Merry Xmas all xxx

Merry Christmas every1 hope all had a lovely time just think our little ones will be here next christmas!!

16+5 today had antenatal on christmas eve and heard the heartbeat!! 20 week scan 19th jan soo excited and a bit nervous! nearly halfway there!!! xxxxxx

jasmine51 · 26/12/2010 11:03

millie sorry to hear about your sister-in-law - people can be just plain weird cant they? its her issue and her problem, let her live in her own bitter world and stay in your happy 'a bit fat' one!

Had a row with my mother yesterday - as the only person I have confided in about the sex of our baby I was furious when she asked my dad at the top of her voice if he wanted to see the scan picture of 'his grandson'. My brother was there as was the mother of my niece and I was so mad...why? do some people have no sense? So upset that our surprise has been ruined. She has apologised weakly but I just know she has 'confided' in some of her friends and my aunt too - so so upset.
Sorry, had to dump that somewhere. Thankyou for listening

Cheered myself up by ordering the new carpet for the babies room in the sales...let the nesting begin!

xx

crumbletastic · 26/12/2010 12:21

Hi ladies, hope everyone had a brill christmas. Sorry if I've missed any news but I have no chance of catching up all the posts I've missed after the worst week and a half of my life. I succumbed to swine flu and have never been so ill ever, I couldn't even keep water down and was sicking up my stomach lining so had to go into hospital for 4 days to be be on a drip. I was so dehydrated that my veins had shrunk to nothing, my arms are a mess of bruises from the amount of times thye failed to get a canula into my arm.

Managed to come home christmas eve as really didn't want to spend christmas away from my family but still feel so tired now and a little worried about bump as they did no checks on baby whilst I was there, it was all about getting me better. I know there really shouldnt be anything to worry about but whilst I'm not feeling any movements yet I can't help but worry that something could have gone wrong. I'm 15+3 today, hopefully wont be too long until I can feel the movements. I hope everybody had a mjuch happier holiday season x

Just laughing at your big poo Leroy :)

Crumble that sounds awful :( I know nothing we can say will help you worry any less but try and concentrate on getting better then I'm sure all will be fine and you'll soon have that second trimester 'glow' about you :)

santamaxx · 26/12/2010 23:12

Gosh crumble sounds awful!
Really glad you're on the mend now!

I've just had 2 champagne flutes of cava and am feeling v guilty now.
I meant to have a glass yesterday but was too tired - and just felt I wanted to celebrate Christmas. They don't hold much those flutes, but I still feel pretty bad about it Sad
Am I being ridiculous?

KaraStarbuckThrace · 27/12/2010 07:09

Crumble - poor you that sounds awful! I hope you are getting plenty of rest and fluids.
Do you have a Midwife drop in clinic that is open this week? I would give them a ring to see if you can pop in and get checked over. Shocked they didn't do any checks on the baby!!

Jasmine - Argghh for you!! No wonder you are cross. But the thing is I think once you tell one person I think it would be difficult for them to not slip up. I can understand you being cross though!

Mille - some people are just too self-absorbed, I would just ignore your SIL, she sounds a bit of a cowbag.

Santa - I don't think 2 small glasses of Cava are going to turn your bean into a raving alcoholic. I had a couple of glasses of Buck's Fizz on Christmas Eve!!

BarbieLovesKen · 27/12/2010 11:43

Hi all, just spent the past hour trying to catch up on all the posts. A huge merry Christmas to you all. Hope you had a fabulous one.

The lead up to ours was an absolute nightmare. Below 17 today and this is day 8 with not one drop of water in our house. No (close) family or friends have water either so I literally had to travel an hour away on Xmas eve to beg a shower for us all from a relation. I hate being dirty/ having a dirty house - I know most people do but Im quite anal about it and Im in really bad form. On a normal day I would have 2 showers a day. My house is a mess and untidy generally but its clean if that makes sense. We cant wash dishes, flush toilets. Its really beginning to smell. Oh and we've now almost completely ran out of clean clothes.

On top of that all heating pipes froze too - we have it back now thankfully but spent 4 days and 3 nights with absolutely no heat. Had to all sleep in one bed to keep kids somewhat warm.

Myself and dh went to bed at 2.30am on the 23rd and were up at 5am, out in the freezing cold outside with heaters trying to defrost pipes in time for Xmas. Oh well. The day went off really well all things considered and the kids had a ball, which was what we were worried about!!.

I would have killed someone for a cigarette and a glass of red this week...
Oooh Im sorry. Moaning again, I know.

crumble Im so sorry to hear you've being so ill!! you poor thing. I feel terrible for moaning now really..

Millie, I've had a wobble like that too - the how will I cope with 3 and full time work and house and studying for degree and completely paniced, if Im honest. It'll be fine though - cos it has to be. I sometimes think (after having the last year off on maternity) that life would be soooooooooooo much easier/ simple/ less stressful/ less tiring if I just didnt work.

