Had first experience of pregnancy incontinence just now - sneezed really hard and felt a bit well quite a lot really of wee come out.................. argh, what is happening to my body?

Must do some pelvic floor muscles, right now.

And...SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE.

santamaxx · 22/12/2010 15:22

Welcome Louey and congrats.
One of our members Clarkiee is expecting twin boys - sure she'll be interested in chatting to you about it all Smile

Clarkiee · 22/12/2010 15:23

Oh OhLouey I'm having Twins this time (my first pregnancy) we think they are boys too (at scan they thought they were but going to double check in the new year). Welcome to the group. I might have a few questions coming your way over the next few months Xmas Wink

Clarkiee · 22/12/2010 15:24

ha ha cross post santa x

8rubberduckies · 22/12/2010 15:39

Lisa that is well and truly crap Grin. I hate doing pelvic floor exercises, but you have inspired me now and I am doing them as we speak Grin.

santamaxx · 22/12/2010 15:52

lol Clarkiee
Lisa and rubberduckies I have totally neglected the pelvic floor exercises and am now crossing my legs when I sneeze so better make a start on them.
And s..q..e..e..z..e...

Clarkiee · 22/12/2010 15:56

I've been sneezing a lot recently. I also have noticed more discharge but now I'm thinking it could have been wee (TMI I know). Oh no Shock better do some Pelvic floors too (once I've worked out what they are ha ha)x

OhLoueyTownofBethlehem · 22/12/2010 15:58

Clarkiee twins are fantastic, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. My top tip is to go and find your local twins club and make friends with them before you have the babies. They will be invaluable before and after you've had them for advice.

lisa know what you mean - have nasty cough and had similar wetting moment last night...

motherofsnortpigs · 22/12/2010 16:01

clarkiee stop a wee, hold a fart, squeeze a man. And repeat Xmas Smile

Clarkiee · 22/12/2010 16:07

Thanks OhLouey, sounds like a good idea. There are twins in mine and DH's family but sadly my Grandma (who had two sets of twins) and my Mother in Law (who had twin boys) have both passed away. It would be good to meet other twin mums. Not sure where to start- shall I ask my mw?

Clarkiee · 22/12/2010 16:08

Oh and thanks motherofsnortpigs think I'll beable to do all those things Grin ha ha!

OhLoueyTownofBethlehem · 22/12/2010 16:44

clarkiee get thee onto TAMBA here there is a list of all the twins club. Just click on your area. Do you know whether yours are identical/non-identical (or rather whether they are in their own sacs?) Its a shame about your Grandma and MIL but things have moved on a tad since their day anyway. My stepmum had twin boys and she only found out when she was 8 months pg as they didn't have scans in those days. A bit of a shock as you can imagine!

Clarkiee · 22/12/2010 18:49

Thank you- had a look on TAMBA website and they have a group in my area Grin going to e-mail them later. They are identical twins(which I was really suprised about because as I say they are in the family).

I hope all those people that are feeling under the weather now are well in time for Christmas Xmas Smile

jinglebellssantasmells · 22/12/2010 19:23

hello all

welcome ohlouey

hope everyones ok, havnt had a chance to really get on here today, ive spent the day cleaning trying to get the house ready for xmas, and dyed and cut my hair ( i know u shud never cut your own hair but im stupid and always do it myself lol)

hope evryone who has been feeling crappy gets better in time for xmas

Mummynumber2 · 22/12/2010 20:38

spg great news on the scan!

Ohlouey and clarkiee my sister also has twin boys who are 4 now. It was a lot of work for her at the beginning but they're just great and so funny together. She thinks that although it was more difficult for the first couple of years it's actually easier having 2 rather than one now that they're a bit older. She also joined Tamba and found that a lot of shops do a twins discount for Tamba members so that might be worthwhile looking at before you start buying things Clarkiee.

I'm still feeling a bit Angry and Hmm at the mw today. On top of the flu jab incident I've just realised she wrote 'starting to have a good appitite for diet' in my notes after I told her I was still having real trouble eating proper meals and am throwing up every day. She told me that the sickness would go after 3 months and when I told her I'm 4 months now she said that it should have gone by now, in a tone of voice that made me think she didn't believe me. She also told me I need to stop drinking hot chocolate as it would make me put on too much weight and have crackers when I feel sick instead. This was after I told her that sometimes hot chocolate is all I can keep down. She also wrote 'no concerns expressed' after I told her I did feel a bit worried about stomach pains etc. Is it usual for the mw to check the baby's heartbeat at the 16 week appt, because she didn't do that. And she was standing up for the whole appointment, as though she just wanted me in and out as soon as possible, which she managed to do as I was in there for less than 5 minutes. It just seemed a monumental waste of time! Xmas Sad

Sorry for the long rant!

