Evening everyone, trying to catch up on all the news. Have my 16 week MW appointmemnt tomorrow.......and i think the flu jab. surgery phoned today and spoke to DH as i was at work. Will check MW's thoughts first though.
Welcome all the newbys.....im sure in the new year i wil get back to being my addicted chatty self. If i dont get chance i hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and everyone feels well enough to enjoy the dinner and the one glass of wine!

bananarama05 · 23/12/2010 20:54

Evening all.

After all my talk of not whingeing am a bit fed up tonight :(

Only just got in as DP got sent home from work to go to an emergency doctors appointment today and has now been signed off for 2 weeks. Had to go over and get his car when i got home as he has been told he's not allowed to drive indefinitely whilst they do more tests.

He's been ill on and off for 2 years+ now and has seen all sorts of specialists none of which have got very far. He saw a neurologist last who made him do a 24hr urine sample the results of which means he's been referred to an endocrinologist as they think he may have Cushings Syndrome/Disease.

Had a little read up on it last night and all sounds a bit worrying, kept seeing things like tumour, chemo and all sorts mentioned Confused

Just hope everything works out ok I guess.

Sorry will bugger off with pre-xmas negativity now! Sad Hope you're all doing ok!

milliemuffin · 23/12/2010 21:06

Bananarama sorry to hear your DPs not well, will it affect your Christmas or can that still go ahead as planned?

Hi all only been away for 2 days, but to exhuasted to properly catch up.

Goodvibrations hope you find a plan of action for your DD. Be really careful what fruits you give her. Apple and banana (and a few others) are constipating/bulking because they don't have much pectin in them. Pears and other pectin filled fruit are very good. I know thids from when My 3 month old DS didn't poo for 3 weeks. I know there is more to it for you than diet, but it may help.

Name changed back to normal as no longer care if it snows or not. Grin Am wondering what became of Nomoreheels though. That was looking like lots of confused fun Xmas Grin

milliemuffin · 23/12/2010 21:09

I had my flu jab earlier and forgot all about it until DD leant on me and for a second I couldn't work out why I had a tender arm! I'm also really sleepy already. DPs out for Xmas drinks tonight so I was hoping to wrap some more pressies but just going to have some hot milk and get early night instead. Xx

Quick question to those who already have or will have 3DC - what car will you be using next year? We already have a c-max but need to change our 02 reg corolla, just can't decide what to get? The Galaxy/C4 etc are way too big. We want something wide enough but not too long.

OP posts:
bananarama05 · 23/12/2010 21:18

thanks millie, xmas should be ok, we've planned a big family get together with his mum, brother and sister and my mum and dad who are all local luckily so should be fine.

I have my flu jab next week on the 28th and am planning to go away for New Year to London so hope it doesn't have too many effects! I like the sound of the warm milk tonight, may have to get myself some hot chocolate I think :)

milliemuffin · 23/12/2010 21:26

Has anyone felt movement at 13weeks? I've felt like a popping a few times now but it seems too early? This is my third so it might be possible. Not that I'm hoping it is, I remember very well a foot getting stuck under my rib and boney joints sticking out all over the place so I'm happy to wait!

OP posts:
KaraStarbuckThrace · 23/12/2010 21:59

Banana - sorry to hear about your DP, hope the docs find out what is wrong with him soon.

Supersunnyday - how long will you have to wait for your DH's test results? Hope he is okay too?

Mummynumber3 - think you need to insist on a different midwife - the one you have sounds utterly useless.

Feeling a little bit better after spending the day in beds.

My mum told me that she had a feeling she was having twins, when she had my brothers - but it wasn't confirmed at the hospital until she was 8 months!

jasmine51 · 24/12/2010 09:21

millie Ive been feeling popping for quite a few weeks, usually last thing at night in bed. I havent mentioned it to anyone, just my little secret. I reckon those started before 11 weeks but of course the professionals would tell me it wasnt. As long as you havent been eating space dust I reckon its quite likely!

re my neighbours - I asked another neighbour how to manage the situation and they have very very kindly loaned me one of their outbuildings to store things in so I can take delivery but not look at it for months. Yes, I have had 4mcs hence the hesitation... my neighbour knows this but seems a bit oblivious.

Have a lovely xmas everyone
x

Mummynumber2 · 24/12/2010 10:34

How are you feeling today kara? I've just heard on the radio that pregnant women can safely take tamiflu and should be prescribed it if they have flu. I really hope you're on the mend and it's not necessary though.

milliemuffin we have an s max and it's great as you can easily fit 3 car seats in the back. The other 2 seats in the back can be folded down so you can have a really big boot or 7 seats and a smaller boot. It works really well for 3 but I'm not sure how we'll manage on camping holidays with 4 kids and all the stuff! It is a bit smaller than the galaxy it's definitely a 'big car' though so might not be what you're looking for. It's very economical for a people carrier though.