Hmm I dunno..

How did all the DC enjoy their day?? Oooh imagine first timers - santa will be visiting your house next year Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 27/12/2010 16:56

BarbieloveKen Xmas Shock 8 days without water!!! That is awful! I take it is a burst main? What is your local water company doing, are they supplying you with bottled water? If they cannot provide a standpipe are they tankering water to you? I hope you get some compensation. I hope you get your water back soon!

It's my DS's 3rd birthday today. Exactly 3 years ago at this moment I was in 2nd stage labour and my DS was born about 5:20pm Smile

jinglebellssantasmells · 27/12/2010 19:28

OompaLumpa · 27/12/2010 21:39

Hello ladies, I was in the July club but had my 12 week scan last week and I'm further gone than first thought and my due date is now 25 June. Do you mind if I join you here?!

X

santamaxx · 27/12/2010 21:41

Thanks for the reassurance Kara
Barbie what an absolute nightmare Shock
I really hope they get it sorted out for you soon.
Welcome OompaLumpa

Mummynumber2 · 28/12/2010 10:47

crumble you poor thing. I really hope you're better now.

Oh dear barbie, hopefully it's getting a bit warmer where you are now.

Hello and welcome oompalumpa

Well, I have some fantastic news. IT'S A BOY!!!!! I had a private scan today after getting myself into a complete panic and convincing myself that there was something wrong. It turns out that the weird almost dull pinprick sensation that's been worrying me is the baby moving! Xmas Blush The strange thing is I have been convinced, since I got pregnant that it was a boy. Xmas Grin

We're going to tell DSC's that they're having a brother when we see them this afternoon (they've been at their mums for a week, missed them so much!) DSS will be over the moon but I'm not so sure about the DSD's!

Anyway, It's our christmas this week so I probably won't be around much. Happy new year everyone! Xmas Grin

Sarahmumtobe · 28/12/2010 11:59

That's lovely news mummynumber2. I cannot wait to find out what mine is-my scan is not until 25th January when I'll be exactly 20 weeks. We went sale shopping yesterday and looked at all the baby things but most are either girls or boys, not a lot of neutral stuff in the sale.

Congratulations again!

crumbletastic · 28/12/2010 12:03

I'm feeling so much better now ladies, just a bit of post viral fatigue but my hubby has been amazing with looking after me and ds and doing the tidying and keeping everything going.

Oh my, barbie, cant imagine how rubbish it is to have had no water over christmas. Don't knpw whereabouts you are but it's above freezing here today, all the snow has melted overnight so hopefully your water is back

jasmine51 · 28/12/2010 12:23

crumble glad you are feeling better now and it sounds ike you are being cared for

Hello oompa welcome to the Juneies.

Mummy yay for boys! Still a bit freaked at the prospect of a boy...not got experience of 'baby boys bits' iykwim but I'm sure that'll be the least of my worries

Had some friends staying last night. Quite a sad situation because they obviously know I'm pg and that I've had previous probs but they have now told me that they too had a mc and also have fertility probs so are embarking on IVF. She is my age, 42...so tough. Then another friend chipped in about the trauma she went through splitting up with her bf at the age of 40 and coming to terms with never having children..quite a sad evening.

Can I ask a question? Ive been playing with my doppler again. Have no probs finding the heartbeat when he decides to keep still for more than 5 seconds...however, I am surprised how low down he still is. Basically I have to put the doppler on my hair line and point downwards well behind the public bone. At 16 wks shouldnt he be a bit higher? Does anyone know?

Sarahmumtobe · 28/12/2010 14:08

Jasmine at this stage the top of the uterus should be midway between pelvis and belly button. With the placenta and amniotic fluid in there too the positioning sounds right. The position changes loads with how full your bladder is too. Hope this helps.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 28/12/2010 17:42

Jasmine - when I had my 16 week appointment last week (when I was exactly 16 weeks!) MW had to use the Doppler quite low down, just above my hipbne to hear the heartbeat.

Crumble- glad to hear you are on the mend, take it easy.

Mummynumber2 - don't worry you will get used to boy bits Grin Congrats on the scan!

jasmine51 · 28/12/2010 18:20

Thanks for the replies. I wont worry about what hes doing all the way down there then...but its a bit embarassing looking at the size of my bump which is alot higher and realising that is not actually baby...more like alot of cheese!

Leroy whats your secret? Am becoming a bit obsessed with wanting a big poo..its not happening and its making me grumpy! Have had a tin of baked beans this evening....I figure that getting some pressure build up in there will get things moving like a rocket going off...dont worry, theres no-one else in the house to suffer from my plan!

BarbieLovesKen · 28/12/2010 20:19

Just a quick message to say a huge congratulations to mummynumber2 on your baby boy!!!!!!!! how brilliant!!! little boys are fab.