8rubberduckies · 22/12/2010 21:07

Mummy your midwife sounds completely clueless! Can you ask that future appointments are with a different one from your midwife team? And also talk over what happened with another midwife? I think most of the time they do their apppts at the same times and days of the week so just swapping days may mean you see someone different from now on. You should not have to sit and suffer dissappointing appointments where you don't feel listened to, or doubt the knowledge of the person who is meant to be answering your questions! Its an important time and you need to feel confident and supported IMO.

bananarama05 · 22/12/2010 22:23

Evening all, wowiee theres lots to catch up on! Hello new people, looks like everyone's busy busy at the moment and I know the feeling.

Also decided that as I seem to never have anything positive to say at the moment that I'd shut up and stop posting so much whinge on here!

mummyno2 my first mw appt was terrible and I had to correct her on several things too and sit and fume whilst she told me the 3 glasses of wine I'd enjoyed during a week away in Spain for my birthday at 6 weeks basically made me an alcoholic and it was almost guaranteed I'd give my baby foetal alcohol syndrome. Lovely. Just what a clueless first timer wants to hear.

Had my 17 week appt yesterday and met my actual mw (other one was just covering apparently) and she seemed nice, knowledgeable and reassuring so as others have said I'd see if you can request to see another but it is worrying the difference in standards seem to vary so much! On a positive note was lovely to listen to the heart beat and all my bloods came back fine.

Booked my flu jab for next week (28th) hope i don't get any side effects for my night away for New Years!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 23/12/2010 10:24

Quick one from me, to makr my place. Am still crippled with what DH now thinks is flu.

Can barely speak as coughing so much :(

santamaxx · 23/12/2010 10:31

Oh no Kara - sounds awful.
Have you had a temp?

motherofsnortpigs · 23/12/2010 12:34

kara I've just checked back and you were saying your cough was really bad last Friday. Tell your DH that as you can't take loads of medicine, you need complete bed rest and to be waited on hand and foot. And cancel any plans that involve you making any kind of effort whatsoever. All effort needs to be put into feeling better asap. Get well soon, and that's an order Xmas Smile

Clarkiee · 23/12/2010 13:07

Have yoou seen the doctor kara if you've been ill for so long it might be worth a visit. I know he/she can't do as much as they could if you weren't pregnant but he'll be able to diagnose you properly and offer advice.
Hope you feel better soon Xmas Sad

Mummynumber2 · 23/12/2010 14:40

Oh kara, I hope you're feeling better soon. I agree, maybe it's best to get yoursef seen by the dr before everyone goes off for christmas.

Bananarama and 8rubberducks the mw I saw at my 1st visit was really good so I think it was just bad luck this time. There's a few of them so hopefully I won't get the same one again. I do want to inform one of the other mw's about her though, I worry that there are other people she'll give the same crap advice to who aren't as clued up.

What's everyone up to over xmas? I'm just relaxing!it of We're putting f till new years day as the DSC's are with their mum this week. DP's working and I'm very happy to be here on my own. We're going to have xmas dinner on xmas eve at our friends house. They understand that I'm not coping with food well but I'm worried that I'll start gagging when I smell and see the turkey!Xmas Grin

Mummynumber2 · 23/12/2010 14:42

Sorry, that makes no sense at all. It's supposed to read 'we're putting it off till New Years day'.

milliemuffin · 23/12/2010 14:58

Hi ladies, I'm off out in a mo to get my flu jab. I was about to put that on facebook until I remembered that we haven't officially gone public yet and I think that would give the game away!!

We've told our parents but we'll have the pleasure of telling DPs sister Christmas day. She's the miserable 'bitch' that ignored anything to do with my last pregnancy. She even made her husband take the day off to bring our nephew to DDs 1st birthday party last week, my friends can't believe she didn't go to her only nieces 1st party.

Anyway, hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, may 2011 be the best year yet :)

Hi everyone.
Sorry to hear you're ill kara - insist on complete bedrest and room service over xmas.

Millie sounds like 'fun' will be had with the family! Good luck with that, I hope she is filled with the joys of christmas and...well, maybe a christmas miracle will happen!

Ive had some doppler fun today. Found the heart beat after a bit of hunting (whats he doing all the way down there?) and I beat out a rhythm on my bump to it...maybe turn him into a superstar drummer or something.

Anyone got any advice on how to manage my super keen, over the top enthusiastic neighbour?....she wants to clear her shed straight after christmas and will be bringing all her baby stuff over for me. Now, its lovely to be given everything...but its all too much and too early. In addition she has a DD and has 'told' me she knows I will be having a girl (wrong but I'm not telling anyone let alone her)...so she wants to offload all her DDs pink clothes on me. Yes I'd love the cot and stuff, it will all be top of the range stuff, but I really dont want it now...its too soon and I dont have the storage. I dont want it in the house yet and dont have a shed or garage to hide it in...but I dont want to turn down the offer of good free stuff. If I dont take it she says she will give it to charity. Am I being silly here? Am I being too sensitve about still having a long way to go? Ideas?

Anyway, have a fabbo christmas everyone - those who are still feeling ill, hope you manage to find your way through the food smells. Those of you who are feeling better...step away from the cheese board and the chockies!

Have fun xxxx