I managed to bring dp round to my way of thinking and have booked a gender scan for next Tuesday! Also have flu jab booked on 28th.

I hope everyone's Xmas preparations are going well. Xmas Smile

Mummynumber2 · 24/12/2010 10:39

I've just read your post properly Millie. of course you won't be wanting an s max if you already have a c max! [flush]

Clarkiee · 24/12/2010 11:44

I currently drive a suzuki swift swift do you think it'll be big enough for two babiesXmas Grin- no way!!!
Been looking at Mazda 6. My DH has just bought a mondeo estate which we can use if we go away anywhere. I'll only be using mine to pop to the shops and my mums. Wanted to try and get it sorted before I go back to work.

'MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE* Xmas Smile Xmas Grin Xmas Smile

jinglebellssantasmells · 24/12/2010 12:09

moomin156 · 24/12/2010 13:02

Hi All.....16week appointment all went well. Heard Heart beat racing along at a pleasant 147-154bpm. Also had my flu jab ( albeit a little reluctantly) but so far no side affects but it was onlt 3 hrs ago!!!
We have just been to pay for a new car ( beat the VAT increase......) as we both have little cars ( corsa and micra) so we are trading in for a lovely 4WD....but wont get until new plate in March :)
Enjoy your christmas Eve everyone......

bananarama05 · 24/12/2010 14:52

ooh moomin thats a good idea trading in both. I have a 206 and DP a 306 which are both 10 years+ and on their way out.

He was thinking of leasing his next car and I was half thinking about taking mine off the road (did this for 2 years til I started this job as just didn't need it for old job) so may have to have an afternoon of car window shopping online till DP gets home from shopping!

Happy xmas eve all Xmas Smile

GoodVibrations · 24/12/2010 14:57

Just popping in very quickly (too much to do today!!) to say MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!!
Hope you all have a fab day tomorrow Xmas GrinXmas GrinXmas Grin

motherofsnortpigs · 24/12/2010 14:58

roofbox mn2 Or do what we did last year and take 2 cars. Weirdly because we have a huge car people ask us for lifts to church camp. They seem not to process the fact that we have a big car because we have a big family Xmas Hmm We picked up the ancient Seat Alhambra for £1000 at camp the previous year. As one friend commented (we lend it out quite a lot) 'It drives better than it looks' Cheeky!

8rubberduckies · 24/12/2010 15:59

Just popping my head in as well to say HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!!! Have a sickly ds and a tonne of wrapping to do, but hey ho, cupboard is stocked with choccies and mince pies!

Xmas Smile

I'm sorry all, I need a bit of a rant. I have just got home from work to find that DH has tried to be helpful today while he was off by buying a filing cabinet (good so far) and then taking all of my different piles of paperwork, some for filing, some for me to call someone about / follow up etc and put them all in the filing cabinet (not so good).

I have a system going where different piles mean different things - followed up / not followed up / too big to be filed in the normal A4 folders etc and I also write notes on each envelope with records of who I have spoken to, when I have paid something etc. I know this sounds very anal but it's how I work and I look after all of the money and documents in our house.

He has separated all of the envelopes from their contents and they are now in a huge muddled pile in the spare room so I can't match any of my notes with the letter or the document which they refer to. I am furious and started to cry as soon as I saw what he had done. Really good intentions but I wish that he hadn't tried to actually start sorting anything out until I got home. The only thing that I asked him to do today was deliver the neighbours' Christmas cards and he didn't do that and did this instead. I have had to come round to my brother's house (I'm checking on his house while he is on holiday) to calm down.

This is our first proper argument since we got married and I can't believe it's on Christmas Eve when we should just be relaxing in front of the fire Sad.

Rant over, just needed to get that off my chest.

moomin156 · 24/12/2010 17:42

Oh monica....try not to be too cross however disheartening it is. He was only trying to be helpful and had no intentions of upsetting you....when you get chance im sure that you can work your way through stuff and put it all together in an order that works for you again, even if its not quite the same as your old system......
Chin up and go back and enjoy your christmas together......

motherofsnortpigs · 24/12/2010 18:54

O 79monica how irritating. He may have thought that he didn't want the filing cabinet to look like it was a Christmas present. How long have you been married to have NEVER argued? Conflict is an inevitable part of marriage - makes you appreciate the good bits :) He's probably got you something very lovely for Christmas. Think of me opening slippers (again) - that's what 10 years of marriage does, and I love it! Merry Christmas all.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 24/12/2010 20:48

Feeling somewhat better after spending 2 days in bed.

Mummynumber2 - DH has a company car, a BMW 3 series. He is going to be getting a car in the spring and will be going for a 5 series. We will have 2 DCs at home but there is also DSS as well. We are looking at getting a roofbox for UK holidays, maybe this something you should look into?

Monica - sorry you had a row with your DH - hope the two of you make it up.

Hope everyone has a lovely Christmas :)
